Hi all, I have two Nexus 4 and I have this problem with both of them. I have got install Viber, Skype and Hangout and this happens with all of them. Basically if my phone is on standby and someone calls me on Hangout (lets say) then on the other person's phone it will show that its ringing but on my phone it wont ring until I wake the phone (by pressing the power button). This only happens if my phone is connected to wifi. My brother has HTC one x and I tried calling him on Hangout and it worked for him. This isnt an issue which occurs only a few times but it happens every time. Same story for Skype and Viber.
Any idea what can be going wrong? This issue is really irritating! I have a feeling this issue has something to do with power saving. The reason I say this is because if my phone is connected to the wall charger and is on standby, it still receives calls perfectly. The issue only occurs when on battery (not connected to wall charger).
Please help

This is a common issue for our beloved Nexus 4, when the screen is turned off , after a few minutes, WIFI will too, that's why we can't receive the call. Hope Android 4.3 will fix it. Or you can follow this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2102986, it fix temporally.
Just check the advanced wifi settings
put wifi always on.
Search... its there

Thank you so much! I tried what was mentioned in the link and it works now. I really hope google resolves this issue in 4.3. This makes me think how much is the OS actually tested before sending it out in the wild.

Got my phone on Thursday. Everything has been fine. Have been making phone calls and using OK Google ever since.
Woke up this morning and called Verizon (using my GF's phone) to see if they could get HD Voice/VOLTE working. (I did not make any phone calls from my phone this morning so I can't say 100% that the microphone was working today). Tier 2 support asked me install the My Verizon App. Verizon Rep called my phone, HD calling showed up (but we didn't actually converse over my phone) and we finished up.
Tried to make a phone call from my phone and nothing can be heard coming from my end. Nothing through "OK Google". Nothing when making phone calls on Wi-fi through Google Hangouts.
I've factory reset. I've unrooted/locked bootloader. Gone 100% to stock using these instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928
It would seem as the microphone is dead or muted somewhere.
Is there something obvious that I'm overlooking?
Verizon screwed something up when setting up VOLTE? I would ask them to put it back to the other one and see if that fixes it. Otherwise, replace.

I pulled the SIM from the 6P and put it back into my Nexus 6. The Nexus 6 is working just fine. I'll put the SIM back in the 6P when I get home. Maybe do another factory reset without the SIM in and try OK Google and a Google Hangout call over WiFi.
Is there a possibility there is a setting somewhere in the phone that is not getting wiped when doing a factory reset? Could something have changed in say, the build.prop (for example), that has muted all of the microphones?
Not sure. I'm guessing they could have sent something to the phone. I think there is a dial thing you can do to toggle VOLTE on and off. Let me see if I can find it.

Enter the menu with the dial code and see if you can turn it back off.
I don't have a 6P yet but I had a similar problem with an LG phone. It turned out it was the Google app. I turned off the OK Google feature in settings and the mic began working again. It was fixed in a subsequent app update. Worth a shot.
Rooted G900V with MM 6.0.1. Trying to enable Advanced Calling and I get the message that it is already enabled on my line and to power off and back on my device. Still doesn't work. Is this just a known issue with a rooted device or is there some trick to get it working? I saw a post about toggling Global to LTE and I'm trying that and so far, I have a status that says upgrade in progress and you will receive a message shortly when upgrading complete but things have not progressed from there (so far).

no good ideas, eh?
If you aren't on Verizon service it won't work is what I have heard pretty much everywhere and from everyone
---------- Post added at 10:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:19 PM ----------
If you are on Verizon service try temporarily disabling root and see if that works
if youre not on verizon service it wont work. if you are just call them and ask them to refresh your 4g preferred roaming list or PRL. if they dont know what you mean hang up and get another rep. if that doesnt work pull your battery then pull your sim then try to power on without it and then put it back in and power back on. youll eventually get it, i went through that for months
This is strange but I occasionally have a problem where this happens (advanced calling previously works then is grayed out and it quits working for no apparent reason). What I have found fixes it on a rooted phone is you backup the settings storage app with titanium backup then restore the data from the backup you just made then reboot. For some reason this fixes it for me. I know this is an old thread but hope this info helps someone else having this issue.
I bought this Le Pro3 the first day it came out on the flash sale. I really like this phone but there are some things that are pretty annoying. I fixed a lot of it but some issues are still there.
I have the stock ROM with 5.8.021s
Bluetooth.
Since I had the phone I left the bluetooth on all the time. I never had any issue with the battery draining or anything like that. But with the lasted update 5.8.021s, it seems like the blutooth turns itself off when I am not using it(when I leave my car) and turns itself on again automatically when I go in my car. I understand why they do this, it is to save battery. This would be fine if it worked. The issue that I am having is even though it is turned on by itself, it does not automatically connect to my car. This is an issue with all 3 of my car. I did NOT have this issue before. Is there a way to turn off this feature.
Gmail
I have many emails account but the only email app I use is the official google Gmail app. Randomly the "Auto-sync" will be turned off and I would need to turn it back on again. This is really annoying, when it is off, no email is pushed to me. After I turn it on, it would work for a while and again randomly the auto sync will be turned off. When I say random, it could be within a couple of hour, a day, or a few days. I can't figure out any patterns or what would trigger it. I don't use any auto clean up or anything.
Dropped call
I rarely make any phone call but I noticed that when I do make calls at home I need to turn OFF my wifi on my phone. If I don't I will loose the call within a minute. I am talking about just regular phone call, not though a special app or anything. I don't know if the phone uses wifi calling or anything like that. Even if it does, I don't understand why I would loose the call because I am usually next to the router.
If anyone has any answer or help please let me know.
I dont have any of these issues. Try restoring it from factory settings(if possible for you)
I have none of these issues, and I travel for work and actually -do- use wifi calling off and on here and there. Go to your wifi calling and make sure the wifi calling is turned off. Then do a network reset. Then make sure you do NOT have battery assistant turned on. Then go into the battery settings and make sure you do not have any auto power down or off settings turned of for any clock times.

what's your phone carrier? Does it support wifi calling?
Did you happen to flash any Chinese roms to lose wifi calling feature? If you are on a unmodified software, you better contact LeEco support....

I'm on official US stock version ending in .21s
No, I didn't have to enable the setting to appear. It's simply there and toggled on or off. Perhaps it only shows up if your SIM card is from a carrier that supports it? I've used two different sim cards in my phone (AT&T AND TMOBILE), both of which support wifi calling, and the option for wifi calling was there both times.

Bought the phone on the first day of the flash sale. I have the latest stock rom and have ATT.
I just got this phone and use it on AT&T. I don't have the WiFi calling option. I did use it on my Note 5.
My biggest problem is Android Auto. It didn't work at first so I read on here that resetting it reinstalling the Android Auto app fixes it. I cleared data and cache and it worked the next two times I plugged it in to my car and hasn't since. I tried clearing data and cache again but still no luck.
As discussed you can NOT toggle wifi calling on and off with an AT&T based SIM. This has led to ongoing tech support discussions with LeEco concerning calling issues with my LeEco Pro3, US version.
Specifically, when WIFI is ENABLED (not WIFI CALLING as this isn't functional), outbound call ringing is hit or miss. There's a period of silence and either the call is suddenly answered or disconnects and gives up. If wifi is DISABLED outbound call ringing ALWAYS happens. Compare that to my AT&T branded Note 4 whereby any outbound call rings regardless if wifi is active.
Further, I have had issues with INBOUND calls where my Pro3 does not ring. It's hit or miss and happens regardless of location. First knowledge of a phone call missed is voicemail. Some have dismissed this as the vagaries of cell phones but in my case it seems to happen more frequently than the 'occasional' missed call.
I'm starting to wonder if the outbound and inbound issues are related, and whether there's some inherent software problems related to ringing when wifi is present and functional. Obviously disabling wifi looks to be a workaround, albeit a poor one since I'm on a limited data plan whereby it's easy to forget to turn wifi back on.
No outbound ringing is simply an annoyance I can live with but the failure of inbound ringing is simply unacceptable. I'll probably sell this phone and have gone back to a Note 4.
Twrp backup
Hi Can anyone please perform a stock twrp backup for their handsets. I am in a soft brick and it would be greatly appreciated.

Something on the ascend is killing hangouts after the phones goes to sleep. Its not a hangouts issue, but the phones.
What apps can I freeze that manage phone background processes? (On stock rom)

Check phone manager and see if hangouts is selected to be killed when the screen turns off to save battery.
Ya everything seems to be checked, its checked as a protected app and is allowed to run in the background, but something is still killing it.
Try uninstall and reinstalling Hangouts. It works fine on my XT .

Thanks. Something you mentioned made me go back and redo it. In the tutorial(140-150) at the end you do not mention to reflash SuperSu. Reflashed and it started right up as 150.
Update:
Same issue.
Tried Bare_Naked Rom and same issue. Hangouts rings when display is on, I leave it idle for 15 min and it no longer rings when I call.
What happens if you wake up the phone by hitting the power button, then dialing your GV #? Does it ring in that case? Are you using any third-party apps for power management that may be contributing to the problem?
I'll have to try some testing on my phone to confirm what's happening with your phone - will post the results.

If I got the power button and call it rings with any problems. No power management apps, even did a clean install where the only thing installed was Hangoutsand voice.
I believe that if I disconnect from WiFi and leave it on just 4g it will ring if it goes to sleep. Need to do some more testing though.
All my testing is with WiFi on and mobile data off.
I had cases where I could kill Hangouts, put the phone to sleep, call it, and Hangouts would ring. Then sometimes it would ring for a fraction of a second, but the screen would show an incoming call was still in progress. Then other times it would not ring at all. Again, I preceeded each test by killing/force stopping Hangouts first. Weird inconsistent unexplainable results .

Ya I just tried with wifi off, leave phone for 15 minutes and call and it does call and ring through 4g no problem. Something on the phone is putting hangouts to sleep or terminating it when on wifi. I have all the setting enabled that force the app to stay awake but they arent doing anything.
Update:
Did some more testing and found out more information. If the phone is plugged in, it will ring without any issues. Even if its been sleeping for 30min+.
To summarize:
Hangouts when phone on wifi - Does not ring when sleeping
Hangouts when phone on wifi and plugged in - Rings when sleeping
Hangouts when on LTE/3G - Rings when sleeping
Makes me think there is a bug in the actual stock rom that kills apps when sleeping when it shouldnt?
Update2:
Installed Xposed and App Settings and enabled "Stay resident in memory" on hangouts. Left phone for a bit and called and it did ring. Leaving it alone for another 30 min or so and will test again.
Update 3:
I believe I have fixed the issue with the method in update 2. Been calling my phone randomly and it did ring 100% of the time. Glad I fixed it. Going to leave some tags for people googling this issue since it's pretty major(tons of posts about it on google forums). Will keep this post updated if the issue is not solved. Will keep testing throughout the day.

Whenever i call it always rings. Doesn't matter if screen is on or off. May be just a coincidence. When others call sometimes it rings, sometimes, doesn't, sometimes 1 short ring then nothing. I thought it's my FIWI connection. I connect to xfinity hotspot directly. Sometimes quality of signal changes. Thought maybe when wifi signal degrades it interferes with the phone.

Ya see for me, it doesnt matter if I call or someone else calls, if the phone is sleeping it doesnt ring. Hopefully this fixes it as I will try throughout the rest of the day. I know its not my wifi since I have multiple phones in the house and they work perfectly (hangouts) except this one.
I bought a new S8 in Greece, and in the first two 24 hours I had it, my interlocutors on the phone were complaining that during our call sometimes they could not hear me.
I went back to the store and the employee told me that he was aware of the problem (interruptions during calls) and that this even happened in his own S8. He said there was an issue because the device was from another EU country (mine was from Italy) and when it makes the OTA update something is happening. So they sent it to Samsung and after 1 week I got it back. They have made a ROM update.
I'm starting to setup it again, and in the beginning I am receiving a message that a SIM change was detected and I had the option of either continuing or resetting in the factory settings. I chose the 2nd (probably this was a mistake - I'm not sure if I actually "canceled" the update made by Samsung).
The point is that the problem has remained. I went back to the shop and they suggested to fully refund me, which I accepted.
I go to another shop and buy a new S8 device. I put SIM while being on the store, again the same problem! We test the employee's SIM, and it seems that in the call I have made, it worked ok.
So I believed it was my SIM that had a problem. I replace it, the problem continues. I am choosing a fixed type of network (eg 2G) and not automatic switching (3G / 4G etc) and the problem is somehow better, although again the interlocutors complain to me that they lose me while we speak.
I'm calling to an Authorized Samsung Service. They tell me they know the issue and that there has been a formal instruction from Samsung which says that a specific version of ROM needs to be installed to solve it.
Has this problem happened to anyone else?

Well in Cyprus we had the same issue with call interruption but all seemed fixed on July`s update. Call was interrupted no voice or sound could get through the phone and a restart was nessescary to solve the issue. Is the phone updated to the latest firmware?

Everytime I reproduced the problem wifi signal was the issue. So maybe that wifi hd call was or is the issue. Could be wrong though about your issue

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Yes the phone is updated to the latest firmware. It seems to me that it's not exactly the same problem since although during voice calls the others tell me that they hear me with some interruptions, after the call the device operates normally (all sounds) and there is no need to restart...
I don't also think it is related somehow with the WiFi and in my device there was no option at all to enable wifi HD call...
