I have an odd problem with my G2. Whenever I try to dial out - whether it's by inputing a number to the dialer, by choosing a contact, etc. - usually (not always) the device will not dial out and will instead delete the number or reset the contact search. Repeating the action will cause it to dial normally.
The frequency of the problem seems to have gotten worse since I upgraded to Lollipop - it now happens almost any time I try to dial out.
Working in safe mode seems (I can't tell for certain) to solve the issue, but it recurs when I go back to normal mode.
My device is the LG-D802, running Android 5.0.2 (V30a-SEA-XX).
Can anyone suggest a method to resolve this? Or at least t narrow down the cause?
Thanks
Same problem
Hi, I have the same problem after upgrade to 5.0.2 and it is very annoying.

Hi,
Unfortunately I am still using stock rom. May be little afraid to screw up the phone. Anyway till sometime back when somebody calls me I used to get caller id of the person calling. Now I dsplays "Incoming Call" and does not display the number. I tried to look into many settings but could not find anything. Please help to fix it or let me know any good contact application which I can install. Initially last year I installed photo contact application, but de-installed it due to some problem I was facing (I do not remember).
Regards
try installing a new dialer or changing some of the settings in settings/phone/services/caller ID
Follow up..
Hi fzzym,
Thanks for your reply. I tried to get information at settings/phone/services/caller ID but I am getting following error "Can not read setting from the network. Try viewing setting later, or disconnect data connection and Try again."
It is working for other setting but fails only for Caller ID. I am not sure what could be the issue and when it actual started. About 1 month back I got the phone unlocked. Can that cause this issue.
What other dialer you suggest me to install.
Regards
wierd. the unlock might be whats causing it. are you using tmobile or some other provider?
i'm personally using asergs' 2g touch dual dialer, but its notoriously hard to track down
Problem fixed by Hard reset of the Phone
Hi,
I just tried to do hard reset of the phone. The problem got fixed after that.
Thanks a lot for the help.
Don't seem able to assigned a voicemail number. I go to Call Settings, click the button labelled unassigned , enter the number and click save, and the screen clears as if it's been done but it stills shows as unassigned. Have seen suggestions elsewhere that others have the same issue but not found any solutions - anybody else seen this and fixed it? Ta.
I have the same issue.
Any help to resolve this would be great.
For anyone else coming across this issue, I got a USB JIG and upgraded my phone firmware yesterday and hey presto I can assign the voicemail number now - must have been the old firmware causing the issue.
Maybe it was a carrier not allowing it to be done in their firmware. I had an unlocked but T Mobile branded phone and I could not do it either. Like you, I got the USB jig and reflashed the firmware so now my phone is both unlocked and unbranded and I could enter my voicemail number.
Yup you could be right, although another problem I had before was IE would forget my favourites - I'd save a few and then after a while it would forget them all except the default ones. So far since the firmware upgrade, none of my favourites have disappeared. Not exactly related issues I know, but still...
Hi,
I have been running Quarx2k the defy+ 11.05.2012 Nightly since it was uploaded.
However I am from time to time having problems with SMS's not getting sent and two times (I only make calls a few times a week) I have had the phone audio "stop" - Meaning that the counter keeps going, but the audio cuts off. I can't even hang up the call, only rebooting phone seems to help.
I have 2G/3G, so could network switching be a problem?
Have anyone else had similar problems? Did you manage to solve them?
I would like to update the wiki (Where sms and phone is listed as working perfectly).
I have the same problem with sms in CM9-NIGHTLY-120526-Defy+ (Quartz).
Failure in the first shipment of the messages, and sends it on the second attempt. I don't know how fix this problem

Please do 2 steps, check and give a feedback:
1. in widgets settings for network change from default 2G/3G+2G to 2G/only 3G/3G+2G, change your network through widget to 2G/3G
2. baseband switcher - switch to the latest for your region and reboot
First off, I didn't find this anywhere on the forum, so I hope it's not a dupe - but it's a very annoying problem. I have a Galaxy S5 on KitKat. Here's the issues (pretty much all related):
Often times, I'll answer an incoming call successfully but the person on the other line simply hears a continuous ring cycle.
(Same as #1), but instead of hearing ring cycles - they get voicemail.
On other occasions my phone will be face up on a counter, I'll get a phone call, and when I walk over to the device it will "automatically answer" but the person never connects on the other line.
For all of these occasions, this seems to happen more frequently the first time someone tries to call me. Sometimes additional incoming calls from that number will go through with more success, but not all the time. Restarting the phone and pulling out the SIM card and battery not only do not fix the issue, but seem to consistently re-create the problem.
I should also note that I had Google voice as my provider for voicemail, but I have temporarily disabled that and set up my voicemail through Verizon - still doesn't help. Also 3rd party dialer apps like Dialer One do not make a difference.
Here are my settings:
Android Version 4.4.4 - Kitkat, no updates available (non rooted)
Blocking mode disabled
Motions and Gestures disabled
S-Voice disabled
Preferred network mode: LTE / CDMA **This seemed to solve the problem at first, but it came back immediately. (It was set to 'Global')
I've spent hours trying to fix this and contemplated rooting my device to try to get it to work, but to be honest I'd rather just exchange the phone for a new one before I did something like that. I also have not restored to Factory Default... but again that is preferably a last resort.
Any thoughts? I need a 100% working phone for my job and missing phone calls and having to call people back just isn't cutting it.

First try a data factory reset, if that doesn`t help refash the stock rom with odin 3.09 and after that factory reset/wipe cache in recovery.

Im having the same issue, i cleared the cache, did a factory reset and made sure s voice was turned off, it cleared the issue up for about a month. Recently i have been having this issue happen more and more. Im starting to think it may have something to do with the Bluetooth or the visual Voice mail / voice mail. Anyone else have any ideas on what else to try or do ? The only problem is recreating the environment to cause it to happen. Right now its completely random.

Never heard of this issue before but what rom are you running and are you using the stock phone app?
Stock rom 4.4.4
I'm using the default dialer, stock rom 4.4.4, not rooted,
Is there any solution? Thanks
I noticed this problem too just the other day. it seems like if I use my bluetooth headset and I'll call it doesn't work but if I call using the speakerphone I can still hit the numbers and it works. Very weird. I was thinking it's a glitch with the Bluetooth, somehow the phone is not noticing that keys are enabled or something I have a Plantronics marque 2 Bluetooth. I'm on a vzw note 3 all stock no root 4.4.4 NK1
funny enough, i had this happen the other day too. I Odin'ed the stock firmware lollipop) in my phone and did a quick reboot and it cleared up.
re: dialer problem
Hey gang,
I ODin'ed lollipop into my phone and the dialer issue persists. I figure that it's a bug within lollipop and 4.4.4 with kitkat.
Now, I'm kicking myself because everything was fine with 4.4.2 and can't downgrade due to our locked bootloaders (blow me verizon -- couldn't resist)
If anyone comes up with a solution, you're a saint. (beyond befuddled)
Hey gang, I used hangouts to do a test call (I called my bank's phone tree) It works!
