A3300-GV - factory reset, no launcher, does not turn off - A3000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I think I am in big trouble:
It is about the Lenovo A3300-GV.
It is rooted with KingRoot.
USB Debugging is off - as far as I can remember.
Stock recovery, no custom recovery.
Was running stock KK 4.4.2 before.
I replaced the original Lenovo launcher with the Holo launcher and removed the Lenovo launcher with ES File manager.
I did a factory reset in the "settings" since a lot of unused games were installed.
Now the tablet turns on but since there is no launcher I can not do anything.
I see the status bar on top but can not scroll down for the settings WiFi etc..
I also see the navigation bar on bottom with the three buttons.
When pressing the power button I see "Power off".
It does not turn off but reboots only!
When pressing the Volume down button during the reboot I can access the "Safe mode".
From the PC I can access the internal SD card.
That's all.
ADB from the PC does not recognize the tablet.
The reset button near the SIM card works only when the tablet is off, right?
Does not work either.
How can I make it work again?
I would like to install a launcher again and start from there.
How can I access the recovery mode usually when booting?
I should press Volume down & Power but it start into the system not into the recovery mode

Ok,
I got two steps more:
1. For a hard reset with the reset button near the SIM card / SD card slot you have to press the reset button AND the power button simultaneously.
Then the tablet will switch off.
2. To get into the recovery mode the USB cable has to be connected to the PC and the tablet.
When the tablet is off press the Volume up button and the Power button simultaneously.
After some seconds Android will show up telling you "no command".
Press the Volume down button for a moment and you will get to the recovery menu.
In the menu press Volume down to go down to the next choice.
Volume up (long press) has the function of making a choice, not going up in the menu.
Ok, now tried to flash a launcher (APK) from ADB.
adb sideload APKLauncher.apk
The adb terminal tells me "sending: 'sideload' 100%" but the tablet says "Installation aborted".

[TUT] how to perform a hardreset!

To perform a HTC HD2 Leo hard reset
1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, then press the END/POWER button shortly and release it. You will then see a message on the screen telling you this will erase xxxxxxxx......
2. Release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
3. Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
Soft Reset
If i may add,
A soft reset,
1. Open the back with your thumb or finger
2. The RESET button is located below the bottom left slot for the battery and the SIM card. Use a small object with a blunt point like a toothpick to the RESET button.
3. Your phone will restart and the Home screen appears.
Correct me if im wrong,
Sorry im a newb, but what is the precise difference between hard and soft reset?
Will a soft reset delete stuff such as contacts, pictures and music? And will hard reset do the same?
thanks smaberg...
you should add the two other methods to the first post
there is the soft-reset button (little red button) and a software method (clear storage).

Click to collapse
the "software" method (clear storage) is a hardreset, witch means you will restore it to factory default, deleting all info on phone...
the softreset only restarts the phone.
after flashing a new ROM i always recomend a hardreset afterwards, to be sure to get rid of all leftovers...
(Useful if flashing a rom and battery is less than 50%)
Enter bootloader mode:
Momentary press the red reset button on the back of the device, near the sd card slot, while holding the volume down button. Keep pressing on the Volume down till you see the bootloader screen. If you did not have volume down pressed as you were pressing on the reset button the device is just gonna reset and no change will take place.
Else, you will see "serial" written on the bottom middle of the screen if you're not connected to the PC via USB cable yet. "USB" will replace "Serial" when windows recognizes the device. Once on this state, you can press "next" on the rom installer where you have to acknowledge you connected the device via USB and your battery is grater than 50% and so on and so on.
You can start the installer on the PC prior to connecting the device in Bootloader mode. I don´t know what happens if you enter bootloader while connected to the PC (if you don't either, don't do it!!)
Note: I advise against using this mode with less than 10% or so. I guess you could end up with largest screened brick in the market.
To clarify previous posts:
Hard reset: Resets the device to factory defaults or to the last rom you installed.
How?
-Hardware method: combo of hardware buttons (described above)
-Software method: slide through HTC sence till "Settings" bar and select "Security" (top option). Then select "Factory resets" (last option). To my knowledge it does absolutely the same thing as the hardware method. correct me if I'm wrong.
Soft Reset: changes you made will take effect after the device resets (installed apps or reg edits...) OR you got to a sticky situation and you need to reset to get everything running smooth again (device shows abnormal operation of some kind).
How?
-Software method: Hold the power button till the quick list appears and press "power off" option on the top. You can also be presented with this option after installing some apps or after changing something within an app.
-Hardware method: remove the back cover and press the little red button near the sd card slot. Useful if the device stops responding and you are unable to soft reset by any other way.
Enter Bootloader Mode: allows for flashing devices in any battery state. It doesn't do anything by itself, just allows roms to be flashed. Some people have gotten stuck on this screen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=599259, so use the search tool and read up before using. After flashing a rom you will loose every setting and file you had on the device itself. SD card will remain untouched (or so it should). I've read people advising to remove the card prior to flashing. Not exactly sure as to why. Files saved to the SD will remain intact. Apps installed on the SD card (aka. "Storage") will remain intact, only not registered or linked with shortcuts anymore. The device basically doesn´t know they exist.
How?
-Harware method: button combo (described above).
-Software method(ish): If you don't have to manually enter bootloader, the rom installer will take your device through this step without you having to do anything besides connecting through USB (activesynk, I guess) and running the RUU_LEO_xxx.exe file. You will see a progress bar on both PC and device as the rom is flashed.
Note: Reseting the device (turned on) while pressing a key (ex.: vol down) does the same thing as pressing the power button (with the device turned off) while pressing that same button (vol down).
Maybe you could transfer this info to the 1st post and clean up the thread a bit... Even, this could be at the Wiki section. Or better, a link on the Wiki to this thread
Hi guys,
I tried with both volume up and down pressed to hard reset, but not really successful. Perhaps I am doing something wrong?

did u press power while pressing vol up/down?
Well, for entering bootloader mode, you can do it in "software mode" without having a PC connected to your PPC.
You can just run EnterBootloader.exe from your device.

yes, I did. But when pressing I do not feel that is actually "making contact" I tried several times...
I will try with the bootloader from above...let's see...
Thanks and regards,

If, for some reason, you cant hard reset using the power button, you can always press the reset button on the back of the device while pressing both vol up and down. After the vibration, it will enter the hard reset menu (remember to keep pressing both vol buttons till this point).
By the way: were you pressing the power button and both vol buttons with the device turned off? Cuz, with it turned on, you are just cycle through the quick list and vol menu like crazy.
Yep...pressing with phone off.
I tried with the reset button from the back of the phone and it worked.
Thanks guys...

Seba

recovery mode ?

i just read this on a site its for hard reset but cant you get into recovery mode with it
Hold the Volume Down button and press and release the Power button. A window with some option will be displayed on the screen. You can use the Volume Up/Down buttons to scroll between these options. The following options are present to you on the screen: Fastboot, Recovery, Clear Storage and Simlock.

Not working on my device, which also doesn't allow 3 button recovery ㅜㅜ, you got my hopes up for a sec though.

[Q] i can not get into recovery menü

hello, i have tried to flash cyanogenmod, but i have forgotten to erase all data before installing.
now, if i start my motorola pro, i see the start screen. and nothing happens else.
i have tried to get into the recovery menü by pressing x, and power button. no chance. i wanted to make a hardware reset like described here
------------------------
Hardware hard reset method
1. Turn the Droid off. If it won’t turn off, take the battery out then place it back in.
2. Open the keyboard and press the X key while pressing and holding Power. The device will power on. Keep holding the buttons down until a yellow triangle appears on the screen.
3. Press the Camera and Volume Up buttons at the same time to get to the menu. (I had to press them several times to get it to work).
4. Use the direction pad to the right of the keyboard to select the Format option.
--------------------------
nothing happens. i can not get into the recovery menü. is there another way to erase all datas from the phone ?
sorry for my poor english.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
i have found it out
if you can not get into the recovery menü, press "R" + "M", and put in your wall charger.
wait a few seconds. you will see the "!" sign.
after that press "@"
you will go to recovery menü

Any alternative to get into recovery?

I just have installed a Nougat based ROM on my old LG G2, the installation went fine. The system boots up normally but after a few seconds in the first setup screen it just keeps rebooting.
Now I want to wipe my phone and install another ROM but I can't get into the recovery. For some reason the hardware buttons method isn't working. I push the volume down button + power buttons until the LG logo appears, then release and push the buttons again. It just skips to the system boot.
Also the ROM doesn't come with advanced reboot menu enabled, it means the power menu just shows me the power off and standard reboot options.
Is there any other way I can get into the recovery?
to get into recovery via the button combination you have to shut off the device completely...
to shut it off completely - press the power button longer than 10 seconds, LG logo will appear for a second > don't release the power button until the logo dissapears...
now with the device powered off you can try button combinations... if it fails, turn the device completely off again and try again with another button combination
if you can boot into the rom - you can install some of the apps from the play store which give you an option to reboot into the recovery directly from the rom itself... there are several of them...
btw some of the custom roms have that advanced reboot option turned off by default - see deeper into some settings, maybe you have to to turn it on manually (it's usually in the "developer options" or in dedicated rom additional settings/customizations menu)

Old Samsung Core Prime - Forgot PIN

First things first. This phone was never rooted, and USB Debug is not enabled. However, when I went into the phone's Recovery mode I noticed that both the Apply Update From ADB and Apply Update From External Storage are available. I'm wondering if, with either of these, I would be able to install something that will help me get my old phone back without having to do a full reset.
The only way you can remove the PIN is by erasing the entire device.
If the device has FRP enabled, i cannot help you with that. Search google for bypass methods.
First, power off the device.
After it has powered off, hold the home, volume up, anyd power button. You should boot to recovery.
Once you are in recovery, press the volume down button until you hover to "wipe data/factory reset" then select it using the power button.
Then hover to "yes" using the volume buttons and press the power button to select.
Once its erased, reboot your device, then set it up as usual.
