Hi, I've an hardware problem with the quickwindow sensor (I don't know if it is based on Hall effect sensor + proximity sensor). This cause me that when I flash CM 12, for example, on my G2, after unlock the device from the lockscreen i've a black screen, like I've a closed quickwindow cover (but I don't have any cover).
Because now I can't repair the hardware, can anyone suggest me some trick to modify the zip of the rom to eliminate every quickwindow function?
With the stock or stock based rom is sufficient that when I run for the first time the rom i go to setting>Accessory and disable quinckwindow. In g3 based rom I try the same solution but when i receive a call appear the quickwindows app for incoming call.
In CM rom I'cant try this solution beacuse I can't pass the lockscreen.
Thanks in advance.
sorry for my english
bye

My proximity sensor is dead. Stuck in WinMo 6.5 and Android. Is there a way I can disable it and have the in call settings use the gyro instead? Or maybe not blank the screen at all?
Thanks!

I found a way to wake the screen back up without yanking the battery. I can give it USB power and it will wake. Still sucks but is better than reboot.
Anyone know how to kill prox?
TY
Same here, very anoying.
When headphone is plugged in i dont have any problems.
I had the same problem, so I got libsensors source from HyperDroid, commented out lines that do proximity sensor initialization and got sensors.leo.so that shows to phone that there are no proximity sensor.
There are 3 identical files in the attachment - simply copy them over into /system/lib/hw on the device.
But, actually, repairing sensor would be better solution...

That's what I've been doing. I sent it in to get the prox fixed and they shipped it back still broke.
Hi,
I'm running CM11-20141112-SNAPSHOT on my Mi2S, and I have a problem with the promity sensor. When I check its status in the Phone tester app, it always shows "near" as the sensor status, and the behavior when making a call confirms that - the screen goes compeltely dark until I press the side button to unlock the device. I'm not using a screen protector.
However, since I spent quite a lot of tiem installing apps and customizing the the ROM before I found that out (my bad, I know), I'd first like to know if there is something worth trying out (different kernel?) before I wipe it completely and try a another ROM.
Also, since I'm no ace at Android devices, perhaps just the fact that the sensor app shows no activity is proof enough (even though I hope not) that the sensor is dead, in which case I would not need to tamper with anything and just issue an RMA. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Hi,
Well, if the sensor is really damaged, the only solution i would advise you to "temporarily" fix this issue, is to install Xposed Framework and the famous module called Disable Proximity.
This, at least, will prevent you from having to press power button to make screen turn on, as it will be always on. (and no, there are no real risks of doing something wrong in your MI2S with your ear)
Thanks. The proximity sensor is as good as dead that way, but considering that I can now actually make calls, I' say it's a good tradeoff
Hello everybody. Is there any way to avoid waking the phone in the pocket by accidentally pushing some button? I have a simple silicone case. I remember in aosp rom on my note 1 that the proximity sensor block the device from waking. Is there any similar on note 4. I am in tw rom. Try to delete system /usr/ keylayout/gpio-keys.kl /wake droppped but nothing.. Any help.
Hi,
i've always the pb of proximity sonsor or somthing in that field when i'm installing a custom rom of android 6.0, 7.0 or 7.1 such as (OptimizedCM-14.1-20161121-BETA1-AROMA, JDCTeam_jdc_jflte-7.1-20161117-BETA, MK60.1-jfltexx-201605070057-NIGHTLY)
so when i make a call, via messenger or my sim dialer, the screen turns off and won't turn on if i push power or home buttons.
so, what's the solution of this pb i'm suffering from, from a long time...
Does the phone work properly on a stock ROM? Did you try disabling the proximity sensor or disabling the screen-off function?

Yes, i'm now on 5.0.1 (stock rom) it works fine
how can i disable the proximity sonsor or the screen-off function?
This sure looks as a problem with the proximity sensor, the s4 is known for accumulating dust and grease on top of it. Open your phone with a small Phillips tool, remove it and clean it. It will work as new.
Don't think it's a hardware problem since the sensor works properly on a stock ROM.
Sorry, I no longer have an s4 and I don't remember how to disable the proximity sensor in a custom or stock ROM.
Hi everyone,
I own a Zenfone 3 ZE552KL that recently showed an issue with the proximity sensor.
It always returns positive, i.e. as if something is close.
I tried an application to recalibrate the sensor and I also asked a repair shop to clean the sensor itself but no luck.
Also, since the proximity sensor is soldered to the mainboard it's not possible to change it.
As a workaround I used the function from the dialer to set the screen always on during calls. However, after having moved to LineageOS 16 (with Android 9) I am not able to find the same option.
Do you know any workaround to disable the proximity sensor?
Maybe there is another ROM who gives you the possibility to set screen on during calls?
I will be happy to discuss and receive few suggestions on the topic
Thanks!
J.
