So yesterday my accelerometer completely stopped working. I even factory reset the phone to try and fix it. The thing that fixed it was dropping my phone on the carpet from a small height. Keep in mind that I went through a whole 8 hour work day constantly moving around, setting my phone on the desk, and setting it up in my car mount. None of that was enough to cause enough shock to make it work.
Also, my volume rocker bent in the middle from it resting against the arm of my office chair.
I made a video of the issues:
https://youtu.be/TIF0QZkFIuQ
Skip to 1:05 for the volume rocker and 2:15 for the auto rotate issue.
Does anyone have any ideas about the accelerometer? I did contact Google but it was after I troubleshooted and got it working so they couldn't issue a replacement. They also had no clue why it happened.
Below is the thread on the Nexus support site, it seems several other people have the same issue even after a replacement:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!searchin/nexus/rotate/nexus/ytCwNnOJEaM
It seems a 'stuck' orientation sensor is not that uncommon. There are a number of similar threads on the Moto X, where a drop (or just a good whack) applied to the phone has unstuck it.
I also have the same issue. I have dropped the phone twice. Once on carpet from about 2 feet up and another on a rug from the same distance. I use the official Nexus 6p case. From what I can tell the accelerometer stopped working after the 2nd drop which was last night.
---------- Post added at 06:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:44 PM ----------
So I downloaded the app Accelerometer Monitor and it showed that my accelerometer was just stuck, it wasn't detecting any kind of movement at all. I flicked the top right side of my phone with my finger and it now works. Ridiculous.
I just wanted to report back that after the drop onto the couch, the accelerometer has not had any more issues. My phone even slipped out my pocket at my desk at work, hit the floor, and still no issues, not even a scratch. I'm hoping ti was just a fluke and won't happen again.

My proximity sensor just suddenly started to half work. When on a phone call I would cover the sensor with my finger and the screen will shut off. When I move my finger away, the screen won't turn back on. I got into the test menu to test the sensor and notice that the adc reading seems to track my finger fine but once the sensor detect my finger it always stays at "1" (with a green vibrating screen) I am close to restoring my phone back to stock with Odin to see if it will fix it. But if anyone has any other suggestions it would be much appreciated. I have an i337m running stock rooted.

Well it seem like a factory reset and restore from Odin didn't work. Any other things I can try?.....trying to avoid a warranty claim as this is my only phone.

If you have AT&T, you can call their warranty center and they will send you out a refurbished phone. If you let them know that it's a brand new phone and you take care of your devices, and that you shouldn't be given a used phone after such a short period of time, they can also send you a brand new one. They'll include a pre-paid shipping label so you can return the old one once you've transferred everything to the new one.
Screen protectors and covers to close to the sensor would add craziness in the past.

I am in Canada, so I guess I will try to go back to them and see what they can do. After testing the sensor I found out a few things. The proximity sensor will work indoors but when I go out doors it doesn't anymore. With that said, when indoor lights are really bright, it also stops working.

I don't have anything covering the sensor what so ever.
In the past, having a case that was next to the proximity sensor was enough to illicit some odd behavior. If you have any kind of case with a lip, you should test without it on

I do have a case but it's the original Samsung protective cover case.
But have you tested the prox sensor without the case?
You have not confirmed that either way. If you want to exchange go ahead, but if it were me I would test everything I could first before I go to all the trouble of an exchange to find the problem persists.
---------- Post added at 11:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:05 PM ----------
Also, look into turning off the gesture and any in pocket detection to see if that makes a difference.

Hi, yes I did test without the case as well and all my gestures are off except smart stay (which I turned off to test as well) I actually went to a shop around here that had two live S4s on demo. I went into that test menu *#0*# and looked at their proximity adc values. Both display models were nearly identical in values.... (would start from 2 onward to 255 when fully covered) as mine idles at 46+ when not covered. To me, it just looks like my sensor lost its calibration, but I don't think there is a way to calibrate it. I looked through the build prop.. even tried this through the terminal :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2045569&page=2
Still no luck. I think I am going to reach out to Samsung as I found a walk in service depot near my area. This issue only really started the last few days...and it is driving me nuts

Thanks for confirming... I know these were simplistic suggestions, but some phones in the past had really touchy sensors if anything was even nearby. Hopefully you will have good luck at the service center. I didn't know Samsung even had walk in centers.

I also didn't realise they had the service centres. I found it on their web site.
Hello everyone!
Today morning I suddenly saw some bulbs on my screen!
I was so confused because I don't have a protecting label on my screen!
then I started touching it and realized that its not on the surface and actually is beneath the glass!
Any ideas on were did they come from?! and how can I make them disappeared?!
Is there any kind of label underneath the glass?!
Any help is more than appreciated!
Looks like it could be adhesive bubbling up under the glass.
You can't fix it unless you replace the screen.
I would take it back for a replacement
Sent from my GT-I9505
Thx buddy!
But in my region there is no replacement policy!!
Is there any other way out of this trouble?!
What could cause this adhesive bubble up?
I noticed the same issue about one week after I bought my phone.
But on my device, the bubbles appear and disappear without a trace. I couldn't establish a pattern or a reason.
The bubbles appear about two times per day, stay for about 10 minutes then they go away. I tracked this for two days by now.
How can I prove this to the service unit?
See the attached picture.

Why not take photos like the one you have attached
To prove its your own mobile, place a ID card (and your face LOL) together with your mobile when you take the picture :silly:
Good idea with the ID card, thanks!
I forgot to say I removed the screen protector and the bubbles are still there, unchanged. It's something wrong with the samsung amoled + gorilla glass combo.

Today it expanded, it attacked the whole corner.
It fell out of my pocket when I bent over and dropped 2 feet onto concrete. It was naked and luckily there's only one very minor scratch right next to the visor (whew!) but now it seems my auto rotate doens't work. I double checked to make sure it wasn't from the locked rotation settings, and that's normal.
Any ideas? :/
EDIT: rebooted and now it works. Hopefully it's not going to happen again.
Sounds like you got lucky. I wouldn't suspect hardware damage if it's fine now but you never know. Be careful! These phones are pretty fragile
what scared me was just after i said everything was fixed, Chrome wouldn't go into landscape but when I opened my camera app and tried it it worked and t hen Chrome worked again. Fragile phone for sure, lucky with JUST the minor blemish near the visor and with the rotation still intact.
actually the landscape issue is due to Naptime not restoring autorotate when you wake the phone
The accelerometer of the 6P seems to have some problems sometimes, a friend punched me in the leg a couple of weeks ago right on my phone, landscape mode didn't work until I started shaking it a bit...

You should get a case. I can't imagine why you wouldnt, but they're seriously the difference between life and death (of your nexus) sometimes.
i shook the phone many times but it didn't matter as the phone still worked, it was just a bug with the app Naptime not restoring auto rotate when woken up. Others have reported the same problem on Google+ and is reproducible.
I do have a case, a Diztronic case. I just like to take the phone out of the case when I walk into my house. Anytime it's out of the house it's in the case 100% of the time. I just clumsily let it fall during those 10 feet in between :/
Had this same problem. Hit right on the back glass piece sort of hard with your knuckle and it should fix the issue. That usually gets the accelerometer back working
Hi guys. At least once a day I take my phone out of my left pocket and the fingerprint reader doesn't work. I have to press the power button and then it works perfectly fine until the next time. I always put the phone in my pocket without anything else. Anyone else getting the same bug???
Same bug here. Only happens after the phone has been in my pocket for awhile.

A single press of the power switch does the trick, like you said. I don't have any other solution. I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned this considering most people carry their phones in their pockets.

I found a few other users reporting it, but it doesn't seem to be widespread. My guess is somehow the friction created in the pocket is messing up the fingerprint scanner.
Display side facing towards leg
I searched the web and there seem to be many different phones with this problem. One suggestion was to put the phone in the pocket with the display side facing towards the thigh. I'm going to try that suggestion and see if it works. I would highly recommend you give that a try too. Since it never glitches when I have it sitting on my desk, there is something weird going on in the pocket.
Anything metal in your pocket?
The pins affect the fingerprint reader.
Support told me it's normal and to not put my phone on a metal surface if it bothers me so much.
-_-

I have no metal in my pocket. So far putting the phone with the display side towards my leg in the pocket seems to be working (knock on wood). Normally by now it would have acted up. It's crazy but somehow putting it in my pocket with the fingerprint reader facing towards my leg has the same effect as putting the device on a metal surface. Maybe I'm a cyborg and nobody told me???

Define doesn't work. It knows that you are pressing it but makes you enter your passcode. Or it doesn't register at touch at all. Sometimes mine after being in my pocket will have me enter my password. I haven't experienced an issue where it doesn't register a touch.

It's crazy but putting the phone in my pocket with the display facing my leg has solved my problem. By "doesn't work" I mean it's completely dead. The fingerprint sensor wasn't detecting my finger (no vibration). It's the same exact thing that happens if you put the phone down on a metal surface, but obviously I don't have any metal in my pocket.

Interesting, I haven't experienced that issue. Maybe I will face my screen out in my pocket and see if I can recreate this on my device.
My finger print reader won't unlock my phone now. It was working fine until yesterday. I tried restarting, turning it off but nothing seems to work.
It won't let me add another fingerprint either. I get some type is cryptic error message.

I'm also noticing fingerprint problems. I'm seeing both unresponsive (not registering anything) an also failed attempts (vibrates but does not unlock). This seems to happen randomly about once a day.
---------- Post added at 02:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:06 PM ----------
Side note:. I just tried to add my another fingerprint to the phone, and upon the first press on the reader I'm getting "enrollment not complete" every time I try to add.
I've been having issues with fingerprint reader also.
Says "finger moved too fast"
or "couldn't process, please try again"
I factory reset the phone, and it worked ok, for about 24 hours.
Hasn't been a problem on my Pixel
Sent from my PH-1 using XDA Labs
I also have problem with fingerprint.
It does not detect my finger 50% of the time (no vibration and if the screen is on I get message "couldn't process fingerprint, please try again").
Factory reset didn't help.
Is it a faulty hardware?
I have had mine for almost 3 weeks and I never put it in my pocket. It is either in my holster on my belt at work or in my purse. Many times it does not work. Even laying on the table by my chair it doesn't work. My 2 year old Nexus 6P worked perfect every time. Getting to be a pain.
Odd.. mine works great.. first time setting it up on a phone and am so impressed how quick it works.. how did you set it up.. i retrained mine after noticing that i only placed a part of my finger on the sensor sometimes.. after that it was great.. added another finger after so both hands could unlock..
Sent from my PH-1 using Tapatalk
I came from the Nexus 6P which worked flawlessly each and every time. I set this one up the same way but the PH 1 takes a few times to accept the finger prints when setting it up. And does not always work every time. I have set up two first fingers and neither of them work but about half the time. I am hoping an update will fix that.
I have had a Misfit Vapor since December. Then last week the touch screen went strange with ghost touches and being unable to scroll down to access the settings menu. Wife took it back to the shop and had it replaced. Today my replacement had the exactly the same issue. So before sticking it back in the box and being unable to access the settings menu to reset. I erased it using Find My Device. Watch erased, and the touch screen worked perfectly again? No issues at all with the pulldown of the settings menu or any ghost touches? Just setting it up again with my apps. Has anyone else had this issue with any of their watches as both behaved like the screen was faulty? Never had similar issues with any Android handset?
Have had mine since december it now does this all the time. A reset or reboot can temporarily delay it, but it seems to always come back...Very sad.. Contacting misfit today I think
I had the same issue. Downloaded a task manager this solved the jitters. However, it has developed more issues. The watch now doesn't recognise my voice commands and is unable to load watchfaces from facer.
I think my original issue came from moisture on the watch, possibly causing issues as on both occasions as I was out with the dog in damp conditions. Think that's why Google have added touch lock with 2.8. Otherwise been a great watch, just wish I'd work this out before I sent my black one back and had to get the silver as replacement.

Since I've kept it dry from moisture, been no issues. Believe my issue was just moisture on screen giving phantom touches. Once screen was wiped and restarted, issues went away.
I just got my Vapor yesterday and the touch issues are making this watch almost unusable. Constantly selecting things when I try to scroll. Also selecting notifications that I'm trying to swipe away. Have had no contact with any moisture, it was like this fresh out of the box. Guess I'm going to have to return it.
Ghosting, battery issues and more
I’m a long-time misfit user and was super excited about the Vapor being released. I was one of the first people to pre-order the watch in November and was using it in early December. I love the functionality and design of the watch but I was quickly plagued by the ghosting screen issue in early January. I reached out to Misfit and they sent a replacement no questions asked and it was received in a few days so I shook it off.
The replacement watch lasted about two weeks before it developed not only the same issue but also a screen issue that almost looked like television set static, also the crown button fell off. I reached out again to Misfit and this time they wanted me to send my watch, prepaid which was nice back to them and then they would send me a replacement once they received and processed the watch. I complied and the replacement came within a week and a half.
Things were good for about two weeks until the ghosting screen issue came back, this time I started noticing a trend… The screen issues only showed up when I used certain features on the watch, such as touch Lock, the timer, and the weather channel app. All of these apps are native to the watch except for the weather Channel, so I deleted the weather Channel app and reset the watch.
Things were great until today when I used the flashlight app, which is also native to the watch. This time the ghosting screen issue came back, and then a short time later the watch battery was completely dead even though it showed over 40% battery life remaining.
Having a background in tech software, is clear to see that the Misfit software is not ready for prime time. I reached out to Misfit again and was told this time I need to send them the watch, which they would hold for up to three weeks until a repair could be made.
I asked for a refund. Not sure what’s going to happen with that but I think 4 replacement devices is a little ridiculous.
My four month old Vapor also had ghost touches several times in the last few weeks. A reboot always solved it temporarily. I didn't recognize any relation to a special app I used before or any external influences like high humidity.
