Got my phone on Thursday. Everything has been fine. Have been making phone calls and using OK Google ever since.
Woke up this morning and called Verizon (using my GF's phone) to see if they could get HD Voice/VOLTE working. (I did not make any phone calls from my phone this morning so I can't say 100% that the microphone was working today). Tier 2 support asked me install the My Verizon App. Verizon Rep called my phone, HD calling showed up (but we didn't actually converse over my phone) and we finished up.
Tried to make a phone call from my phone and nothing can be heard coming from my end. Nothing through "OK Google". Nothing when making phone calls on Wi-fi through Google Hangouts.
I've factory reset. I've unrooted/locked bootloader. Gone 100% to stock using these instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928
It would seem as the microphone is dead or muted somewhere.
Is there something obvious that I'm overlooking?
Verizon screwed something up when setting up VOLTE? I would ask them to put it back to the other one and see if that fixes it. Otherwise, replace.

I pulled the SIM from the 6P and put it back into my Nexus 6. The Nexus 6 is working just fine. I'll put the SIM back in the 6P when I get home. Maybe do another factory reset without the SIM in and try OK Google and a Google Hangout call over WiFi.
Is there a possibility there is a setting somewhere in the phone that is not getting wiped when doing a factory reset? Could something have changed in say, the build.prop (for example), that has muted all of the microphones?
Not sure. I'm guessing they could have sent something to the phone. I think there is a dial thing you can do to toggle VOLTE on and off. Let me see if I can find it.

Enter the menu with the dial code and see if you can turn it back off.
I don't have a 6P yet but I had a similar problem with an LG phone. It turned out it was the Google app. I turned off the OK Google feature in settings and the mic began working again. It was fixed in a subsequent app update. Worth a shot.

Hi all, I have two Nexus 4 and I have this problem with both of them. I have got install Viber, Skype and Hangout and this happens with all of them. Basically if my phone is on standby and someone calls me on Hangout (lets say) then on the other person's phone it will show that its ringing but on my phone it wont ring until I wake the phone (by pressing the power button). This only happens if my phone is connected to wifi. My brother has HTC one x and I tried calling him on Hangout and it worked for him. This isnt an issue which occurs only a few times but it happens every time. Same story for Skype and Viber.
Any idea what can be going wrong? This issue is really irritating! I have a feeling this issue has something to do with power saving. The reason I say this is because if my phone is connected to the wall charger and is on standby, it still receives calls perfectly. The issue only occurs when on battery (not connected to wall charger).
Please help

This is a common issue for our beloved Nexus 4, when the screen is turned off , after a few minutes, WIFI will too, that's why we can't receive the call. Hope Android 4.3 will fix it. Or you can follow this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2102986, it fix temporally.
Just check the advanced wifi settings
put wifi always on.
Search... its there

Thank you so much! I tried what was mentioned in the link and it works now. I really hope google resolves this issue in 4.3. This makes me think how much is the OS actually tested before sending it out in the wild.

So stupid me bought a Priv on CL without having the previous owner factory reset the phone and deactivate her account and now I can't login since it's asking for the last persons Google credentials. I tried texting and calling her to no avail (not sure if she's sleeping or just ignoring me), either way I'm not to sure what to do now. I tried alot of the methods of bypassing the FRP that I found on youtube, but none of them were successful. I was able to get into settings and factory reset from there, but that either only bypasses FRP on Nexus devices or this was patched up in the February or March security update.
Can anyone help? I beginning to think I just wasted my hard earned money on a phone that can't even be used

Do you know for sure that it was her phone? Also did you factory reset the phone or she did in front of you?

Well her google account was logged into the phone, I remember seeing the emails I sent her when I first picked up the phone. Also the IMEI is still clean, so I assume if the phone was really stolen it would be blacklisted by now.
And I did the factory reset on the way back home after she was gone
how did you get into settings?

You put a sim card into the Priv, call the Priv with a different phone, add a call, dial *#*#4636#*#*, hit usage statistics, then hit back. That should bring you into settings.

Need Help
Hello Guys,
I tried instruction below but they are not working anymore.
Someone? Something? I will much appreciate any help and sugestions.
Thanks,
Rob
Rooted G900V with MM 6.0.1. Trying to enable Advanced Calling and I get the message that it is already enabled on my line and to power off and back on my device. Still doesn't work. Is this just a known issue with a rooted device or is there some trick to get it working? I saw a post about toggling Global to LTE and I'm trying that and so far, I have a status that says upgrade in progress and you will receive a message shortly when upgrading complete but things have not progressed from there (so far).

no good ideas, eh?
If you aren't on Verizon service it won't work is what I have heard pretty much everywhere and from everyone
---------- Post added at 10:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:19 PM ----------
If you are on Verizon service try temporarily disabling root and see if that works
if youre not on verizon service it wont work. if you are just call them and ask them to refresh your 4g preferred roaming list or PRL. if they dont know what you mean hang up and get another rep. if that doesnt work pull your battery then pull your sim then try to power on without it and then put it back in and power back on. youll eventually get it, i went through that for months
This is strange but I occasionally have a problem where this happens (advanced calling previously works then is grayed out and it quits working for no apparent reason). What I have found fixes it on a rooted phone is you backup the settings storage app with titanium backup then restore the data from the backup you just made then reboot. For some reason this fixes it for me. I know this is an old thread but hope this info helps someone else having this issue.
I bought a new S8 in Greece, and in the first two 24 hours I had it, my interlocutors on the phone were complaining that during our call sometimes they could not hear me.
I went back to the store and the employee told me that he was aware of the problem (interruptions during calls) and that this even happened in his own S8. He said there was an issue because the device was from another EU country (mine was from Italy) and when it makes the OTA update something is happening. So they sent it to Samsung and after 1 week I got it back. They have made a ROM update.
I'm starting to setup it again, and in the beginning I am receiving a message that a SIM change was detected and I had the option of either continuing or resetting in the factory settings. I chose the 2nd (probably this was a mistake - I'm not sure if I actually "canceled" the update made by Samsung).
The point is that the problem has remained. I went back to the shop and they suggested to fully refund me, which I accepted.
I go to another shop and buy a new S8 device. I put SIM while being on the store, again the same problem! We test the employee's SIM, and it seems that in the call I have made, it worked ok.
So I believed it was my SIM that had a problem. I replace it, the problem continues. I am choosing a fixed type of network (eg 2G) and not automatic switching (3G / 4G etc) and the problem is somehow better, although again the interlocutors complain to me that they lose me while we speak.
I'm calling to an Authorized Samsung Service. They tell me they know the issue and that there has been a formal instruction from Samsung which says that a specific version of ROM needs to be installed to solve it.
Has this problem happened to anyone else?

Well in Cyprus we had the same issue with call interruption but all seemed fixed on July`s update. Call was interrupted no voice or sound could get through the phone and a restart was nessescary to solve the issue. Is the phone updated to the latest firmware?

Everytime I reproduced the problem wifi signal was the issue. So maybe that wifi hd call was or is the issue. Could be wrong though about your issue

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Yes the phone is updated to the latest firmware. It seems to me that it's not exactly the same problem since although during voice calls the others tell me that they hear me with some interruptions, after the call the device operates normally (all sounds) and there is no need to restart...
I don't also think it is related somehow with the WiFi and in my device there was no option at all to enable wifi HD call...
Got my phone from Sprint, activated it Monday and I keep getting repeat texts. I've called them and had my network settings reset on their end, I've reset the network settings on my phone, updated profile and profile, rebooted phone, everything I can think of. I'm still getting texts, from multiple people/security codes.
Is there anything else I can do?
I am having a similar issue. Yesterday I wondered why my phone appeared to be a bit on the quiet side. Turns out I can send text out just fine, but receiving them has proven a problem...
I was able to get an MMS message from one person, and then a repeat SMS message sent before that MMS on their end, again, again, and again, (At least 30 times so far) every 5 minutes or so until about mid last night...
Today I tried to do a full reprovision which doesn't seem to have done much. I got that same text once again, and the one after it, but I am still not getting anything after that from them, or anyone else who may or may not have texted me....
Not good and I can't figure out if it's a Sprint or Phone issue. :/
I'll like to add on to this, I have experienced the same issue.
I'm on Sprint as well.
There was two days I didn't get any replies from texts I sent out, then when one of them called me all their texts all came in at once, those messages had the times for when they was originally sent.
Even the girlfriend is telling me to return the phone now.
In the past when I've had similar issues I usually texted myself to see if it would send. So on the last day I was having issues I did that, I got back my message, so I'm like okay it works. Then 5 minutes later I got the message again.
Sounds like some quirkiness of the phone working with Sprint's network. The only people I have heard have this issue are Sprint users. I'm on T-Mobile myself and everything works. I did however have to manually correct my APN settings in order to send/receive MMS with WiFi Calling enabled. Have you confirmed your APN settings are correct?
This happens on sprint regardless of the device. Every Android phone I've had since 2008

I think you are right. I didn't necessarily had this issue with every phone but it did happen with Moto X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P and now with Essential phone.
I've never had this issue before on any device on Sprint, and have had Sprint for a long time. Moto photon, HTC one a9, and now this. My wife has had Galaxy S5, note 3, s7, so with no issues
I have the complete opposite problem. I don't get texts for 1 to 2 hours after some one sends it. And I also don't get voicemail notifications. I don't know if I'm just missing something or what.
So, no ideas on how to fix? I've been on chat with Sprint 2x but didn't have time to finish the process. It takes 2+hours

The fix for it is pretty ridiculous but it seems to work:
Simply call someone and have it connect. For some reason this gets it to connect properly to the network. I'd guess it is a provisioning issue but who knows.
(Now if I can only get mobile data to work on all sites and not sporadically)
done that and its temporary, as soon as i get another text they all come in a flood

Guess it was Google voice that was causing the issue. Need to find a new voicemail app
I'm having the same problem I'll text someone but I won't get theirs back until I make a phone call I'm also on Sprint I was on the phone with tech support and told me to take the phone to the store to see if it was defective they ran a diognostic and everything came back good they said if it happens again to call customer service non of them know what to do

Do the online chat, that's where I had the best success. The people in store were 0 help.
Are you using Google voice? Try factory resetting and not using that app
No I'm not using it I did the tech support app they are the ones who sent me to the store
There are two fixes to this:
1. As mentioned previously you can place and connect a random call. The negative is that you need to redo it periodically per need.
2. Change your cellular network to not include LTE (CDMA/EvDo auto or the like) settings-->wireless & networks-->cellular networks
Method 2 also fixes some other cell data issues such as not being able to open certain sites.
The negative is very slow data speed <5Mbps since you are using 3G which is an older wireless standard.
A quick way to see if things are working is to do a speedtest, if there is no upload speed (quick bounce then zero) then something is wrong.
It appears to be a communication/handoff issue and not hardware related so I'd expect a fix to this reasonably soon.

I did that already. It's not the duplicate app notifications from gvoice and messages. It's multiple texts.
I'm not using gvoice anymore and haven't had a problem
