I received mine on Tuesday from Sprint. Coming from the Note 3, which is a great phone, I see this as a big improvement for me. I had a 64g card in my Note 3 along with 32g internal and never used up more than 35g. As for the battery, I bought several batteries online and may have swapped batteries out of my phone 3 or 4 times in two years that I had the phone. I was never too far from a power source and even when I go hiking or camping, I carry a couple of portable Ankhor battery chargers. For the note 5, I have loaded it with everything that I need and still have 45g left. I bought 3 wireless chargers for less than $100 bucks (home, car, office) and have a very small 64g OTG flashdrive on my keychain loaded with movies. I always have both my keys and my phone with me. I consider myself a heavy user and don't see myself having an issue with the lack of storage or battery. I got almost 8 hours yesterday after playing with it most of the day. I must say that when I remove it from the wireless charger it is quite warm, but it only lasts for for a minute or so.

I have found a 3000 mAh battery on eBay for around $100 with shipping, and since I'm pretty tired of the short battery life I'm considering it. I was so embarassed when the family went skiing yesterday! My kids have smartphones (Qtek 8030 & 9100 - I keep the family on intelligent phones, my wife has a Qtek 8500 Star Trek) and they had MP3's playing all day in the slopes with only one of the three battery level stripes dissappearing, while I had to put my Atom in the car and charge it after only three hours, when it was down to less than 15 %! Which is why I'm considering either an expensive 3000 mAh or one of those cheap USB chargers where you just put in a regular AA (or was it AAA?) battery and hook it up to the mini USB port. So has anybody tried either of them?
The battery-based chargers work, there are AA and AAA models 'round here (>1 battery each) - but I haven't tried it on the Atom yet. Be aware that the Atom has a charger protection mechanism that refuses to let the battery trickle charge if it doesn't provide a rated amount of juice (this is not mentioned in the O2 site, but it's there. It's the reason why chargers that normally work on the Mini won't work on the Atom).
Personally, I'd rather get a charger that works practically everywhere than to grab an extended battery.
(Have you considered those new fangled solar powered chargers? Some of them contain internal batteries that store energy, even under artificial light - and it is this battery that is used to charge your device. This could be a better idea, but be sure to check if it works on your device.)
PS: a PDA eats battery like no tomorrow because it usually uses better processors and interfaces - the XScale on ours is the eater here. Smartphones run on a lower rated processor/card slots, and don't have touch sense screens, and thus can last for much longer. If you really need your PDA to last, well, forever - you might want to consider an extended battery or one of the CPU scaler programs.
Thanks! I forgot to say that I ate the battery with the CPU at 208 mHz (with XCpuScalar)... Anyway, I have two of those AA-chargers on the way, I'm glad they work! At home I have GP PowerBank chargers and a bunch of rechargable batteries which I will use for this. With any luck a few of those will last me all day on skis!
And I didn't know about that protection mechanism in the Atom, I have been wondering why it's so extremely picky when it comes to charging from USB cables and stuff like that.
And I hadn'd even heard about the solar charging option, but I see there are a bunch of those on eBay. They look pretty cool, but unfortunately when I'm in the sun I seldom stand still long enough to put the charger and the phone anywhere for charging. If there was an affordable vest or jacket for that, though...
I think the O2's charger protection mechanisms were discussed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276400
Methinks Quanta borrowed something from Motorola.
The solar charger, btw, works under incandescent light as well (I have one - useful in a hotel room where you don't have a plug but you have access to a desktop lamp). More expensive models can supposedly work under flourescent light, but I'm a cheapskate. They work by having an internal LiON themselves, which is trickle charged by solar/incandescent power - and then the battery itself is the one that charges your PDA's battery. Many different types exist, but most of them have a 1000-3000mah internal reservoir, and the better ones have different voltage settings for differenet devices.
Yeah, but the problem is that they're too big for my jacket pockets, so they won't help me skiing.
Well, that didn't really work. So I have decided to go for quantity instead of quality: Ordering three batteries, one with a charger that charges it ouside of the phone as well as charges the phone. All in all around 40 dollars, which gives me four batteries to play with. I ain't gonna use up my phone next time I'm in the slopes! And I think the same batteries can be used on my next phone, the Atom Life. It's got a larger capacity battery, but it looks like it's the same physical shape. Then again I may be wrong, but at least I will have no problems on those boat trips this summer!
And that worked! Not to mention that the original battery has to be total an utter crap! On these new batteries I had more than twice the battery time I had on the original. Of course it's been used for about two years, but still it shouldn't be that bad! I have five year old PPCs that hasn't changed that much in battery time. Anyway, with three new batteries and the old one I can keep going for a looong time!

Some types works, some don't. It seems like only the black type work, while the shiny metallic one doesn't.
Me and my wife both have EVO's and for some reason hers doesn't hold a charge very good. Is there somewhere you recommend to buy another battery? Id like to have a charger that hooks into my cigarette lighter that'll charge a battery itself.
Check Amazon under EVO Battery.
EVO battery life sucks. You have a choice - slim sexy phone with lousy battery life or big fat phone with good battery life. Your wife's phone may drain faster simply because she uses her phone differently yours. Things like Facebook are known to drain battery very quickly, etc.
Either buy extra batteries or an external battery recharger - anyway, Amazon has them all.
On the battery charger for the car, make sure you get one rated at at least 800 ma. Many car chargers only charge at 500 ma and if you are running navigation or stream audio in the car, your battery will drain faster than it is charging so it will eventually go dead even though it is plugged in. The EVO NEVER runs directly off plugged in power. It always runs off the battery - so even when it is plugged in, it is running off the battery so you have to charge faster than you use.
Battery is fine if you tinker a little bit. But I got 2 batteries +wall charger + free shipping = 10.00 $ from ebay
I'm on Facebook twitter all day with my phone +email txt, talk and I get a full day from each charge
from my phone duh
I disagree with the comment above (mitchellvii), the Evo with the extended battery isn't that fat. Due to a large screen it evens it out. You can still use (with the extended battery) a spring holster and it will fit in a craddle and you can use the kick stand. I also like that more sturdy feeling which gives it a better weight, in my opinion, while holding it.
Amazon is a good place but so is Ebay. You have more batteries to pick from at ebay. I have bought 2 3500mAh batteries from ebay and the battery life is GREAT. Can go almost 2 days without charging with normal use (constantly on facebook, internet, and yelp- normal daily use of talk and text). Price ranges from $9-$85. Most batteries are shipped from Hong Kong so can take up to 3 weeks to ship to the U.S. And buy, if you can, using paypal for a little insurance in case the battery is defect.
You have options: If you want to stay with a slim phone- ebay has some batteries with higher charge capacity than the OEM without needing to buy a backcover- keeping it slim (1800mAh-2000mAh).
You may also look into software as well. Keeping your wifi or bluetooth on will drain your battery faster. Here are some great tips from goodandevo... http://www.goodandevo.net/2010/05/20-tips-to-improve-htc-evo-4g-battery-life.html
Hope it helped.
Try www.spider-foot.com. I got a couple for the Epic and they are great. I'm waiting for the EVO batteries to come which I ordered on 18 Nov. Also free shipping.
Ebay is the way to go. I have 8 batteries, including two 3000mah and two 1800mah along with two wall chargers and I paid less than $60 for all of them combined.
I know a lot has been posted about the N7 2012 battery problems. There are two major issues that I have been dealing with for well over a year now.
1. It takes 8 + hours for my device to fully charge. depending on how low the battery is.
2. My device will not charge with the screen on. if I play a movie with it plugged in it will not even hold a charge. I use TomTom for GPS & this is extremely frustrating.
It has been documented that the USB port could be the cause of this. I did have the USB assembly replaced once on it back in March of 2014. Also had the mainboard replaced twice in the same time period. Those repairs were due to my device not being recognized by any computer. Even after this series of repairs my device had the same issues.
Has anyone replaced the battery because of a similar issue? I am half tempted to scrap it be Android 5.0 performance suck s for an Asus Zenpad.
Thanks
same issues

Weak Charger?
I'd recommend, to almost everyone, to pick up a "Charger Doctor" off of eBay for a few bucks. These will give you a readout of the chargers working voltage and amperage. For these tablets a charger should be putting out at least an amp (1000ma) @ 5 Volts during charge. Many chargers are overrated ( these tablets come with a 5V @ 2 amp charger) and it sounds like yours is not putting out enough juice. I seriously doubt that the USB port has anything to do with your problem. My charger doctor has identified dead and weak chargers tons of times. Some chargers I got from China were rated at [email protected] and put out only 100ma! No wonder my phone wasn't charging. I took a picture of the readout and they refunded my money. One of these should help you sort out your problem.
I can definitively say that it is not an issue with the charger or the battery. I just put in a new battery a few minutes ago. My N7 is still charging @ 0.46 Amps. That charge will output 1.2 Amps when connected to me Dell Venue Pro 8. There is definitely something wrong with my N7 just like so many others. So, i will be putting it to rest in favor of an Asus Zenpad here shortly.
I bought a brand new unlocked Moto G4 Play from.Amazon Prime last week. Between purchasing it on Prime and the phone being old and OOP I got a great deal. However, I'm having a couple issues.
The first is with the battery. It charges insanely slow. Yesterday morning I had it plugged in for 3+ hours and it only charged 70%, from 15% to 85%. Also, for a battery rated at 2800mAH, it seems to drain fairly quick. Is it possible that the battery lost some of it's power while sitting around in the Amazon warehouse for so long?
My second issue is with file transfers onto my Mac. This is the third Android phone I've owned and it's the first to.cause my computer to freeze up when connecting it via USB. The charger that came with the phone is just one piece, I.e you can't disconnect the USB cable from the outlet plug. I had rummage around for a USB cable to use. It's an old cable, so I think that's what could be causing my.computer to.freeze. I'm gonna buy a new USB cable today and hopefully it fixes the problem.
Getting back to the battery, is there an app the can analyze my battery? So I can find out if it's defective or just not running at 100%? Any other suggestions on what I can do to remedy this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam
As far as apps go you can check the Play Store, and go by rating to see what is best for you. I use this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fsinib.batterymonitor
Charging with the stock charger will take hours. It's only rated at like 527 mamps (or whatever it's called), but it will never charge fast. I use a 2 amp quick charger, and from around 20% to 100% it takes just about an hour.
The drain may be because it's new, and getting settled in, so it should get better after a bit of time. Plus it does take a couple charge cycles to reach its full charging potential. I get an easy 5 1/2 to 6 hours screen on time on a full charge.
Now for using a computer I don't have experience with Macs, but I have heard issues with Android and Macs not playing well together. Maybe newer/better cable will help.
I've used 3C Battery Monitor Widget.
Like said above, the charger that comes with it is very low power, you can charge faster with a 1 - 2 amp charger and it won't hurt anything since there is built-in circuitry in the phone to control charging.
When I first got my G4 Play, I charged it up and let it sit unused for about 2 weeks only checking the battery remaining periodically and it still had ~15% left after 2 weeks on standby.
If your battery doesn't get better, you may want to exchange the phone with Amazon before your return is up.
G4 Play XT1607 Battery Drain
I'd like to revive this post real quick. @adam79 did you get your issue figured out?
I bought a phone from eBay. Ok, a bunch of them. I'm buying broken, fixing, and selling. I have hovered around G4 Plays as that is what I learned with and am slightly comfortable with. This new issue has got me stumped though.
Moto G4 Play - listing stated 'will not power on or charge'. No problem, I have extra parts. I tried to plug it in and sure 'nuff, no power. Tried another battery and she fired right up with Marshmallow already reset. I replaced the charging board and it started charging but it was hot. Hotter than normal I thought. Said that it would take 3 hours to fully charge from 71%. Whatever. She wanted the update to 7.1.1 just like the two xt1609s, the other two xt1607s, and my recent xt1601. I let it update then turned it off. Battery was dead the next morning. Plugged it up and no charging animation appeared. Another battery and it fired up. The heat is coming from the metal plate just above the battery contacts. Drains the battery no matter if it's on or off. What could it be?
Info: XT1607 7.1.1 Nougat
Baseband: M8916_20250112.18.05.45.01R harpia_na_cust
Kernal: 3.10.49-g87b323e [email protected] #1
Build: NPIS26.48-43-2
Thanks in advance for any and all help.
I got a brand new battery (Samsung branded, so "original") a month ago. But...it takes 1h40mins to fully charge from 0 to 100%. I remember the S5 took like 2h at the very minimum to charge from 10 to 100% some years ago with its first battery. Did I just get a lemon with twice as small battery capacity (Again, everything looks like the original battery. Says it's Vietnam-Korean and has a manufacturing date as well at the bottom left corner.). I flashed a stock 6.0.1 ROM to see if there was some fast charging option left enabled from the ROM/kernel I am on but it still said it needed around 1h40mins for a full charge from 0 to 100%. Wtf? Help, please
PS: I can get 4h SOT and around 10h total time with watching YouTube via WiFi for 2 hours and the other 2 doing other stuff around the web and other apps. But this charging time bothers me, it was not as fast as it is now.

My batteries for my S5s are starting to go bad but last about 4 - 5 hours with youtube, but I keep my screen as dim as I can get it. Samsung has a page on fake batteries, maybe this might help you:

Guess my battery is an original one according to this. Maybe it's just not manufactured recently? If it's made 2 years ago and has been staying at some storage place it lost its charge? idk

Its possible, depending on where you got it from It could be a used battery. Do you see any type of nicks or scratches on the gold connectors at the top? Do you see any swelling on the battery as well? I got two batteries I use for my S5 and one is starting to swell and will not charge to 100% anymore.

I got it from a normal shop, they don't scam people as my last one was also from there and was fine for the 2 years I had it. And battery is perfect, no swelling, etc. Just weird that it charges for 1 hour lol

Are you plugging the phone to any type of fast charger? My S7's fast charge plug in would charge other non- fast charge phones just slightly faster than a normal charger?
Grasping at straws here lol
You could ask the store to see if you could get another one, if that one is the same it maybe just normal now?
None of the Samsung batteries had a date on the label that I got with a brand new s3, s4, s5, note 2, note 3, and note 4.

This one has Oh well, nothing we can do I guess. It'll be fine for one more year, then Note 9
