Please help! I'am using model SM-N900. Today, I wanted to downgrade from my 5.0 custom ROM to stock 4.4.2. I downloaded the 4.4.2 firmware and opened ODIN. I selected AP mode and selected the .tar.md5 file I extracted and it loaded it up. I booted the phone into download mode. I selected auto reboot and F. Reset time. I clicked start and it started. It went along well until it got to system.img in which it stopped and failed. Now I tried a lollipop image, and it came up with the same result. I tried flashing the TWRP image and it flashed successfully. I was able to boot into TWRP and use it. I now tried flashing a custom rom. I tried a AOSP lollipop rom, 5.0 TW rom, and a 4.4.2 TW rom and they all booted to a black screen. I'am now desperate to fix my seemingly bricked device so somebody out there, please help! Thanks in advance.
I also tried flashing a bootloader I found somewhere in XDA for the N900 and I'm still able to flash TWRP and use it and access download mode but it hasn't changed my problem.

What bootloader was you using and what one have you tried to flash
Sent from my SM-N920F using Tapatalk
I'am not sure what bootloader I was trying to use before but I was on a custom lollipop TW rom so maybe its a lollipop bootloader? I flashed the one linked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/safe-to-downgrade-ll-to-kk-sm-n900-t3016966
UPDATE
TWRP factory reset and other wipe functions except cache wip are no longer working the wipe completes with a blue error. Was it because I accidentally checked nand erase all in TWRP?

I downloaded a pit file for my device and used it along with my kitkat firmware. This time, the flash succeeded and my device booted to a message saying data is corrupt. I did a factory reset from recovery and rebooted. The device successfully booted up and now I'm up and running again and downloading all my apps and stuff. No need to swap motherboard!
congratulations mate

What exactly does a pit file do though? When I selected it it selected the re-partition option which everybody says not to use but it was the only way my device is successfully up and running again. Why do you think flashing the .pit file along with my firmware file worked?

basically a pit file increases partition size and as yours had corrupt data the system couldn't read or rite to it so pit file allowed you to install your rom I can't believe you got away with it normally bootloader doesn't forgive but glad you sorted things

Hi guys,
I've got a problem. On Tuesday I was updating my apps on Google Play - I've updated some apps and started just to use them. One of them was popular messenger in Poland. Something's went wrong and my smarthphone freezed. I pulled out the battery after few minutes to prepare a 'soft reset', but it stucked on bootloop. I've tried to make a wipe /data, but it couldn't even mount /data, so I decided to change the ROM from networks' one to newest stock one (one file rom). Everything's went good, but it still stucks on bootloop on another boot animation. I've tried also repartitioning it using the stock rom with "totoro_0623.pit" - still the same. Wiping data after flashing didn't give any change.
When the phone was restarting after the last flash, they was written that /data can't be mounted (invalid arguments).
I don't know what should I do right now. Do you have any propositions for me?
Thanks in advance!
you can try with my firmeware
download
http://d-h.st/FhE
unzip the file
put phone into download mode
connect to pc
start odin
put the files in the following places in odin
pda in pda
modem in phone
csc in csc
begin flashing
do not remove the cable untill the phone has fully booted
it will enter stock recovery and flash csc and restart itself so leave cable connected
this firmware is a wipe pack so it should wipe all your partitions
if it fails you can try with the pit file but do not tick the repartition box in odin or you will be in trouble as you need to also include bootloader files for that

Thanks for reply.
Is it recognized as a stock rom? And the second question: what should I do when I have tick on 'repartition'? What changes will be done then? I thought it's just repartitioning and the bootloader is still the same, without any changes.

if you tick repartition it will wipe your boot partition and your phone wont be able to boot which is why you have to put bootloader files in
you dont need to repartition - in all the times iv flashed stock roms iv never had to do it
That link is for stock room firmware XXMI1 on baseband XXMC2 - its european firmware but will work on any gt-s5360 to get it working
You can always change to another baseband if you find you have no network by flashing a stock rom from your region
Sorry but I didn't have enough time to prepare it in this week. As I saw, I probably need also the bootloader files. Can somebody point me which one will be good? And another question: after changing bootloader the counter on downloading mode will be incremented?

Somebody who tried to repair this phone ticked 're-partition' in my case, but this pack has helped me a lot. Thank you guys, you're amazing.
I never had problems with flashing new firmware. But yesterday I thought to flash the newest stock rom I9505XXUFNC4, and I got:
Nand write start!
Complete(Write) operation failed.
After that, I cannot boot anymore until I flash a Pit file. I also tried to install TWRP, CWM and the last rom. Nothing, nothing and nothing. Now my root is gone and my wifi doesn't work anymore.
I'm scared that when I factory reset the thing, that I can't install a new rom. Can someone 'please' advice me what to do? For example, can I install stock rom with ADB?
I would re-download the stock firmware and try again. Maybe try an older version

I downloaded it a few times. And the other version was working fine. But as you can read in my post: I can't install anything but the pit file.

So, it'll boot only of you flash the pit first in Odin?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727
When I try to flash something, I got that error. After that it's not booting anymore. 'Problem updating firmware' message. After flashing the pit, it's booting like normal.
I tried other USB ports and cable, as some people on the net ar suggesting, but that didn't worked.

Can you boot into recovery or download mode?
What recovery do you have installed?
I have a Galaxy S4 LTE-A E330SK and have had problems similar to that when trying to install an older firmware or same version on top of the version already on there. Recovery wouldn't boot, and if Android booted, everything would force close. (I like breaking my own phone just to see if I can fix it lol.)
Any time I had severe problems that would not enable me to boot or use Odin, I boot into Recovery, under Advanced, format System, Data, Cache, sdcard, media/sdcard and reboot. That erases everything (your operating system and everything on sdcard0) and if you are stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S4 logo, then you are good to go. Reboot into Download mode, connect your cable, and open Odin. (By the way I also found out you will get errors if you try to flash twice in a row without closing and reopening Odin, so keep that in mind.)
This I would consider a clean install of Android.
Now for the iffy part... Everybody says do NOT check the repartition box when you flash the new ROM. But what I do is make sure I have the correct PIT file for my firmware version. Add PIT file under PIT in Odin, add your firmware md5 file under PDA (or AP,) tick repartition, untick Auto-Reboot (my E330SK would automatically revert back to stock recovery with Auto-Reboot selected.) F Reset Time ticked, and Start. You should have no errors now.
There might be a better way without having to format those filesystems I've stated, but haven't found it. This way has always gotten me out of a sticky situation.
Keep in mind as well, I have never been able to downgrade to an older version of Android. So recommended if you try this do it with the same firmware or newer version that is currently on your phone.

Might I mention I am using CWM Recovery as well
Yeah but I tried to install a new version and tried afterwards the current version on my phone. Tried as I already stated, several things to install and the only thing I could install, was the pit file.
Yesterday I installed CMW with Heimdall method. That worked. After that I install root from within CMW with ADB. And because I got an old backup, I didn't wanna go back that far and only flashed (with ADB) boot.img. Now I got a working phone.
I really want to update to latest firmware, but I'll try after the weekend. Don't want my weekend to be headached
Anyway. Thx for your response!

After trying and trying and trying, finally one of the USB ports let me push the new firmware (NC9) to my phone! (with Odin). After that my sd-card was unmounting itself all the time and giving errors as filesystem not recognized and being blank. Location methods didn't work correct etc.
Yesterday I managed to flash the NC4 firmware, and all is working well now!

Good night guys, so there's my problem:
I was on DN 0.6.1 custom ROM, TWRP 3.0.2.0 and rooted. Today, i wanted to go back to stock ROM, so, I downloaded the stock firmware throught sammobile, and tried to install it throught ODIN 3.11, but it's stopped at system.img, and remained stuck in it for a long time. so i decided to restart the phone..
Then it's showed the follow message:
firmware upgrade encountered an issue note 4. Please select recovery mode on kies and try again.
So, i tried to re-flash throught ODIN, but stucked at system.img again, after it, I downloaded KIES and tried restore it, but it's stopped at 2%.
I wasn't abble to go to recovery mode, only download mode, so, i extracted the ROM file, and flashed only the boot.img through ODIN. Now it's boot to recovery...
I wiped data/cache, but the following error showed up:
E: Failed to mount system (invalid argument).
and now i can't find a solution for it.. tried to do amost anything that i could find on the internet, but none solved my problem...
I'm wanting to flash PIT + CSC + PDA file, using the repartition option on ODIN, but i'm afraid that may brick my phone for ever...
I'm following this tutorial by now: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note...-t-w8-t3282641
And i need this CSC file, because my phone is the C version, could someone give me link to download it ? couldn't find in any place.
ANd there's someone who could help me ? i'm very concerned about it because i don't have money to buy another phone at the moment...
Thanks, and yes, already looked at XDA for a answer but couldn't fine any.
THANK YOU

First, thread belongs in Help section not Dev.....
Second, are you sure you downloaded the right firmware from SamMobile? If restore in TWRP works, partitions most likelyaren't jacked up.

Are you sure it's system.img not hidden.img? I ran across something after attempting ODIN flashes starting a few version back.
You need to re remove hidden.img from tar file and flash it separate. Sucks but it's been working for me.

So my beloved note 4 is very poorly and I'm unsure of how to fix her
Phone turns on and boots, sometimes takes longer than others, and I can get to Download mode and recovery.... So maybe there's hope?
It's back on stock kit kat..... Here are it's issues.
Random freezes and reboots,
Sometimes the imei is unknown, pulling sim and rebooting and dialling *#06# brings it back temporarily.
This all happened very suddenly after a MM OTA update but maybe just a coincidence.
What I've tried so far, flashed stock KK with odin and wiped in recovery, none helped.
I've downloaded the n910f 4 file repair firmware that was kindly posted in another thread, but I've read conflicting advice about ticking the repartition option in odin.... Some said do it and someone else said this would wipe my imei... Which would be obviously bad.
Has anyone had similar issues to me and found a solution? I'd be eternally grateful for any help, I love this phone and want to save it. Please help.
Kind regards steve.

Firstly I'd like to thank you for your time and help.
Thought I'd share what happened. I flashed the 4 files and pit file and it failed right at the end, tried 2 different odin versions with same results. This left me without recovery and the triangle of death saying please connect to kies.
I could still get into download mode so I flashed just the ap file from the recovery firmware, It passed but the boot took 20 minutes and at that point I pulled the battery and got Into recovery and after 2 minutes or so the blue line went by itself and it rebooted to lollipop 5.0.1
I can make phone calls and install apps, it's just a little laggy but may improve after it settles down.
Do you think I should quit while ahead? Flash MM In odin or let the phone OTA update?
Thanks again and any further thoughts appreciated.
Cheers

Did you wip cache & factory reset after flash ?
Yes you can flash mm with pit file but must do factory reset after every flash to get clean operating system and avoid bootloops.
I suggest flash in odin mm instead of ota to avoid any issues.
Once your phone boot do not touch just let it rest for atleast 10 minutes to settle down.

You got twrp recovery? If you do, you probably wiped system partition too.
You don't need to flash pit, bootloader etc. You can just flash any custom rom to get it booted again.
Otherwise you'll have to download firmware to flash in odin. You probably need one starting with FXXU3 if you was updated to latest MM version, or N.
I wiped all. Can you guide me to download right file?
