More Volume Steps? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know of any way to change the amount of volume steps for media? I was previously using an Xposed module for it but Xposed doesn't work for Marshmellow yet. I've found a few guides, but they don't apply to anything after Lollipop because of how Lollipop changed the structure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] headphone distortion on MDL

I have a rooted version of MDL that I am happy with, other than distortion on the headphones. I understand this was resolved on later ROMs, as described elsewhere. (Sorry, I can't add the link since this is my first post.) I am not feeling the need to flash a new ROM, maybe because I have never done it before. I am, however, very comfortable modifying the Linux file system on my phone. I am a professional software developer, and have years of experience with Unix. What are the recommendations for resolving this? Is there an APK that I can side load, or am I stuck flashing a new ROM. If the latter, which ROM is recommended? I also have the Xposed framework installed, if anyone is aware of a module that resolves this problem. I did search the forums, but did not locate any references. Feel free to point me at another thread that discusses a resolution to this problem.
Thanks,
Eric

[Q] mod to edit volume steps on lollipop 5.1

I'm looking for a way to mod the number of volume steps on android 5.1, since xposed is still not functional and the previous instructions on how to mod framework.jar (baksmali/apktool) are not valid anymore for lollipop.
Does anyone knows how to do this?
I am having the same problem. Hope someone can find a fix for this soon..

[FIXED] [V4A] Samsung Galaxy J5 (SM-J500F)

Hello fellow J5 users
I have rooted my phone and I'm trying to get ViPER4Android mod working but I'm unable to do so. I tried searching forums here but our device doesn't have an forum page yet I hope the moderators/admins make one soon  .
So far I've installed as instructed and tried troubleshooting as instructed too but nothing seems to work, the installation is breeze but the drivers for V4A don't install. The status is abnormal. Driver version is 2.3.4.0
I followed every instruction on ViPER4Android page for installation on Galaxy devices, they don't seem to solve my problem. I also tried other method i.e replacing audio_effects.config with a another config which worked on S6 Edge but that doesn't to seem work as well. So I've restored the original config. No worries here!. I read somewhere this has something to do with kernel and SELinux status which is 'Enforcing' . There's no custom kernel available which has SELinux set to permissive. If anyone has got the V4A working on our device please help me out
Edit : I searched around forums and found a way get the V4A working on Stock kernel of Samsung J5 even if the SELinux Status is set to Enforcing. You will just have to flash a zip with a custom recovery (I used TWRP made by @CTXz) and Voila! This flashable will work on any device too (not fully sure though).
Page for the zip : Click here [Navigate to post #18854]
The zip was provided by maximumentropy
you need app SElinux mode changer.. i installed that and work for j5 with viper4android
the link doesn't work can you please provide tpoic tittle
Clicked the link but says error. Can you please provide the link again and also the name of the provider and the title of the post so i can advance search it.. And the zip you are taking or giving about is it a custom kernel
Please update your links. I am a fan of Poweramp, but want to give V4A a try.
Thanks.

I just noticed that the link from "Page for the zip" had an extra "http//", that's why it didn't work

Help! How do I make my custom ROM speaker-sound better?

I have used many ROMs on my SM-N900. A new ROM I tried yesterday is fantastic, but has very low sound.
Viper4Android temporarily(for a few minutes only) and incompletely fixes the issue(fixes only music volume).
:crying::crying::crying:
The ROM additionally offers to select Loud, Low or Stock sound with the help of a conf file, but that doesn't help either.
I do not understand xml and conf files. I am hereby attaching the files from that custom ROM. Dev is a bit busy, so uploading here.
Request: Instead of altering them yourself, kindly let me know what issue/error/mistake do these files have and what parameters do I need to change so that I can learn too.
Sorry for too many Emojis.
You know there is a boost sound volume mod on here .
In Android development Qualcomm so may not work on Exynos .

Ascending Ringtone Question

I have searched all over and cannot find a solution to my problem. I want to disable the ascending ringtone "feature" on my rooted Note 4 (SM-N910T) running 6.0.1.
I have tried the app in the store for this, but it doesn't meet my needs.
When I had my Note 3 I remember I had to edit the phone apk. The method has apparently changed, as in my system/priv-app/ folder I have a "Telecom.apk" and a "Teleservice.apk". The process I remember and various ones I have searched out mention editing "SecPhone.apk", which I don't see anywhere.
I have also tried various xposed modules that offer this option, all to no avail. Possibly due to these apk differences?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I've forgotten any pertinent info that would help find the solution please let me know.
