Discuss NFC - Galaxy S3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello
I have a little question
Why can't we use NFC on any rom
Even if anyone used our stock kernel ?
What is the main problem ?

No one ??

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it's because not all versions of S3 neo have NFC, so when a developer makes a rom based in the one of a S3 neo without nfc, the rom will not support it. S5 mini port based roms have not NFC because that phone hasn't it either, and CM based roms have not the sources to make NFC work.

You can use the STOCK Rom if you really need NFC.

No sources are available for nfc in sd400 that's why they can't include nfc in roms.

[Q] Why is there not any AOSP or Cyanogen ROM for S4 i9500?

The AOSP and cyanogen Roms which are available all of them have camera issues and other bugs. Why is it so?
Is it impossible to run AOSP on s4 i9500? If yes, then why so?
Is it because developers are slacking and just dont want to make a AOSP custom rom for s4 i9500 or there is something which limits developer from making AOSP avialable for s4 i9500. maybe samsung hasnt given tools or drivers to developers.
All the custom roms available for s4 i9500 . They all have written at the end of the thread that The rom is based on Stock firmware.
What is a firmware? Isnt it same as kernel?
Yeah I know I am total noob.

Don't panic, I can see ROMs based on AOSP here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9500-develop
I have personally never seen a i9500 so I beleive they are just not that common or shipped to countries where there is a lack of devs. How about cooking your own? I've started to develop my own ROM which I'm using right now.
Firmware is a full system
The kernel also partly firmware
The kernel is the core of android
If no kernel will not boot
Note: sorry if i am wrong
I9500 has an exynos chipset which had been looked down by Samsung. This has been the case since the Galaxy S2. AOSP Roms exist for the i9500 but they won't be the most stable things you will try, so you are better off staying with the original software or a rom based on the original software.

Developing your own ROM is cool thing. That's what I will be doing after my next month exams.. I dont actually own a s4 i9500 but my cousin has it. I have xolo a500s. It's pretty looking device. I would like to port 4.4 kitkat AOSP rom on it.. :victory:

Thanks for replying. I think you are right. Firmware = rom + kernel.

Yeah that's it. Samsung doesn't share the full source code of it's exynos chip. half of the sourcecode is closed source. They just don't give the full source code to the developers. That's why developers fail to make custom kernels and roms.
But now I wonder why do samsung do this? Maybe they dont want other phone makers to know their unique performance tweaks which they have put in sourcecode.
Lesson learnt never buy Exynos powered device. Always try to get snapdragon powered device.

[Q] I9500 / I9505: MHL-HDMI works the same?

Hi,
I'm currently running Samsung-stock based 4.2.2 ROM on my S4 I9500...
And I've got Samsung SmartDock for my I9500 that is hooked up with LCD Screen and Mice+keyboard and works just fine!
1. I'm thinking to try out CM11 for I9500 and I wonder if it worth it? does MHL-HDMI adapters work with it?
2. or I'm gonna lose my SmartDock support for my device on top of AOSP based rom?
3. and more than that, does the I9505 / I9505G support the MHL-HDMI and Samsung's official SMART DOCK ?
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EDD-S20JWEGSTA
I'll be happy to know, before I'll waste some time on CM, so if someone could answer my questions, that would be nice.
Thanks
Nobody knows? I9505 and Google Play edition users - please comment if your devices are working good with HDMI/ MHL Adapters...

Will custom roms support s-pen?

Hello all,
I just bought the Note 3 and i was wondering if the custom roms (specially CM) have the full ability to use the s-pen including the notes and/or other related apps.

thats depend on room itself
most of roms support S-pen ( i dont know if CM support or not cuz my note 3 is Exynos)
may be you should ask in CM threat for Note 3 LTE
Thanks @Saif96,
I was expecting that since the whole idea of the Note series is using the s-pen
Iinstalled CM11 UnofficialbyTesmarek. And no. There is absolutely no support.Because it all needs the Samsung based touchwiz framework....
The pen works absolutely fine. But all samsung based features are missing....You need Samsung based Custom Roms.
Try Echoe Rom (iwill try this next) it looks close to the X-Note Rom which is dead on XDA but search for nonsolosmartphone and X-Note build 20...
there you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439633

Well CM14, or LineageOS 14, does exist for our devices. However, the developer for it was not able to get the sim card from our devices to work so he halted development. It may be possible to get the sim card to work, but I don't even know of a solution for that.

Don't be sad man .
Exynos 5433 with stock rom >> Snapdragon with developing made Oreo .
I heard a lot of people having problems with snapdragon but Exynos is stable as a rock .
see i dont have any problem if they just bring noguat to us .. i dont need much .. my main issue with the stock rom is DPI , if you change it a lot of mistakes will appear for example dialer and camera , toggles in notification will be small and just 5 in each row ,, like these mistake , and in the end magisk systelmless root
yes please Any non touchwiz based ROM for Exynos
Miui is there

Custom Rom with VOLTE support for Galaxy S10+?

Hello,
for my S8 I found after a long search a ROM called "Hades", which was a mod of Samsung firmwares. Since Lineage & Co won't support VOLTE as far as I understood, I wondered if there is something similar for this device, meaning a custom (debloated) ROM which supports VOLTE?
It doesn't need to be the newest version of Android of course.

Searching in the S10 plus threads would be your best bet But most non stock based roms do not have support for volte could be different for exynos as I am used to qualcomm
Thanks for your reply.
My searches there led so far to nothing. I guess If I give that device a try, I stay with debloating it via adb and that's it.
Maybe in this section I'll find something. But I am still missing the great picture.

I believe the One UI 5.1 ROM port is right up your alley
