Pulled my phone out of my pocket this morning and saw lines, distortion through out the screen. Everything except the top 1/4 of the screen. Screen wasn't hit. Was working fine a hour a so earlier. Really just want to know if anyone has seen this before. I'm pretty sure it's the screen but want to make sure before I go and order a new one. Thanks for any help.
Maybe loose connection between lcd and flex cable? These screens don't just get defective out of no reason.

Do I blame the onboard video or the LCD itself for this problem? I've taken the phone apart and re-seated the motherboard connections, which was no help. If I connect using EveryWAN the phone appears to be working fine, in fact I flashed the T-Mobile ROM and than the Button ROM thinking it was a IPL/SPL issue. Even if I try to start in boot loader mode the screen still looks the same.
Just trying to decide If I need to replace the motherboard or the LCD.
Thanks,
Bump back to the top!
Screen seems intact without any damage visible, no cracks or out?
Had this problem once with my old Universal, was the colour transfer wires that were loose, but pretty sure the Uni is totally different to our wizards.
Prehaps open her up and see if theres anything thats loose prehaps.
I had it opened and re-seated both the connecting cables, but no luck.
Ive had this problem with my wizard .. i couldnt find a solution. tho i didnt really try very hard. Basicaly just picked up another one on ebay for like £30 seemed cheaper than spending the time and effort fixing it. I think mine got progressivly worse. It used to do it occasionaly and now just it as soon as its switched on
i have a same sort of problem...
left of the screen fills with lines and the whole screen fades to white.
turning on and of the screen via power button takes it back to normal but then it happens again.
noticed it only happen in portrait so i have to set it to landscape all the time
for some rom and spl's it happens just a few times a day and others i cant use it in portrait.
If i find a solution it might be working for you to
Fading white screen of death
Could be the battery. Have you tried a new battery?
Solved.
The LCD itself was bad.
Hi all,
Recently had my HD2 fixed due to a horrendously cracked screen...
However I'm now having some issues with my touch screen
Basically it was all perfectly fine until about a week ago, then I couldnt use the touch unless I pushed in the bottom right hand corner and now it wont work at all...
Anyone got any ideas on what I could do? The guy who fixed it believes that its a dodgy part but I don't really believe him...

sounds like the ribbon cable from the screen to the mainboard has been either bent/creased/split/not re mounted correctly.
I'd be getting a second opinion and billing the guy who fixed it.
thank you,
I took it back today, complained about a couple of things, like the screen/glass not being plush in the device (if you can imagine that the buttons at the bottom were not raised that's about the height I mean) and there being dirt between the LCD and the glass.
Also brought along the old LCD to draw some comparisons and I think your suggestion was correct:
On the old LCD the cable is glued to the back of the LCD screen and the screen was fitted as expected...
On the device now the screen is raised and the cable is loose, can only assume that its not connecting with something on the MB?

yea sounds like its been badly put back together. make a fuss would be my suggestion. not sure what else to suggest.
Who did you take it 2? I need to get 2 HTC HD2s fixed
Hi!
I tried to replace a cracked LCD display on my Nexus One, but now the colors are all messed up. Have any of you had the same experience? It's like insane! The black is like grey, and there's like these horizontal lighter stripes across the screen. Could this simply be that the LCD connector is not properly attached to the motherboard? 'Cause it was kind of tricky to push it back in place. Had several tries where the screen was completely black, because of the connector not being attached properly..
Cheers!
There is a good chance you dont have the connector fully seated. There is also the possibility that you got a bad screen, where did you get the new one?
I bought it over at DHgate. I sent them an email, but they said they tested each screen before sending it out or something. But should it be THAT hard to press the connector into place? I've been struggling with this for a few days now.. I've also checked that none of the pins are damaged. Atleast what I can see without using some form of magnifying equipment
The connector on my phone just snapped in, as in you could feel it pop in and knew it was making contact, I really believe that if you could see a good connection you have a bad screen, try and take pictures of what it looks like when running
Did you get the right one?
AMOLED or SLCD?
Here are some images.
It doesn't look that bad on the images. Sometimes there's also flickering on the screen, but it stops after a few minutes of use.. Hehe.
I could feel the snap myself when i pushed the connector in, but it's still crap..
On my Dell laptop I have a similar issue where sometimes when the screen connector is pushed all the way in it shows weird colours just like in your pictures (sometimes also lines or other artifacts). For me the solution is to wiggle the contact with the laptop running until it is sufficiently loose where all pins make good contact.
I also remember similar artifacts when an iPhone I fixed had poor contact.
You could attempt inserting the connector with the phone running, but beware of static, and also note that not all electronics like being powered up that way (i.e. I'm not responsible if you break it more than it already is ).
Thanks for the tip, xdZKu7, but no luck. It was either flickering/tweaked colors, or nothing.. I don't want to waste any more money on this phone now, so I'm thinking of investing in a DHD instead =) And this time with proper insurance!
I recently replaced the screen in my phone, but then new screen receives no touch input. This is the second screen I've ordered that had this problem, though the last one had lines after turning the screen off and on once. I've replaced screens before, so I generally know what I'm doing. I'm pretty sure Something on the inside is damaged.
Also, the battery is also keeping the back from going on all the way. Not sure what I managed to do to everything.
Hello,
The left side of the screen shows some Missingno type glitching (I've attached some pics)
Does anyone know where this type of problem comes from?
I had the screen replaced and it worked beautifully afterwards for a couple of days...
I also installed system updates.. so I'm wondering; is this a hardware or software issue?
Thanks for your time and interest

Happened to my wife. Needed to be returned and fixed, hardware glitch not software. I am not sure if it was a screen issue or some other hardware.

Did you have the screen replaced because of the screen flashing, or did the flashes start only after you had the screen replaced?
If the problem has been consistent over the course of two different screens, it would point towards a hardware fault on the sending end of the display connector, right where the ribbons leave the motherboard.
If this problem is brand-new, it might just be that the display connector was not fully secured when the new screen was installed.
Mine is doing the exact same thing. Left side goes all grey and static looking.
I took it apart and reseated the screen ribbon connector and at first I thought it made a difference, but now it continues to glitch out. I took it apart a second time and it has the half screen right at boot up. Sometimes it goes away just setting on the desk but seems to come back regularly. Its only the visual part of the screen, the touch points are still all in the same locations. And when I took a screen shot while it was glitching, the screen shot came out normal. So I am hoping its only the screen/digitizer that is going bad.
I am going to buy a new screen and see if that fixes it. Its only $60 on eBay and its pretty simple to take apart. I will post back if it fixes the problem. That way if someone else has the issue they will know.
Moto x style display problem
I have got the similar problems with display and I will return for warranty repair. I will tell you later what happened.
Downgrade to Lollipop , It worked for me.!
...
(This is the tip for everyone)
I replaced the screen and that seems to have fixed it for now. I haven't had much chance to use it since the screen replacement though. I will update in the next week or so and let everyone know how the screen replacement holds up.
The replacement screen only lasted about a week and now the righthand side has glitched out. I am going to take it apart and put it back together but i think its time for a new phone.
These phone are getting cheap and I really like it so I may just get another. Although the lure of a dual sim version is attractive.
