Ok google everywhere. - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Recently picked up a new note 4.
When I set the phone up initially, I had ok google everywhere.
Now it's gone.
I checked the settings, and ok google everywhere is not avail in my language.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Solved.
Basically my preferred language was English (Canada), and not USA. Apparently there's a difference. Who knew 'eh?
Got it working once I switched that. Damn Canadians.

Google Local in miles but maps in km

When I use Google Local to search it gives me results in miles but maps to navigate to the search Google local gave is in km.
Miles means nothing to me.
How do I change it?

I just posted the problem in a Google forum. Will post back if I get a solution or if it is a known issue.

Same here if I set language to english usa, in spanish is always meters/km
I have the same problem and I've been searching endlessly for a solution. My only theories are:
1. your region settings are determined by your Google account
2. once you setup your device (Nexus 7 in my case) you have a choice of the keyboard or language to use
3. Google in keeping with their lack of user friendliness and customer service prevent you from changing your regional settings

Google now reminders down?

Is this down for anyone else? Generic ones work. Remind me to watch TV works. Remind me to watch TV @ 10:00 doesn't.
Thanks

There is a problem, I cannot connect to Google Now. Also Google Services has been burning up my battery all day.

Thanks. I heard there was some play store issues but nothing on this.

Google search was just updated today..
Could be a bug.
I disabled Google Now a while ago, and wanted to try it again. Disabled, uninstalled and installed again Search, but now it says Google Now is not available and it doesn't show in Search Settings.
Weird. Is it on my end or something's up with Google?

I had turned off Google Now yesterday due to it keeping my phone from sleeping since it could not connect because of server problems. I cleared the data/cache and launched again now all seems to be fine.

Do you have it as an option in Google Search > Settings? I only have Voice, Phone Search and Privacy & Accounts. Did the same steps as you, but nothing yet. Thought I'd give it some time to sync something...
Found this on a Google support forum, and maybe it really is Google's issue.

I'm not from the US btw, but from Macedonia, SE Europe.

First, I froze Google Search in Titanium Backup then when I unfroze it I cleared data.cache and relaunched this morning. For me Google Now is part of Google Search not sure that it would be any different for you being in Europe.

Some friends have Google Now working, and they are all completely stock. I have CWM and fk installed. Waiting for 4.4 to come out soon, when I'll do full wipe and install via fastboot and see if it starts working when stock.
Thanks for the info and help though. Cheers!

That is actually now google assistant. Hold the home button and when the box comes up say "ok Google" that is assistant. Or press the 3 dots at top right for help. If it says "get help with Google assistant" then it's Google assistant not Google now.

Yeah based on this I definitely have Google now... Anyone know how I can get Google assistant? Also why would it be the case that my model does not come with Google assistant?

Maybe not available in your country yet.
When you press the 3 dots at top for menu and press help do you get the same as in this screenshot?

So if I change my country would I get Google assistant? Or is it a firmware issue?

I'm guessing not available in your country
Okay so for people who may encounter the same problem, I tried getting around the issue by installing the play services and Google app beta versions. This didn't really help as trying to activate google assistant in the settings results in a 'English (South Africa) is not supported by Google assistant.' error.
I did try to change the language region etc to the US but this did not help either.
Unless someone can find a workaround then it seems people in regions where assistant isn't supported are gonna have a tough time.
It's worth noting that this phone is advertised (in South Africa) as having Google assistant, which is technically a lie...

Go talk to Google. This isn't an issue with the phone.

Flash a firmware from a different region. That will fix it.
That's weird because i didn't had it on my french S8 so i changed the languague to US ENGLISH and it's working fine, last google assistant update with the ability to type now.
Blaccmamba is right. Just set your default language to English US. I've been using Google Assistant in South Africa for weeks now.

I've set it though that's the weird thing...
What service provider did you get your phone from?
I can confirm that after changing the language to English (US) in 'Settings/General Management/ Language and Input' Google Assistant works correctly. The problem it seems was that I was changing the default language in the Google settings only.

Hi. I have a Galaxy S8 on Sprint in the US and I have the same problem. When I hold the home button, i don't get the screen pictured above in the thread. Instead I get the old Google Now that scams your screen. How do i change this to Assistant?

Now unable to use "Ok Google"

For a while now the hotword has not worked on my device. When I looked in settings just earlier, they're now completely greyed out!
Anyone else experiencing the same issue?!
Tried changing the language to English (US) instead of (UK). No difference.
PS: I'm using a substratum theme, that's why my Google app is black.

Have you disabled some speech app, if you disable the motor syntethiser of google it won't work well. I had this issue and reenabling/reinstalling the app solved the problem.

Thank you for your suggestion. However, I found that I had to uninstall all updates to the Google app, then it started working flawlessly.
It's very weird that you have to decide whether you want the latest Google app, or its main feature to work.
A number of people also reported this issue. I'll update again once it gets fixed.
Edit: the app updated again automatically, and I realised I could set up the voice model again and it's now working on the latest version!

Bixby Voice Missing Weather?

I recently bought a Chinese Samsung G10+ and everything works great. However, recently discovered that Bixby Voice doesn't understand “what is the weather” means
1. Everything is in English except Samsung Assistant
2. It almost seems like weather isn't an option available to Bixby
Any ideas would help, thanks in advance.
