I have the fingerprint scan enabled in the lockscreen. I realized that to bypass that, all you have to do is press the home button twice to the camera mode, from there just hit the home button again and it takes you to your homescreen. That is a huge flaw that I cannot understand why it has not been addressed.
Nope, mine stays locked after leaving camera app. I have t mobile version.
Not on my sprint variant.

Doesnt work on my AT&T note5, open up the camera and I can take pictures, once it's closed it locks again.
Op. Did you check your timer on your fingerprint lock? It is possible you are doing this inside the unlocked window before it locks itself.
OK I figured it out. It may still be a flawless but it's not a security issue. If you test it out with a finger that is not registered to the phone it won't work. In other words the only person who could access the phone doing this is the owner of the phone using one of the fingers that is registered on the phone.

It's actually a bit amusing the fingerprint scanner is fast and accurate enough to create this impression.
Had me scared for a second cause mine "did" this too! Thankfully the finger print scanner on this phone is decent finally. The Note 4 was garbage, and even the S6 Edge when I had it was too slow to want to use it. Now this is just great.
You're right, I believe I activated the camera via home button at least three times before going to home screen.

Hi
I agreed with the lock screen issue.
It can be reproduce easily
1) Log into your homescreen as normal (dont matter if u r using pin, password or fingerprint)
2) Now, Pressed the "Power botton", your screen should shutoff/blackout as normal
3) Next, Pressed the "Power botton" ... your screen will come back ON ..at this moment just swipe the middle of your screen...
Wah-la...u login without giving any password/fingerprint autheticantion.
Note:
I have set it to "Lock Instantly with Power Key" and Lock Automatically to "Imeadiately"
Hopefully Samsung will fixed it sooner

Friends waiting for your help. Since the phone is a kind of getting the key to unlock it with the fingerprint reader could not open and shut the phone off, unfortunately I can not restart.

The phone has to be on for the reader to work. Its a password, just ur finger. and it doesnt lock it, just turn it off. It says SCAN NOW, or something lol
Press the power button to get to the unlock screen, then swipe.
It only unlocks it

You can always turn off the phone just by holding down the power button. That will bypass the need to use the fingerprint reader. (Of course you will need to use either your fingerprint or your passcode to turn on and unlock the phone.)

Dear all,
I've just received my N4 for a couple of hours. It's a brandnew one from U.S market.
Right after unboxing, I switched it on and signed in my Google account. Everything run just fine for a couple of minutes when i swipe through those introduction steps from a Brandnew Vanilla Android. After that, it went wild.
When i turned the screen on the 2nd time of its life time, the Lockscreen rotated automatically and then just hang there. The whole device freezed right after the screen was turned on THE 2ND TIME!. It forced me to press and hold Power button to restart the device, but that problem continues to occur on every working sessions.
Right now i have to completely turn it off and don't know how to fix yet
A just-unboxed-device with a fault like this? Life's Sucking, not Good LG!
What can i do now? Please give me some advices, i'm very frustrating right now.
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: Now after trying to unlock bootloader, root, flash custom ROM (xenonHD), even tried to disable all lockscreen types (currently set to None), it appears that the whole device will freeze after exactly the 2nd time of screen-on! How on earth does this s**t occur????
Anyone? Please help

Problem is the device now is in Vietnam, and it'll take much time to deliver it back to Google.
Wish someone would have a solution...
Try to get into safe mode and disable screen rotation:
Using LG Nexus 4 LG E960 Safe Mode
To recover your phone when malfunctioning.
1. Turn off your phone and reboot. When you see the booting animation press and hold the Volume Down Key . Your main screen will then be displayed with the words "Safe mode" in lower left corner.
2. From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key and tap Settings > search for disable screen rotation

If that doesn't work, try to reset to factory:

Thank you for being so kind. I've just tried and no luck.
By somehow, if it manages to turn all the lockscreen and homescreen to landscape, it will be fine. But i know the N4 cannot rotate homescreen, so this is definitely WEIRD! I feel that the "spirit" of a tablet's OS is running inside my phone, and it decides not to run at all LOL
seems that RMA's the only choice....
A few days ago my knock on broke. I've changed Rome, kernels, and restored a stock backup to see if any of that was the problem and it still won't work. Then I noticed that a line of my my screen is not registering touches. If I swipe across the area it registers, just not to touch. I have a feeling that with a portion of the screen dead it is affecting the knock on feature. Can anyone attest to this or does anyone know what my next course of action might be to get knock on back. I have included a picture of lcd screen test to show which portion of the screen is not registering touch. Thanks in advance!

I'm thinking factory reset but I came here first because it still works with the screen on.
Oh yeah, what app ate you using to see the dead zones?

The app is called lcd test or lcd screen test. Just an update. The dead zone is gone now and knock on works again. It is more than likely a hardware issue with digitizer and will probably come back, but for now I am getting my knock on.

I guess I'll be sending my phone to lg..
Posting from my LG G2 while driving an Evo IX.
As a temporary work around for the dead zone, I recommend installing the one handed xposed app (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-one-handed-mode-devices-t2735815) and toggling it to shift the screen down by 100 pixels. This allows you to move necessary buttons (such as the install button in google play) out of the dead zone temporarily.
I've sent my phone back to lg to have this corrected. Seems a little silly that I have to work around a dead spot on a new phone with less than two months of usage.

Okay folks. Knock-off works, but Knock-on doesn't.
Turn off the setting in the gestures menu. Reboot your phone. Turn on setting. Power button lock your phone.
Now tap screen firmly for one second then tap firmly again. (No quick tapping like you're trying to turn the screen off)
Say this out loud. (1.- 2.)
One dot, two dot.
The first touch has to be firm and for a solid 1 second.

Well it still doesn't work. Regrettably...
I have this same problem on mine now....
I wish we could figure out what is causing these issues....Has anyone flashed TOT back to stock ZVC to see if it takes care of the issue?
EDIT:
Fix For Me:
Since Sprint doesn't have the update touchscreen driver,
Goto: Device Test-->Individual Item-->Touch Draw Test - Auto
Draw the outline as close as you can (notice the touch screen works everywhere!) then press your power button.
It will ask you PASS FAIL - SELECT PASS! (trying again if only Fail - but it worked on fail too for me)
NEXT:
5689#*980# (From Dialer)
Goto: Device Test-->Individual Item-->Touch Draw Test - Manual
Draw the outline as close as you can (notice the touch screen works everywhere!) then press your power button.
It will ask you PASS RETRY FAIL - SELECT PASS!
Exit, your touchscreen should be responding now that was previously dead.
This worked on my Sprint G2!! First time the dead zone (btw, it's always the same region at upper half of the screen, compared to other people's screenshots) happened, I thought it was the running out storage space, because after I transferred some of the photos out, it worked again. This morning, same thing happened and I moved all my photos out, leaving 3Gb free space, but did not recover. Tried the update touch firmware method, not working, but this one worked (my Touch draw test auto actually failed), but still after the manual draw test and reboot, it worked.

Sadly, it kept happening to me and eventually the method I used stopped working. I sent the phone since it was under warranty to LG. They replaced screen and digitizer. Took care of issue permanently. Sorry for bad news, but it will prob get worse till you have to replace too. ?
Definitely enjoying the Nexus 6P after getting it yesterday. After bringing it to work that, I have to say that it's a little frustrating having to pick it up to unlock it with the fingerprint reader on the back. Coming from a Galaxy S6 this wasn't an issue since it was on the front. Besides that I'm definitely enjoying this phone more.
I was thinking about getting a dock for it, but realizing it would be the and issue. This is where double tap to wake would really come in handy if a dev ends up figuring out a way to get that to work (if it's even possible).
I was going to try to look into making my fitbit a trusted device if possible which could help the issue. Anyone else struggling a bit with the same thing? I really like having the fingerprint reader on the back otherwise. Or anything else people are using for this? I definitely don't want to set a trusted location at work...
Thanks in advance!

are you to lazy to press the power button on the side and punching in a code?
While the phone is face up on the desk you can still unlock the phone by swiping up from the bottom of the screen and using your normal unlock method. The other option is to lay it face down and touch the sensor before picking it up.
I was thinking about not using Smart Lock because of the finger print sensor. I found it convenient to have it unlock paired to my smart watch because of this reason. I don't have to pick it up to unlock.
I Smart Lock with my Pebble Time, and a 5 second lock delay when not paired. I wear my watch when I'm out of the house but it usually stays within range and unlocked when I'm at home as well. I do find myself still using the fingerprint scanner to wake the device as I take it out of my pocket even when a PIN isn't required.

Unfortunately I've never found smartlock with a fitbit reliable. It only senses the fitbit when the fitbit syncs....it's not always connected. But for real....press the side button and punch in your pin. 1st world problems.
I turned off the finger print scanner for this reason alone. Now I'm just waiting for NRT (I'm too lazy to manual root these days) to be updated so i can root it and fix the rotation on the lockscreen and hopefully add double tap to wake as well. I normally have my phone on a cell phone stand when I'm at my desk, so its always in landscape. Not having the lockscreen able to rotate is dumb, especially in the car. I'm also thinking of just putting one of those NFC stickers on that cell phone stand at work. Just need to find the ones i have.
Dt2w is available with flar2's kernel now
Double tap to wake is available with stock kernel, as well. Just need to enable it using the code in flar2's kernel thread. Of course, this requires root.
On topic, I find myself lifting the phone up to use my fingerprint to unlock the device. Sure, I could double tap it and input my pattern, but it seems easier to just pick it up.
Wasn't trying to come across as lazy (although I'm sure I did!) Just adjusting to the fingerprint reader on the back and was trying to get different thoughts. I'm possibly going to give double tap to wake a try, thanks for mentioning that.

Dont worry about it, I don't like it either. A sensor in front is just as easy to use and unlike the rear sensor can be used without picking up the phone. Nor do I want to enter in my very long and complex password every time I want to check my notifications, use the calculator, etc. as the phone sits next to me on the desk. Calling this lazy is baffling to me, I work hard to lay out my phone out and configure it so it can perform with absolute maximum efficiency allowing me to get get to and use any application or the phone itself with the minimum time invested. Of course everyone knows they can enter their password as an alternative, suggesting it is pointless and why anyone would want to I cant guess.
For me in the most part it's a non issue because the majority of times when I have the phone sitting next to me in that scenario it's at work or at home and the phone is already unlocked. Double tap and I'm rolling. Course I knew all this going in but I had hoped I'd make friends with the rear location and that hasn't happened and probably wont. I like this phone, pretty darn solid device but its not perfect.
If the sensor was on the front, people would complain it wasn't on the back. Can't please everyone with that.
In my opinion, it's in the perfect spot. Coming form a Nexus 6 and before that a Moto X 2013, I loved the dimple and always put my finger there naturally. The Nexus Imprint is the same way. Today I forgot my Pebble Time on the charger so Smart Lock isn't active. Using the sensor is working great instead of entering my PIN. I think the placement on the back makes the most sense because there is already a way to unlock from the front (touch screen). Putting both on the front would likely mean a bigger device/smaller screen or very odd placement (off the the side of the speaker or something). The only happy medium would be putting it on the side with the power button, but that could still mean you'd wear out the physical power button using it all the time. The Nexus Imprint has no moving parts and saves your power button for the good stuff like getting into the bootloader.
I use smart lock with locations for my home and office so i don't need to unlock the phone when it's on a desk at work or at home. I also set my phone lock to 20 min after sleep and to not lock instantly when power button is pressed. I don't see the need for your phone to be constantly locked. If I leave it somewhere it will lock in 20 mins but if I'm actively using it then I don't want to to keep locking.

I don't use it, but I've seen people say that it works better if you setup four locations directly around your home instead of just one centered on it. This way they overlap and if you're in any of them, you'll be unlocked. The very center being the most saturated area with all four circles overlapping.
How do you get the phone to recognize youe fingerprint? It is so annoying how it keep failing to recognize the fingerprint and asks to enter the code or pattern.

Go to Settings -> Security -> Nexus Imprint. Follow on screen instructions to register your fingerprints (up to 5).
I believe there is a setting to not have to input a code every time, check to see if that is your issue. I only have to enter a pin after a reboot, then just the fingerprint unlocks the phone.

First I would say to clean it well. Second i would suggest you reset the print and add extra sets too. Also what ROM, firmware ect are you running? I have had flawless experiences with my sensor across various ROMs. I do a full set scan for 4 fingers. My 2 pointers and my 2 middles as well as another scan set for odd positions. This ensures no matter what I'm holding or position my phone's in it will be easily unlocked.

I've had the same problem since the last week after updating a resurrection remix version. I think it's been doing something weird, but it'll unlock normal in the car and stuff so I don't know. Seems like when I put my finger on the sensor it will wake the device and want me to enter a PIN. If I put an unregistered finger on the sensor it won't wake it it'll stay black screen. It might be something to do with when you are at home with smart unlock. Hmmm....

Edit: Found the issue. Double tap to lock ftom Nova was forcing the device to request pattern or pin.
