I am interested in downgrading to a Kit Kat Rom.
Do you still use 4.4.2 to 4.4.4? If so, how does it compare? Are there any apps that won't work as a result?

Never updated to Lollipop.....always had my device with KitKat on it so I can't offer a comparison.....The reason I've stayed with KK?......
Xposed and it's associated modules aren't compatible with Touchwiz LP.........

You've got a G900F... use another rom & I think xposed works fine. I hear AICP is nice. I'm on official cyanogenmod nightly but the battery blows
Although I suppose flashing a rom would probably trip the knox counter, but idk
Lol....It would trip knox.....and for me at the moment, an intact warranty is more important than going fully custom (my phone is only just 6 months old).....I've got my phone how I want it as it is.....
I'm rooted and debloated and (for what it's worth) my antutu scores are consistently higher than a standard unrooted stock S5. Maybe in another 6 months or so, I *might* consider CM or another cusRom, but not just yet......

My battery isn't as good as I had hoped on OC5 OPTIMALROM with adb debloat and greenify.
I have tried calibrating. I have tried many things. I've heard I may need to replace the battery.
Alliance Build 2 for 4.4.x looks very appealing. I may have to make the swap =)
Made a post about extended life batteries. 5000+mah sounds amazing.

Is there a stock debloated pre rooted 4.4 for i9505?
so i have been staying updated with the new kitkat roll out for the s4, i have a UK i9505 lte, i have seen the odin flashable file for a few country's so far, i was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to a clean deboated rom. i am currently running stock 4.2.2 UK rom rooted with a clockwork mod based recovery. unfortunately i have knox and its been tripped 0 x 1. if that makes a differance.
i have searched the development section but could not seem to find a debloated offcial kitkat rom, i would attempt making one. myself but i find the s4 much more confusing compared to the flashing process which came with my previous s2, and dont want to risk bricking my s4.
thanks in advance.
kind regards

There's a few out there, I recommend the below if you want stock, pre-rooted, debloated (customisable by you), without the Knox stuff (might not matter so much to you as you've already tripped it, but shouldn't matter).

thanks for your reply, i did see this, but i can read many users finding little bugs here and there, and i really was looking for a very reliable clean rom, with jjust minimum mods, il give this a try if there is no other clean stock kitkat released, or i may just flash the official with Odin and manually root and clean it up.

Any issues are usually caused by not doing a clean install. There are the odd couple of things that seem to be caused by having the old (pre-knox) boot loader, but they will be fixed sooner or later. Again you should be fine if your already on the new boot loader anyway. Any problems just say, plenty of support and advice from the dev and users.

AFAIK, Xposed doesn't work YET on TW based roms.
I don't know if will work on S5 with non-TW roms though.....
I've been using Xposed on my rooted S5 with 4.4.2 for more than 6 months without issue so far.

Yes, yes, and yes.. Just don't try to go crazy with 50 modules... It works if you work it.

AFAIK, Xposed doesn't work on TW based Lollipop roms.
(see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811)
It does work though on Jellybean roms (Android 4.x).
I have _Alexndr's Devbase rom installed (Lollipop) on my S5 and it works very well.
I even have it deodexed.
I'm using rooted touchwiz 4.4.2 and xposed works just fine......There are issues with touchwiz 5.0.+ at the moment... .

I recently bought Galaxy S5 G900F and i tried to flash few custom roms but it just won't boot, it gets stuck at first Samsung screen (the black and white one) and it hangs there, the phone is properly rooted, i've tried to flash roms with both TWRP and ClockworkMod, all goes well and after reboot it gets stuck...i'm not new in all of this and i did it countless times before on my other phones including another S5, i also have Galaxy Alpha which is running custom rom and like i said i had S5 before, and never had any issues with flashing custom roms...flashing custom recovery, supersu and in the end custom rom goes without any issues, then after reboot it get's stuck, and that happens with every single custom rom. I'm running stock Lollipop btw. Any suggestions?
Did you try wiping dalvik and cache and factory resetting (all) in recovery before booting?.....sometimes that's all it needs.....
Also, don't forget that the first boot of ANY custom rom can take longer than you'd expect.......

Yes, i did all that, like so many times before but this time nothing works. I know that first boot can take longer but it doesn't get stuck on a Samsung boot animation but on a first screen, it doesn't even start to boot.
What's the difference between this S5 and your other one?.......
Was the other unit running stock KK?
If it was, maybe you could try flashing THIS unit to stock KK, then rooting it, CWMing it and custom flashing it from the KK base........
That's the only other thing I can think of......

But one thing to bear in mind, I've read that you have to be REALLY thorough with the wipes when reverting back from Lollipop......Some people have said that wiping data at least TWICE is necessary or booting problems will be faced.....

Both are European G900F, and the other one was running 5.0 also, and i never had any problems with installing and booting custom roms...i really don't know what's wrong here.
I know that the version of CWM/TWRP have to be compatible with whatever version of custom rom you are trying to flash.......could there be an issue there?

Both CWM and TWRP are for this S5 variant....i'm gonna try flashing some CyanogenMod rom and see what will happen then, all the roms i couldn't boot are N4 and S6 ports
I just booted CM12....same recovery, same everything and it booted in like a minute or two...
I guess that means you're sorted then?......

Yes, thanks a lot for your quick replies....I needed KT TWRP for S6 and N4 rom ports....
Hi guys i recently just myself a galaxy s5. I noticed that a few of mates got an update on their s5's but not on mine? Still stuck on the 4.4.2. I've tried to update it but this pops up "operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software updates using samsung kies on your pc or visit a customer service centre." At the moment i don't have my comouter on me (long story).
You'll need a PC
Stock ROM from sammobile dot com
ODIN on PC to flash it
You could try fully unrooting it if that's what's making it custom, by opening SuperSU (If that has been installed) and using the fully unroot option in settings
But if you have a custom recovery or kernel, or ROM, you'll need the PC and ODIN method
If the OP has root access, he could try flashing the stock firmware/rom with flashfire or Mobile Odin.......pc not necessary.......

Might be difficult downloading the ROM and extracting it using just a phone, but yea if OP has the ROM, nice tip

Always good to have more than one method
These days though, you're not usually far away from a PC, sure OP could borrow one if needed
Long time lurker... here goes my first post, be gentle!
I bought my s5 and rooted it a long time ago but I haven't kept up it up to date. I'm still on 4.4.2 and I think it is finally time to try 5.0
Since I'm so out of date, I want to make sure I update my phone without bricking it or losing xposed framework.
My current device's system info:
Andriod Version: 4.4.2
Build: ANCG
Kernal: 3.4.0-964333
Bootloader: G900VVRU1ANCG
Rooted
Stock ROM
Safestrap NOT installed
Xposed framework installed with these modules:
Greenify
Xprivacy
Wanam Xposed
Downloads 2SD
With such an out of date phone, is it safe to just follow the instructions in this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...w-to-update-to-g900voe1-5-0-keeproot-t3149784
Are there any known issues on Lollipop with xposed or any of the modules I use?
I think lollipop allows apps to access the SD card again, so I won't need the downloads 2SD module anymore, right?
I have read mixed reports of Xprivacy working on 5.0, if there is anyone using it on the Verizon S5, how's it working for you?
Thanks!

But why is rooted bod5 lollipop bad? Besides not being able to upgrade to newer versions of lollipop, did you have a bad experience with bod5?
I'm ok with not being able to upgrade further. I stayed with 4.4.2 for a long time, I have no problem staying on bod5 for awhile.. Unless there are other good reasons why lollipop Itself is not worth upgrading to.

You can install rooted OG5 roms. I'm running a stock deodexed OG5 build (rooted) and it's pretty smooth.
With such an out of date phone, is it safe to just follow the instructions in this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/veri...proot-t3149784
If you want xposed on OG5, no. It needs a deodexed rom and that OG5 is odexed. You can use this one if you want xposed on OG5: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/development/vzwstock-based-tw-rom-t3178953
Are there any known issues on Lollipop with xposed or any of the modules I use?
Xposed runs but it needs a special version (just do a google search for samsung xposed lollipop). Whenever I run greenify on xposed it causes bootloops for me, but I think it might work fine for some people. Wanam xposed has a special version for lollipop so make sure to switch to that.
I think lollipop allows apps to access the SD card again, so I won't need the downloads 2SD module anymore, right?
I don't think you need it, but when you install check to see if it works. You can always downgrade.
I have read mixed reports of Xprivacy working on 5.0, if there is anyone using it on the Verizon S5, how's it working for you?
It worked for me when I ran it a few months ago, but if the reports are mixed take my success with a grain of salt.

Thank you for actually answering my questions!!
I will attempt OG5 using a deodexed version so I can install the samsung lollipop xposed. Hope I don't screw it up :-/ I've rooted and played around with a few phones before with no problems, but the last time I messed with a phone was over a year ago so I'm pretty rusty.
cheers!
edit: To use the deodexed version of OG5, did you use the muniz_ri method with FireFlash and just replace the muniz_ri ROM with the deodexed ROM? Or did you follow the instructions in this thread? Or something completly different?
Btw I'm still on 4.4.2 NCG but I have installed SS
Since you are at NCG already I think you can start with rooted odex stock. You should flash muniz_ri rooted odex stock with flashfire, it ll full wipe for default also. After that you 100% can flash any G900V lollipop rom you want with flashfire or safestrap, I choosed FF for myself. I am not sure, maybe you can flash deodex right away, but after some lurked and questions I personally did as described in first sentence. Don't forget to do backup, samsung for example. I was in your position not so much time ago.
i second that lollipop is terrible. go to 4.4.4 and stay. look in page 2 or 3 of android development for ricks rom and flash that, its the best kitkat rom and it just work way better than 5.0
