Anyone else has lag when playing the game Magic Rush : Heroes? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This game runs smooth on my old Moto X 2nd gen but has crazy lag on my Nexus 6p. Read that it could be the Snapdragon 810 which isn't optimized for the game but just wanted to verify if any other users are having this issue as well? Thanks.

Most likely that's it. Or it could be there fact that the game isn't updated to run on 6.0. Same problem pops up every year when the new nexus phone pops up. Last year people were mad that games were perfect on the note 4 and sucked on the n6 ( same SOC). The games needed to be updated for LP

There game runs very smooth on my nexus 5. But very laggy on my nexus 6p. Couldn't find any way to fix this lag.
Both phones are running stock Android 6.0 (unrooted)

Is Google Still selling bad Nexus 7's?

Hello, when i went to a retail store to get the nexus 7 they would not let me even buy the ones they had their and i'm wondering if google is still selling the damaged units they must be mad at ASUS.
I had one delivered from Google on wed. I honestly haven't noticed any issues with it... and I'm generally picky.

Screen lift or anything? How much do you use it?
Of course they are still selling them with issues. All gadgets from all makers will have defective units.
The part that matters is how much of them are bad. It is better now. How much? Nobody knows for sure.
I received mine halfway through July and had no issues so I really can't comment.

I got my Nexus 7 on August 3rd and have had no issues. It is an amazing device. The only problem I have had is I just want to do more and more! I just can't come close to what it can do! (That is also one of the downsides because a lot of games aren't optimized for the Tegra 3 processor. They work absolutely fine, but they could just have better graphics and feel. Also, do not get Nova 3 quite yet. It is one of like 3 games that don't work well with the Tegra 3. It is still playable, it just has a really slow frame rate, and that is one of the best games too, :'( ) Overall, find it and get it, and worst thing comes worst, you have to send it back to get a replacement if it has manufacture issues. I have rooted mine, but I can just relock the boot loader and send it back if it has issues. Most of the time they will still fix an issue if it does not have to do with root software, but you could still just lock the boot loader if you needed to. So get it, root it, and have fun!

GPU: Nvidia GeForce w/ 12 Cores @ 416 MHz
RAM: 1 GB of DDR3 RAM

im not detecting any screen lift or anything like that.
I use it maybe ~4 hours average a day. mostly checking sites' rdping, etc.

GTA Vice city running slow?

I got my nexus 4 today, so I decided to test it's performance by downloading GTA Vice city and i noticed it is running very laggy! under 20 fps even.. It's constantly like that. I've also tested the game on a Galaxy s2 and I did not notice any slow downs at all! It even ran very smooth, on the galaxy s2 it ran on medium so I switched to medium on the nexus 4 as well, I wasn't satisfied with the results it kept lagging for some reason!! Is my phone defected? because I read the description of GTA Vice city on the play store, It stated the the game was also tested on a LG Nexus 4.
Any suggestions?
Galaxy S2 runs the game with lower resolution textures so that's why it may be running smoother.
On the other hand, I agree with you regarding Nexus 4's performance. It runs the game on medium settings at like 25fps, which is playable but not really what I expected. The biggest problem is thermal throttling as it forces the CPU to run much slower than it is capable of.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Any chance you can link the play store to what game you are running just to make sure I am testing the right one?
I haven't heard of many problems with gaming .... Maybe the game doesn't like 4.2?

I'm running with all settings maxed and only a couple times my fps gets awful but its mostly smooth. Try tuning back the draw distance.

Signs of Aging?

I'm considering different tablets and I'm wondering how well the nexus 10 is aging. How's the processor compare to more modern devices? Is it still smooth running KK ROMs? What can it be OCed to? Thanks for any input/advice you could give a potential buyer this late in the device's life cycle.

Hi,
I believe Nexus 10 is still not showing big signs of aging, I mean, the screen is still great, the processor still runs fine everything I need (games like Modern Combat 4, Ravensword Shadowlands, GTA SA [max graphics settings], Cytus and Deemo run perfectly fine with no lag at all!).
The only thing that most people complain and they are right is that due to the huge screen resolution Google allocated 1GB RAM to graphics, which makes it only 1GB RAM. And that means that some apps will close just after you exit them and open another (happens a lot with Chrome tabs too, when I'm with 7-8 tabs open, one or another will need to reload).
I don't know about others tablets yet, I didn't have the chance to check how they perform against Nexus 10. Just don't let benchmark scores scare you, just because one device performs 40k points that doesn't mean it is the best thing ever. Sometimes my Nexus 10 looked more fluid (specially when watching videos) than my S4, while my S4 performed 28-29k points, Nexus performed 24k.
Also there was a video comparing Nexus 10 to Galaxy Note 10.1 2014, due to crappy Samsung software Nexus opened apps faster and was more fluid. The screen had some differences too, Note colors looked more vivid, but that's more of a personal thing.
And for KitKat ROMs, as KK is official it's running perfectly fine. I'm on CM11 after formatting and it was the best thing I ever done to my device. It's blazing fast and does everything I need. And I have no ideas about OC, personally I never used as there was no need.
Just to finish now, Nexus 10 is on the end of Google's 18 month support policy, so if you want to get a Nexus I'd wait for next Nexus 10, as it will have again support. Personally I think that 18 month is now a ridiculous thing, as 2012 Nexis still run perfectly fine, and they can support easily a next update.

Something To Consider **Gulps**

So apparently the official android marshmallow 6.0 is finally out today on the Nexus 5/6/9, so I decided to go ahead and search for reviews and I stumbled upon this video it's Nexus 6 on M (3gb ram) vs note 5 on Lollipop (4gb of ram) keep in mind it's also running TouchWiz and it's leaving nexus 6 marshmallow 6.0 in the dust... whyyy!!! So what can I expect from my new Nexus 5x 2gbs... I know I know... it's been discussed before and it's said that it would be fine but....guys I'm starting to reconsider my purchase as much as I wanted to love my phone I knew the truth would come out and everyone that was complaining about 2gbs of ram was right.... if the vanilla android 3gbs of ram is losing to touch wiz 4gbs than imagine only 2gbs...?

I didn't bother watching the video, all I'm going to say is wait until you have the phone in hand and get to try it yourself before passing judgement. If you don't like the performance you have 2 weeks to return for a refund. I'm one of the individuals that wanted the 5X to have 3GB RAM, but less because its actually needed at this point and more for future proofing. The N5 is still a smooth running excellent phone at 2 years old, I'm not sure the same will be said of the 5X in 2017, but I'm still looking forward to having a nexus again.
I thought the nexus 6 compared well to the note 5. Hard to believe that was stock marshmallow and not the dev preview. The lag and black screens that happen before launching apps don't happen on my Nex5 while on 6.0. My Nex5 I think was almost as fast as the note 5.

I, too, am with you on this. I'm on the n5 and marshmallow has been good in terms of smoothness. There are some minor problems but that's expected for a new major release

Ram has nothing to do with what you saw in this video.
The note 5 has the best processor of 2015... (1.9ghz 14nm chip). This is why its so much faster than the nexus 6 which uses a much older 28nm chip.
So should I be scared of an SD808 vs the big brother SD810??
Thanks in advance!!

If anything, people are actually having issues with the 810 because it gets too hot.

SD810 allows for EIS, the smart burst feature, and slo-mo @ 240fps on the 6P. If you don't care about that stuff then SD808 is fine
I consider it to be the fact the Nexus 6 is probably stock so the device has encryption enabled. So it isn't really a fair comparison. I would like to see the Note 5 encryption enabled then done again.

I'm not concerned, at least not yet. Here's a run test of the Nexus 5 vs Nexus 6, both running marshmallow.

That note 5 has the fastest soc out there and the fastest ufs storage of any android phone, so it'll have no trouble launching apps quickly, the amount of ram has nothing to do with this.
Why are you even trying to compare this to the 5x? The 5x has a slower cpu, slower storage, slower ddr3 ram... of course it'll be slower, doesn't matter if it has the latest os either. You want the fastest phone out there? Its called the s6/note5.

Regarding RAM management, the Nexus clearly wins here. The Note has more RAM and is constantly reloading Apps while multitasking... This is the typical Samsung crap.
2GB should be fine for 1080p...

That's a bug and i had it on my nexus 5 on the 5.1+ builds, my nexus 10 also has the same issue but my spare nexus 4 doesn't... weird huh.
Just flashed 6.0 on my n5 and its gone... finally.

Not necessarily. There's videos clearly showing the Note 5 needing to reload apps after 6-7 while a phone like the LG G4 doesn't.

Its still a bug, some people on the nexus 5 didn't experience it, some did, nothing could explain that. The note 5 clearly has it, my friends asus zenfone 2 and nexus 7 doesn't have it, go figure.

It's not a bug for the Note 5. All a person needs to do for the Note 5 is change some things a viola never happens again. It requires root and Samsung just has their memory management too aggressive.

Buying a Nexus 7

Delete
I bought a Nexus 7 for like 2-3 weeks. It supports OTG, but the only issues I have seen so far is that the newer versions of Android don't run that well on it, being an aging tablet. It came with stock 5.1 which ran horribly, then I installed 6.0 and now it runs pretty stable but still, some hiccups are noticeable. I suggest you to use JellyBean or KitKat, the only reason for you to install a newer version being the new features or something you want in particular.
Hope I helped you
