[Help] Bought S6 Edge +, Has Android Device Protection - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a Galaxy S6 Edge Plus on Swappa and it had old user's information on the lock screen. I did a hard reset using the buttons, but once I started it up Google said this device was reset, enter the email associated with the phone.
Before I contact the seller, is there anything I can do to get around it? Thanks in advance.

Dropped Galaxy sIII

hi all,
my sister dropped her galaxy sIII the other day, and even though there is no cracks on any of the screen, the screen has stopped working. the phone itself is turning on (vibrating and soft key lights are coming on) and i can use all the gestures for unlocking. any idea what this is? how much would it be to fix?
thanks.
The ribbon cable may have popped off. May be theres a hairline crack?
Good Luck.

You can send it to Samsung for repair. In US they charge flat fee for any diagnostics and repair.
In order to do this go to their web site, register your phone and find repair service page. They will let you even print shipping label.
If you need it faster chose express delivery.
You will get it back like new.
Good luck!

We had a similar issue, but the ribbon was popped off as mentioned. Sent it to a local repair guy through kijiji for 50$ and it was working great after. Hopefully you can get it running as easy.

I Got Scammed?

so i bought a samsung note4 from a online company. long story short i tried to root it and it got stuck in a bootloop, i took it to a repair shop and they said they cantfix it cause they cant find the S/N, i told them that its behind the battery and they said its an invalid s/n, its too short, so i checked imei.info and it turns out that its a samsung galaxy s3, i checked multiple sites and all with the same results. and another problem with the phone was the menu button and return button, you would have to put pressure on itin order for it to work unlike other phones where a slight touch would trigger it.
what surprises me is that on the box it says SM-N910F and when i go on download mode it says SM-N910V and when i check imei its a samsung galaxy s3, with a whole different model number..........
Did i really get scammed or imei websites are fake?
just an note 4 whit other imei, just changed whit an BOX
"so i checked imei.info and it turns out that its a samsung galaxy s3, i checked multiple sites and all with the same results."
According to my experiences, even if the info tells that you´ve got an S3, it still can be a Note4. Happened to me too, i just checked my definitely original SM-N910F, on three different sites out of curiousity, and one of them showed that I´ve got a Note2, which i obviously don´t.

i dont know man, but in odin mode it says SM-N910V when the package says SM-N910F and plus behind the battery there isnt even a serial number....
Well, i didn´t say that you bought an original SM-910F, it looks like there´s something not right with it. SM-N910V is the Verizon (USA) version, as far as i know. I just said that whatever these IMEI check sites tell, don´t care about it, your phone is still a Note4. Or i should say it can be, but because the market is full of cheap chinese knock-offs, most likely you bought one of these.
If it is a N910V then that explains why you can't Root. AFAIK, US Carrier Samsungs are not Rootable.

I've got 2 US Carrier Note 4's, 1 from Sprint and 1 from Verizon both rooted and twrp'd running 6.0.1. All you have to do is search how to root bla bla bla in Google. Just thought I'd let ya'll know. Not that it really matters anymore.

I just updated my app, AndroIDentity, that will help you find out what is the real hardware you have. It will check some signatures of the hardware and compare it agains a database of over 12,700 devices and tell you what it really is. It's at the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alxdroiddev.gs3identity
Another thing: please never, EVER!, let these sites know what your IMEI is. For your security, please keep your IMEI to yourself and yourself only.
There are stores around that buy blacklisted phones. So I'm betting this was probably a lost or stolen blacklisted phone. So they change there imei number.
If Odin says it's 910v you can probably flash that firmware. Goto Verizon thread. I think there's ways to unlock bootloader now. Don't quote me. Just check it out.

Pardon me if I missed something while scanning over the thread. But shouldn't it be night and day difference at figuring out whether you have a note 4 or s3?
1. note 4 has finger print scanner
2. note 4 has stylus built in
3. note 4 is much bigger.
4. if you do have an s-pen with the phone hold the stylus near the screen and click the button. Does it pop up the air commands? if so then it's a note 4 not an s3
5. s3 to my knowledge doesn't have slow motion video recording so look for that option in the camera settings.
I could go on but you get the idea.

With the serial number aside does the phone have a built in stylus? If so then my guess is you got a knockoff phone possibly built with s3 parts. I included two pictures. Which one looks like your phone. I also circled the stylus on the note 4 in orange.

it does have the stylus, when the phone was working i could use the stylus, air commands would pop up.
but i dont understand why there isnt a serial behind the battery, im trying to find a 3rd party software that could show such information but no luck.
Most probably your phone got "rebuild" in China...I have read story's online where people flashing their note 4's thinking its a F model while in reality they have an P model. These "rebuilders" are sticking even false ident stickers on the back of the phone. Its big business now rebuilding phones. It does not have to be a negative thing if they use original parts - after all, all the parts are manufactured in China anyway - and if the price reflect its a rebuild. Sure, you will find less "honest" people like in your case.
I bought an Note 2 in Central Africa and while I was concerned whether it was a real Samsung or a fake I did not realize I bought an "new" rebuild phone...Later on I was talking to some local friends who are in the "phone" business and they explained me about these rebuild phones and how you can easily spot them...In my case it did have a small green sticker under the battery cover identifying the shop who (re)build the phone. Also the boot-loader is in Chinese...

Have you dialed the number *#06# to have it show you the IMEI? If you do that it should show the real one even if the surface version is false. Then take that IMEI number and google IMEI check. There is one or more sites that will reverse that IMEI and tell you what phone it is.

hi guys, got a galaxy s5 g900f, seems to have a problem with booting up
symptoms are itll boot to the first "samsung galaxy s5" splash screen, then it goes blank gives two small vibrations, then reboots to the same splash screen and just repeats this over and over
sometimes it will boot if left for about an hour, but this rarely happens
anyone have any ideas or is it dead?
anyone have a clue??

My S5 acted the same way. I tried all the tricks that I found on the Internet. Nothing worked. Samsung Service wanted $245 to replace the mainboard. My local repair shop said it is not worth repairing. I sent it to another repair shop and they tried to repair the mainboard. ($85.00) It worked for about a day then quit again. They now want another $60 to replace the mainboard. They are giving me the $85 towards the new board. Before the S5 I had two S4's. Both of them died from failed mainboards. No more top of the line Samsung phones for me. I am using an old S3 which may be the best model Samsung ever made. I think Samsung quality has gone drastically down hill. I bought my wife a Xiaomi Mi5. She loves it and says it is faster and has a better camera the S5. She says that if I get the S5 repaired that I can keep it. No way will she give up her Mi5. The question is how long the Chinese phone will last.

[Q] Warranty Replacement Experience

My AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge started having problems with the display. Showed up as a single vertical line all the way down the right side of the screen. Called AT&T Troubleshooting Support and they said it was a known problem and they were going to send me a new phone.
My question is does the phone warranty start over or does it continue as the original phone? As I only have about 3 months left on the original phone. Just wondering what other's experience has been.
Thanks...

I replace mine, nice and smooth, no problems at all. Warranty start over when you activate replacement phone, but just you to know this will be refurbished phone not new. They mail you new phone and you mail back in same package your old (broken) phone.

Thank you for your reply. I was hoping thats what would happen but just wanted to confirm. You answered my questions and not too concerned with "refurbished". As long it works and I get another year of warranty

I've had my replacement device replace lol. my phone was acting up so they sent me a a refurbish one then that one started messing up right when I powered it up by giving me the phantom key presses I couldn't even type in my WiFi password because of that. so i had it replace and its been working good since then.
the warranty actually restarts with the replacement device so your good.

Thanks for your reply. Glad to know that the warranty starts over. Was kind of worried about it as I only had a couple of months left on this one.
Doesn't sound like you had good luck with replacement phones, but glad it worked out for you.

Bought a used s7 Verizon. Is it fake?

I bought a galaxy s7 on craigslist. It was listed as new Verizon model but was obviously used lightly. No burn in and few scratches. The price was good.
It works well and I was able to get it to work with the sim and even installed 930u firmware to use with att. Att was able to add emei to my account
I have never seen s7 before this but on this one there are small squares around the back and menu button and a number engraved in the left upper bezel to the left of Samsung logo
I did not see this in the s7 in another store after I bought it, also a Verizon model. The phone has a clean emei
Can anyone tell me if this is some kind of demo unit and if there is a chance this is not the real deal or the glass was replaced or something like that.

can you go into recovery and download mode? if yes. this is an original samsung phone.
This explains the difference between a real S7 and a fake one.
https://androidcommunity.com/learn-...een-fake-and-real-samsung-galaxy-s7-20160415/
Are your back and menu buttons always visible and not lit up? In other words, if the phone and/or screen is off, can you still see them? If so, it's a fake. True S7s don't have a box around them and they are lit by a back light.
Craigslist is definitely a place I wouldn't get a phone from. Reports are, most people do not get what is advertised when it comes to cell phones. Yes, there are reputable people out there, but if the price was too good to be true, then more than likely, it's a fake.
If you were able to flash the 930u firmware onto it, it's real. If it were fake the flash would have been unsuccessful.
Sound like a cheap non samsung ebay screen replacement
