Just curious why unlocking creates the /storage/emulated/0 directory?
No.
Lol storage emulated/0 has been around since ice cream sandwich bro... That's the way it's been done.. Unlocking has nothing to do with it..

Hi all,
I've made a big mistake and have accidentally deleted some pics that were on the tab memory, they weren't even my pictures..BIG oops.
Is there any app or way to undelete on the tab?
Thanks in advance
Will

This program claims to be able to undelete files from an Android phone.
You might be screwed, however.
Hiya,
It seems you can't mount the 7.7 as an external drive so the software can't access the base filesystem.
Any ideas on if/how this is possible?
Thx

I got the same problem, all recovery tools will not work unless we can connect the internal memory to PC as Mass Storage .
-source
Since I rooted my phone and installed some custom ROMS. I've noticed that I've only been able to access about 4gigs of my internal memory on my 16gb Nexus 4. I deleted all the files from my phone to see if a phantom file was holding my space hostage. But nothing I've found works. I'm still checking around to see if there's anything I can do without destroying my phone. I'm currently running Paranoid droid 2.99 Jan 03.
Any backups in data/media/?

No backups at all. I copied off all of my backups and deleted all the files and folders from my root.

i would unroot and back to stock then call google and tell them to send you new one
You already tried formating everything using recovery and reinstalling an already made backup(system only) stored in your pc using the toolkit?
No but I will later

I have this EXACT SAME problem... Flashing to stock makes no difference basically looks like the 16gb has been formatted to an 8gb phone with the memory being 5.6gb space... I basically have Learned to live with it now such a shame but not surprised others have come across this problem

Yes many people have had your problem. I even wrote a how-to to fix it.

I'll check this out and let you know how it worked for me. Thanks.
Thanks El Daddy your guide worked perfectly. I'm back to normal and will proceed from here. Anybody else with a internal memory issue please follow El Daddy's link to correct your issue. All you need to know is basically having an understanding of fastboot.
Is there a way to consolidate/merge the important files in these neverending iterations of files?
Why does the file system work like this?
Is there a way to prep before flashing a new rom to make it not happen, because I am a serial flasher.
Thanks in advance.
Looks like somebody neglected to update their recovery to a version that's compatible with 4.2 before flashing roms a few times.
Update your recovery to the latest version and then copy everything from the last nested 0 folder to data/media/0, and then delete the nested 0 folders contained therein.

Naaahhhh, neglecting would indicate I knew and chose to procrastinate or something
Thanks, I had read the cause was 4.2, but not that updating recovery fixed the issue. Works like a charm now.
Recently I noticed after making a back up it's not saved. I get no errors but it's not in my clockworkmod/backups folder. Can anyone help?

What version of CWM? Do you have anything in that folder? Do you have a folder named blobs in the CWM folder?

Yes, that is because in 4.2 you need to look under /data/media/clockworkmod.

Its located in Storage/emulated/0/usbStorage
im baffled by what it is, has it been there since start?
can someone check, thanks!
Yes, Android has always had that directory. Whether it was hidden on your past devices is another question.
