Hello, I have been messing around with clockwork mod recently but I'm having some troubles I'll list them below. if anyone could help me that would be great!
Question 1. Not sure what file to use. I am using a galaxy s4 GGt-i9505 and when I try to install CWM from the app it says jfte and if i click phone not listed it says gt19505 not supported. I'm not sure if this is the correct file to use because I looked on the clockwork mod website and seen the manual install files and found the gt-i9505 files on there. So basically my question is for the galaxy s4 do I flash the jfte CWM file or the gt-i9505 file? If I Google search jfte it says it just another name for the galaxy s4 so I'm not sure.
Question 2.I have had an issue with system ui crashing when trying to install the jfte file through the app rather than through Odin and once it says installed and reboot phone i still don't have Clockwork recovery it still is the original recovery that came with the phone. How do I fix this?
Question 3. Every time I do a backup to my external SD card it puts the date of the backup as somewhere in the 1970s and puts the time to 11pm and then when I try to restore to the backup it says MD5 mismatch and tells me the location where it sent the recovery.log and I can't get any of my backups to restore without MD5 miss match Every time. Does anyone know a solution.
I Am rooted and I am running the latest version of lolipop. Is lolipop compatible with CWM?
Thanks for the help! Shaun.*:good:
Solution: install TWRP instead of CWM. CWM is no longer updated, and certain ROMs won't flash with it. The version you want is jfltexx.
How do I get twrp? Could you link me please? And can it be flashed with Odin?
If you are facing MD5 mismatches it means your backups are probably destroyed. It could be happened because of a bad sd card or (probably) because of a bad , older or corrupted recovery.
Just try to download a recovery from here.
I would suggest you to download a .tar (touch) version (flashable with odin)
If for some reason you cannot flash recovery with odin but (as you said) you have a rooted rom ,you could flash it by terminal or by using adb.In this case just extract recovery.img from the .tar file to your adb tools folder and flash it by using the commands:
Code:
adb push recovery.img /tmp
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p21
dd if=/tmp/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p21
After that you should have flash the recovery to your recovery partition.

If you want a twrp recovery instead of a cwm you can download it from here.
You should also take a look here for the lattest version of twrp recovery.
You can find the official release of TWRP for GT-I9505 here.
Thanks for the help what would you recommend? CWM OR TWRP?
And is it true that clockwork no longer updates

Maybe someone make an unofficial build for this device in the future but I think the official support has been stopped.
I would recomend you TWRP as it has adb mode if your rom and download mode goes down.

I found this. Although I am not quite sure if this is for ICS or JB.
Please beware that this file is meant for model SGH-i437. I don't think it will work on I437P variant or I437Z variant...
Here's the new link,

Yes it's with terminal emulator.
Have a look here for the command to use.
It can be used with any recovery.img, but you'll need root for the command to work.

yes, all same. use "Terminal Emulator" app from Play Store by Jack Palevich, you need root and busybox. open it, type "su" then enter, and then type again "dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p21 of=/storage/sdcard0/stockrecovery.img".. then an image file of your backuped recovery was created in your sdcard.. you can change the path of the "of"
HEY TYS0N!! THIS IS MY REPORT: I've flashed your "NON TOUCH CWM - the md5 file" with ODIN 3.07 and I got ONLY the external sd card shown in recovery but labeled as internal (I TRIED REBOOT but still same).. I was panicing.. then I flashed root with it.. and change my recovery as soon as it finished boot with "dd" command with the official one. I reboot to the *official* recovery, then got it all worked..
to the point: does the files that you provided is different?? or any damage in your files? do you got it with your phone working? if there's any, please change.. what's dangerous that people using your files and get their device brick.

Recovery is the same for all versions. Using triangle away might help get your official status back if you triggered the custom binary count by flashing recovery through Odin.
Depends on what you've done to get your status modified.

Then I installed the clockwork recovery 6.0.2.7 to get root.
currently I'm on 2.6.0.0 and I was thinking of the benefits to upgrading to the latest version, plus also the risks involved. Whats the best way to upgrade TWRP ?
Use goomanager. It's by far the easiest since it's mostly automated.

I just downloaded the latest version of TWRP, booted into the bootloader and loaded the image by
Code:
fastboot flash recovery {insert name of image file here}
. Easy peasy,,,
oops, it's a bit late. I found the goomanager and installed it, trouble is I installed the OTA update which has set my device unrooted. There is no TWRP any more, not sure how to get into recovery mode as a dead android with a red triangle appears. I'm unlocked, but just cant get into recovery.
I took a full TWRP backup before I started, any tips ?

Just use ADB to Fastboot flash recovery. Either Fastboot flash your root file or copy it to your device. If you copy it to your device, then boot to recovery and flash your Superuser or SuperSU .zip. You don't want to restore your backup though if your on the latest OTA now and your backup is the previous OTA.

Wug works well.. Simple too.

theres TWRP flashable zips in the TWRP thread, this is the easiest if you alrady got TWRP
you can use wug to install it for the first time then use goomanager to update it later or TWRP manager to dl manually.

TWRP 2.6.3.2 can't flash 4.4 ROMS. You need to update to 2.6.3.3 or 2.6.3.4 for that. You should be able to search to find a link, because I don't think there's a dedicated topic to anything above 2.6.3.2.

The thing is i am stuck at TWRP as I wiped the davic, cache, system and data. Can i install the Latest version from the TRWP recovery itself?
If YES then how can i copy the latest version files into my phone?
If NO then what should i do? I am stuck in the TWRP after all.
Do you have a backup? I would think the easiest way would be to restore and then download and flash.
Or just flash an old ROM if you have one on the phone.
I'm not too experienced otherwise, but i think download mode would work? I haven't actually used that before though.

1. flash back the CM10.2 and start from there
2. flash new recovery image via adb then flash new firmware

You don't have to flash a new recovery with adb. Just find the image file for your phone then download an app called flashify. It takes less than a sec to flash then your done.

if you are like me you already realized that running odin again to install, CF-Auto-Root-herolte-heroltexx-smg930f.zip won't do anything.
1) put SuperSu zip file somewhere on your phone (https://download.chainfire.eu/964/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328.zip)
2) you will need to reinstall twrp-3.0.2-1-herolte.img.tar via odin AP but don't auto reboot (https://dl.twrp.me/herolte/twrp-3.0.2-1-herolte.img.tar.html)
3) manual reboot and IMMEDIATELY go into recovery by holding down the magically combination. if you missed it then you will have to do step 2 again.
4) once in recovery install supersu zip from step 1 and you will get root back
should work for s7 edge (935) too but you will need to use the correct files
hope that help

OP has missed one step.
You have to flash boot.img from official samsung firmware through TWRP(if you have TWRP installed) or you can install through odin. Make sure that your build number matches with firmware file. You have to do this before you are going to reinstall TWRP. After flashing boot.img file you will stuck in bootloop don't get panic. Flash supersu along with encryption disabled file attached in link. Then boot into android. You would definitely see supersu along with superuser script installed. No you have root access. Cheers

U can download any samsung firmware from there. You will have to just search your device name to show the relevant builds. Makes sure that your build number (on your phone settings-->About-->build number ) is same as the file you are going to install
