MobilesDirect & Their Warranty Question

Thinking about buying from MobilesDirect and understand some of the challenges people have had, but my question. The phones they supply are they direct from HTC or from the various network operators, and who is responsible for the warranty?
Too many phone resellers go out of business and if the warranty is with MobilesDirect this could be a problem especially if your tied into an 18 month contract.
Personally I'm looking at th 12 month contracts once the HD2 has arrived working you then deal directly with the network operator.

With all products your first point of call should be the retailer, mobilephonesdirect.
But with all products, the manufacturer, HTC, will honour the warrenty regardless as long as you have receipt of proof of purchase (ie when you bought it).
Not sure if its 1 year or 2 year with HTC
Just checked HTC warranty is just 12 months so if a resellers goes bust and you've signed upto an 18 or 24 month contract you will be in trouble.
"2.2 In warranty Repair
In-Warranty repair means a repair carried out on a unit within 12 months of its purchase. This is not a Non-Warranty chargeable repair. "

g2 warrantee period ?

i have two, g2's. one of them has cesaed working from the loudspeaker, so no videos, no speakerphone, no ringing.
how long is the warrantee period on these devices, and does anyone know if it's possible to have it replaced free of charge ?
thanks !
Easiest way to find out is just call customer service and ask.
Warranty period is one year from date of first use.
With T-Mobile there is a 20$ service warranty fee and ground shipping included in that you will have to pay to get phone replaced. extra 19.99 for express shipping.
If you have insurances 7.99 bundle or whatever is 5$ and free express then.
HTC warranty is 15 months. Current first-run G2's are covered till December of this year.

What happens to us with a 2yr replacement plan on 8gb n7

When I bought my n7 in august I got the 8gb, and elected to buy office depot 2yr replacement plan. Say six months from now my n7 is destroyed and unfixable, do you think they'd replace it with a 16gb since by then the 8gb would be nonexistent?

Warranty 101 Read read and save save read.
most warranties have several options .
They can do any of the following (some warranties can very)
1. repair the device.
2. replace the device with a exact match (can be used or refurbished)
3. Offer a replacement if similar like product with same specs and features .
This number 3 can get you sometimes. Just depends on terms of warranty .
4. Provided they could not come up with a way to provide the above Refund your money up to the total amount of purchase excluding any other claim money they paid our . You will not get taxes or warranty cost back..
The above is in most all warranties its often worded differently .Also warranties very from state to state. The warranty could have a exclusion for instance something they say they will not cover . But in your state the exclusion is not allowed...
READ YOUR WARRANTY DOCUMENTS.. AND Print them. companies change warranty policy from time to time. Make sure you hold them to policy at time of your purchase..
GOOD LUCK..

Squaretrade vs Warrantylife insurance fos S4

Trying to decided whether to get the squaretrade warranty vs the warrantylife.

If a product can't be repaired it will be replaced or a replacement credit issued
Power surge protection
Manufacturer authorized service centres
Unlimited number of claims
30 day money back guarantee
Extra Features:
Complimentary 3 way shipping with UPS
Accidents happen, get additional protection today:
Protection from drops and spills with coverage starting on the date of purchase.
$50 deductible required for accidental claims.
2 Year Accidental Damage Warranty
for 89.99
or a 3 year plan 129.99
Where as Squaretrade has a 2 year plan for $99 and a deductible of $99
I dont know whether or not you can transfer the warranty in Warrantylife or if they will give you cash back if you sell your phone before the 2 year plan, however on paper it appears to be the better deal especially since they only have a $50 deductible.
has anyone had any experience with Warrantylife?

Not right now, those plans are usually very expensive with very high deductibles. For example, if you do lose your phone, you'll be paying $165 deductible plus the price of your plan. In most cases, you won't lose it within the 2 year contract time frame. It's of course all risk, but most likely you'll drop it a few times and need to fix it.

Extended warranty in Canada

I bought mine from Best Buy and purchased the Geek Squad protection it $13 a month. I got a $35 credit on the phone to try it but will probably cancel it once I hit the 90 day. Telus would only sell me a warranty if I had a plan with them. And it would be $9 a month. I also called customer support @ essential and left a voicemail which they promptly called me back within 24 hours to tell me they don't offer a warranty to Canadians but that they are working on it.
Is there any other option anyone has found for warranties in Canada for this phone?
