Hello everybody. Is there any way to avoid waking the phone in the pocket by accidentally pushing some button? I have a simple silicone case. I remember in aosp rom on my note 1 that the proximity sensor block the device from waking. Is there any similar on note 4. I am in tw rom. Try to delete system /usr/ keylayout/gpio-keys.kl /wake droppped but nothing.. Any help.

Hello guys! After a long search on the recent questions in this amazing forum I couldn't find anything similar to my girlfriend problem...
Her Nexus 4 was just fine until the update to 4.3.. After that it started to show a problem during/after calls, the screen turns black completely (even when is not near the face or anything) and its impossible to do anything with the phone after that. Power button doesn't work, and there is only two ways to get the phone working again: the other person hang up the call.. or to hard press the power button until the restart...
I tried already to change for a 4.3 ROM and now I changed it to a 4.2.2 ROM... any idea or suggestions to a possible solution?
Thanks a lot guys!
I too recently had this problem. There was a simple fix after dealing with it a couple of days. My 4yo daughter had been playing with my phone after which I started having the problem. What I found was one of her hairs had become stuck in the bumper and was resting on the screen over the proximity sensor. Once I cleared that, no more problem.
The sensor is on the upper left of the screen.

If You use screen protector and it goes over sensors, than will be the reason of Your problem. Just remove it.
It could be the 4.3 update. I didn't have any such issues until the update and then they began. AndroSensor confirms that no matter what, proximity sensor is at 0.
Any thoughts on what to do short of RMA?

I can assure you its your screen guard that is creating an occlusion for your sensor on top left. Remove it and it will definitely work.

Not sure if I mentioned it earlier (perhaps in another thread) - no screen guard. That wasn't the issue. Finally, I changed the proximity sensor itself, all bueno. No RMA which means avoiding a bunch of hassles (namely new phone, data xfer, etc).

HI Guys,
just a short question, i have my S5 placed in a Case wich covers the display completly if closed.
As i know from my new galaxy tab pro and a note 2, normaly if you close the lid the phone locks and turns of the display.
Now this isnt working on my S5. I've checked light and proximity sensor with the Service menu (*#0*#)
Seems to work.
Didn't find anything in the menu?
Am i blind ? or is this feature really missing? Or is something wrong with my phone?
regards
Steven
This requires a magnet.. Maybe the case does not have a magnet. Or is improperly placed for the s5..

Hi, I've an hardware problem with the quickwindow sensor (I don't know if it is based on Hall effect sensor + proximity sensor). This cause me that when I flash CM 12, for example, on my G2, after unlock the device from the lockscreen i've a black screen, like I've a closed quickwindow cover (but I don't have any cover).
Because now I can't repair the hardware, can anyone suggest me some trick to modify the zip of the rom to eliminate every quickwindow function?
With the stock or stock based rom is sufficient that when I run for the first time the rom i go to setting>Accessory and disable quinckwindow. In g3 based rom I try the same solution but when i receive a call appear the quickwindows app for incoming call.
In CM rom I'cant try this solution beacuse I can't pass the lockscreen.
Thanks in advance.
sorry for my english
bye
Hi,
i've always the pb of proximity sonsor or somthing in that field when i'm installing a custom rom of android 6.0, 7.0 or 7.1 such as (OptimizedCM-14.1-20161121-BETA1-AROMA, JDCTeam_jdc_jflte-7.1-20161117-BETA, MK60.1-jfltexx-201605070057-NIGHTLY)
so when i make a call, via messenger or my sim dialer, the screen turns off and won't turn on if i push power or home buttons.
so, what's the solution of this pb i'm suffering from, from a long time...
Does the phone work properly on a stock ROM? Did you try disabling the proximity sensor or disabling the screen-off function?

Yes, i'm now on 5.0.1 (stock rom) it works fine
how can i disable the proximity sonsor or the screen-off function?
This sure looks as a problem with the proximity sensor, the s4 is known for accumulating dust and grease on top of it. Open your phone with a small Phillips tool, remove it and clean it. It will work as new.
Don't think it's a hardware problem since the sensor works properly on a stock ROM.
Sorry, I no longer have an s4 and I don't remember how to disable the proximity sensor in a custom or stock ROM.
Hi guys,
Was wondering if it was possible to disable my proximity sensor? The reason I ask is because since I dropped my phone a couple of weeks ago, it does weird things.
When I try to call someone the proximity sensor registers 8cm (give or take as this is an example) but when I put my face to the phone, it latches on 0cm and never resets to another value. Thus keeping the screen blank.
Same outcome happens when someone calls me.
I'm currently using Lineage OS 14.1 (Android 7.1.1) on the Samsung S5 (SM-G900F klte). I'd rather disable the sensor if it means regaining control of the phone during calls.
Thanks guys!
