Chrome Remote Desktop users, is the sensitivity too high? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use Chrome Remote Desktop to log into my computer at home and I've noticed that controlling the mouse arrow has been pretty difficult. When I move the mouse (by swiping around the screen on the phone) and then lift up, the arrow would jump slightly off center. This makes it hard to precisely select text or even clicking links.
I tried TeamViewer and it seems to work better but it's not as precise as my OnePlus One ironically (notorious for touch screen issues).
Give it a try, I'm curious if anyone else notices somethign similar.

Same issue here, and I also came from a OnePlus One. I have to tell you it is really annoying.

I find that using the tip of the finger (pointed straight down instead of at at angle) will have better results but it's still not precise. No touch screen issues with using the phone otherwise for other stuff.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who noticed this problem.

Left hand scroll bar in IE?!

Does anyone know if there's a setting to change the scroll bar from right to left in IE? I looked around but no joy. Thanks lads.
Other than using the unit upside down, I dont think this is possible! I am assuming that you are left handed ?
Nigel
It would be a nice option, not just for Universal, but for Win Mobile in general. I am left-handed, and the vertical scrolling is a PITA. I can not see where I am scrollling to because my left hand is covering the screen, and sometimes even accidentally touching it & activating links.
Same problem here Bill. Anyway, maybe someday Microsoft will make something for us the left handed ones. And thanks for the great tip veletron. lol (I can actually do more or less the same things with both hands but fot this I rather use the left.)
Couldn't you use the scroll buttons instead?
I'm working on something that could be hacked into assisting this, but it'd be a bit of a cludge.
If there's a need shout out and I'll see if I can get around to it.

I have tried using the scroll buttons, but they don't really scroll, rather they jump from link to link (in PIE) which resulsts in very jerky screen movements, and that is not very useful for me.
Then I tried a registry hack mentioned on another forum to make the button do real screen scrolling, but when I tried to use it, the device froze, and sent me to Hard Reset H*ll.
Ideal for me would be in PIE would be scroll bars on the left and buttons that really scrolled. Actually scroll bars on the left would be nice in every application.
It is not a necesity for me, but the bar on the right is an inconvenience --mainly in PIE.
Lefty here as well dude. Would be great to have a less discriminatory device
The worst thing is, that when you use the scroll bar with your left hand, you can't really see when to stop since your hand is covering most of the screen.

Touch HD - Day 1 - Questions

Ok.. so i wont bore you with my mock review until the end, so that I can get some questions out first : (Im coming from a Wizard)
1) In the wizard, I was able to click on telephone numbers in MOST applications and dial straight from there. Specifically the web browser. I would search for the name of a place, the first link in google would have the address and number, I would click on the number and be dialing. Im guessing this was a PIE thing, but wanted to see what the deal was
2) The most annoying thing so far, is my inability to highlight multiple items. In my Wizard, I was able to go to the email screen and if there were 8 messages there, I could press firmly into the first message, slide my finger down to the last message and click delete. I am not able to highlight multiple items, and ive tried different pressure settings etc. Help.
3) Similar to 2.... I am unable to highlight text, atleast with my finger, for coy paste purposes
4) I am not able to get the setting where face down will mute the ringer. Ive tried Diamond Tweak, manual registery editing, nothing. Face down... the phone will ring everytime
5) When someone sends me a youtube link in an email and I click on it, it takes me to the youtube page (im on edge so, slowly) but cant get the youtube video to play. It loads the page, except the video window
6) What is the ideal screen sensitivity and pressure settings in the registry. Its the one thing that im a bit surpsied by, I know it is not a capacitive screen, but it takes some getting used to how much pressure it requires compared to an iPhone screen for example
I will write about my impressions after two more days to give myself ample time to get used to it so there is no wizard bias... :0

This is something I'd be particularly interested in .
Even though I use currently a phone with a capacitive screen I own a Wizard too. How would you say is the difference to the Wizard respectively how would you rate the sensitivity generally?
I'm answering to what I know...

In the message screen go to "Menu->Select->Some" then you will be able to select a group of items.
3) Similar to 2.... I am unable to highlight text, atleast with my finger, for coy paste purposes
This works for me!
5) When someone sends me a youtube link in an email and I click on it, it takes me to the youtube page (im on edge so, slowly) but cant get the youtube video to play. It loads the page, except the video window
This is due to lack of flsh support in Opera 9.5. You can play flash videos within CorePlayer.

I had an iPhone, gave it to my wife... the iphone screen is awesome, from day one, responsiveness, finger touch etc etc. The Wizard screen was ok, the feel wasnt there, but then again it wasnt big and i wasnt doing much with my finger anyway. Compared to the Wizard, the Touch HD is better, but since you are doing so much more on the screen and with your finger, it isnt as good as it needs to be. Twice the pressure is needed from the iphone, it doesnt "feel" good under my finger, feels like i have to fight against it to scroll the TF3D scroll thing (again comparing a resisitve screen to a capacitive one). Touch wise, it is excellent, I dont have to force buttons or anything. Im mainly complaining about gestures and TF3D. Overall finger friendliness, if the iphone is an 8, then the touch HD is a 6 and the wizard is a 4.
For 4: It can be done, I've been lurking around here for days now and I recall seeing an app that covers this exact thing - I *think* it's either SKTools or the Advanced Customisation Tool - I'm about to load up on or the other shortly, so if I find out I'll be back and let oyu know (if you haven't found it already in the meantime of course!)
6 : again I've seen some mention of registry setting alteerations to adjust this - but for me, I've used the same method as I did on my diamond and my screen is VERY sensitive - enough for me anyway.
Go and fire up the screen alignment process again - this time when doing it use the stylus and hover over the cross hair then very lightly rest it on the cross hair center - applying a tiny amount more pressure until it moves (it moves with a v. small amount of pressure) - seems to set pressure from this process to some extent. Whether or not this REALLY works, or it's utter placebo I truly dont know - but mine's totally fine and that's all I did Worth a shot I guess
The TouchFLO interface might mean that finger pressure always translates as scrolling, but if you want to select anything then you have to use a fingernail or the stylus. This is how it works on my Touch (Elf) - to scroll the screen I have to use the pad of my finger. If I use a more pointed pressure then I'm selecting stuff. I quite like this system - it differentiates between sweeping gestures and detailed touches.
Try using the stylus or a fingernail to select text or multiple emails. It might work.
(If it doesn't then I'll be annoyed too!)

I too would like to know if Opera can do what the OP wants in question 1?? That is one thing I love about my Iphone as it doesn't have a cut and paste but I can just click on the number in safari.
Can Opera do this? I was also looking at Skyfire today and was wondering if it did this and also when/if it will be available soon in the UK?
The select several option for email works.. so one problem down. Also ive realized that the screen sensitivity is just something I will have to get used to.
I have installed Flash Lite 3.1 for you tube and it seems to be working fine.
More updates as I have em. Anyone know why number links arent clickable in the browser?
Good thread, clears some things up.
I wonder how the pressure thing is.
How does it compare to an Elf (my current/old device) for example?
My HD should be in the mail tomorrow, but you never know with TNT mail.
I think its one of those things... you jsut need to get used to it...

Need some help figuring out if my trackball is working right...

This is an replacement phone. Everything is perfect on it and it works great but I'm not sure if my trackball is working like my old phone. Please let me know if your trackball has the same sort of response or if there's something up with it... pretty sure it is but I really don't want to repair this phone if its not necessary.
1. It works great in most areas on the home screen no problem.. but that seems to be expected cause its really not requiring much precision.
2. Mostly on selecting text (in the browser because I can't find another app that lets me have a select text cursor) I notice that:
-It jumps around a lot when going in any direction other than horizontal or vertical when holding the phone in portrait view and landscape. Diagonal is always imprecise and jumpy.
-I normally have to sort of flick the track ball quickly.. IE move my thumb over it quickly.. to get the cursor to move.
-While it can also move it slightly slower it's not as good and I can't have my finger resting on the trackball (where its depressed a tiny bit but not enough to click it) and then move my finger around. It doesn't do anything (or much of anything).
If I do any of these moves outside of "select text" it seems to work just fine but the precision on the movement I can't tell because I can't see exactly where things are going.
I think I got lost in the froyo FRF83 thread madness when I posted. Anyone willing to try and help out? This just a terribly implemented trackball text selection? If it is I figured it would've been fixed by now.. update-1, froyo 50 and froyo 83 all have the same results in terms of behavior with text selection.

[Q] Touch input so bad with vaio duo 11

The touch input in this device is so bad i have to use my stylus pen to browse webs(i can never touch the back page button on google chrome instead it touches the forward page button instead),close programs(touch the top of the screen and pulling it down never works), opening the charm bar(swiping my finger from the right of the screen to the left never works too).
I tried calibrating it by searching calibrate on the charm bar's search feature but they doesn't work as well.
Any way to fix this? Its getting so annoying because i can't use the touch screen feature at all because its not precise.

Make sure your navigation gestures start from the black bezel of the Vaio then onto the touchscreen. You can use the calibration tool, change pen and touch settings, and change double clicking of objects to single tap to make the experience better. I'm not sure if the registry change to make touch more responsive for surface rt applies to your Intel tablet.
I'm with @vinscuzzy on this one... generally speaking I detest Sony products, but this sounds like a defective unit more than anything else. I'm not sure what you mean by "calibration doesn't work as well" (grammar, people: it conveys meaning). but if you can't fix this yourself, I would definitely suggest you take it back to wherever you got it.
When i use the calibration settings whenever i try to touch the cross it shows the input to be slightly on the right. i can't even close apps or use the multitasking. Closing tabs is hard or even clicking on links on google isn't accurate at all.
I bought this machine overseas and it isn't even out in my country so replacing it is too much of a hassle.
I almost considered it. But found there is a problem with the drivers, especially with Photoshop supposedly MS and Sony are using a specific driver but its not compatible with certain apps that use a different format of driver like Photoshop for touch.
The driver developers as far as I'm aware via googling don't seem interested in fixing this issue due to cost and/or it being niche market. Maybe try other software, I hope you don't have faulty system

Mousepad is working so bad. How do you use it?

Hi all,
do you use the mouse pad f.e. in Chrome browser (other apps as well)? My is working so bad.
Most time its scrolling the page, but I dont want to scroll. And I dont know why its scrolling because I didnt make a double tap or something else.
How do you use it? Is it working fine?
If your page is scrolling, you probably hit the spacebar. It takes getting used too, but it is definitely serviceable.

Ok, what is the right way to scroll? For example how do you scroll down and up in Chrome with mousepad?
You can't. I use the touchscreen or the arrow keys.
Space bar acts same as the dedicated "page down" key. "Page up" key takes you in the other direction. For fine granular line by line scrolling, use the dedicated cursor arrow keys. My Logitech Bluetooth mouse scroll wheel does proportional up and down scrolling.
I wish the onboard touchpad was multitouch and could do scrolling nicely, but it does not at the moment. Fingers crossed it's software fixable.
I use the arrow keys for keyboard scrolling. You might need to install chrome beta instead of the normal version.
I think the hardware supports multi touch, but it might be software related.
If you two finger hold in apps that support it, it does a right click. So it supports multitouch for sure. Major oversight not to have two finger scrolling, but I suspect it will come in time. My understanding is the windows version has it already.

Hi, what Android apps support that? I want to try it. Thanks!
I noticed it in crossover on the yoga book, but I feel like I've used it in other apps previously on other Android devices.
Just now played with the Windows 10 version of the Yoga Book and it's touchpad supports 2 finger scrolling in Windows explorer for sure.

Such a pity as I know RemixOS flavor of Android supports touchpad 2 finger scroll and pinch to zoom.
Its worth noting too that if you activate the drawing pad you can use the pen to make the drawing pad a giant touch pad.
That's true, and it allows you to "hover" over menus in chrome. Identically to the S-pen on various Samsung Note devices. Makes me wonder why the mouse doesn't support it.
I don't know if I'm the only one to forget, but you can adjust the mouse pointer speed in settings under language and input.
Unlike the Android version at the moment, I found the Win10 Yoga book touchpad implementation also does pinch to zoom. No surprise if all Win 10 modern touchpad multi gestures are there too. I don't expect many people care so much about the omission from Android outside of us Android Yoga Book users.
Thought I'd let you guys know that someone posted a program some guy made to make some minor modifications to the touch-pad (only in Windows 10 though.. ) if you don't like how it feels/works. I also put it in my Megathread.
2 finger scroll works in the latest update!
With the last update to version 170519 the mousepad works mostly perfect.
old thread to me, but if you haven'tchunked it out the window, i found the expalanation - it is designed by lenovo not to work when typing- until you tap the white circle/dot in the middle. once i got that into my brain, it completely removed that aggravation of why it seemingly randomly got stuck.
