[Q] Where are my files going? - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Rooted, Bootloader unlocked, CWM installed Razr M. I am running RAGE. I did a backup to sd card. Backup to External SD card does not work. It errors out as "unable to locate" or something. Anyhow. I placed cm10 on the sd card with the gapps. I then copied the backup, cm10, gapps, and Rage.img into two folders on the external sd card labelled "Backups" and "RomFiles" that I created. Rebooted to recovery and went to look for the files on external sd card. I get the "unable to locate extsd" error. Reboot the phone and the damn files are completely gone. Happened before only I had already wiped and factory reset! Had to use Matt's utility to restore to stock.
Where are these files going?

Extrnal SD Geting Erased

Here's another good one for ya .... Getting ready to Safestrap so I put in an external sd card to back orig system up on to. Decided to copy TR and safestrap to the ext sd which I did with root explorer from download folder to ext sd card. Afer I copied the files to the sd card I went back into root explorer and verified they were there. Had to reboot the phone, when I go back, the files aren't on the ext sd card !! Of course, before asked, I did mount as r/w before the copy. Any ideas?
Edit: did it again... copied the files over they appear to be on the ext sd, reboot, go back in and card is blank...
Copying the files cuz I am gonna do a factory reset and root it again before I safestrap... I don't like the way foxfi has the credentials locked even after un-installing it. So I just put all the files on thumb drive with my TiBu appz backup.
It was a defective sd card not formattings/reading ... was afraid it was the phone !!!

Format sd card with no computer

Is it recommended to format SD card while in recovery and then immediately perform backup? I don't have a computer available and my file structure is all messed up from problems with LS5.0. Is there anyplace to move a previous twrp backup (or 2) on my phone in order to keep it? Also, would android rebuild the basic sd folders needed upon reboot?
Vs980 currently running LS5.0

TWRP 2.8.1.0 mount problems.

Ok. So I grabbed my old X out of the drawer. SBF'D back to stock. Trying to install liquidsmooth 4.4.4. I downloaded all the provided files (Dev is awesome for that). I used safe strap to reboot into recovery. Flashed twrp. I cannot for the life of me find my ext-sd card. I don't think it's mounted. I tried to mount SD card but the option won't tick. Any help would be appreciated. I even put the ext SD card into my note 4 and downloaded them to the ext SD card just to make sure the rom and g apps were on the ext SD card. Still it's blank when I open it.

Corrupt ROMs?

Every ROM i download/copy onto my SD card is corrupt? I made a folder and copied a rom into in from my computer and the folder became corrupted. From then all the ROMs i copy/download are corrupt?
There was a ROM on the SD card before that isnt corrupt. Will formatting my SD card fix the problem?
It should, unless the card is damaged.
I wiped the sd card in android and then downloads a rom and gapps to the sd card. In TWRP i did a nandroid backup of my current OS. I couldnt access any folders in Install ZIP except for the TWRP folder. I ran chkdsk on the sd card through cmd on my pc. I then copied another rom into the root of the card and flashed it, it seems to be working now as the zip flashed without a problem. I will try to download another rom through android and flash that and see if it is corrupts it again.
I downloaded a rom to the sd card in android and the rom is corrupt. Im going to wipe the sd card in twrp and redownload the rom
it looks like that has fixed it (wiping in TWRP).
That's excellent news. I had an 8GB card that would display one set of folders in recovery and an entirely different set of folders in Android. The only solution for that one was to download SDFormatter on the PC, install it, and wipe the MicroSD using that tool.

"no SD card" - cm13

Hi, I flashed cm13 on my klte, chose to format SD as internal, flashed 13 again(don't remember why) and then my phone wouldn't recognize my sd. Thought I had corrupted it so I bought a new one and formatted that as external, still the same. I can see the SD card and what's inside it with file manager, and I can transfer files to and from with my PC, but if I try to download anything from a browser I get "no SD card"
Any suggestions?
