Hi
I previously rooted the phone but then official status kept changing to custom even after using triangleaway app. So i flashed the stock firmware BTU UK MDM and did a factory reset. Official status was all good at this point. However after one day official status became custom status in the android about section. Binary status is still samsung official however in the "download mode" and it also says here system status custom.
Im going to try following this guide here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
which is probably the same thing i did and see how it goes for the second time. Is there any advice you can give me. I have not rooted it after flashing stock and doing factory reset. I really would like official status to stay.
Thank you. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: Oh and i also flashed stock germany MEA Firmware(the new one with move to sd card) and then rooting. Then I flashed stock uk version MDM which is what was in it at the beginning.
Hi guys! I hope someone could help me. I just bought a Galaxy Note 3 (international version) yesterday. The phone's fine. It's just that I am unable to update. I am able to download it but when my phone reboots it shows a dead android with a red triangle on its chest. I read flashing the firmware via odin can fix it but problem is our internet is hella slow. I couldn't even complete downloading my brother's Note 2 firmware. Any way I can make it install the firmware successfully? By the way it's OTA. I am able to download the update, just won't let me finish installing it. Goes around 35% then the android on the black screen dies with a red triangle on its chest.
EDIT:
I have official firmware, never rooted, just got it yesterday. Still factory new.
version 4.3, build # JSS15J.N9005ZHUBMI7, baseband version N9005XXUBMI5, Kernel version 3.4.0-1626679

Was your phone brand new? And did you check your KNOX status? -- reason I ask, after you've rooted a phone you are unable to recieve OTA updates, unless you use Wanam to fake system status, then you can download the OTA update but it stalls on the install about 35% or so in..
Best advice, is grab the stock image from sammobile (ballache to download I know) then use ODIN to flash her back to original state.

Ah Ok, if it says Official it should be good to go. Seems like maybe the download has gotten corrupt due to an intermittent internet connection.

OK, then maybe you should learn a few things before trying to update - Knox is a security system in latest Samsung phones that is supposed to be triggered/set when you root (or install any custom kernel/recovery). Your initial (old) firmware could still let you root without triggering the Knox flag, and then you can update to the latest firmware for your region using Mobile Odin Pro and still keep your root AND without triggering the Knox flag. However once you update using Samsung OTA / Odin / Kies to a firmware more recent than MJ3 you can no longer root without also triggering your Knox warrany flag - read more about this in the Universal Root De La Vega thread!
i gave up after several tries, since i'm on 4.3 i think that would do for now. maybe it's just downloading a stability update or something? everytime i do an OTA update, it tells me that the download of the new firmware is complete then reboot. when i get to 32% the droid falls flat on its back and shows the red triangle on its chest, over and over. i don't lose my phone data or anything. just won't update. i'll wait for 4.4 Kitkat instead. hope i'll be able to update to that when it comes out.
EDIT: i tried going into recovery mode, wiping cache, and factory reset.. still no dice. maybe Odin's the only way i guess. problem is my internet connection lol
@cptnappy - i also have the same problem...got my note3 n9005 a week ago and I also have the same problem as you....error at 30+%
tried update thru Kies with no luck...same error appears

Hi XDA,
I have a Singtel(Code: SIN) Galaxy S4 International LTE version on XXUFNBE Android 4.4.2. I've recently rooted my phone, and started playing around with my system. However, soon I found out about the 'Custom' Device Status preventing software updates and wanted to re-flash back to stock un-modified official Samsung 4.4.2 Kitkat ROM. I didn't want to use Odin and flash the .tar.md5, as I felt that that wasn't the real "Official" ROM. I wanted the Kitkat flashable zip from Samsung's FOTA servers, but I couldn't find the link. I Googled all over and nobody knew. I would appreciate anyone's help in finding the URL for the flashable ROM zip file. Thanks a lot! I'll need the zip ASAP, as my father wasn't pleased with me modifying my phone either.
Use Triangle Away for reset your flash counter and change the status CUSTOM to Official. This is a good way for receive OTA/Kies 3 updates :highfive:

I'm sorry, I'm afraid you don't get me. By "Official", I mean in Settings>About Device>Status, under "Device Status", it says "Official", not "Custom". Triangle Away only sets the "Current Binary" to "Samsung Official", but not the one under the Settings app. If the one under Settings isn't "Official", you won't be able to use Samsung's OTA update feature. However, Triangle Away only allows you to claim warranty, but not software update.

1. Make a factory reset
or
2. Use Odin
I got a rooted China Telecom (it says Tmobile on the back panel) SM-N9009 and it is on 4.3. I tried to update it but it says the "device is modified" and device status is "custom" I tried factory reset but that didn't help.
I just want it to be like the standard US version with playstore and other standard apps on it. Do I have to flash a ROM onto it to get it updated? Which do you recommend? One with a volume boost would be helpful or should I modify the gain in the code?
So I got this Galaxy S7 (Sprint) from someone and he said everything works fine. (Yea Right),... Here is what is not working, Samsung Pay message pops up and says "Access Denied, phone has been modified". There is also no "software update" option in my settings. Should be in "about phone" RIGHT? Wrong! Now here is the weird part,.... Status on the phone says "official". Knox is not tripped, it's showing 0x0. I even odin'ed the latest official software G930PVPU4APL6. Again, everything works fine except for Samsung pay and no update option. Status still official and knox not tripped. What gives??? Any ideas please!!!!!!!!
It might be rooted. Which would make Samsung pay not work. I'd recommend using Odin to flash your phone back to stock completely. (obviously you make sure to flash the correct files for your phone model number.)
Flash same version then make wipe data/factory reset from recovery and check again. Is this phone unlocked or you are using on Sprint carrier?
Got all the files needed to flash back to full stock and now everything works!!!! Thanx guys!!!
Hi, where did you get it? Kindly pass me the link. thanks.
