Hi guys.
Im a new to Sony phones (coming here from Samsung) and I need a short guide how to safe flash a Kitkat. My D5803 came with 5.0.2 and updated via OTA 5.1.1 O2 UK. Could you tell me this http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/list-stock-firmwares-d5803-d5833-t2906706 is correct way to do it? Can I flash it straight from 5.1.1 to 4.4.4 or first I need to flash 5.0.2 then 4.4.4?
Sorry for a newbie question but flashing Samsung phones seems to be much easier.
Y do u want 2 go back to 4.4.2???

You can use flashtool to flash a kitkat ftf. But you MUST wipe data and cache in flashtool.

Hi guys,
I'm pulling my hair out at this point. 1 week, no cellular data, I've tried everything but uncovered I might need to install a nonhlos.bin file?
Can someone point me to the nonhlos.bin file I need for these stats:
TELUS S4
I337M
4.3
Baseband: I337MVLUEMK6
Kernel: 3.4.69-KT-SGS4-JG4.3-TW-INTL-11.14.2013--GC59DFA
Build Number: GoldenEye 14 XXUEMK9
Edit: Baseband says MK6, Build Number says MK9. Is this a problem?
Edit: $5 via Paypal to whomever can get me up and running

You'll need mobile odin if you want to flash them. There's one or two threads in the general subforum that describe the process.

I know, it works, just used it again yesterday. Odin is very picky from I learned from using it. Different versions of Odin flash different things. This worked for me, in fact its the only thing that would work for me on my hardware.

Here is where to go after to return to stock, you need to used the odin version here or else stock f/w dont flash. Make sure you do not re-partition. Follow the guide perfectly and make sure your current bootloader is same version of stock fw your returning to. I didnt bother resetting flash counter with triangle away, just adds more brick risk. after that I re-rooted with chainfire su for canada, installed cwm recovery via playstore, upgraded to philz recovery. Next i installed infamous 10.1 R2 rom *make sure your phone is compatible with this rom. From there i followed tutorial to upgrade to mk6 modem from above. Finally i wiped factory resest via philz recovery and installed a kitkat build that require mk6 modem. All working great!!
see
http://www.androidrootz.com/2013/06/how-to-unroot-unbrick-galaxy-s4.html
My bootloader is MDJ so i returned to MDJ stock! I did not have knox and still do not. Be carful not to accidentally install knox know upon first boot with stock fw.
I believe if you have an MK6 bootloader then it means you have knox.
Another safer option is to restore via samsung tool but then you may loose some root functionality
Hello everyone,
I unfortunately installed the OTA US Sprint 4.4.2 update over the weekend, not realizing that it would essentially making it impossible for me to use my most frequented app, Backcountry Navigator (GPS mapping software), due to 4.4.2 not allowing apps to write or read data on a secondary external sd card. The reason being is that with this app, you typically download and store map files, which I previously had around 25 GB saved on my external card. Now with 4.4.2. it's requiring me to use the internal storage. So, this makes the phone useless for my needs. Is there anyway I can revert to 4.2.2 or install a custom rom based on 4.2.2 so that I can regain the app permission of Write_External_Storage?
Sure....just flash Stockist v6...it's mk2.....are you rooted?

No, phone isn't rooted yet. I'm actually quite new to learning about custom roms - I guess it's time to learn! Thanks for the reply.

hello. I had upgraded to 4.4 via ota nae. I could revert to 4.3 by Stockist mk2 v6. the problem is that now I have 4.3 but the baseband version appears as nae version of the software and also as nae. any ideas? can now flash it with the stock rom mk2?
Custom roms do not come with modems (baseband) you have to flash that separately. Unknownforce has a thread where all the modems are located.

Well once you took that NAE OTA your phone is now stuck there. You can only root it , install custom recovery, and then flash an mk2 based ROM like I think you already have.
But you cannot get your phone back to how it was prior to that update, stock mk2 with no root no custom recovery... Follow me?

If its a Note 3 N9005 then you just download the OS version you want from Sammobile.Com and flash with Odin.
You can't go back, to JB if you don't like KK though as the bootloader won't allow it.
You will need to re-root it afterwards and Knox will be void.
If you used URDLV(sorry, bloody autocorrect) and Knox is still not tripped then look in the mobile Odin thread to upgrade without loosing root... You do need to flash a KK bootloader through PC Odin separately though.

Right, but in Sammobile.Com site has two versions to two operators - VIVO and CLARO (In Brazil), so can I choose one of both that it will work fine?
So new firmware 10.5.A.0.233 is released.
How are you finding it?
Share your thoughts here so we all can benefit.
Doubt it will cure everything... It's only a very minor update...
I think it has to do with the supposed battery drain issue

Hi everyone,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 with AT&T. I'm on Android 4.2.2 and my phone is rooted. I wanted to update to Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) so I went to SuperSU and selected the unroot option. Everything appears to be unrooted (apps that require root access no longer work and I downloaded an app called Root Checker which confirmed that my phone is no longer rooted). My only concern before I proceed with the update is that, when I power on the phone, it shows the unlocked padlock with the words "Custom" underneath it. With that said, is it safe to proceed with the update?
Thanks in advance.
