AOJ5 Update - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have seen a few threads saying flashing the latest firmware blocks flash custom recovery. Is there a way around it? Do you think there will be flash block for Marshmallow? If so, then I might have to trade this for Nexus 6P.

In settings switch usb Debugging and OEM Unlock to on.
Download Odin 3.10.7
Download arter97 Philz Touch Recovery from arter97.com
Flash custom recovery from odin

Custom recovery?

What is the easiest way to get a custom recovery on my device which is a i9505 i have rooted using cf auto root?
Sorry for the noobish questions i have always had Nexus devices so Odin etc is new to me
Use recovery tools, available from the play store. After installing CWM, it's easy to change to any other recovery you want. Hope this helped!

you have made alterations to your phone so its not longer stock. the file you are flashing is for a stock rom and to be flashed in a stock recovery. to flash the update simply re-flash a stock recovery and allow the update to go through. you can also simply wait and flash an updated custom stock rom.
Edit: link deleted....may confuse you
Edit2: Using the toolkits you should be able to find the stock recovery image and flash it back

There is already a way to go back to stock if you ever do decide to root. Give it a try and if you want, you can flash stock again.
TWRP Recovery is now available for the Note 4 on Tmobile.

Can you do a video on how to unroot or at least some step by step directions?
I've tried to find an answer to this but can't seem to get a 100% sure answer. If I simply root, that's all, no custom recovery. Will I still get OTA if/when Samsung/T-mobile release an update (ie Lollipop)? Thanks!

Yes you should get OTA if you stay stock.
I had a Quick question about Twrp recovery
I have a tmobile note 4 sm-n910t. I have rooted with cf auto root and put the twrp recovery on and flashed the sd card fix. If I unroot via odin with the stock rom will android recovery be installed again or do I have to flash android recovery again to get rid of twrp recovery. If I do have to reflash android recovery again do you know where I can find it.

How do i flash a custom rom?

Is it any different on the latest official lollipop update?
Do i just flash TWRP through download mode and install the rom in the normal way?
Thanks. Im a noob with the S4. My previous phone was the HTC One X

Anyone?

Flash a recovery then flash a ROM. I recommend reading the tutorials in the General section, but there's nothing special involved in installing a custom ROM.
Whats the knox bootloader?

At first root your phone then Flash TWRP RECOVERY, download a custom rom for your model ,put the rom on external SD CARD and flash it in Twrp .
DO SOME SEARCHING AT FIRST
Flashing TWRP maybe won't work without root (just replied to post with issue) i had this issue also

Hello 5.1.1 root! It's about time.

I'll be posting up the kernel soon. It's nothing more than stock with adb root support, permissive, and root restriction removed. I'll probably update it to add init.d support and a few other things I come across, because afterall, this is just a first build to remove that annoying root restriction. I'm sure there are other things I can improve upon.
Download: BeastMode Stock 1.0 N910P OG5 **NO ROOT RESTRICTION** **Permissive**
Tested with SuperSU 2.49 BETA, but I don't see why the stable release wouldn't work too.
Source code: Download
Good news!

I'll be posting up a stock rooted ROM later on today.
But for now, you should be able to backup your current OG5 ROM with TWRP before flashing.
I'm not sure what problems people have had with TWRP not sticking, but it's stuck on my phone the first time I flashed it immediately after OG5 update.

I downloaded og5 and updated and boot looped when I tried to root. I never backed up, so I have the og5 boot loader and twrp but I am running sacs ROM. A stock rooted ROM flashable in twrp is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks

Excellent!
@freeza could I make a couple of requests, please?
Your kernel sounds like what I'm looking for. Could I get one with Enforcing mode for added security? Did he say E... ?
Also the guys in Note Edge forum could use a kernel for root as well.
Thanks. I've actually found ways to get around enforcing for V4A and ADB on OB7.

Confirmed working*
Starting from scratch you need things. Odin, Chainfire auto root, TWRP, and the kernel. Boot into download mode. Flash TWRP tar. boot into twrp recovery and backup system.
Boot into download mode again. Flash chainfire autoroot. Boot into download mode again, flash TWRP recovery again.
Boot into recovery, flash beastmode zip file.
You will now be rooted on this kernel.
