I've seen a few people mention that they aren't using Moto or Ambient Display, so my question is: what are you using to get notifications without turning on your screen? I've tried the 2 apps I could find that were supposedly supposed to enable the hidden led, but neither worked well. So is there an xposed module or some other method y'all are using? Thanks in advance.

How is ambient display triggered? Does it always display a notification or does it use proximity sensors or gyro to turn on when it's picked up or pulled out of pocket? Mine almost never works.

I'm not sure we are understanding each other. Earlier, you said that you use ambient display, but now you say that ambient display doesn't work on our devices. Why would you use a feature that doesn't work instead of just turning it off?

Earlier I said Ambient Display was working on my tablet and works well. The only thing it does on this phone is come on and off a few times after the notification.

Anyone know how to do this so Google now responds when the screen is off? Or do we need to wait for a root?
I would rather cut out the middle man (moto voice) when using touchless voice controls. I have it working for except when the screen is off.

So I just got my phone and am having an issue. When on call pulling the phone away from my face doesn't turn screen on. That might be my glass screen protector. But hitting the power button doesn't wake it either and volume during call doesn't work. I can't hang up or anything until the call disconnects. Anyone have a clue?

Yup your screen protector is blocking the proximity sensor take it off problem solved

But then why doesn't the power button wake the phone or be able to adjust volume?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Because the phone thinks it is next to your ear. Why would you need to turn the phone on when it's next to your ear.
Check the accessory section there's a whole thread about screen protectors that work and Dont work

I don't have an answer about the volume buttons but I know that when the proximity sensor is activated during a call, nothing will turn on the screen. Not even the power button.
Your ambient display is borked with it on too. Take it off if you want the phone to work properly. I had the same issues.

Ambient display is off and I still have the issue. I have always been able to turn the screen on by the power button on every phone I had. How can I turn off the face proximity sensor for call so I can use the power.

Ambient display isn't related to the function of the proximity sensor while in a call, and I don't know of any way to disable the sensor. If your screen protector covers the proximity sensor, the best I can tell you is to take it off and find one with a cut out for the sensor.

You've probably never had a screen protector with a manufacturing defect either. This is actually the first phone I've ever heard of having messed up screen protectors.
Go to accessibility options and check power button ends call to mitigate the issue if you don't wanna remove the protector

Nexus 6 had this same exact issue and most people said it didn't become a problem until 5.1.1. But either way. Only fix is ditching the screen protector for one that has the cutout

Does this phone has an rgb notification LED and could it be controlled with root?

It can be controlled with root, but cannot be used for notifications. If we get a custom kernel, then maybe... for now its just used to indicate when the battery is charging but not charged enough to turn the phone on.

Its not a notification light. It's charging indicator light. Your battery level must be near 0% if you wanna see it. Or you can use an app from post above yours if you wanna enable it as charging Iight whenever you charge your phone.

Try do discharge your battery to 0%, let it shutdown by itself and then plug the charger. See if that works.

Unfortunately this "hidden" LED light is in fact only used by the stock OS to show you that the battery needs to be charged when the phone doesn't have enough power to light the screen.
If you ask me a pretty dumb way of using this beautiful LED light... I hope someone writes a custom rom for the dt2 and moto x force that allowed this once we are able to achieve root and bl unlock.. Good luck guys
Hi, any news on this?
Anyone know how to disable the feature that turns your screen off when you touch or cover the top left hand corner right above the display... It's like a proximity sensor or something and it bugs me because if I reach for the pull down bar my screen turns off and I have to re fingerprint and it slows what I'm trying to do down.. Is there any fix?
All I see is the display setting "keep screen turned off". I'm not sure if it'll work but worth a try.

I've noticed the AOD goes with how the room is...so if it's dark it's going to look really dark. I put my phone in a my drawer and the screen went completely dark. AOD only works when there's light. In the dark it's really dim.

Yes it a frustrating, I have not been able to get it to work either...also S-health does not work. Two apps that I really liked. Hopefully both will get fixed soon.
