So my phone just started shutting off randomly this morning. It seems to be associated with any type of jostling or less than normal strength contact with hard surfaces. These may be just coincidences but I need to know how to fix this

This is random, but do you install Play services or the Play store apk from a third-party source? One time I updated the Play store via an .apk from apkmirror and it did not install as a system app. I had the same app install problems that it sounds like you are having. I didn't realize this was the culprit until I had performed factory reset and noticed that my Play store wasn't present in the app list, hence not installed as system app.
First, please update the name of this thread. If you've realized, the names of threads in the rest of these forums are all descriptive.
Second, what error messages do you receive when trying to install apps from the Play Store? Does it occur when you're downloading a new app? Does it occur when you're trying to update an app?
Third, these two problems don't seem related at all at first glance. If you're phone shuts off when it's being moved, then it's possible that your battery is just loose. If so, just remove your battery, make sure none of the contact pins are damaged, then re-set the battery. Let us know what happens.
Be descriptive.

Anyone else having this problem? I'm guessing it's something wrong on Google's side, as I could install apps before. Now nothing will install or download. I cleared data and cache for the Google Play app and even factory reset my phone.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I was having the same issue before. I fixed it by visiting Google play on my computer and when you install an app there it let's you send it to your device so I did that once and ever since I have been able to download and update from my actual phone just fine.

Thanks I tried that, but it's still not working. A notification sound keeps beeping every 2 minutes or so but I get no notification.
I can install paid apps, but no free ones.
All fixed now, must be a wifi issue, as I can install any apps over 3G internet.
Long story short: since yesterday I have been unable to update any installed apps, or install new ones. When I try to do so, the app shows in-store as "downloading" but nothing actually happens and it's stuck at this stage forever. Stopping and restarting the service doesn't fix this, nor does completely powering off and on. Internet through the browser works as usual, as do all internet-enabled apps. I haven't installed or removed any software recently - the only change I did in the past 2 days is flash a new CWM recovery (went from 6.0.1.0 to 6.0.1.9) but I don't see what this has to do with the store.
I had this happen to me. If you go into settings > apps and clear data from Google Play Store, that fixed for me.

What rom are you using?
Stock. However I'm still on 4.1.2 - I blocked OTA updates until the current 4.2/4.2.1 bugs are fixed.
It's a long shot, but you can try to install the latest Gapps package from recovery. Or remove and re-add your Google account.
Would you happen to know where I can find the latest gapps package? Thanks!
(edit) found it http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121130-signed.zip
Edit2) Oops the 11/30 gapps don't work with 4.1.x anymore, will try 10/11 instead.

Since you're on a 4.1.2 rom, get the one for CyanogenMod 10.0.x
I same issue last night. Downloads were very slow. All stock on latest ROM.

Holy f*! The browser works, however downloading through the browser doesn't. I get "download starting" then nothing happens. Same with Chrome. I quickly checked if I'm not out of storage space - no, I have 8GB free. WTF is going on?
I figured it out. last week I was trying to solve my battery drain problems (can't find the thread anymore) and I ended up disabling the media storage service. That apparently disabled any app from downloading anything. I have re-enabled it and now can download. The store works, browsers work etc. I just hope that the battery hogging doesn't happen again.
When I have play store issues I just sign out of Google talk and sign back in and it fixes my problems .. also close the market after..

Doesn't matter if you use Google talk or not... For some weird reason the play store uses Google talk some how it may be to authenticate

If you can't download at all, a good method can be to clear data from "Google Framework Services" , delete google Account, reboot, recreate your Google Account.
I had the same problem. Enable download manager fixed it for me. After I did that all the apps I had tried to install started downloading and play store stayed open and did not force close.
Settings>apps>all>download manager

Dear forum,
I'm having a strange issue with gmail and I haven't seen any other references on the forum.
About a week ago, Gmail auto-updated in the Play store, and since that time the icon changed to a "postage stamp" with a "G" on it. The application itself is now dark-themed in the conversation list, though the message text background is still white (the dark/light issue makes some of the text difficult to read).
This application is really broken now, and I don't see anyone else complaining about it, so I'm curious why this ended up on my tablet.
I've tried wiping the data and cache and reinstalling google apps -- the old Gmail is restored, but when I reboot the bizarro Gmail comes right back.
Has anyone experienced this? I'm worried about some malicious app update, but I'm not sure where to go from here.
Thanks for any suggestions.
I'm rooted on stock with the latest updates.

I'm afraid I haven't heard of any issue like this.
If you're reinstalling google apps (I'm assuming via flashing through a recovery), are you sure you're using an official / trusted package from a trusted source?
If the G-apps package is from a malicious or untrusted source this may explain why you can't uninstall it correctly and it has that weird type of persistence.
You can always get a trusted version of the G-apps package from the Goo Manager app from the play store (The app is free and without ads!).
I hope this helps in some way. Sorry I can't offer a more direct answer

Are you using a ROM with a dark theme enabled?
This morning I woke up to a phone that wouldn't load playstore, youtube, hangouts, and others. I rebooted, factory reset, installed a new rom, and still I cannot sign in to playstore.
Try to clear data in play store app otherwise might just an issue with Google on their end.

Thanks for the reply. I dug deeper thinking something in the settings was wrong. In the security settings I found a list of "Account Permissions" kind of like the list in Play Music. Well there was a large amount of the same device. I started revoking access to some that were not active for several months. A few minutes later I started receiving email notifications and a notification to update some apps. I did not know this existed. Just like Play Music once you reach a certain amount of "Authorized Devices" it will not allow access to any more.

Many Google services were down today for about 4 hours. People were having problems with everything Google related, myself included.
I have an almost identical issue to this person https://github.com/rovo89/Xposed/issues/69 (I say almost because I haven't been able to get a logcat to see if I get the same errors), anyone know a fix? That's the only relevant link I can get to come up, all other things are about the keyboard crashing in general, which id like to clarify is NOT the issue I'm having, the keyboard works fine, but when I update or install an app specifically in the play store more often then not the crash message (___ has stopped) comes up for Google keyboard, but when I pull of a text field it still works fine. I will try to get a log asap as I imagine that will be a lot more helpful.

And here is logcat, I opened catlog, set to error, filtered to AndroidRuntime and then opened play store and updated apps till I got an error and that popped up, pretty much exactly the same, just important to note it has nothing to do with xposed. http://pastebin.com/ag5VGFCC

Not going to officially declare it the solution yet, seems deleting Google keyboard data, uninstalling it, and then reinstalling it worked, don't know why I didn't try that before :s feel kinda dumb
