Hey guys, so it's a known issue that lg g2 to have dead zones on their touch with common region in the sim card area.
Thinking of ordering just the digitizer from alixpress for 5 bucks. But should I only replace the digitizer or lcd as well? The screen is perfect.
Got the phone used and was my stupidity I didn't check the touch on the touch.
Wut do.. Just digitizer or lcd as well

If you're skilled then Order only digitizer otherwise go with whole panel. Bcos Screen is attached to the digitizer and if mess up something, entire Display won't be of no use.
Sometimes few extra bucks would be easy solution. Or contact some local shop who can do it for you.
Its not few additional bucks man, it like whole another 50 bucks for the combo. I got the mobile for 150usd!
Will not do it myself, going to get it done by a local mobile guy.
Thanks for the opinion. As it seems it's possible just to get the digitizer and not the lcd

After only 2 days of owning my Aria, I dropped it from about a foot and now the digitizer has cracks in the top left corner. It works fine but is ugly. I plan on claiming insurance on it eventually but was wanting to know if anyone has bought this digitizer. It doesn't have the At&T branding which is fine for me, plus it is one of the cheapest ones I found. What do you guys think?
Replacing the digitizer yourself will void your warranty/insurance. You should just bring the device in for replacement without messing with it if you have insurance on the device.
By the way, no matter how carefully you replace the digitizer, it will never be perfect. You will get some dust under the screen, or get it a bit off center, or leave a little adhesive behind from the old digitizer. Just a friendly warning.
(But otherwise, yes, that digitizer looks fine to me.)

Good luck with that, phones aren't that easy anymore. They can and will track the IMEI # on the phone the second that uses any bit of the network. Especially if you do a insurance claim for losing the phone.
Just replace it thru insurance and send the broke one back.

The insurance company is making me jump through hoops to get a replacement, it might be easier to replace it myself
Hello there, my HD2 had a fall today and broke the screen. But i think that it's just the outside screen because the touch is still working in the broken zone. Sure warranty will not cover it, my question is: if i take it to a store (not HTC) to replace the outside screen do i lose my warranty? And how many will it cost in a HTC store and non-HTC store?
Here is a pic: http://i53.tinypic.com/wkgvgy.jpg
Not sure what you are referring to as the "Store", but it's cheaper to replace the "digitizer" yourself. Most of the time they can be had for around $40.00 with the necessary tools included, just go to Ebay and type in Tmobile HTC HD2 digitizer or click here: Digitizer . Your warranty will be voided if you take it somewhere other than an authorized repair center, one of the screws that have to be removed has a "void" sticker covering it and of course to unscrew that screw that sticker has to be torn or removed. If you turn your phone on, does the LCD behind the glass (digitizer) look broken as well?
Edit: If you do not have a TMOUS HD2, the above link for the screens will not work in your application, instead you will have to look for a HTC HD2 Digitizer.
Here's a pic with the screen on: http://i52.tinypic.com/2ztbkh3.jpg
I don't think that behind the glass is broken, otherwise it wouldn't look like that with the screen on and i can see everything behind the broken glass.
How many cost to replace the glass if i take to HTC? I have to know that because i still have 1 year of warranty.

you dind't understand my point. i saying that i'm thinking sending it to HTC because i still have 1 year warranty i don't wanna lose it reparing it by myself. But i have to know the prices of everything first.
I'd say it will be about 140€+ to fix.

Your digitizer AND your LCD are shot.
Do you see the blue vertical lines ? That's your LCD display that does that, and it's because it's been damaged.
I suggest get it replaced with your insurance, if you can, or have a shop take care of it.
Replacing the digitizer and/or the LCD on a HD2 is hard as hell. You will end up damaging the phone more. It's all enclosed in the outside shell, and you will damage more than you want.

No, the blue vertical lines are from my theme (thank God) i take it to a shop just to make sure it was just the outside glass and not the LCD. And they confirmed me that. They told me that the LCD crystals are not damanged so it's "just" the outside glass.

What type of warranty do you have? Most warranties will not cover intentional or accidental abuse like a cracked screen. Atleast that has been the case with me through Tmobile. One of the first things the read off to you in the warranty disclaimer is that if the water mark is pink or the screen is cracked, they will charge you a flat fee of $XXX dollars.

yea they just made it cost alot more $$$ if you have just a phone with a bad digitizer as you now "have" to by the assembly wich is at the minimum the lcd and digitizer
you can get the frame assembly which is a little more
anyhow for the SPH-L720 its around $175-$200 and on the I9500 GSM version which is ATT and probably Tmobile their screen assembly go as low as $75
sure would like to know of the screens can interchange
looks like on ebay that the SPH-L720 isnt included on the one thats say I9500 but maybe that is only because the phone is new?

You can NOT interchange the screens! The breakdown is like this,
1) Samsung I337, M919, I9505 all use one type of screen
2) Sprint S4, Verizon S4, US Cellular S4 share the same screen
3) The international version I9500 uses a different screen.

Thank you for actually being helpful.
You are welcome. I repair phones and I have to keep track of all the different models from Samsung. Some parts are common between the different variants but the LCD assembly is not one of them.
Is anyone here familiar with how much I'll have to spend to get the screen repaired for me?
My screen finally cracked after someone knocked it out of my hand, my bumper wasn't sufficient for this kind of impact. The bottom half of the screen doesn't function.

Seems like it's cheaper to repair overseas than in the us. I don't have the money to spend 180 on screen repairs so close to the holidays. I think I'll sell this cracked one, then switch to my galaxy s1.

I don't think I'm skilled enough with hardware to pull this off. I would likely mess up. I was thinking about trading it in to tmobile and just using my S1 until I can save for Project ara from moto next year.

Doesn't make sense to spend nearly $200 on repairs for a problem that's affecting ~15% of my screen. I've been using my phone upside via rotation to overcome the dead zone.
However I cannot stand knowing a crack is on my phone, this is the first device I've allowed this to happen to ever.

They are just trying to rip you off. Call up the LG service care helpline if you haven't already and ask em about the prices. Because these repair centers are usually authorized one and can quote anything. Happened with my HTC sensation. They charged me Rs. 11000 for the screen and when I confirmed with HTC they said its for 4000 about 2 years ago. So be sure about getting it repaired anywhere. Hope things work out for you. Sad to see another device on its death bed.

Hello Rishav,
I dropped my Nexus 4 yesterday...the display is now cracked and unresponsive to touch, so I cannot get past the screen unlock pattern. I read your post that it costs Rs. 4500 to get the screen/digitizer replaced in India.
I was wondering if you know where I could get it done in Pune. I see that your location is Gurgaon but any info you have / could provide would be appreciated. I searched on Google for Nexus 4 repairs in Pune but haven't come across anything useful.
Thanks in advance!
Rahul
Just contacted LG via live chat, and apparently it'll be between 100 and $180. I'm going with 180 because the frame, digitizer, and screen are all damaged. Sadly I don't have $180 right now(have to worry about tuition, transportation, bills, etc.). Think I'll just sell it on eBay or whatever.

Hi I work in a phone repair shop in the uk. I don't recommend just changing the glass. It's nigh on impossible to do without damaging the digitizer. You need to change the glass/digi/lcd and frame complete. The part you need is about £85 on ebay so a shop is gonna do it between £120-£150. Anything over that is a bit pricey.
LG is repairing mine this week for 153.00
Symptom/Cause: Damaged housing need full Refurbishment (LCD, TW, Back glass, Cosmetics)

Hi this isn't a software issue. But just a question
I recently broke my i337 lcd and the screen broke inside. At first half the screen was lit but than it went completely dark. So i sent it to samsung and they said the price to fi it was "$161.84". I cant pay that much. I might as well get a moto G 2nd gen, least it has an unlocked bootloader lol. But anyways does anyone know where i can get the cheapest lcd replacement. Or anyone here has a spare used one that works for me to buy off of. Idc as long as it works. Ebays a bit expensive as well.

Your Galaxy S4 does not use an LCD screen, it uses an OLED or 'AMOLED' screen. These are expensive to manufacture. Unfortunately, that's just the way it is.
