Hello, I am very interested what causes this kernel wakelock on my device? (I think problem is in qpnp_fg_memaccess, qpnp_fg_update_sram, qpnp_fq_update_temp, but I dont know whats that.)

Hi , I 'm having these wakelocks lot in my lg g Flex 2. I read that could be the kernel related to battery overheating monitoring. I don´t know how to solve, too. My bootloader is lockead and there are no kernels to GF2.

I am on Moto X Style rooted and now using custom kernel. This wakelocks are also showing and cant find what is causing them.
After upgrading to Marshmallow problem stayed. So now I am using TruPureXMM 2.5 ROM and Frankenclark 0.52 kernel. I have tried to disable zRAM, fsync and swappiness, but no success.
I have attached screenshots also. Can someone explain reason for this wakelock?

I get tons of qpnp_fg_memaccess, qpnp_fg_update_sram, qpnp_fq_update_temp when using 802.1x enterprise wifi. I haven't found a solution for fix yet. It seems like the extra encryption layer required by 802.1x eap keeps the phone awake by sending keepalive packets. That, or something on the network is sending packets pinging devices constantly.

I will try to "test" more for it, but as I remember, I had a lot of this wakelocks also without enabling wifi at all.

Not sure, but I think the wakelock is used when the phone receives any packet while sleeping. So you will still get it while on celluar radio like getting email notification etc. But on a 802.1x wifi network many of the packets are just empty, the phone doesn't get to sleep much expecting something to do.

Hmm, that makes sense than. The best test is to not use wifi/data I suppose.

So I've been pulling out my hair due to a specific issue I was having with a work place router.
Some days I'd come in and my wireless would connect, other times the connection would fail on "Obtaining an IP Address". This never happened on stock or other people's phones, which seemed strange to me. I finally got a chance to dig into this.
According to LogCat, the dhcpcd service was ignoring messages due to an invalid server id. While technically this is the router's fault, I'm not able to replace it myself, (like I said this is a work place router). Looking at the dhcpcd included with my ROM it appears to be 4.0.15. So I went hunting down dhcpcd.
Turns out in 4.0.13 they added the stricter checks to dhcpcd:
http://freshmeat.net/projects/dhcpcd/releases
In 5.0 this setting is driven by a conf file, but not in the 4.X.
Stock is using 4.0.1. As root I replaced the /system/bin/dhcpcd (cat /sdcard/dhcpcd > /system/bin/dhcpcd) with the version attached to this post and went forward. The troublesome router connected without an issue, and life is now good. I haven't tried to reboot yet, which may replace the version of dhcpcd that I have.
If you maintain a ROM please do not include dhcpcd 4.0.13 or greater as it causes people grief. dhcpcd 5.* is fine, provided you remove the "requires dhcp_server_identifier" line from the dhcpcd.conf file.
I have this problem on Perception 10.1 (as well as had it with Axura).
Interesting issue.

The only way I can reproduce what he is talking about is if I don't broadcast the SSID, other then that I never have issues.
That is with my wrt54gl, my E3000 setup that way will connect fine (both have dd-wrt)

Just happy to see that you're sticking with Samsung for your next phone. And are you planning to get the new kernel back up after the problem from the other night. I'm still using the build 11 that you posted. I have not run into problems.

Good to hear. I had to think about why this works for you as you're just changing the dhcp client. If the dhcp server has a short lease time, and is implemented badly that might explain why you were getting dropped.
Kudos to GB for finding this, and to DG for being right on-top of things, noticing, and making use of it.

Run logcat when the connection is failing to connect and see if there's any messages, it might point to a root cause.

Actually, no I was not aware. I appreciate all ROM maintainers reading and taking the time to fix this, regardless of if they give me a shout out or not.
Im sure we all know that the atrix has serious data connection issues. Mine disconnects all the time. Motorola has promised an update, but god knows when that is. I was wondering if there is anyone here who've tried to fix this? You guys are probably smarter than Motorola anyways.
Pretty sure this is the wrong section to post this question, but anyway, mine hasn't dropped data once.

Funny, but I have the same issue. My data constantly drop. I notice it more when coming out of standby. Also, when I am on a call, I'm unable to surf or use data--never had that issue before.
I haven't done much looking into the root cause, because I have been to busy tinkering. One idea I had was to swap my SIM for a new one, as I have had this one for quite some time. Just a thought.
On more thing.
I keep my battery profile on battery saver. Maybe that's the issue. I will do more investigating and report back.
Sorry if this is the wrong section.
I've tried hard resetting the phone and I have changed my sim. Im following the motorola support forums and this is a common issue.
I think they are working for a patch.
I just figured that it wouldnt hurt to ask and see if you guys have figured it out and fixed it on your own.

I do't think that's the issue being discussed here.
WiFi connection and network data connections are not the same and are controlled differently.

I did notice the wifi randomly losing its connection (sometimes really frequently) while using school wifi even though my laptop's wifi was fine at the same time... but I never had a problem on my home wifi (with DD-WRT ). The Atrix wifi drivers must not like certain types of AP's.
P.S. I'm using Nighttime saver.
No issues whatsoever with data for me. Atrix net connectivity is rock solid.

Question #1: Maybe the problem isn't the phone but the router. Have you tried a different phone with that router? Or your HD2 somewhere else? And no, radio shouldn't affect your WiFi *that much*. Also, could you please elaborate more? What do you mean by "not working"? Does it just disconnects, does it stay on "scanning", doesn't it assign you an IP address? What exactly is the problem?
Question #2: All JB ROMs are good.

Is it a problem with only this wifi connection or with all connections?
Have you tried another device?
You can try setting Google DNS servers. Also, if you have security on your Wifi, try changing its type.

If it occurs on many ROMs, its probably something inside the hardware (just guessing).
Try asking at local GSM service if You have any nearby

It's either the digitizer or the end button. Try to pull the end button after pressing and see if the problem is still there.
Usually i switch on WiFi and disable mobile data manually while at home. It turns out that i don't receive any Push Notifications like WhatsApp, Threema, Facebook and GMail/Inbox (those who are using gcm) when the device is connected to WiFi solely and the screen is locked. If i unlock the device after a certain amount of time, a bunch of notifications are popping up. This is reproducable and won't occur on mobile data. Just do the following, while i.e. at home:
Connect to WiFi
Deactivate your Mobile Data
Lock your screen and let your Device rest for a couple of seconds
Tell someone to send you a Mail to your Gmail Account (or on any other GCM-Push related way)
You probably may notice that your device won't wake up to notify you about this incoming message until you pick it up and unlock it. I have tested this since weeks with multiple official nightlies of CM12, custom builds and even unofficial CM12.1 builds, they all show the same behaviour. Even with official CM11s this issue persists, but can be worked around by unchecking "WiFi Optimizations" in advanced WiFi-Settings. Unfortunately Lollipop doesn't have this WiFi Optimization trigger anymore. Ofc "Keep WiFi on during sleep" is set to "always". After all tests i came to the conclusion that the device simply gets no wakelock trigger from notifications if connected to WiFi solely. I've fixed this for me by fiddeling with the configuration files (root needed).
Open /system/etc/wifi/WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini and change
Code:
hostNSOffload=0
to
Code:
hostNSOffload=1
After this change and a reboot, your device should be able to wake up from incoming notifications instantly while on WiFi. Some custom ROM, like SlimSaber have set this out of the box, while official cm nightlies and other custom ROM, like exodus, haven't.

Usually i've disabled ivp6, because of the known problems with it. I've tested it with ipv6 enabled and it worked.
Meanwhile i was able to test a lil bit more on other networks. It seems like this all is router dependant. While having the chance to exessively using another WiFi network yesterday, i was able to check that there are no such problems as described before. After went home, problems reappeared. I have to conclude that there must be some culprit with my router at least (Telekom Speedport W724V).
I noticed such notification flood several times.
I can't say under which circumstances because I didn't care about it yet but your post made me remember this.
I gonna investigate that asap.
As far as I can say this happened only at home yet. My router is an AVM FritzBox 7390.
On my OPO I have usually always one of the newest official CM12 nightlies installed.
I've tested stock settings while connected to a completely different router a few days ago and wasn't able to reproduce the issue. It really turns out that it has something to do with certain routers, in my case a Speedport W724V Type A (by Huawei). It seems like this issues has something to do with ARP Offloading and filtering of Broadcast/Multicast. As far as i understand, Androids MAC Adress isn't hard coded and the router loses the connection to the device if it goes into sleep state. Therefore the router has to broadcast via arp to look for the device, but the device simply doesn't respond to the arp request, coz the wifi driver is configured to ignore that broadcasts and continue sleeping. This issue is, as i read, present since KitKat where it could at least be worked around by disabling the WiFi Optimizations, which seems to be only a checkbox for above mentioned manual method Lollipop.
Currently i've no idea how to fix this in a better way, since my described method works flawlessly, but it's definately a lil battery drainer. Another way to work around this is by setting "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" to "never" and let the device handover the data connection to mobile data while sleeping. This, at least, ensures the battery savings which were intended by the developers.
Steve Kondik merged an interesting commit today, which i am not aware of if this will change anything related to this issue. As this commit was merged into cm12.1 branch i doubt that we will see anything related in cm12 based roms, nor the upcoming cm12s. Maybe some nifty dev like @ak or @Lord Boeffla can take a look into this and implement it into their kernel.
I put the interesting commit into my cm12.1 kernel, which comes out tomorrow.
If all goes well I can look to back port it to cm12 and maybe even cm11(s).
Let's see. First we need opinions on the test kernel tomorrow.

Okay guys, i've tried AK's latest experimental kernel (v203). If they turn out to work better - my other kernel variants (cm11s, cm11, cm12) are also already ready with these new drivers backported. Just have not released them as I want to give it some more testing.

We cannot look into the driver used for Oxygen OS as the kernel code is not yet released as far as I know (if it is, I would be happily be corrected )

You're welcome. I have to admit that the problem reappeared. So the new Wi-Fi drivers have no permanent solution for me. As told in the other thread I found my temporary solution by simply let Wi-Fi auto turn off when device for to sleep. My data plan allows me this easily, but if you're on a 200mb data plan this could be ****ty for you. Let's see if future commits of cm will change anything.
I fortunately have a 3gb lte contract, so this shouldn't be the issue. I just don't want to accept that there might not be a solution without tradeoffs.
I'll let you know if I find anything

Would be nice. I'm hunting this issue down since January, so far, as said, without any real solution other than using another router. it works anywhere except at home, so i know exactly how annoying this is. It's not that big problem to use mobile data when screen is off, but is pisses me off, if i just forget this sometimes and miss urgend messages from WhatsApp or Threema, coz they're arriving hours later. As desribed above, there is a way to prevent the OnePlus to not filter the WiFi Broadcasts. You just have to edit this one line in the configuration manually, but it comes at the cost of battery.
Even if with new 4.5.3 build, wifi problem persists.
And I think I've understood now what's happening.
On auto mode (both bands), when near from router, everything works correctly. When far from router, wifi doesn't work .
The solution? Choose only 2.4ghz or 5ghz, not automatic, as someone already said.
I'm starting to think that this is an hardware problem... Not software... And I'm scared. If near to the 14 days return policy (I think) it isn't solved, I'm returning my device probably. I'm scared it could be an hardware problem (yes, OnePlus always have some hardware problem, on screen, or something.. this case maybe it's WiFi).
What do you guys think?
I never had any issue with Wi-Fi. Automatic, and it's 2,4GHz. After i tap the WiFi icon, it's tuning on automatically. I recommend you to send hack the device if the problem persist.
It is connected always to the network, 2.4g or 5g, but doesn't open anything. Any page, any speed test, nothing.
Are you mixing your n/ac bands? If your have an n router and the phone is constantly try to connect to ac? I don't know but anything is worth checking. Like force your router to one of the other
I had this problem when I had data saver turned on in Chrome. I turned it off, and it worked like normal.
It may specific to your device. RMA soon.

Is anyone using pi-hole as DNS and find it not connecting to internet or in some application that internet is not available but apps like browser still connect to internet and work ? Never had problem with WIFI when using pi-hole as DNS. this must be WiFi related bug

Nu actually i have 0 issues with my oneplus. I have a ipv6 rooter with both bands 5 and 2.4. Both work flawless. U really shoud test it on other rooters with different configuration(ac+n;ac only; n only; b+g) and see if the problem persists. My recomandation is 2 check the interferance level and scan for possible problems comming from u're neighbours that use same band as u (i had issues with my lg g3 because my wifi had the same band as my neighbours and had huge interference).

If other phones works ok with that router configuration, why should I change router settings to match OP5 needs?
Also, OP5 doesn't work on my work's 5Ghz network, so... It can not be router related.

Diferent phones diferent receivers/parts . It may be a compatibility problem i dunno ( i cand only suggest some workarounds) i didnt work at the building of 1+5 so... it is your decision if u want 2 investigate the problem or just move forward and maybe select another phone that fits your rooter.

No, I like this phone, so I'm trying to staying with it. I guess this is a software problem on the phone... I hope.
There was another thread on this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/help/wi-fi-connection-dropping-ipv6-t3627933
I was having problems yesterday morning right after updating to 4.5.3. It was only acting up on 5GHz.
That said, I've had PingTools set up to check every 15 minutes and I haven't seen any drops in the last 20 hours. The only thing I'd done to the phone was remove the tempered glass screen protector, but I have trouble believing that was the cause(!)
My OP5 arrived today and everything works perfectly. After reading the forums thoroughly for a week I knew what to look out for.
If the problem persists I would RMA, it'll be annoying to have the delay to use the phone, but better to have one that works in perfect order.
