We sit here asking in many threads to split the Droid Turbo and the Maxx to avoid confusion and nothing happens. The freaking S6 just came out and it has 8 different forums. They won't even group the S6 and S6 edge together.
Why does the S6 need forums for each carrier and variant and we have to get other phones lumped into the DT forum?
The only thing "worss" is that spelling. The topic of this thread had already been addressed by a moderator.
Edit: c'mon man, it's not even on the second page of threads.
I made a tread asking help, all members asking in new device forum should help, but only few asking there

Was posted from my phone (and the S and E keys are next to each other making thumb typing a bit mistake prone,, and you cannot edit a thread title. Sorry for upsetting your day so much. I did check the first three or four pages and saw nothing active on the topic. If someone has another thread on the S6 I totally missed it.

Been waiting for this.
If we're being honest with ourselves, considering the ratio of Turbo to Maxx development, this should be the Moto Maxx forums. If you look at it that way, we are lucky to have a forum at all.
The forums split granted to the S6 isn't completely relevant here. There will be a much greater number of users in those forums than these which warrants the extra divisions.
Just denoted [Maxx] and [Turbo] or [XT1225] and [XT1254]. Should make things pretty easy to read. :good:

It has nothing to do with popularity, it has to do with the disparity in development. I could give a rats arse what they name it, split the development forums. There have been several "official" requests and they still do nothing. Im sure a moderator will close this though and tell people to use the official method to request it, which obviously is also ignored.

I agree. It isn't about popularity. The domain name has "developers" in it. General discussion is not what this website is made for.
Which was my point. There is far more development for the Moto Maxx so technically these forums would be better served if they sported that name. And I, as well, don't really give a rip what they are named. I'm an intelligent enough being to determine what development works for my phone and what doesn't.

I think of users. Must be the developer side of me.
Why Is This Even an Issue?
I think people are being too anal. On the MX14 forum, we share it with the Verizon, AT&T, Brazil and Pure Edition. There are other models, but those are the big 4.
The Brazil and PE have unlockable bootloaders and lots of development. The Verizon is tightly locked down but we have just gotten root with MoFo so we have a thread on that but the rest of the custom ROMs are irrelevant for our devices.
And the AT&T is hardly discussed b/c they don't even have an fxz to try to pre-root for MoFo.
Anyhow, 4 very different devices all sharing the same forum and nobody is bothered by it.
Now that the DT and the Verizon MX14 both have MoFo, the Verizon MX14 has more in common with the Verizon DT than it does with the MX14 PE.

Um b/c there are about 5000 times as many S6 users worldwide then there are DT/Moto Maxx users. Maybe more.

Fine, if that's the reasoning. If each one of the S6 phones are so different from each other that nothing common is shared between them for the sake of asking questions, then fine.
With that in mind then, would there be an issue splitting the officially named "Droid Turbo" development sub forums into Droid Turbo specific and Moto Maxx / Turbo Maxx development sub forums? Lots of great topics in the Dev forums, but sadly the vast majority don't involve the actual device the forum is named after.

Hi all,
I'm contacting AT&T and LG Mobile to force them to release the KDZ and TOT for our LG G5.
I had thought about starting a petition for it, what do you guys think about it?
Anyone had luck with getting some answeres that might end up with AT&T releasing these files?
BTW, I used to own a Motorola Milestone in the past, and some forum member succeeded on cracking Motorola's bootloader, maybe he will help us here as well (I had PM him about this topic, let's hope he will give it a shot).
Thanks,
Mor

Please, help us spread the word, it's a petition for all LG G5 devices, not only AT&T's one.
Meanwhile, I'm trying my luck reaching out for more assistance within AT&T and LG focal points.
I will sign the petition if you make one
I contacted them about this and they said that LG has the firmware, the I contacted lg and they said ATT has it, so i don'tknow
Kinda good news.
Yesterday I spoke with "oneclickroot" support team and tried figuring out if they will try to assist with rooting our LG G5.
The dev support APPROVED that they are working on it and it will take some time (crappy AT&T and Nougat's security).
About the petition, before I'm opening one, anyone else got some other ideas?
Thanks,
Mor

Yes, kidnap senior AT&T exec and hold them for ransom. I'll bet we'd have root within 24 hours.
Ha ha, seems like a plan.
But, I'll pass this offer and try other ideas
Well, I had draft the initial petition design.
I need your help dear community to sharpen it.
---
Last year, the LG G5 was released to the market.
Tons of new features, top notch SOC and the first flagship that offered HW modification.
All the community of developers and end users was happy and excited to create ROMs, kernels etc.
But, unfortunately, LG with cooperation with the massive Carriers agreed to lock the bootloader.*
A year later, only two variets received the unlocked bootloader and all the rest left behind with a dying LG G5 community.
Our demend is that LG will unlock the bootloader and provide a TOT tool. Let us be free of the locked garden chain!
---
Let me know what do you think about it.
*UPDATE!*
Petition had been published - please spread the word.
there are a lot of LG G5 users, let's try to make a change - together we can make it.

We might can get a bootloader unlock.. But we WONT get a TOT/KDZ directly from LG or AT&T. Remember all those files are only meant INTERNAL use only. LG doesn't publicly post these files.

My big mistake I bought an at&t variant. I was thinking its a USA based model and will be better than others. I was totally wrong. Never ever buy a phone on at&t contract. Worse choice ever I selected.
I am too thinking that It's a big mistake I bought an at&t variant.
Why AT&T not releasing Stock Roms etc. Whyy

hi! guys any update?
Is it just me or its irritating seeing loads of posts abt US networks?? All op6t forums are clogging with threads for att, verizon and t mobile, can we not split US to separate forums like it happened in the past?
This hasn't typically happened with other devices that have defined varients based on location, e.g. my LG G6 has H870 (international) and also has US997.
They share the same forum, same goes for most samsungs - they get broke into their own sub sections for obvious processor reasons.
I doubt this will happen though as the OP6T shares mostly identical hardware amongst all varients, possibly even just being different radio firmware for the T-Mobile version.
It is unlikely. If you can just accept and adapt you'll be better off. If they were split then the information that is common for all devices could potentially be either duplicated or only posted in one area. It's swings and roundabouts. A naming convention for threads is much easier to maintain than individual sub-forums.

Question based on the above referenced article:
So LG has reversed course on the V30 receiving pie?
Opinion: What a sham(e).
Hopefully this will serve to clear up the gray area that can be perceived as "misinformation".
EDIT: TURNS OUT THE OP HAS A SEVERE READING COMPREHENSION PROBLEM VS SPREADING MISINFORMATION. In his edited post #1, he cites the very article I QUOTED to him in my reply #1. My QUOTE PROVED LG Pie was still coming -- just delayed. Somehow he used that article as basis to ask is V30 Pie was cancelled. Very strange.
This post below is the ORIGINAL POST, minus the misinformation allegation. I edited one to sentence to instead ask if he had actually read the article. Again, this is the article I replied to him with, and now he cites it as his original thesis question.

No, LG has not "reversed course" on V30 Pie.
Did you ACTUALLY READ the article? Clearly states V30 Pie is merely delayed due to beta stability issues found during testing -- which LG are solving.

We are just 4 days away from Q3, and now LG Korea has announced that it has postponed the Pie roll-out for "essential improvements found during the quality stabilization process". Apparently, this delay was "an unavoidable thing", which seems like an odd admission. LG has now pushed the update until at least July with the company stating that it will do its best to release the OS update in July.

There were never any fixed dates outside Korea.
The promised "Q2" was for Korea V30. Everyone else was already assumed to get it later.
V40 was the exception where Korea variants did not get it first.

I don't believe I am spreading misinformation, by asking a question. I did not unequivocally state anything that I declared vociferously to be fact.
In the interest of good will among the human race can we be slightly less contrarian about such things?
Thanks.

"What a sham/shame" indicates you are making a statement. That your "question" is actually a known fact, and you are just finding it out. That's the misinformation part. You are stating your leading (faux) question as a fact and then rendering an opinion on that alleged situation.
"So the pope is really an atheist? What a sham(e)" < See how that works?
And in your first reply to me you defended your STATEMENT, saying lack of revised release dates proved your contention V30 Pie has been cancelled at least for non-Korean variants.
Only now in your 2nd reply are you changing tactics and saying you were "Just Asking Questions."
There's actually a category of troll-like behavior (no, I'm not calling you a troll) called JAQ'ing off -- where people say they are "Just Asking Questions", when really they are peddling misinformation.
I'll make a deal...You edit your first post to be more clear it's JUST an honest question -- and I'll edit my reply to simply answer your question.
It's also strange you didn't just search the news or even ask your "question" in the V30 XDA forum -- instead of the V35 forum (which has nothing to do with the V30) -- if you were really looking for information on V30 Pie? The V30 Pie DELAY has been in the news for several days and discussed in the V30 forum, of course. The link I gave you in my first reply was from a post in the V30 forum.
Otherwise, yeah it seems you probably knew V30 is still getting Pie -- it's just delayed for reason already explained, and you just wanted to spread a little misinformation in the V35 forum and hoping no one in here knew better? At least that's my interpretation until you edit your first post to prove otherwise.
I will always correct perceived misinformation, and that is not being contrary.
Just edit your first post and I'll edit my replies.

Yes. I read the article. It was the reason I posted the "question". I read more than one actually. Should I post the links here?
Speaking of reading comprehension, maybe you should look into that yourself. Unless of course you care to point out where I said the update was cancelled? In which case you PROVED nothing.
I do however admire your tenacity and enthusiasm.
