I had 4g and was looking at the service mode and now it won't pick 4g up i'm running lollipop any help would be great.
I am afraid I can't help you other than writing that I too had severe LTE/4G problems on lollipop. Samsungs lollipop that is. Wouldn't stay on the network, terrible signal strength and so on. No tethering or hotspot when I somehow managed to use LTE. Had to change manually to 3G to get my tablet to connect to the internet. Weird. Ever since I'm running cm 12.1 and dumped the Samsung firmware I get stronger signals, am on 4G all the time and am very happy. None of my peripherals has issues to reach internet now. To me theae problems seemed to be Samsung related. Which firmware do you use?

Have had the AT&T Galaxy S4 for a few days now and I have noticed that in my area if I go from a 4G area to a 4G LTE area the phone doesn't seem to prefer to connect to the LTE band.
Perfect example being I can sit next to a friend who has a Lumia 920 and he has LTE signal. On my S4, it shows plain 4G.
If I put the phone into Airplane mode and then take it back out, it will show the 4G LTE.
It seems to also do this if I go from a Wireless network the phone will prefer 4G over 4G LTE.
Any thoughts on this?

I noticed this also. It takes a significant amount of time for my phone to switch to LTE. I used to have great LTE signal at my university with S3, but now with S4 I only get 2 bars of regular HSPA 4G.
No problems here but I'm on rogers in Canada

I need a 3G/4G toggle for my 4G Note 3. The ones in the play store are directing me to the sittings window where I need to do all the process myself which I can do without a toggle installed. I need a toggle to switch between 3G and 4G direct without further steps.Does anyone know one that works with Note 3.
Thanks
PS, my device is not rooted and I'm not planning to root it for such a need.
It switches automatically between the two depending on what signal you are getting. I don't think anyone's bothered to do it as there seems no need four it.

Okay so I am rooted and live in an area where the 4G speed is awesome strength is fair but for some reason my phone decides the barely dialup speeds of 3g is a priority and always switches to it. Basically what I am asking is.... since I'm rooted is there really an app that let's me shut off 3g but keep 4G lte on or whatever? Thanks in advance

Basically I have tried stock reset using LG Flashing tool i have rooted and tried numerous roms, but the problem is i boot my phone it has 4gLTE full then 5 minutes in it switches to 3g network. I have called verizon and tried everything they told me. Also i have even tried and made sure it was on the correct network which is Global or CDMA/LTE
I wanted to know if any deveopler can help me here to figure out the issue with why its not staying connected to 4g?
One of two things. There is issues with the towers around u which would be a Verizon problem. Or its hardware related

its sounding like its hardware related before i upgraded to the LG g2 i had .. i even dialed *228 to locate towers my area is all red on 4glte and im right next to the tower
can someone please help me with this issue it is irritating me very much because i pay for 4glte not 3g ****
so no update on this no one having the same issues as me loosing 4glte and connecting to 3g
Have you tried a new SIM card? On some LTE devices dialing *228 can actually screw up the SIM data. You should try a new card.

Have you tried any of the different radios / modems? Might be worth a shot.

Just got my G2 a couple days ago and I can confirm that I am having the same issue. I haven't found any fixes yet. It does seem that as long as I am actively using the data network, I keep 4g. Once I quit using data or go to wi-fi though, I switch back to 3g after a short period. Quick toggle of airplane mode and almost instantly connects back to 4g again, with the same results of dropping shortly thereafter.
I'm in a spotty area, 4G sticks on one bar and rarely reverts to 3G. Signal loss very rarely. Always comes back auto. Faulty modem sw, SIM, hardware, or towers.
I called lg about the issue they say it was Verizon's fault and there radios .. So they sent me the international version works perfect now I would recommend anyone here to drop Verizon they are **** and highly overpriced
Updated my phone (VZW LG G2) to the latest software patch that went out recently (Dec 20/21?) and now my phone will default to 3G service more often than 4G LTE. My home gets very strong LTE service and I could speedtest up to 20mbps at times on it. After I updated, however, my phone will connect to 3G about 90% of the time. Rarely does it connect to LTE. This isn't just at my home, so I don't think it's a local tower issue as I've had the same problem in town as well.
Has anyone else encountered a problem with LTE connectivity after updating to VS98012B?
edit: If I switch on airplane mode and then turn it off, sometimes it will switch back to LTE.
Flashed modem only here, no problems.
If you are still on pure stock, call Verizon and let them address it for you.
I've been searching for this problem as well. My wife's HTC One is sitting beside my G2 Rick solid on LTE, and mine is stuck on 3g. This only seems to happen in the house, so maybe hers just gets a better signal than the G2. On the rare occasion I do get lte, my speed tests are always much slower than hers. I know it's not an lte problem because out in town with a stronger signal I can get about 40 Mb d/l

Yup, I have the same issue after upgrading to vs98012B. Mine is rooted by the way.

I'm not seeing this problem. In fact, it's the opposite for me. I'm rooted and didn't want to go through the hassle of losing my custom recovery, so I waited until a stock, rooted version of 12B released. I flashed it as well as the corresponding 12B modem zip. I live in a fringe LTE area and it was not uncommon for me to see 3G in my house. Since the upgrade I've only been seeing LTE. I'm very happy with this update.
I've noticed today seems like I'm stuck on 3g

I recently gave the wife my S4 and got the Note 3. My suspicion that 4G LTE speed with the Note was confirmed when I ran a speedtest. I admit I'm not in a great coverage area, but I get about 14mbs download on the S4 with a Wilson booster. I know that's not much, but hey, at least I can watch a video without buffering. :victory: But with the Note I'm getting about 5mbs and sometimes the signal just drops out altogether and I have to toggle airplane mode to get it back. I'm running Hyperdrive RLS7 4.3 with MJE baseband. I've seen other threads talking about flashing different modems and wonder if that would help. Has anyone come across this issue? I'd hate to get rid of this phone, but 4G is all the internet I've got and these speeds are just to slow. Any help would be appreciated.

The connectivity on this phone is horrible. I've had mine since launch and I travel alot. Everywhere I go its spotty. I believe I'm done with the Verizon and Samsung Combo. They are horrible together.

Thanks for your input guys. Sad to say, I think you're right. Seems like the service with my razr maxx was a lot more reliable and faster. Shame, because this is a great device.
Flash different modem/radio if rooted for improved reception.
Are you rooted? If so, you may consider flashing a different modem/radio in Odin. I am currently running the MJ7 modem/radio on the KK NC2 and am very satisfied. If you are interested, check out the link below.

Thanks, I'm willing to give anything a try. Really want to keep this phone. Had to take the S4 back from my wife in the meantime ... She was not happy.
