Anyone getting video playback issues on their 6p? YouTube plays at like 1-5 frames per second. I tried watching a movie with MX player and same thing. VLC player plays movies normally, but the audio is gone. Does anyone know what's causing this? It's driving me Absolutely crazy...

Same here since day 1
LMAO, I found out what was causing this. I had flashed lolliViper with the surround sound option. It's not designed for the 6 p at all. It did something's to the speakers which affected video playback. After I reflashed my rom, and used the general generic version of viper, no problems have ever occurred again.

I'm trying to play a .mkv file on my Nexus 7 with MX Player and there's no sound! Is anyone else experiencing this?

I got the same thing. It might be related to the audio codec? The file I was playing is dts

DTS support was removed. BS player plays DTS audio mkvs fine.

Some mkv's have multiple audio channels, click on the musical note icon in the upper right while playing your video to try another channel.

It's not, it's just 7 day trial that's free.
Count me into the list. Tried watching one of my Breaking Bad MKV's last night. No sound. Been using BS player since then. Works great!
I know this is a Nexus 7 thread but I was plagued with the same issue with my Samsung Galaxy S2. I have always used a TouchWiz based ROM whether it was official or a custom ROM as it comes with great video codec support so pretty much any video player app would play anything I threw at it. However, I have recently moved to a non-TouchWiz ROM as I wanted the Jelly Bean goodness. The only problem with this is that my favourite video player app would no longer play my video files. I tried some of the popular video player apps that do software decoding (MX Player, Vplayer) but they all had issues. MX Player wouldn't play audio and VPlayer's video was stuttery and audio/video was out of sync. I was about to give up hope and considered moving back to a TouchWiz ROM even if that meant going back to ICS but then I read this thread and gave BS Player a go. I'm so glad I did as my videos play awesomely perfect again.
I'm not sure what BS Player does differently. It seems to say I am using hardware decoding (BS Player engine) but whatever, it is working great and I love the feature to be able to speed up the video along with audio. Watching some stuff that is fairly slow paced on 130% is a great time saver and hardly makes a difference to viewing experience (depends on what you watch though).
Anyway, just wanted to convey my experiences and hopefully help someone else out in future.
I did the update from stock ( rooted) 4.2.1 to 4.2.2. Now most of the videos are choppy. The best so far is the MX player pro in HW mode. Rest are horrible ( 1080p not 720p those are all fine). The 4.2.1 version was smooth on all the files. My Note II plays fine everything. ( 4.2.1 some HW some software accel). My q's
Any recommended player? BS, MX ,ES etc ( some settings?)
Is this an issue that needs to be addressed by the BS, MX ,ES etc teams?
How about the HW accel in 4.2.2? did GOOG leave it alone?
I thought that the 4.2.2 update was minor and did not go into the guts of the system.
Many thanks
Abe
This is a huge problem. I think it's a driver level issue. The only video player that isn't choppy is Google movies. Of course that works, because you have to pay for it. Any other media player will exhibit some form of frame dropping. Mxplayer with hw+ works pretty well but still drops frames. I've tried to report this issue to Google but they won't even respond.

Problem solved. Went back to 4.2.1.
I'll wait for MX to fix it.
Thanks for your input.

Hi All,
I have noticed a disturbing trend on my new Note 3. The streaming video playback is pretty terrible with just about everything except youtube. Has anyone else experienced this or do I likely have a bad unit? Thanks.

This is sort of expected behavior as apps need to be updated to utilize the Note 3's hardware decoder otherwise it has to be decoded in software which is slower and more battery consuming. What apps and what codec is the video encoded in?
Hmmm it seems strange that poor web video playback would be expected on a device targeted toward video consumers. I have encountered this with every streaming video I have tried to play in both Chrome and the built-in browser, with the exception of Youtube videos.
Have you tired Dice Player? Watching Pacific Rim 1080p right now
Only choppy video is from YouTube. I downloaded a few 1080p movies and trailers and they run flawlessly. So I'm assuming it's the youtube app needing to be updated as well as what exothermic video apps. Mx player works fine as well as the stock player

Hey guys... I updated to 7.1.1 the day it was launched and from that day on my 6P has skipped frames while playing videos on YouTube and locally... It's not an internet issue, but could be that of a codec maybe? Anyone else have this issue?
I haven't gotten that. I have had internet issues but not on YouTube. Rooted.?

I have lag issues on youtube only.
Did not found any fix yet.
Only on 240p, I can watch without lagging.
Very annoying..
