i9500 aka shv-e330s bootloop while sim card inserted - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
i bought galaxy s4 from korea (shv-e330s), after few hours when I have opened messages app it suddenly restarts and restarts over and over after samsung logo shows up.
When i remove sim cards its working, problem occurs when sim card is inserted.
samsung info shows:

Can someone help me?
BTW can i flash it with rom from europe? International?
regards

new facts came up... i found its working when charging with or without sim card inserted... so mayby its battery problem or maybe modem?

I have changed the battery and problem still occurs

It seems like it restarts when phone is trying to connect to mobile network...

I guess either this is a modifed phone or a franken one. It's not an GT-I9500 nor SHV-E330S.

So, it's not a franken. I can't help you much with this. Consult your seller for problems you have or take a look for another user to assist you more.

I wonder if flashing rom will help, but i dont want to lose my warranty....
i could do a backup rom but i only have stock recovery

Your initial information is rather confusing. Enter download mode and provide me with the model number located there. If, however, it is what I suspect, you'll want to get your money back from the seller as quickly as possible.

Fantastic. That clears up the confusion as to what phone you have, as download mode does not lie. Unfortunately, your issue sounds more like a hardware issue than software, in that the SIM card tray may have failed. Have you tried a SIM card from a different carrier in the device? What is the result when you do so?

Yes i have changed sim card and phone acts the same, i have changed battery and still the same.
But when phone is connected to charger, its working better, but very often it lose network
Some new facts:
sometimes phone freezes (without sim card) after reboot, when first locked screen appears, its unable to unlock phone and then restarts again

Take the phone back to the person who modified it for you and have them service it, as it's readily apparent, at least to me, that you have a hardware issue here, not software.

I have contacted with seller and i can send it back to service... but service is in singapore so it will probably take 2 months to get it back to me

Can't Unlock SIM either, here's what I've tried so far
Hi everyone. I haven't been able to SIM unlock my Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 phone either :crying: My phone it's rooted. I'll list all the methods I've tried and nothing has helped me so far. Here they are:
I've also followed the SIM Unlocking tutorial, but nothing happens when I press "Menu/Back/Input Code/1", and with this method I can't access Service Mode menu.
Reading and reading, I've found another way to get access to ServiceMode, and it's the following:
Press Menu
Press "Back"
Press Menu
Press "Key Input"
Enter "Q0000" (case-sensitive, those are 4 zeroes, no quotes), then 'Ok'
Then wait about 10 seconds and the Main Menu will appear
Doing this, I've read the following menus has to be accesed to disable the lock:
Select [1] DEBUG SCREEN
Select [8] PHONE CONTROL
Select [6] NETWORK LOCK
Supposedly there has to be an option called "[1] PERSO SHA256 Info" but in my case it appears as "MENU NOT EXIST Current Command is 186" and I don't know what to do next...
I've tried the RegionLock Away app:
I select the Region Unlock option.
The message "It appears the patch was succesfull" appears.
I touch the "Reboot" option but it doesn't reboots by itself. After a manual reboot, the phone it's still locked....
The app recommends do a second reboot, and even so, I'm still SIM locked.............
Someone suggested trying a paid app GalaxSim Unlock which claims to support Galaxy S4, so I gave it a try. But after it ran it's process this message appears: "Your device contains a new locking system which is not supported yet.", so FAIL again
[* ] Finally I've read I have to change my phone using Odin and that I need to be on ME2 (baseband?) but that sounds too risky for me to try, I don't want to ruin my phone!
SOOO.... What can I do? Is there another way to try to SIM unlock this phone? Can somebody help me please?
My phone is rooted and these are the specifications:
Device model: Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500
Baseband: I9500UBUFNA2
Product code: GT-I9500ZWLXTC
Platform: exynos5
ANY help will be appreciated, THANKS IN ADVANCE.
THANKS
"[* ] Finally I've read I have to change my phone using Odin and that I need to be on ME2 (baseband?) but that sounds too risky for me to try, I don't want to ruin my phone!"
That's what you need to do. Nothing risky about it, just revert back to your current (or similair) modem when you are done. Use the region away app on the ME2 modem.
I guess it was so important to him that he had to cross post in the S4 SIM Unlocking thread.

If you put your sim in and doesn't ask for code.... Then don't worry just use it. If you need to put different sim in and asks for code. .. That's when you will need the code. If it still doesn't ask for code then probably phone is already unlocked.

I doubt it is carrier-locked, it looks more like region-locked.
Also in this case it might be a problem since for Vietnam (XXV, XEV) the original Samsung version was N9000 (the Exynos one) - and I believe there is no N9005 firmware with a CSC corresponding to XXV or XEV.
You should probably look around for other owners/users in Vietnam.
If you find nothing you should try to insert an EU SIM and see if it works (assuming the N9005 was bought in EU, otherwise a SIM from the country from where it was bought).
In the future when you need help you might see more feedback if you provide more details - for instance your current firmware in the phone , you can see those after *#1234# , also reading and searching around the forums here has never hurt anyone

The software inside your N9005 suggests a Hong-Kong software version (which does not 100% guarantee that it was a Hong-Kong phone in the first place, but nothing does).
I am afraid I have no experience with what happens there - you really need to ask somebody with a N9005 and Vietnam SIM.
Just looked at your video but can't see anything in the status bar. Can you go into about phone and then status to see the service state... If in service or not. Also can you get Internet on the phone

If the APN is locked out, then usually it's because you have a carrier branded ROM installed and they disabled changing it to stop you using other networks. Flash a universal ROM without any branding. What's your current CSC?

Ok you're currently on Phillipines (Smart). There no unbranded ROM for that region, only 3 other networks - Sun Cellular, Open Line and Globe. So if you're using one of those networks you can flash one of those or there's a unbranded ROM available for the Malaysia region.

Well that's an XTE ROM which is for the Sun Cellular network. So if you're using that network it will work but if not, they may have also locked out the APN settings.

Strange phone information Mismatch

So I bought a Note 4 online, when I started tooling around with it I noticed a whole slew of strange problems, which I believe stem from a firmware/hardware mismatch
1. when I attempt to factory reset the phone it goes into recovery mode and says DM verity authentication failed.
2. the phone is stuck on 5.0.1 which, as it is SUPPOSED to be an SM-N910F, should have been updated ages ago. when I check for an update It says it is up to date even though it is not. the return message also comes too fast almost as though it is not really checking...
3. I used an app called Phone Info + to get more info but the info retrieved does not match what the About Device page in settings says says
Here are screenshots of the about device page under settings

Edline08, me too! I just purchased a new Note 4 but apparently it isn't new. Looks refurbished to me as there is a mismatch between various parts. And it has the exact same info as provided by Son of Kalas - the model, the build fingerprint, etc.
Son of Kalas can you please let us know if you figured out which firmware to use? I need to flash the phone since it has glitches. Thank you!
Same issue here.. Son of Kalas can you feedback on how you got it solved...

SM-G950FD Official ROM

I have just acquired the international factory unlocked Galaxy S8, model number SM-G950FD duel sim, and don't see that specific variant on Sammobile official rom downloads. There are many SM-G950F downloads and correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume they would work, only problem is don't know which region I should use. There are 7 or 8 different regions with the matching PDA and CSC sequences as mine, but does it matter which one I choose? Just want to be sure I have the proper "official" backup rom before I venture into rooting etc.
Have searched this thread and the net to no avail.
Any advice and clarification on this would be greatly appreciated!
G950FD is a variant of G950F. But still I'm not sure if you can flash it or not because modem, bootloader and baseband are exact model number exclusive. Btw Sammobile is not official provider of stock rom. You can try using Samsung's official app.
OK thanks! Now when you say "try using Samsung's official app", do you mean Smartswitch for Windows or Kies 3 or something other?

So sure enough I locked myself out of my phone after rooting (don't ask) only access was download mode, so I tried SmartSwitch and it got me back up and running! So thank you very much for the tip "undercontr"!
Only thing I would suggest is to ensure you have your phone's serial number (required for SmartSwitch) on hand. Because other than acquiring from the dialer code, the only other place is on the sticker on back of phone....it's not on the box. So keep your sticker in a safe place when you remove from back of phone!

If you're not hanging around forbidden stuff in Android, you should always stick to official stuff. Stability is greater in that way.
I wouldn't root my device if it has still warranty.

F Firmware works for FD as well. There's no difference.
Pull the firmware for SM-G950F from Samfirm tool, according to your region.

Did you try on S8 Duos ?
Worked Perfectly Single Sim - Dual Sim firmware same. SM-G950F
ok, the F firmware works well on FD device, but can I put 2 sim cards on F firmware or it will work with one sim card only?

I have G950F phone, and I'm trying to get Samsung Pay US to work. Can I flash G950FD (XSG) firmware on my G950F phone?
When I had my S7 edge (G935F), I had XSG firmware and I was able to get Samsung Pay US to work but XSG model was G935F then and not G935FD.

(sorry I am noob, cannot post formatted hyperlink): updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model is good for downloading firmware.
And thanks to everyone here! - I was coming to ask same question: Would I brick my SM-G955FD by flashing SM-G955F software.. (to enable native WiFi Callling/VoWiFi by fllashing to a region which does not have SM-G955FD specific firmware).
Can you get like a another sim tray and use sd card? I'm presuming its the same as F and no real changes tbh

I just checked my Duo; The SIM Tray has a 'SIM1' slot, and a 'SIM2/MicroSD' slot which looks like it can take either (not both).
