looks like your digitizer is broken.
however in the link that Dharkaron had posted (http://www.cellulardr.com/products.php?cat=513), there is replacement screen for around $180, it should contain digitizer in it, but i would check before purchase.
if thats a digitizer only, it should not spread, but you are in risk of damaging your lcd display. (not really relevant if you cant get digitizer by itself though)
Sorry but it looks more like your protection sheet is broken try to take that of maybe it will help ;-)
screen protector u mean? no its not tht I checked tht already how can the protector break its not solid ...so digitizer for $180 that expensive I rather wait for some time and get a new one
well, its the whole screen for 180, but it does not say that it does come with digitizer, so it actually maybe wiyhout one, that is why i would check, digitizer for my old sony was around 100 and it was only digitizer, without lcd, so i would wait and see if you can find digitizer by itself (as long as it is actually separate part and not integrated somehow with lcd...) good luck on your hunt.
@WvaanWaas
screeen protector, as like piece of elastic transparent film broken that way? very unlikely my friend.

There is no way to tell how long it will work. Could work for a day, could work for a year. Chances of further cracks? There is always a chance a crack will get bigger as it's subjected to day to day use. Also, please don't bump your own post, especially after less than a day of waiting. We have lives and don't sit here just to answer people's questions.
This link is just the digitizer, like i said prices seem high to me.

it is digitizer also known as touch screen, faceplate thats whats around (black frame) digitizer/touchscreen is not there, and that is what failed in yours. digitizer/touch screen.
this will not fix the problem: http://www.cellulardr.com/G1FaceplateBlk.htm
this will work: http://www.cellulardr.com/G1FaceplateDigitizerBlk.htm
I think I will continue to use it and wait for some time till I can find cheap digitizer

It's pretty clear according to the description on Cellulardr that the LCD and the Touch screen digitizer are separate products. The digitizer is about 190$.

The glass of the digitizer is broken my friend. Your screen protector should be intact. The LCD should most likely be intact but there no way of telling it 100% by looking at those pictures even though they were good. It doesn't look that bad but it will most likely get worse. Just use gently contact and do not press the screen. You may notice that the digitizer may not respond exactly like before but pretty good. Now there's a bigger risk your LCD will get broke as well if it is subject to heavy pressure.

No the faceplate is just the plastic frame around/above the digitizer. You need the digitizer. Unfortunately CellularDR doesn't sell the digitizer itself but instead they have package of the faceplate+digitizer. That part including many others are out of stock looking at their site.
r4yd3n -> I don't know where you live but if you live in the US or Canada you should be able to order repair parts however if I were you I would send it in. Remember, Cellulardr have strict rules of not shipping outside USA and Canada (Confirmed in email) except probably if you're an american/canadian working overseas.
well the touch screen is still working like before I am surprised ...no effect of broken digitizer on the touch screen
meh
I broke my screen christmas eve
http://androidcommunity.com/forums/members/dzknockout/albums/mine/1605-phone.jpg
(Still fully funtional)
I say leave it till its necessary to get a new one. And rather than buy replacement parts for an arm and a leg, you can send it back to t-mobile for like $110 (provided you have insurance. But honestly, a broken screen isn't that big a deal if it's fully funtional. And my screen is way more f*cked up than yours
ohh yea urz is way too much cracked then my screen ...ok so I will continue to use it and wait for something better.
Good News Google G1 Digitizer Only Now available
Good news guys I just noticed that www.cellulardr.com now sells the Tmobile Google G1 Window Lens with Digitizer only at a lower price: http://www.cellulardr.com/G1Digitizer.htm
They don't have a picture yet so just to be sure I called them and confirmed that this is the correct part. Basically this is the Window Lens Glass with the Touch Screen Digitizer and has the Flex Cable attached to it. It does not include the LCD but I understand that most people that have broken their phone, have only damaged this part.
Hope this helps you guys.
P.S. They told me that they have a limited quantity in stock so if you really need it, jump on it.
So in a week or two I am going to replace the screen on my T-mo HD2. It's perfectly fine, except that end call button issue, and it's bugging me enough that I want to replace it. After I do that, should I get the screen Ghost Armored? My current screen is almost scratchless after months of use, but in the upcoming months, I'll be traveling to DC then China, so I don't want to risk scratching it up.
SO, my question is..
1. Is the Ghost Armor worth the $25 or however much it is?
2. Is there any good alternatives to Ghost Armor I should know about?
3. Is the HD2's screen scratch resistant enough that I should go without any protection?
Thanks for any advice!
12months without protection & like new.
25bucks no way, can buy digi for that, perhaps a cheap screen protector while travelling! don't like them myself on glass screens ...

I am not sure why the button issue leads to a replacement of an almost scratchless, perfectly working screen? But if I were to get a new screen, $25 for a protector is way too much, personally I use mirrored protectors at about $1 every 3-4 months or so. As far as Gorilla glass claims - mine got scratched, I too thought nothing can touch it.

It's because the ribbon that connects the digitizer is located right underneath the end call button, so too much pressing of that button can lead to the ribbon coming loose. To get to the ribbon you have to take the screen off, and I don't think you can do it without breaking the screen to take it off. If there was another way to fix the button without replacing the screen I'd totally do it, but I haven't found any ways from my searching.
I suggest you try your own disassembly prior to getting the necessary parts and see how everything is positioned.

After reading your first post, that got me thinking that I might not need to do a screen replace after all... I've watched over some HD2 dissassembly videos, and I'm thinking that I might be able to remove the screen, reattach the ribbon so it's firmly in place, and put the screen back... All I'll need is the $3 repair kit from Amazon, saving me the cost of a new digitizer. Also, would screen protectors like this
http://www.amazon.com/EMPIRE-Crysta...GIQA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328106829&sr=8-1
or
http://www.amazon.com/HTC-HD2-Mirror-Screen-Protector/dp/B003GE7FIW/ref=pd_sim_cps_1
This be good? The reviews aren't too bad, and they're way cheaper than Ghost Armor, so I figure there's no harm in it!
I simply love my mirror protectors, they look amazing on and last forever, unless you have a habit of dropping your phone into a bag full of sharp objects. I really replace it every few months because I am a girl and want it to look PERFECT, not because it becomes too scratched or unusable, they barely scratch. You can order the same in clear, of course - same strength and protection, just no mirror.
The only downside to mirror protector is visibility reduced even further in bright sunlight. You might want to try both and see which one you prefer, they are cheap, well, $25 will buy you a whole lot of any type.
Stay away from matte protector finish, I found them to not only be rubbish and feel funny to touch, the colors of the screen looked muted and washed out.
Everybody comments on my mirror protector, haha, they think it's some kind of cool new-age screen technology - fancy looking LCD
Do you have a link to the mirror protector you have? I've been looking at some and they seem pretty nice, but I haven't found any on Amazon yet that have good reviews. Thank you for your help by the way
hello,
i have an htc hd2, but the touch don't respond, any os i use. i believe is from touch, which i must to replace. my question is if it's recommended to change display with touch or only the touch.
Common issue with the HD2, mine also died... got all the stuff to replace it myself...
I must say if you are not good with device tinkering, ask a friend to do it, the HD2 is probably the most SoB device I have had to repair hehe.
Pieces are cheap in eBay... just to be sure, get the full LCD+Digitizer and the Buttons Flex.
90% of the time the Digitizer its what gets broken, but the button flex also wears out, so if you have your HD2 open, its better to just change both at once.
thx for your answer, but tell me if it's so hard to replace myself the touch. thx

Just the Digitizer its hard as hell, besides it is not worth it. You can get the Digi+LCD combo for like 30$.
To install just the Digitizer you have to separate the LCD from the Digi, and in the process it is likely to break, and then you would have to seal it and make sure there is no dust inside.
I really suggest you to just get the combo from eBay
thx, i found a couple of combo's, but i don't know how long it takes to arrive from china...
I have a LG G2 VS-980. The top half of my screen was completely unresponsive to touch so I decided to open it up and take a look. The digitizer cable that sits on the glass has been peeled off. Is there any way I can replace this myself? It looks to be sitting on there with just glue.

I'm on same issue.
mine is the screen not responsive about half inch.
Take a look the attached.
I'm assuming this is hardware relative since this happens in recovery mode.

Yes, It's hardware. My first thought was do a factory reset, but no luck. I know there are several places online to get and new digitizer or digitizer plus LCD combo, both are sold with new ribbons already connected to the digitizer. I'm just trying to find if I can reconnect the ribbons myself without having to buy a $70 and up digitizer and LCD combo. It came loose completely by itself. I've never dropped the phone or mistreated it in any way, so I'm also worried if I buy a new digitizer then the same thing will happen again. I've contacted a few places that repair smart phones but they have no idea only just doing some research myself. So now I'm here looking for some professional help.
Unfortunately my screen broke, the LCD is working fine, and recognizes touches.
Is it possible to change only the glass and digitizer? Eg
I'm afraid of LCD panels from eBay. The service said that warranty is void at all events (even if they repair it).
I'm currently in the same situation. Any update on your phone's screen?
A local repair shop can't fix it unless I buy a panel myself and let them fix it for me. I want to know what I need if the glass is broken, but touches and LCD are fine: just glass or a complete screen replacement, like this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Rau...Panel-Replacement-for-Xiaomi/32835465822.html .
I will order a complete LCD panel with frame and try to replace myself. But I don't know if they are the same quality as original.

Let us know when you do! Please also specify which replacement you bought. It's a good idea to document these things, because in the coming years many more people will break their screens, unfortunately, but we can help them finding out what screens are worth buying.
I'm especially interested in touch performance and LCD similarity to the original. If you could pay attention to those properties and comment on them when you know, that would be really helpful.
Never try replacing one yourself, no matter how tempting and easy it looks on youtube videos, without proper gears and experience, you will end up damaging the whole panel. I know because I tried and failed myself and ended up buying the whole front panel with the LCD.
It will be much cheaper to buy it off ebay and let a experienced guy do it.
Did you tried with LCD+frame kit? It looks much easier that way. What happened exactly?

I was trying the glass with digitizer which was pretty much cheap, which needs to be removed with proper gears and lot of patience with a heat gun(I have seen local shop guys doing it without them with ease), It was an old samsung s3 which I kept to experiment on, ended up buying the whole front assembly which I did installed successfully(made me feel a lot better). That looks easy and there is less of chance of any breaking, unless you are very careful in removing all the tiniest sensors and wire and put them accordingly, but then you have to carefully pick the whole assembly there are plenty of low quality ones around, where you might get one that gives issues. for instance on Samsung s3 it was an original amoled display. but I got one that was an LCD panel display and there were issues where brightness sensor didn't worked at all.
Your best bet would be an original LCD+frame kit, I don't know if you really can get one off ebay.
So my three advices.
1. try to get only the glass with digitizer off ebay(If your Display works), then let a local expert change it. much cheaper and let you avoid getting a low quality LCD panel.
2. If it's your first time, I would suggest doing it on a cheaper phone to test your skills, I wouldn't recommend doing it for first timers who have no experience of doing it. there is high possibility that you might break a sensor or a wire.
3. if you want to go ahead with a whole new kit from ebay, make sure you check it without removing any sticker, and connect that display with the motherboard and see if the display is really good and make sure you check the brightness and touch. only if you are satisfied then go ahead, or return the product.
Thank you for the advices!
I couldn't find anybody, who can replace only the glass and digitizer.

I saw MiA1 LCD panel, Touchscreen and digitizer which is around $39-$46 on ebay, while I couldn't find just the glass with Digitizer. I think the best bet right now would be with the full kit with LCD. as they aren't selling without the LCD at the moment.
Although I would suggest you keep the original LCD panel with broken glass,(don't try to remove it yet, let the glue wear off itself until then) in case they do start to sell in future the glass with digitizer only. There could be a next time(who knows? or you can just sell that to someone), where you will at least have an original LCD, these things break very easily. be sure to keep them safe, and if you feel confident enough, you can try it yourself, just be careful with the glue, and the pins. go gentle, it's a surgery. best of luck!

I love advices like that.U r smart.
I've also cracked my screen.... happened yesterday when I accidentally dropped it on concrete. Touch is working fine, only glass is broken.
So would be buying only the digitizer like this one: goo.gl/ZDPoFd do its job if I let it do at the local repair shop or buy the whole LCD as mentioned above?

You're going to need to ask your local repair shop. Some shops will be able to replace the digitzers, others only do the full LCD assembly. Again others will not even accept repairs where you bring in the parts, they'll source the parts themselves.

I've contacted a local repair shop and said they couldn't do only the digitizer, but they can do the whole LCD repair which will cost me 25 euro. Now I have to find the right one..... as you have so much variant on Ebay and Alie. U have a suggestion on which one to choose?
My MI A1 display is craked .but display is working and phone functions are working .just I ask you if I using the craked display for long time is it problem come.phone sold 3 days ago so I cannot want to repair the lcd. .Plz advice
I bought this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Ori...izer-Display-For-Xiaomi-MiA1/32831902856.html
I let a local phone repair shop do the repair for me. They did a great job. The screen itself is also great. I think it could be an original, as I can't tell any difference. The colours seem the same, it measures up to 10 simultaneous touches (like the original), the performance feels identical. I recommend this screen! I've also left a review with pictures on Ali Express, but it's still being processed.
I ordered a white screen for my black Mi A1, so now I have a stormtrooper! (or panda, whatever you want...)
Screen plus repair in total about €60, well worth it IMO. It's quite a fraction of the original purchase price, but hey, I shouldn't have dropped the phone after a month. I've also ordered a plain black back cover to help me better grip the device.

I didn't know that! It wouldn't have been bad, because I don't like the button backlight at all: it's on for too short, it's too bright, it's not like I can't find the buttons and it's not like I don't know what functions the buttons have... I hope we can turn it down or off in the stock ROM in the future!
