It's been quiet so far, with the exception of a couple stock ROMs. I guess there is a delay from stock images to AOSP images, which most ROM's are based.

At least you were able to cancel and get something quick. I got the 32gb Alum and I always planned on getting the Alum version. The black is too scratch prone for my liking and the white, well white is boring since every phone manufacture does it.
I'm "happy" with the 6p, but going from the ultra snappy Nexus 6 to this, pretty snappy device is a bit of an adjustment. The size difference isn't a big issue, but the overall feel is quite different in the 6p. That, and the fact I can't use my plethora of micro USB chargers floating around my house.
I'm curious to see where the next Nexus goes in terms of build, I'm hoping for glass personally.

Well I knew @DespairFactor and @flar2 were working on kernels, and I knew you were working on a ROM, so I was curious who else was out there. I miss the days of Carbon on the Nexus 5, not sure why the Nexus 6 wasn't really supported.
Overall, I think Chroma, Cataclysm and Carbon were the most stable of the ROM's out there. Not sure why they all started with "C", though.

Well, to be fair, a custom kernel is often a piece of the custom ROM, so it makes sense to think about kernel developers who support ROM development. I ran Chroma as my daily on N6, so looking forward to seeing Chroma on the 6P once everything is up and running.
Speaking of kernel developers, I believe Franco also got a N6P.
Just got my 6p and had a look at the ROM development section... There's not much out there in terms of custom roms yet so is it worth trying a custom rom at this stage or stick with stock?
Also, does wugfresh work for 6p for rooting?

It's a Conspiracy .. I used to use Carbon myself, the one thing I really enjoyed about Carbon was the fact that the changelog was super friendly to users. I try my best to do the same with my ROM.

That depends, some ROMs (incl. mines on N4/N5) ship with stock Google kernel. For the N6, it used Franco at first and then HellsCore.
I'll probably stick to Google kernel for the time being with some minor tweaks (KCAL, vibration control and maybe some other things).

I think it's more that he's the most well known ROM generator for android since the early days and, to my knowledge, on the front of the curve of new things as well (due to his own skills and also, I believe, due to his fame...people who figure new things out will likely report it to him to get it integrated into his ROMs right away too).
This is good news.
I'm still running a stock ROM. I'm waiting for something big to come out before I flash a new one.

Sense in CM6?
Okay, this is a BURNING question in my brain, someone please answer it.
When CM6 is released for the Evo, will sense be included?
because i've started to really despise sense since i've gotten the Evo, and i really hope CM6 looks and performs exactly the same on the Evo as it does the Nexus.
FYI cyanogen got an Evo yesterday for 300 bucks from someone.
Epic.
Can't wait.

Just for clarifications sake and since I've been around since the G1, Cyanogen was not the first, that title belongs to JesusFreke. Haykuro was the first to bring SenseUI to the G1. Cyan fame-dom came after they took their, either quiet or loud exit. All 3 brought their A game and advanced the rooting community to where it is today.
So anyway...this is definitely good news. I've gotten my EVO in the last couple of days and have been reluctant to root. I'm not the trusting type when it comes to my phone so seeing Cyanogen working on this device makes me much happier. I know with CM roms there will be less forcecloses and MOAR WIN.
I'm excited about this one. The EVO is basically my first Android phone (I had a backflip for a while, but there isn't even a root it) so I haven't used cyanogen in the past, but his reputation is good, and I think his roms are the kind I am looking for. If I understand they are very close to stock AOSP, with some performance tweaks, but with a very high focus on stability, and sometimes more stable than the OEM releases.
I love some of the ROMs we have currently, but it seems like many of the devs value features and speed tweaks over stability.
cyanogen is great, I used his Roms on the Droid and loved them. Can't wait for the Evo release.
Dunno if this should be in Development or not

.... there sure seems to be a fast growing number of people with this unrecoverable boot loop/white screen/possible brick situation.
Seriously, if it were me, I would back off of CM ROMs until the Devs can figure this one out.
I know the last CM Rom I was running last month, I white screened twice and got lucky enough to get out of it with flashing Recovery the 1st time and doing a RUU the 2nd time, but obviously, the problem has gotten worse, based on all the threads and posts that I've been reading the last few days.
Not trying to tell anyone what to do, but I know I can't afford to be without my phone, or pay the insurance to get a new one.
From reading the threads, I don't think its a CM issue, but a memory issue. I thought it was getting tracked down to bad memory blocks...

It's happened on MIUI as well, so it's not just CM.
Honestly, I think this is being blown out of proportion. It seems to have happened to a few people, but it's definitely not a widespread issue among the thousands of people who use CM. I'd be willing to bet it's a hardware issue that is exposed in some way from an AOSP call...
Either way, I'm sticking with CM, come hell or high water.

Could be wrong, but I think that's incorrect. MIUI is from a Chinese dev team, and a handful of devs ported it over. Nothing to do with CM, as I understoodit.

I really think this is an unecessary and harmful thread. I ran CM7 since it started until the other day when I started back at sense (sense= atrocious battery+lag so far, still testing). I didn't have this issue with CM7, some annoying quirks, sure.. but overall really solid.
Maybe it is something in AOSP, maybe not. To call out CM and cause panic without something solid to back it is really irrespobsible and just a nasty thing to do.

Actually, MIUI is more or less a fork of CM. When they started their Gingerbread builds, one of the requirements for a supported phone to receive the Gingerbread update was that it should have a stable CM7 port on top of being popular in China.
They take CM7, then lay their own UI and feature set over it. This is why they have CM features like adjustable auto brightness. They just strip out the features they don't care for, like the render effects.
This also means MIUI inherits CM problems, like choppy video recording and the bootloop of death.
But isn't there disclaimers all over CM7 RC's and nightlies, yea theres probably more chance of a mess up on aosp but i believe its mostly users not paying attention
And if someone thats always cautious did happen to get a brick makes a thread about it, all the others that were and bricked for any reasons just join in and make a really big deal.
anyways thats just my opinion
Obviously, this is only happening to a microcosm of the people using CM.
I didn't start this thread to say that the sky is falling, just that the number of posts is growing exponentially, day by day.
It happened to me, and I got past it. Then I saw one other person a week later who didn't get past it.
Sunday, I counted 6 threads on the issue.
Today, 4 on just the first page of the Q&A Forum.
Instead of accusing this of being the boy who cried wolf, how about looking deeper into the issue to see what's causing it, why it's happening, why it's spreading, etc....

Somehow I can't believe that is the reason. I mean, people are already installing ICS on the N1 from AOSP, without even needing blackrose custom partitions like Sense ports need.
I think people don't want to admit that Google is doing the same thing that Apple does with older hardware. They make it "obsolete" so you're tempted to upgrade. I mean, maybe the G1 is a bit of an extreme case, but not so for the N1.

I guess but at this time with the nexus p there was a lot more development and more then that a lot more development Community involved. I wonder if the Verizon exclusive mixed with Google's inability to keep them in stock on the Play Store the problem.
I think I could care less this time around. I think it has enough mods. The performance on this phone is already unreal. And battery life is more than anyone could ask for
I am bored, however, understanding that an alpha TWRP, beta su, and no xposed yet to be a reasonable impediment for development. Honestly, I am really happy with what is offered so far that maybe I should focus on improving other areas of my life?

Thing is it is a tad pretentious to complain about or suggest that the device isn't meeting expectations because people aren't putting in enough work fast enough to appease someone's desire to flash.
If someone is that impatient they should've stayed where they were and waited until the device matured a bit more.
That's my perspective on it.
