Hopefully this is the right place to ask this:
I'm about to root my phone and the main reason that I'm about to do this I'd to remove all the extras apps that tmobile put on this phone...whoever I read somewhere that there are certain apps that shouldn't be deleted...now my question is what are the apps that is "safe" to remove?
Use the search feature, all the answers are in this thread. It has been discussed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726637&highlight=bloatware
Does the Android environment suffer from registry 'junk' entries from the installation and deinstallation of applications as WM does? I'm asking because there are just so many Android applications, and the Market is often unhelpful with determining which one is right, so it looks as though much experimentation will be happening, and I don't want to muck up the system.
Thanks!
Bump. Hope someone can answer this. Thanks!
If you want to remove all possible traces when you uninstall an app. Don't just uninstall from Market.
Go to Settings > Applications > All Applications (Click on the app) then select clear cache - then select clear data if you can - then click uninstall.

Thanks, but that only partially answers my question. I would want to be sure that all traces of an application are removed, but not all traces of everything. In other words, there are apps that I intend to keep, but for those I don't want, how do I completely erase them, or are they like WM apps where no matter what you do, there are registry entries?
Also, is there a way to find the .apk and save it for future installs? For example, the Marketplace doesn't archive a list of free apps. I would want to save those in a folder, along with keys such as the Pro version of Titanium Backup and so on.
Hello,
I9505 here with Samsung rom 4.2.2
I have downloaded several apps now and the all apps list is a mess.
I can't believe I can't organize them in folders. How to do it?
I mean I can have folders on the home screen, but I need on the all apps list screen.
Sorry for the question but I did not find answer elsewhere.Thanks.
Can someone tell me the guest mode apk name?
Can anyone provide me with the guest mode apk? I deleted a lot of system apps and accidentally deleted the app that enables guest mode
Hello, this thread belongs to Q&A not general, I wonder why people can't just post it in the Q&A section cause things like this or duplicate threads are pushing things unnecesary down.
@j0hnnyn if you deleted alot of stock apps then I suggest to download an stock based rom from the same android version and push it to your system with the right permissions. I can't give you it since I dont own the phone. I hope you can easily solve it yourself.
I suggest to download the full stock yourself incase you accidently remove more apps so you can fix it yourself fast without waiting hours or days before someone helps you.
Greetings guys!
I have noticed that many of us have been experiencing "Insufficient Storage Issue", and tried to solve it by spending hours of thorough searching. I myself spent more than 4 hours and literally broke my head until I found a post that actually saved my phone . So I thought of gathering and clubbing most of the common possible steps from various sources to fix this issue for the benefit of those who are in such a trauma, ;p
Before I continue, please ensure that you're problem is caused even when you have sufficient internal memory, of about atleast 1GB. If that's not the case then simply release your memory by deleting useless/enormous apps, videos, pictures, media, etc. or by taking storing them on the PC or any other secondary storage device (backup device). In fact deleting of old heavy-spaced files such as telephone messages, unused contacts list, whatsapp messages, etc also helps! And this post is specifically for ROOTED phones only. However people having UNROOTED phones could skim and have a look.
SOLUTION 1:
Mod Edit solution removed
------------------------------------------------------------------
SOLUTION 2: Removal of ODEX files
The phone stores many files in ODEX format, which potentially take up enormous amount of space. This issue can happen when the .odex file from a previous install remains in /data/app. You can delete them using one of these two techniques:
>>Using Root Explorer app:
The most preferred method. Just Goto /data/app using the explorer and delete files of the format ".odex" format. No need to worry, you won't
mess up the phone by deleting them
--------------------------------------------------------------------
SOLUTION 3: Removal of specific files method from the /data/app directory (suggested by baha76_s)
>>>Thanks to baha76_s (Senior member at the HTC One X+ forum)
Check out this post. Very helpful indeed.

SOLUTION 4: Moving of apps from internal SD to external SD either manually or using secondary apps like Link2sd App
Download link for Link2SD app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD
Just in case you cannot install this app also because of the dreaded "Insufficient Storage Available" error, just delete old, useless and heavy apps, videos, media, etc. You should be able to install the app. Just transfer the apps to the External SD card and check if the error is resolved.
One should know that a specific amount of internal memory is reserved for the installation of apps. Just in case if it's full, try changing the download location of the apps to the external SD card through the SETTINGS menu. This may also work.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
SOLUTION 5: Wiping Cache and Dalvik Cache (Factory Reset)
Before this step, try releasing out cache memory of heavy-duty apps, especially network apps like Facebook, which hog up a lot of precious space. You can use the following app as well: App Cache Cleaner
Download link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.infolife.cache
Otherwise just wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache through CMW Recovery or TWRP Recovery. Possibly the one of the worst and most disturbing solution of all. However many people have seemed to have recovered from this issue. The problem should be fixed by now.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
SOLUTION 6: Reflash the ROM
Really? It has all gone to this?! :crying:
Unfortunately yes! Just remember to take up a nandroid backup before reflashing to prevent any other casualties......
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok fellas!
That should cover most of the common troubleshooting steps. If you're lucky enough, you should get it through.
Still stuck? Let us know.
Since this is my first thread post, please update or PM me just in case I missed out any valid point and any other step, ok?:good:
THANKS FOR READING!!!
Thanks to:
MistahBungle and malybru for notifying about SOLUTION 1 :good:
Though it does have a few legitimate uses, remove ' Lucky Patcher is an app that enables us to install full versions of apps by patching the original license of the free apps' from 'Solution 1'. Circumvention of payment for paid apps is very much against XDA rules (for obvious reasons), failure to remove this might see an otherwise useful (even if this stuff has been posted here before so many times already) thread closed.

Thanks for notifying
It's probably OK if you remove the specific bit I quoted, mods may want the whole section removed though.
Mod Edit
May I remind you of the XDA RULES # 6
As has been mentioned , Lucky patcher is not allowed to be discussed on XDA
Thank you.
