At the moment it seems like I'm getting around 5 minutes per percent (around 8 hours of constant use). The weird thing is that seems to be the case across all use, I get the same results from web browsing as I do reading comics in airplane mode.

I get pretty incredible standby though with set cpu. I'll go to work and come back after eight hours or more with one or two percent gone.
Yeah the standby life is amazing

set cpu app helped me get amazing stand by times. i mean i lose 1% every 24 hours propably.
during normal use, i get average 4-6 hours. surfing youtube, downloading, playing games. usually 5 is about right. People who say they get 8-10 hours heavy use are on one.
I would agree with 4-6 hours with constant use such as reading or twitter browsing. I previously had a Nook Color with CM7 on it and got about the same. Standby is amazing I almost never turn it off.
After about an hour of surfing or playing a game I lose about 20% so about 5 hours. But when watching videos I get around 7 or 8 hours

This sounds awesome I just got 48 hrs on included 4--5 hrs of use. Down to 2% ... wifi is set to go off with screen (after 1 min) not. Sure wat else to change
Hmmm. I was hoping that rooting/SetCPU/screen settings could get me closer to 8 hours of life, but that's not the case. I'll probably just sell the Iconia since the battery life is my main reason for owning a tablet, and in this case it isn't that much better than my laptop.
Run time.
52 hrs. %79 & moderate use. Never shut it off & still testing. Want to see how long it can go until I reach %30.
not trying to be an ass, but what are you guys using your tabs for? i run taboonay rom with thor kernel and good to very good battery life. I use my tablet all day long at work for e-mails, pdf viewing, gaming when i shouldn't be, and playing around on the internet. I wake up at 5 am everyday unplug my tab and start the day. With said usage i can go from 6ish AM till almost midnight and still have 20-30 something percent battery left. I wouldn't say i use it hard core, but i put it work. Just charge it while your asleep and it should last all day. Now on the occasion i watch movies on it it does drain the battery like a bastard but i can still get 5-7 hours of non stop movie watching on it. I really can't complain about the iconias battery at all. If you expect this thing to run like Carl Louis all day long without plugging it in you're in lala land. Theres alot of threads on how to get rid of cell usage drain, and look at whats killing your battery it may be an app or something you did settings wise to drain it faster.

Completely agree, I got mine on Saturday and apart from the initial charge it's only been plugged in twice. Used on and off throughout the day on Sunday, most of Monday evening, all Tuesday evening and all Wednesday evening, playing games and on the web with a bit of youtube and playing around. First time charged at 35% on Monday evening, second time yesterday at about 11pm as it was down to 10%. I think that's pretty damn good myself. It's on OTA 3.1 and Rooted
As for comparing to netbooks, have a look at the size of the battery in a Netbook compared to the Iconia. Of course they're going to last similar amounts of time - The Iconia has a smaller battery but has less to power versus the netbooks larger battery with more devices to power.
I'm at 67% after about 27 hours with about 2 hours of actual use. I guess that's ok. I flashed the Minimalist rom on Tuesday so I probably haven't given the battery enough time to break in. Sorry for being a *****, I'm just impatient >.<
I was kind of afraid if it would last me through a day of classes when college starts back, but I think I'll be ok.
I was getting around 5 days total with 1 to 2 hours display usage before the update to 3.1. Now it only goes 2 days when on standby with less than an hour of usage. Going to download SetCPU and try that. I have not changed anything (widgets) since before the update, so I have no idea what's eating up the battery.
Does anyone use there tablet in this post?Lol
I use my tab all-day long and I usually have 20% by the end of the day.

I'm using SetCPU as well, but getting no where near what you say. I left it on sleep last night and it drained 15% - same as before.
But, maybe I'm not using it right. I enabled the "screen off" profile and dropped the speed.
What are you doing/setting to get that standby time?

Ok, I activated a couple more profiles including "time", temp, low battery. Low battery definitely turned on and I saw the change in the icon on the bottom right. I think the "screen off" is not turning on - basically can't see it when the screen is really off . But, it's definitely draining the same amount of battery.
Am I doing something wrong?

SetCPU didn't help mine either. Tried a few different profiles. I thought the one that would help the most is Screen Off, I set it max and min to 216mhz. No difference in battery drain overnight.
I just got this phone, instantly updated to jellybean, still did a factory reset to help with little issues that happen sometimes on android updates ... and the battery life is terrible. Nothing at all like everyone is bragging about. I even made a lot of smart actions to try to help (i.e. put in airplane mode when I'm not using it, 4g off when wifi on, background data only when using phone, etc.).
I'm getting around 2h and 45 min of screen on time. And it still loses around 12-15% overnight with airplane mode on. No apps downloaded or settings synced from account.
Are there other things I could check?
Facebook freezing and FC constantly too.

I also found it took about 3 weeks for the battery to settle down and really give good long life on each charge. Now I'm super impressed with battery life of this gem of a phone...
Hmm ... I'm debating on sending it back. How was your battery life in the beginning?
No one experiencing huge facebook issues? Some other apps seem to take awhile to load.

Seeing you had 2-3 hrs on screen time, its no wonder the battery is dying on you. At first I found the battery life ok, would get through the day, but as I used it more the battery seemed to settle and now get 2 days a charge...BUT as with everything concerning battery this is relative.
I don't sync pretty much anything. I don't sync gmail, facebook, etc...which i know do take up substantial battery life. One thing I've found with this phone from using CPU Spy (app), is that when it goes into deep sleep, it really uses no battery power...I mean NONE! The other day at work it was just sitting on my desk doing nothing for 3 hours and went from 90% at 9am to 90% at 12 noon.
Battery is great on this phone...

I've had this phone for about a month now and my battery life is incredible. Better than I ever expected. I'm getting 2 full work days out of a single charge. I can suggest an app that I'm convinced works very well for Motorola's as this is the second one I've had. 2x battery saver seems to work better than juice defender. Cutting off background data when the phone is idle will help out a lot and that app does that very well. Smartactions should also be kept to a minimum. My phone uses virtually no battery when it is idle. If you play around on the internet a lot then its gonna drain your battery. For mostly talking and texting, its great.
Same problem but it does get resloved
When I got my razr m it had the same battery problem, but with time it will start holding more of a charge. It takes roughly month, and now i'm getting two days easily with it.
Yep. The battery here is unbelievable. I used ~1gb data, about an hour of calls and a few games for bout 30 min or so. Oh and some music. About 1.5 hours to charge and 2 days battery. Best battery life I have seen since the Nokia 1700 with net ten. Really. Its that good.
And I mean straight out the box. I bought it on Thursday last week and charged it maybe 3 times.
Charged it on Tue at 830 or so till bout 10 central standard time. I got 35% right now. I'm TRYING to kill it before I go to bed. I'm not very optimistic. Outstanding battery. Shoot, unheard of. 4.1.1
Oh and PS. I ain't rooted it yet either.

To speed the settling in process.
Use the phone unit it dies. And then Charge it fully with no interruptions. Dont unplug and replug.
I had 4 of these going through my place now.
My girls, Mines and 2 from friends.
My girl's was settled in well when we received it already.
Mines took 1 week to settle in. My 2 friends took 1 weeks with that Calibration process and the other took 4 weeks of normal usage.
The phones battery is a monster !!!
2 hours worth of phone calls Screen is on time 3 hours, 16h wifi, I am at 40% and been off the charger for 17 hours.
The battery on this thing is great! One thing Motorola does better than any other manufacturer. I'm getting all weekend off a charge as my phone pretty much runs off wireless

The i is more efficient when using it acctionally by 5%
Heavy usage the M is by 3% better, at conserving battery but the i is faster on heavy usage on large application
I have to get the screen shots we got few weeks ago.
Also the i tends to suck more power on some apps due to the emulation. But is not slower in anyway.
They are marginally almost the same.
Its just where u need the Processing power to be.
Heavy need of processing power the i is very competitive on single 3D apps
Need 100% compatibility with the apps store use the M with its ARM CPU
1.5 ARM Dual core or 2.0 Hyper Thread Single Core
I'm getting AMAZING battery life on my RAZR M. I get through the entire work day (lots of voice calls, wifi usage, bluetooth, maybe 1.5 hrs of screen time total) and still have about 35% remaining before I go to bed (about 15 hrs of usage). I even try to kill the battery by watching videos at home, putting the screen brightness on 100%, still havent managed to kill the battery.
So far very impressed with this phone, especially compared with my old Galaxy SII on TMobile

I've got rule in SmartActions.
If screen off - then turn off mobile data.
My battery life has been pretty good. However, the number one thing consistently using battery is "Android System". Is this normal? Thanks!
Same here. On all my other Android phones Screen is the top user.
U are using ips technology on the screen unlike amold that saamy used which kills the battery in hours in full brightness . As you could see that the iPhone has good batttery life because the 720p ips screen.

I've found that rebooting the phone after taking it off of charge, the battery life is awesome. There seem to be some wakelocks that kill the battery and for some reason, charging has something to do with it.
I don't know if this is why, but I heard the G2 has special screen technology that greatly reduces battery drain.

Yeah, somthing about 30% lower battery use or something like that. It's 6 hours since I took mine off the charger, must admit very moderate use, some toying, some photos, some mails and 1 phone call. but still, my phone is at 96% battery. My old S2 would be at 60% at this point.

Over 48 hours of use, more than 50% battery left. 3,5 hours screen time. Android system worst offender with 35%, screen 2nd with 25%.

If you look at the programs listed under Android System, try uninstalling the ones that you would never use. This has seemed to help me. But to be honest it was kind of unnessary because the battery life is just crazy badass. In a few weeks or so when the devs have there way this phone is going to be epic.
It is two things, which by the way are great news.
A) LG's screen tech which doesn't refresh pixels when the images are static
and B) IPS
What we can't control is screen power consumption, but guess what? We can control android system consumption through kernels and roms. This means that we can *hopefully* expect EVEN BETTER! battery life since the screen is, for 80% of users, the main culprit for energy drain.
Just a quick note that flashing CleanROM on my ATT LG G2 basically took my battery life from <20% at the end of the workday to just under 80% at the end of the work day with increased use on the CleanROM install. Highly recommended.
Been off the charger since 6:50 this morning. Sitting here at work doing some texting, Words With Friends, and a test call for a co-worker...96% at 12:15pm. My Nexus would have been at 40% by now.
So is Android System different from Android OS?
I normally can squeeze out 15-22 hours since installing Snapdragon Battery Guru. Which has been working great until today.
Here's my situation today:
-100% charge at around 1230am. Light to moderate usage leaves me with
-77% between night before and waking up (only dropped like 2% overnight) at
-830, then i worked from 9 to 1230 so i didnt use my phone too much. But since ive been off work ive been using it more so im not too surprised about my low battery level currently.
But what concerns me is Android OS using half my battery! It says its been active for more than 4 hours and i dont understand where it comes from. Its way more than my screen usage even with a screen time of little over 3 hours.
Anyone know whats up with Android OS? It doesnt tell me what is running when i select it so im lost.
Also ive done many of the suggestions in this thread with positive results. Ive been monitoring my wakelocks and since doing some of the suggestions on here nlpcollector has actually gone down.

Just to benchmark .... I used the phone moderatley ..
I did.. a little over 50 hours of total on time
4.75 hours of on screen time,
2 hours of spotify with bluetooth for the entire time,
2 hours of MapMyRun with GPS running ..
then various text messaging and a couple phone calls
The only modifications i've made to the stop experiance is taking of google's location service for programs, but leaving GPS active .. and changing the screen to auto-brightness, baseline of 50%.
I came from the SGS2 ..... with 1 hour of on screen time and the other spotify and bluetooth .. i'd be around 10-20% after 8-10 hours !!!!!
Mines pretty awesome.

I'm not sure if my battery is defective or not. Right out of the box was around 75% and I drained it until it turned off then charged it to full.
Over the next few days at work it's on wifi and then on 3G/4G before /after work. I pull it from the charger at 7:30am and by 7pm its at 40%. Then on Friday night I unplugged it at 12am with 100% and woke up the next day with 80%. It's dropping like 1% about 10-15minutes. Would a factory reset fix the battery drain? or call for a replacement?

Hi!
I have a relatively new Nexus 4, which I got NIB about 6 months ago. The battery life is ok for a phone with these specs, it easily lasts 1.5-2 days, depending on usage. But my screen on time is really bad: I rarely get more than 3 hours, usually more like 2-2.5 hours when reading emails, Twitter and Facebook (no games). Everything is fully stock, I have very few apps, and other than really bad screen on time can't complain.
Reading about people having 4-6 hours of screen on time, I wonder what I could do to improve mine. I'm so upset because of this issue, that started thinking about selling my Nexus and buying a Motorola I would appreciate your suggestions!

There are the usual fixes:
Turn off as much syncing as possible
Turn off location / bluetooth / nfc
Turn down brightness (although auto is relatively smart)
Beyond that, not sure how you only get 2-3
You can try apps that monitor battery usage more closely to get a better idea of what is actually draining your battery so quickly

Well, it would seem that the screen eats the battery, as I only get very poor battery life when the screen is on, otherwise the phone lasts ~2 days on a single charge with WiFi, 3G and GPS on. The brightness is set to auto, but I still get only 2-3 hours of screen usage with really simple apps (Chrome, Twitter, sometimes Facebook) and then the battery dies.

2-3 hours of screen time is normal.
You got to take into consideration;
this phones battery is NOT big, its small.
This phone has an LCD screen, the power is going to run out much FASTER than OLED screens.
Be happy you get 2-3 hours. Some people can barely get one.
I get 4+hour but with 6 hours total battery time. I can also get 1 1/2 days of light usage.
This phone isn't going to give you 5+ hours screen time on top of 12+ hours of battery life. Its just not gonna happen.

I get about 4 hours of on screen time with moderate gaming with CM rom.
Biggest difference compared to stock is that a lot of the services that run on stock are not installed or turned on.
Apps that constantly check in email/facebook/etc.. can drain things as well. Increasing the interval between checks, or disabling it altogether and just doing it manually would help.
BetterBatteryStats can help you narrow down what is giving you the biggest drain.

i can agree with you: my girlfriend and me got both a nexus 4. she has to charge her phone every day when she comes from school and also get not more than 2,5h screen on time. her phone is completely stock and loaded with a lot of beauty-apps, lol.
i rooted my nexus 4 and run paranoid android beta 6 with the stock gapps package and the hells.core b44t3 at the stock settings and iam getting at least 5h screen on time when useing my phone for about 20h-30h. iam just useing whtsapp, messenger, facebook, instagram, web browsing and google+, not playing games with it. i also tunred 3g off and use only wifi or 2g, because these apps dont need 3g necessarily.
I figured we could get this started, so we can start to post stats and screenshots once you finish initial setup/installation and get into regular daily use.

The phone arrived at around 40-45%. Spent around 2 hrs updating/installing/customizing stuff which was enough to drop the battery to 15%. Mind you that almost all factory settings were still there like vibrate on almost everything and sound on almost everything. Battery was fully charged rather quickly. I had around an hour of SoT before going to bed with around 80-75%. I woke up to a 70% battery after 10 hrs ( I slept in).
I think battery on mine could be improved by turning down the Google Now settings. It is the most power hungry in the battery stats at 9%. Oddly, the location icon is almost always on even if I'm not doing any location related tasks. I'm hoping to look into this more and fully test the battery tomorrow when I go to Sta. Cruz.
The Idol 3 just won't die! I'm using it around the house. Haven't actually put a sim card in it yet, so that might explain some of the great battery life that I've been getting. But this is the first full power cycle after getting it on Saturday. Auto brightness, full sync. I had to stop at 11% so I could do a charge test today. But I have no doubt that this 11% could have gotten me another hour of screen on time. Tons of streaming Sirius too over the front facing speakers (like 5 hours). Very impressed so far. The price is justified by the screen and the speakers alone in my opinion. Add great battery life to the mix and it's a pretty special device IMO.
Charging time is done. Used an Anker 2.0 Quick Charge (just to make sure it got the maximum it could handle). Went from 11% to 100% in 2 hours and 28 minutes. Not too shabby considering how long it holds on to the charge.
Bettery drain while on wifi
Hi, I have bad battery drain while on wifi. What I noticed is that cell signal goes from empty to full while unlocking screen. It goes up to 10% per hour. But when I was away from home for few hours on lte, it was very minimal. Any ideas? Software bug or maybe some app is causing that? Thanks!

Did you do the update that appeared as soon as you turned it on out of the box? I had the phone on wifi all weekend (it never left the house) and the battery life was amazing. See my posts above. And I did the update first thing when I got mine.

Yeah, that's the first thing I did. Today I'm on LTE all day long and battery is amazing. But when on Wi-Fi my cell signal goes to emergency back and forth. Maybe my phone is a lemon

I should have checked the battery life before loading all my apps but I forgot. During sleep hours I only have the wifi, auto sync and phone antenna enabled. I also either use the adaptive brighness at 50% or have the brightness set to about 20% with adaptive disabled. The first night I checked the battery overnight usage it was down 16% in 10 hours. That was also runny 3 apps on the notification area. The drain comes to 1.6% per hour. The next night I removed the 3 apps that run in the notification area and the drain was 10% in 8 hours, which comes to 1.25% per hour. That's better than my old phone but I still think it's too high. No apps are open in the recent apps screen.
Is anyone getting better or worse? I would like to compare my battery drain with everyone else.
Edit: I did disable Wifi Network Notification and Scanning Always Available. I'm not sure what kind of effect they have on the battery though.

Did you wipe your cache after the OTA update? I remember my Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 had temporary issues with battery life that were cleared up by a wiped cache/factory reset.

It didn't work. That's too serious issue for me. Sending back to amazon. I'll stay with my G3 and 6000mAh battery. Waiting for G4 price drop

I have the HTC m8 and g3, had the m9...
I think you have a problem with Google apps...Because with the m8 I had 7 hours screen on time in 24 hours, 6 hours with the m9, 5 hours with the g3...
And every reviewer criticizes the bad battery life of the g3 vs the very good battery life of the idol[emoji2]

Yesterday was my first battery experience day. I have to say it turned out pretty good. I got roughly 16hrs from 100% charge down to 15% charge. I got a battery warning when i was headed to bed. Throughout the day, here's a list of the things I did in general to give a scope on usage:
* I had all services on, LTE, Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS (High precision)
* i used it to read a kindle book. I had my screen set at about 80% brightness the whole day.
* I have "Automatic" app which uses the phone GPS to track my drives to and From work.
* I ran with Runkeeper GPS
* also streamed music to and from work on my wohle commute (roughly 45 minutes).
* Then throughout the day did normal checking of various apps and websites, and notifications.
* In general during the work day I don't use it much from 9-5, except maybe to check it once an hour , and read a little.
Previously on my Nexus 4, I would have had to have it charging all the way to work. Then charging all the way home, and many times it wouldn't make it to bed time without another charge. With the Idol 3, i didn't put it on a charger once throughout the whole day. Pretty awesome.
This is my second full day. I expect that it will improve after a few cycles but I have absolutely nothing to complain about. WiFi on most of the day. 2 Gmail accounts syncing, Bluetooth on, display only at 50%, (not to save battery, but just because I don't need it any higher)
I have a few small hiccups with the DTTW but it isn't terrible.
P.S. This blows away my Zenfone 2 in battery life.
Battery life is ridiculously good. Charging my phone is no longer a pressing issue for me nowadays. Personally, I am indoors most of the day so I have set my screen brightness to 0% and it is perfectly fine. When I am outdoors, I will pump up the brightness to 100% which increases the battery consumption noticeably.
I've had the phone for a week and a half and still have never gotten down low enough for Battery Saver mode to kick in.
For me battery hold amount of charge EOD.
100% in morning around 10 AM.
1. wifi/4g ON all the time.
2. GPS during commute to work and vice-versa
3. Music app for 1.5-2 hrs.
4. played game for 2 hrs.
5. normal browsing.
Now @ 7 PM : still 45% left.
For those still unhappy with the battery life here are a few free apps that can help:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.gpo.greenpower&hl=en [ Battery saver...does things like only keep wifi on periodically to check for hotspots and only turn on bluetooth when charging etc ]
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vitocassisi.luxlite&hl=en [ Adjust screen brightness based on light levels ]
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keyes.screebl.classic [ Keeps screen on when phone is held in upright position but quickly turns screen off when phone is placed flat ]
I use the pay versions of these and consider them worthwhile.
Does anyone know how the automatic brightness works or if its even useful to have it on
