Hey guys i had question about my sph-l720. im currently running android 5.0.1 baseband version L720VPUGOH1 with root and TWRP. my question is can i downgrade to kitkat? maybe 4.4.4 or 4.4.2?
would i just have to use Odin and flash the firmware from sammobile? wanting to do it cause i think kit kat might give me better battery life on my phone. if not any roms i cant install that are kitkat that are based on touchwiz?

Can't downgrade your firmware, but you can flash any KK ROM.

KitKat (4.4.2 and 4.4.4 are both KitKat, 5.0 is Lollipop or LP for short, 6.0 is Marshmallow or MM for short, etc)
ROM is short for read only memory, try Wicked X, that's my ROM (there's a KitKat and Lollipop version, so make sure you get the KK).

It doesn't. he'll need to flash MK2 as you suggested, use Safestrap, and use the KitKat Magic Toolkit for a 4.4.2 ROM.

Ok, I did what you asked, but now i need help with unlock... My new thread: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52659461)
I'm currently on Lollipop OD2, and rooted. Using Odin, can I take the stock NG2 tar and downgrade back to stock Lollipop 4.4.2?
I am assuming it's possible but wonder if the modem/kernel will also make the downgrade appropriately.
Any thoughts?

So I guess I should look for a NG2 Rom then, preferably as close to stock as possible, and then flash it via recovery, correct?
Yep

If you are running the stock Samsung MM 6.0.1 firmware and you want to root
all you need to do is to flash the proper rooting kernel after you have odin flashed
the official stock Samsung mm 6.0.1 firmware.
Here is a link where you can download the "AudaxPlus M Kernel v1.1", it is pre-rooted:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63161175&postcount=1
Look for the KERNEL download link.
Once you have flashed the rooting kernel successfully your phone will be rooted.
You will need to odin flash twrp or philz recovery before
you can flash any custom roms or flashable zip files.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
So your saying the kernel will root my phone?
And if i want audax 2.2 rom, what do i need to flash after the kernel?
Can you please direct me to a link that will fit?
Thanks...

You cannot downgrade from Marshmallow to Lollipop.
That's a fact.
I have already asked this question & have got the same reply.
Marshmallow bootloader prevents downgrade.
But, why would you want to downgrade.
There are many custom roms for A5 2016 based on MM, if you dont like the stock rom of MM.
if i put a custom rom, can i after flash original lollipop firmware?

You can give it a try but I am sure all the custom roms too are Marshmallow based, so you will have the same problem.
Any particular reason for sticking to LP, when there is already news that this device will get Nougat update too ?
I guess it would be possible to make a flashable zip with lollipop system/boot.
