Hello to all
I apologise if this is in the wrong section.
I've searched high and low for info on how to get steering controls to work. My alfa 159 has no blue and me just standard head unit set up. I purchased this unit guaranteed to work with alfa 159. I purchased the head unit from kaigele.
Basic signals from can bus interface box are all working ignition, park brake, illumination and speed pulse.
The new head unit has can bus input which i'm assuming is for steering controls. In factory setting page the can bus setting is set to Alfa Romeo. Not sure what else to do. I'm hoping someone out there can help me. Thanks in advance.
Silly question..but have you tried mapping the steering wheel buttons under the settings menu?
You might want to make that clear that you have accessed that menu and there is no reaction...
Just a thought...
Good point. I wish it was that simple. I have tried mapping the buttons in the setting menu. Nothing works. Any idea's?

One other thing worth noting, i purchased the car with another after market head unit, again with steering controls not working. This is why I purchased the Huifei unit. After installing the new unit and finding that the buttons dont work i did a can bus scan using fiat scan software. This tells me that the radio node has been removed from the network. This can only be done via proxy alignment. I'm thinking this was done when the other after market head unit was installed. Do you think that when the proxy alignment was done, it may have disabled everything associated with the radio node including steering wheel controls. Only a thought??

i think nobody understands what you writing..too complicated
I think you need to leave part of the original stereo in the Alfa and then do a cam reset, otherwise the cambus sees something is wrong and disables it (as you're seeing).
That's my understanding, but don't take it as gospel.
Given that the last post here was October, you've probably worked it out anyway, in which case if you have a working solution to the "I want an Android HU in my 159" question, I'd appreciate hearing it.

Hello!
I´ve recently got a Witson HU (MTCD 1.97a) with the Canbus adapter for my Fiat Bravo (2013).
The steering wheel controls function ok (vol up, vol down,...) but i´ve seen another HU displaying "door opened" or other msgs (displayed in center car display), overwritten on HU display that look like the ones that appear when you change volume...
I tried various canbus settings (i found 2 different for the Fiat Bravo) but neither of them works as aspected. One is ok for the steering wheel controls and the other does nothing. But again... no extra msgs on screen.
Is it ok like this? Maybe the canbus decoder only works for those msgs, and ignore the rest of the canbus data...
any ideas would be appreciated!! thanks in advance!

That feature doesnt necessarily work on all cars, look for an app like "Car settings" or "Car service" in the apps when you have it set on the 2 Fiat Bravo CAN Bus setting, if you cant find it anywhere, go through all apps, if you still cant find anything, then that feature is not supported. You could also try any other Fiat CAN Bus setting, or maybe Lancias, Alfa or even some Chrysler vehicles theyre all made by FCA so there is a possibility it may work, probably not but worth trying.
You could also try the menu on the car, I know on the Bravo you can control some stuff on the factory nav unit, if you didnt ahve nav in the car it may be a case of turning the feature on via the car before it will work.
After typos1 tip, i set the canbus mode to ALFA ROMEO. The display shows an overhead view of a car, with the doors or boot being opened. Great!!! BUT... i lost steering wheel controls. Bad!!
So i´ll wait for an OS update to fix this thing.
The calibration screen for steering wheel controls doesnt show any option, in any case.
thanks again!

Ah, thats annoying.
The OS has nothing to do with it, its the MCU that deals with this sort of stuff, so an OS update for wont help, an MCU update may do IF they add full support for the Bravo and theres no guarantee that they will.
Some cars have CAN Bus but use resistive SWC (my Alfa is like this, but some Alfas do have CAN Bus SWC) which could explain it.
There may be a way round it if you buy an SWC adapter for your car. These headunits supposedly use the same SWC protocol as Pioneer, so if you got a Pioneer/Fiat Bravo SWC adapter, disconnected the 2 SWC wires from your CAN Bus box and attached them to the SWC adapter it would convert the CAN Bus SWC signal from your car into resistive so the stereo can understand them. AFAIK this has not been done before but it should work.
EDIT : didnt spot the bit about the SWC calibration not showing up, damn, I guess you could extract the SWC app using the app "APKextractor" and see if it installs when the stereo is in Alfa Romeo CAN Bus mode.

browsing other threads i saw there are users with the same issue. SWC app shows just a blank screen (with save and reset buttons on top).
I´m still studying this (among other things... the mtcd HU is nice.. but it looks like it needs polishing)
hi, is your witson still working?
Hi ive recently bought a android PX3 head unit, installed it ok but it has changed my milage into KM as im in the UK i need the speedo in MPH, there is a app installed called control settings, in this there is a milage setting set to < KM > but it wont change, most of the settings in the control settings app like temp set to C wont change to F either, indicators set to one flash etc the only setting that i can change is CD indicator.
would anyone know if this could be a software bug with the MCU or the android version?
where would i look for a update? i dont even know who the manifacturer is.
The head unit has no physical buttons only a reset hole so can anyone please tell me how i would get to the recovery screen?
ive never had a android head unit before so dont know much about these units.
Can anyone please help me change/fix this setting or another app or update i can install that can change the milage back from KM to miles,

I have the same problem, in the US with a BMW 90 android head unit. I think there is a bug in the MCU firmware that reverts back to Metric units on boot. Lucky for me, I am able to change things from Control Settings app but I do have to do it every time the unit boots. I have reported this to the seller of my head unit but they don't have any solutions. I am hoping they will fix it in the near future.
did you ever get your problem sorted as I now have the same problem
Hi no the seller didnt want to know and just fobbed me off for months before blanking me on whatsapp, no firmware updat as promised, nothing, so what i did was got a set of these:T - 3 Car Intelligent Steering Wheel GPS, hang up/answer, volume setting, music Controller with Noctilucent Function buttons https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Zee...191.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.68734c4dUQL81J whicc work quite well, ive also recently ordered a button stalk like how the older radion buttons were: Car steering wheel button remote control lights car navigation DVD / 2 din android Bluetooth wireless Universal remote control,
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Car...596.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.68734c4dUQL81J but im still awaiting delivery of it.
ill be very happy with the stalk as well as the buttons ive stuck to the centre consol, no where near as cool as the steering wheel controls but i really needed my speedo in MPH
anyways hope this helps somewhat not perfect but better than the speedo flashing between KM/MPH
regards

I know this is old but I have the same issue with my Joying head unit and my BMW e90. On start up, I have to go into my settings and set everything to American/Imperial units. Did you ever find a fix to this? It's driving me nuts.
Hi!
I'm new here and am wondering if someone could help me out.
I got an Android headunit through a local workshop. I thought it'd be an upgrade, and in some respects it is, but it's been giving me endless problems. I've also eventually come to the realisation that the mechanic is pretty clueless about troubleshooting software issues (I suppose he's more of an installer) so I'm pretty much on my own here. He's talking to his supplier but has been established these Chinese suppliers aren't usually helpful.
There are 2 things which I can't figure out:
1. On day 1, the bluetooth worked. I could pair my iPhone with the headunit through the unit's stock "bluetooth/dialer" app. But the unit wouldn't power back on after it was installed the first time. Mechanic told me the the unit came shipped with a wire switched around and once he corrected that problem, the headunit has been working pretty reliably. Bluetooth stopped working after this, however. I've done a factory reset, tried the RST button upfront but to no avail.
I've go to settings and searched for "bluetooth" (yes, noted that it's hidden on these units!) and made sure it's switched on. Occasionally, I see my phone's name appear on the "settings" page, but I can't pair it with the unit. It remains stuck on "pairing." It still searches endlessly in the bluetooth/dialer app.
Is there anything else I should look into?
2. Can the OS and firmware be upgraded on my unit? I unfortunately, have no idea what brand/model the headunit is. My car's pretty rare in my country (Renault Clio 2015) and the headunits on Aliexpress were for a lower-end version with different connectors. The workshop got a unit for my model through its Chinese contacts, but it came in a non-descript box. Here's the info I've gotten from the Settings screen:
Processor type: QuadCore-T3
Android Version: 7.1.1
MCU version: T5.3.21-63-9B1-C06101-180904
System version: V8.3.2_20180919.193359_ZH5-N
I'll be going through the forum to learn as much about Android headunits but would appreciate any help in the mean time.
Thanks!
Spent some time looking around the forums. Thought I'd log what I've discovered for others who may be searching for similar info.
To recap, I have an Android head unit with no branding. Initially, all I had was the info from the "about device" screen, which provided a bunch of numbers.
I got more information by downloading a hardware info app. There are a few but they generally work the same by providing you with more hardware info (ie. clues).
Discovered I have an Allwinner T3 P3 system. I'm sure I'm lumping several things together but it was enough info to search the forum with.
Discovered this wonderful thread which is generally about Android units based on the above chipset.
Within that thread I came across this one which was extremely helpful. It details how there are 3 types of Allwinner T3 P3 systems which are all different as far as firmware is concerned. Links to their respective firmware are provided, as well as some info on how to reset/recover the system. Glad I found this as I have a better idea how these things work, and more importantly, it cautions against what NOT to do (and risk bricking your headunit).
The the post also links a Russian site that has even more info on my unit from the Allwinner T3 P3 family. Will explore this next (thanks Google translate!).
Will also try to do a factory recover to see if I can fix the bluetooth problem. It worked on Day 1 so at the very least I know the hardware works. That said, who knows if the hardware was fried when the wires were switched around.
Solved the bluetooth problem. Answer was in the Russian thread posted above!
Thank you, just got a unit with same MCU version and your post has helped me identify this thing!
Hi Ultimax,
I have a small question. I have the same car as you ( a 2015 clio 4) and I'm wondering about the Canbus configuration to use to get the steering wheel boutons to work? Looked everywhere and nothing on this topic so I'm really waiting for your directions..

Hey!
Glad to help!
What headunit comes installed in your Clio 4? Is it a R-Link TomTom unit (without the USB port next to the screen) or the more basic MediaNav (with the USB port next to the screen)?
If it's the MediaNav headunit, you're in luck. There are quite a few aftermarket Android headunits which are supposedly plug and play, including steering wheel buttons. At least that's what's claimed. I know Pioneer Europe has a headunit which is a 1 for 1 replacement for the stock unit. It even comes with a new plastic front so it fits perfectly and a new wiring harness.
https://www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/products/sph-evo62dab-clio
If it's the R-Link TomTom unit, then I'm afraid you're out of luck. This is the version of Clio 4 I have unfortunately. I've searched high and low on the internet for a suitable wiring harness+CANBUS which would allow me to use the factory steering wheel buttons but couldn't find any. The closest I came was one I got from China through a local installer, but only the volume and channel up/down buttons worked. The Android headunit itself which came with the CANBUS was sh!t and I was tempted to go back to the factory unit. Only thing keeping me from doing so was I'd already spent too much time and money getting it to work somewhat.
However, I recently installed a new Pioneer headunit. My local installer managed to replace the Android unit with it. He couldn't get the steering buttons to work though. He said he'd have to custom program one which would be pretty costly. So, I've given up on using the factory steering wheel buttons.
A cheap workaround is to use an aftermarket steering wheel control kit. You attach new controls to your steering wheel (either clipped, glued or recessed into new holes drilled into your steering wheel). The controls are powered by a long-life battery. The control unit is paired wirelessly with a receiver which you connect to the your headunit via the KEY1/KEY2 (Pioneer calls them Input 1 and 2), ground and ACC wires. Most headunits have these wires.
This is the option I'm going for. My kit hasn't arrived yet but I'm optimistic it'll work.
FYI, this is the one I bought:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000584816400.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.317a4c4dfTx6k3
There are other designs too. Just search the site for "universal steering wheel control radio"
Hope this helps!
I have a Bosion PX6 Android 10 head unit.
My car is a Toyota Camry 2010 that came with a basic radio with XM radio and the Bosion 10" is an amazing upgrade for this car.
I am having a problem with the steering wheel controls as they don't set up with the button setup in the vehicle setup menu. I have tried many times with different settings.
The buttons on the left side of the steering wheel sort of work, the ones on the right do not seem to work at all.
In the hidden menu the various CANBUS settings don't really make any difference. There's like 10 different Toyota settings but all act the same as setting the Canbus to 0 (no Canbus?).
Anyone have any suggestions to resolve this?
I'm also looking for Bosion contact info or web page.
okay, the key is in the hidden menu or factory menu, you really need to search (depending in the canbus module you have) the car maker and model.
The canbus must show up and report the version.
The menu you find to setup the buttons in the android will never work.
hang in there you'll get it.

It sounds like you know what you are talking about. Fyi that I have been through the hidden menu. When you say the canbus must show up and report the version, I am not clear on what you mean. I have tried all 7 or 8 Toyota canbus configs and when I select any, the phone loads an associated program and reboots. None are really making any difference, always the left buttons kind of work and nothing on the right.
Any suggestions you have would really be appreciated.
Where you see the kernel version, os version and mcu version you must have also canbus version.
Can't show it to you now but you should see something like simple and version as 1.13.something
If nothing is there, the canbus config is not yet correct and radio can't detect correctly the canbus box. But you say that some steering wheel buttons are working. In this case. It seems to me that the canbus module in the radio is not yet updated to your car or the canbus box firmware is also not with a version where your car is supported. Contact the seller and claim if you still have time for it.
UPDATE: added aftermarket canbus box has corrected 90% of the buttons. The remaining button is the Voice button to issue voice commands to the phone. This is not a choice within the head unit button mapping. I suppose I should try a different car selection (?).
Anyone know if there is a website for Bosion for manuals and updates?
I don't think so :/ I've tried to get some answers from manufacturer but they aren't well informed, i think. Or they are not willing to tell a secret :/

Sorry for the delay, I have an aftermarket box from PAC called SW1-RC-1 which works 95% perfectly and allowed me to program the buttons as normal.
I have a 2010 Toyota Camry.
The only issue is the Bosion PX6 Android "10" is that in the setup for the canbus within the head unit, there is no button to map to for the voice button to on the steering wheel. Seems like a very odd issue as the voice button is so normal and I'm still looking for an update or a way to find that button in settings.
Hi folks. i hope someone can help here. I have just fitted a JunSun 825x_pro (I can add more info if it's needed but it seems to be the VI model with 2gb and 32gb) to my 2014 Peugeot 208 1.4HDi. It's working fine (Even the 4g connection with a sim works) apart from one thing. I cannot find the correct canbus code for it. I have been through the list and tried everything that says Peugeot (and PSA, but nothing shows 208) to no avail. I am beginning to suspect I have either got the wrong canbus decoder or the wiring is wrong since everything else seems to be working correctly. It's kind of important to have the steering whell controls working.
I don't want to rip it all out again unless I really have to.
If anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful.

You could check if your car exposes the SWC as resistance matrix to the OEM harness. In this case it's best practice to bypass the CAN box for SWC because the learning function can be used and you don't have to live with hard coded mapping of key and function.
You may try to find the pinout of your original radio via Google by using model number/name of the OEM radio.

I might just have to do this, although that would be a steep learning curve!! The stereo has learning functions and I can remap the keys (once I can get them to register). I need to wait until the trim pry set arrives since the new unit is really tight and I don't want to damage it with screwdrivers etc. I can then get the canbus decoder out and see if it has anything on it to identify it in the system such as a model or anything. I also need to ensure the plug is in the right way round into the socket in the back of the unit -it has 2 wires on one end and I think the plug can go in either way!! :-(
Doh! Never mind. Important note: always check you have the connectors in the right sockets!! had the 8 pin canbus plug into a 10 pin - not connected - socket. :-(
[edit]
Even the car trip button is working now a la Peugeot head unit...
