Corrupt ROMs? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Every ROM i download/copy onto my SD card is corrupt? I made a folder and copied a rom into in from my computer and the folder became corrupted. From then all the ROMs i copy/download are corrupt?
There was a ROM on the SD card before that isnt corrupt. Will formatting my SD card fix the problem?

It should, unless the card is damaged.

I wiped the sd card in android and then downloads a rom and gapps to the sd card. In TWRP i did a nandroid backup of my current OS. I couldnt access any folders in Install ZIP except for the TWRP folder. I ran chkdsk on the sd card through cmd on my pc. I then copied another rom into the root of the card and flashed it, it seems to be working now as the zip flashed without a problem. I will try to download another rom through android and flash that and see if it is corrupts it again.

I downloaded a rom to the sd card in android and the rom is corrupt. Im going to wipe the sd card in twrp and redownload the rom

it looks like that has fixed it (wiping in TWRP).

That's excellent news. I had an 8GB card that would display one set of folders in recovery and an entirely different set of folders in Android. The only solution for that one was to download SDFormatter on the PC, install it, and wipe the MicroSD using that tool.

Android installer can't read SD card

Hey everyone,
Today I mistakingly tried to update a Froyo ROM with an Eclair, and it messed up my phone. So I flashed the default Bell ROM and went to install the Eclair, only this time I kept getting an error that /sdcard/andboot/androidinstall.tar can't be read.
I've checked over and over and: 1) the folder location is right (in the root of the SD Card, all lower case), 2) the .tar file is not corrupt, and 3) the SD Card is formated in FAT32.
I have no idea what is going on, and I'm stuck with the default Windows Mobile 6.1 now.
Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks
same here
I'm actually having the same thing. Clean FAT32 card. 1 directory 'andboot' all lowercase, 1 file in that dir 'androidinstall.tar' all lowercase.
I see android detecting the insert of the SD card, but apparently it wont read it...
solved
After reformatting [and repartitioning] the sd card, what worked for me in the end, was reformatting it [yes, again] to fat32, making the directory, putting in the file, and then resetting the phone. My guess: even though it detected the insert of an sd card, it did not really mount the filesystem until after the reboot.

migrate sd card

Hi,
I have a nexus one with Rom MIUI.
I have a sd card with these partitions:
3.16 GB -> FAT32
488 MB -> EXT 4
61 MB -> SWAP
I would like to migrate the sd card to one that I have of 16GB. What steps should I do to can migrate all.
Many thanks and sorry for my english!
Copy the contents of the card to a computer, partition new card and copy the backups to the appropriate partitions.
I'm going to assume your are running a custom ROM here, if your not, these directions may not work for you.
I actually just did this yesterday myself, so I can give you instructions on how I did it. I use CM7 with Apps2SD, and I'm assuming your MIUI is usind Apps2SD as well.
**With original SD card installed**1. Boot into recovery
2. Make a full backup (SYSTEM+SD-ext). The backup is stored on the SD card.
3. Now hook the phone up to your computer and copy the entire contents of the SD card to a folder on your computer (this can be done while in recovery or while booted into OS, it doesn't matter)
4. Shut down phone and remove original SD card and install new SD card
**With new SD card installed**5. Boot into recovery
6. Partition SD card the same as it was before (most common is SD-ext=1024, Swap=0, rest as USB storage, or whatever it's called)
7. While still in Recovery, mount the SD card as USB storage and hook the phone up to your PC
8. Take the files that you copied from your original SD card and copy them to the root of your new SD card (don't just drag and drop the fold you put the files in, but rather open up the folder and copy the contents of the folder over so that it looks just as it did when you had the original SD card installed)
9. This step can probably be skipped, but I did it anyway out of habit more than anything, but wipe and format SYSTEM, all CACHE options, and SD-ext, and BATTERY.
10. Still in RECOVERY, you'll want to select the option to RESTORE. It'll list all previous restores, just pick the latest one.
11. Once that is done, REBOOT SYSTEM and you should be up and running.

[Q] Where are my files going?

I have a Rooted, Bootloader unlocked, CWM installed Razr M. I am running RAGE. I did a backup to sd card. Backup to External SD card does not work. It errors out as "unable to locate" or something. Anyhow. I placed cm10 on the sd card with the gapps. I then copied the backup, cm10, gapps, and Rage.img into two folders on the external sd card labelled "Backups" and "RomFiles" that I created. Rebooted to recovery and went to look for the files on external sd card. I get the "unable to locate extsd" error. Reboot the phone and the damn files are completely gone. Happened before only I had already wiped and factory reset! Had to use Matt's utility to restore to stock.
Where are these files going?

TWRP 2.8.1.0 mount problems.

Ok. So I grabbed my old X out of the drawer. SBF'D back to stock. Trying to install liquidsmooth 4.4.4. I downloaded all the provided files (Dev is awesome for that). I used safe strap to reboot into recovery. Flashed twrp. I cannot for the life of me find my ext-sd card. I don't think it's mounted. I tried to mount SD card but the option won't tick. Any help would be appreciated. I even put the ext SD card into my note 4 and downloaded them to the ext SD card just to make sure the rom and g apps were on the ext SD card. Still it's blank when I open it.
