I still have a year on my VZW contract and ended up breaking the LCD. I can spend almost $200 on repairs which I will do myself or I have been eyeing the new Nexus 5x or 6p. I love customization, which is why I rooted my S5 while sitting in the store, but with the seemingly complete lack of enthusiasm with this phone(compared to my old Galaxy Nexus) I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to just buy a pure Nexus device and just pay out the rear for the next 2-3 years. Any thoughts about on the matter from those still running the S5?

no insurance on the phone, no upgrades available. Kind of out of luck here. Cheapest costs I've seen to fix digitizer run over $200 so it doesnt seem worth fixing.
I was contemplating buying the LG G3 off contract when it came out so this has now forced my hand. However, I need something to get me buy for basic functioning until that phone comes out (I don't know if itll be coming out shortly after their announcement next week or months after that like samsung did it, which changes things).
Main reason for posting this is that I need advice for what to get in the meantime. Should I get one of those AT&T go phones for $60 or is there a better option for cheap out there? Dare i say an old iphone? ugh
Hello guys, im pretty confused what i should buy,
HTC One M8 is the phone i want, but i hear the service centre is very bad like when the phone goes dead i doubt they will replace a new phone
Motorola moto X+1 is the last choice i have, idk about the service centre but i think theirs will be good,
I don't mind about snapdragon 800 or 801 and i don't mind the price between the two
I want a phone that will last a year and still in working condition
What do you think i should buy?
By the way i'm in India.

Any device should and will last a year+ if taken care of. If you have experience with devices not making it that long then you are doing something wrong. I'm not trying to be condescending or place blame, just stating that you should consider what you're doing to a device if you can't get a year out of it.
I've 3 phones in 5 years and never had a single service/warranty/repair issue. Went from Droid X to Galaxy Nexus to the M8 and every single one of them were unlocked/rooted/rom'd/modded and everything else I could do to customize it to me. But they always were in a solid case with a screen protector and I made sure to have a semblance of common sense when using it around water or other hazardous conditions.
I've only had the M8 for 3 weeks but it's taken a few drops and still looks brand new and feels solid. I just sold a 2.5 year old Galaxy Nexus for $120 because of the like-new condition it was in. If you take care of the device, it will last 2+ years easily and you'll never have to deal with a service center. You shouldn't have to base your purchase on how likely a device is to fail.
I think you should opt for the best. Nokia 3330.
beastly build
3+ days battery life
and who can forget , you can play snakes!

On Wednesday my 4 year old killed my unicorn S4 and I was forced to upgrade because we are a cell phone only house. She turned a heavy nighstand over on it and killed the display http://imgur.com/RZFxsNR . It's a 32GB MDL firmware model so it's running CM11, Qi charger on battery etc. Oh how I cried, but anyway, would it be worth it to fix the display and sell or not cost effective? I know virtually nothing about hardware issues. I haven't had a phone destroyed for 6 years. TIA for any help.
Almost price of new
Its a $130 cash for the new lcd display and you could just buy another one same condition for as low as 170 to me I would just buy a whole different phone that way I wouldn't have to risk taking it apart and trying to put it back together I would probably sell it as is for $70 on ebay or about the only thing anyone is going to want is the logic board since its in MDl I know I would since im locked to safestrap
I was planning on buying an unlocked S4 (for $379, Instead of going with AT&T NEXT installment plan and paying more over 24 months)
However I read about all the screen/glass cracking issues. Is a risk even if I put a good screen protector & case like otter-box commuter?
The store B&H also offers Squaretrade drop & spill warrant for $49 with $50 deductible. But if breakage is a very common issue, I don't want to buy the S4.
(Also what other phones comparable to the S4 would y'all recommend. For use on AT&T). Only android and should have a good camera.
Thx

The Screen of my S4 only broke once and trust me, every other phone's Screen would've cracked in the same situation mine got destroyed. What I want to add is: After replacing the cracked screen by myself I'm even more amazed by the S4. If your screen cracks you can buy a new one and replace the screen by yourself. It is super easy.
I have yet to leave the N3 as there's no root for the 4. However, a few of my friends with Note 3s have gotten insurance replacements in the past few months. All of them have received Note 4's as their Note 3's are "Outdated".
Also, they all seem to have been cut a break and only had to pay $100 deductible if it was a first claim.
Not that I'm encouraging purposely breaking your Note 3 or anything of the sort... I'm just sayin...
I assume you're talking about the AT&T insurance? Since they're offering open enrollment thru 3/31, I'm VERY tempted to enroll, since my GPS is now COMPLETELY failed, and I rely pretty heavily on it. Definitely worth paying the deductible if they truly are replacing with Note 4's.
Typically, we'll try to replace with a like-for-like device. If that model is unavailable at the time of the claim then we may send a comparable model. In some cases this could mean a newer phone. However, typically we'll replace with the same make and model.
We got ours replaced about two weeks ago through AT&T and received the same phone in return.
