I9500 S-View Trouble - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I am sorry I didnt have a chance to research all of the forum topics because of having poor connection. My device is rooted and based on sammy software (OzcanRomv6.3) Nowadays S-View sceeen shows up and immediately disappears. I have no idea how to fix it. At least I must turn this magnetic sensor off. What should I do? I know AOSP based firmwares solve it but I am OK with this ROM. Thanks a lot

Light Sensor Not Working

Hi All,
I recently noticed that my auto-brightness wasn't working any longer.
I installed GPS Status&Toolbox and it indicated that my light sensor was reading 0 lux.
Assuming that it was a ROM bug I flashed CM10.1 . Sadly this has not solved my problem. I still get a reading of zero lux . My Nexus only has a screen protector on and I can see nothing blocking the sensor.
I can't imagine it is a very complicated component and in it's isolated position i find it hard to believe that it was damaged.
Has anyone else experienced any problems and do you have any idea how to fix this?
Thanks in advance
A kernel is what bridges hardware and software. Try flashing a different one.

[Q] HELP S-View screen flashing when on EDGE

Hey guys,
It's been a few months that this has been happening on my S4 GT-I9500 and it's driving me crazy because i haven't been able to find any solution online yet.
When my phone reception is on EDGE, the S-View Screen (Black screen with the clock on the upper part) starts randomly flashing every few seconds or few minutes depending on how much it feels like driving me crazy. I've googled the issue and it seems some others have it too but no solution found.
Here are the things i tried with no luck:
-Changing Modems
-Changing roms
-booting in safe mode
Only thing I think i can do is flash CM or some other AOSP ROM, but personally, I don't feel they're stable enough for daily use yet (for me at least)
Does anyone have any other ideas on how this issue can be solved? Should i send my phone in for repair? All the sensors including the magnetic sensor are working fine if I use the S-View cover and this issue only happens when my phone is on EDGE in bad reception areas.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
I also had same issue and there is no solution of this issue right now.. some users reported that board replacement also cant fix this issue.. i saw a xposed module somewhere to disable s-view magnetic sensor to solve this issue.. u can try that.. i have returned my s4 for these issues and asked for returned so i dint get a chance to test that.. but some users also reported that module worked for them
Sent from my GT-I8552
Solution is here---( May be )
I was suffering from the same problem and finally today I got the solution
All you need to do is... Open back cover
then there's a screw on right side where "L1" is written , open it (i have just lossen that screw a little bit)
u r done
try it
for me it worked
that screw get magnetised which causes this irritation may b u can replace that with a brass one
Dont forget to click thanks if I helped

[Q] Upside down screen rotation problem

I'm sorry if there already is post about this problem, but i couldn't find anything useful so i decided to ask for myself.
The other day i bought a second hand i9505, the problem is that the screen rotates upside down. When i start any app and turn the phone sideways the screen rotates exactly 180 degrees from what it's supposed to be, which is very annoying when watching a youtube clip or taking a photo. The phone was on stock 4.4, at first i thought it was a callibration problem so i installed a stock 4.2.2, but no luck. Then i installed slimrom but still no go, tried different kernels (like 4 or 5) and still nothing.
So my question is is there any way to fix this without taking it to the shop? Like a patch or an app to fix it, and how can i see the values of the gyroscope to see if it is outputting what it's supposed to ?

As you have tried several different ROM's, presumably the error is hardware related. As you bought it as second hand, I'd bet that it was reason of sale (mechanically caused sensor(s) damages are not covered by warranty).
sorry that I could not provide more optimistic assessment.
I figured as much, but thanks anyway. So there is no app to flip the rotation ( invert it so that it is normal ) ?

[Q] H/W Issue: Front camera partially blocked

Hello,
I have a i9506 - S4 Advance and i notice since few days that the front camera is partially blocked from the top. as if some cover has fallen and leaving only a crescent opening from mid-way ..
I saw this similar issue discussed in some S5 forums but no solution there ..
Anyone here with similar issue or with a potential solution ?? I don't have the warranty anymore..
Thanks.

Samsung LED cover with custom ROMs

I have had a Samsung LED case since I first bought the S7E back in 2016. It still works well but only with official Samsung firmware versions.
I can understand that their is some proprietary code in there to detect the cover, but on the custom ROM I'm currently using, not even the open and close function switches the screen on and off.
I was wondering how difficult it might be to incorporate the relevant Samsung routines into a custom ROM to give either
a) Screen on /off when the cover is opened and closed
or
b) the above plus full LED functionality as experienced in Samsung firmware.
I'm not a dev, but it may assist others to implement such features.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
