bu if you need both hands to hold phone why bother with that tiny detail?
I am just kidding, I was wondering about buying P8Max but when I took a ruller and "saw" it's dimensions i thought: I don't wear a pocket for it

I have p8 not max and I think it's amazing all the things u listed are correct. They have done a great job with the p8 range

Thank you for your short review. Great to hear.
I got a Z Ultra before and I loved it and I miss a lot suc huge screen size.
I cannot wait to get the P8max as soon as it will be available here in Europe.

another failed attempt. poor software.
poor gpu.
poor handling.
expensive price. you could've had a REAL flagship for the same money.

I would kill for The P8 max that works on ANY us Carrier. I think it's everything im looking for in a phone. Ive been through the Sony z ultra, various 6 inch phones, the mega, some 8 inch tablet/phones and now the mate 7 and I am convinced that a ~7 inch PHONE (no huge bezels) is my perfect size. Good screen, fast enough processor, Micro sd, removable battery or at least a massive battery, good enough camera WITH FLASH. I'd take the p8 max or the mediapad x2 but it doesn't seem like either of them will ever be coming with us friendly bands, will they? Am I wrong? I heard the P8 max plays well with sprints network, can that be true?

battery life is horrible though

I bought the max a month ago and yes, never had a device as good as this. And i run three big phones in parallel, working in IT sec. Battery life is great indeed, just returned from a trip abroad where it worked all day and always later for more than two days - what about that? AND I was able to insert a 'local' sim just to save data money and everything worked perfect: having one home sim and one very cheap local one. Screen amazing, storage amazing, and i never put my phones in my trousers - so what the heck? I knew what size it has *before* i bought it, and so should all those strange people who cry about that...

Good bye to Mate 7

I did drop the phone on stone floor yesterday now the touch does not work on the majority of the screen.
In panic I have bought a used LG G3 as replacement I got it for a very good price.
yeah So I will probably not be checking this forum so much more... I hope the Mate 8 will be worth update for.
The Mate S despite beautiful design was not convincing when it did come to batter cpu and gpu and also no sd card slot.
What I liked about huawei is that they did copy the good things from apple, but now it seem they are ok with copying the bad sides also, which means
very small battery (for good profit margins) and slow and outdated cpu/gpu.
Apple use outdated and bad hardware and they manage to get the most out of it with very good software. Apple spend a lot of money on the software that is how they get away with such weak specs. Well I hope Mate 8 will be a good spec monster, the software is important but a 3rd party launcher usually does the trick. New Mate 8 will most likely have curved display and for me a very seductive screen to body ratio like no other manufacture.. the Kirrin 950 also seem to me very convincing as long as the GPU is not the bottleneck as it is on M7.
I still do not forget huawei for promising us Lollipop, yet we are still here 9 and half month into 2015 and still no real sign of official release.
I cannot understand what is taking such long time, my only conclusion is why it does take such a long time is because they are not working at it at all.
The status have been on hold for the bigger part of the year, maybe they did work on in it for 1 month, they did not meat the deadline so now the project is on hold that is what I think. Despite what is it worth waiting for lollipop ? if you ask me the answer is no.. Lollipop will satisfy no one now when 6.0 is out.
Also all new function and looks from Lollipop will not be present in the EMUI lollipop.. also same bad animations.. say what you want but animations are damn important...beautiful fast and fluid animations during multi tasking and switching between apps is very important, Apex Launcher did finally give me the smooth and fast animations i wanted from day one..

I did drop my device too but mine is perfectly smooth and ok except little bit scratch on body corner side...
By the way if u talk about update I can accept but if u talk about device copy let me tell u that iphone had release small screen and now they also releasing with larger one so we can say iphone also perfect copier from other devices...It's 'coz of Huawei brand our country can use mobile with the same level of Samsung and others in lower cost...I accept Huawei update is just like losers but I accept this also Huawei did care about cost of middle men...for iphone I like to say it's just a selfish brand which sell with higher price that everyone can't effort...It's mean wealthy are wealthy and poor don't have value...I like to see get opportunities too everyone and that's bring Huawei and still bringing with upcoming Huawei nexus...

I do not see it as an upgrade I see it more as an downgrade.. but a solution for now..since I can sell it with not much price lost..
There is no phone out right now I want to pay full price for.. lets see if Mate 8 will change that..
Mate S I will not buy... LetV max is intersting too but.. for this device it is the actual name that ruins it..

Do not buy letv it is another crap.. fake usb .. it is not 3.1 or 3.0 just 2.0.. and overheating 810..
Huawei says P9 will be very surprising..
Sad...i own both the old mate and the mate7 and being dump i dropped them both but the devices are strong as hell, still working perfect. And just to go on i bought the P8max last week and have to say that this is THE ONLY worthy device to step up. Huawei did a far better job than all the other manufactors, and being able to use sd card or two sims is perfect for me. Never change a winning team.
LG G3 I have had it now for 2 days. at stock it was unusuable very slow and laggy after installing apex with some tweaks and change animations speed in dev options it goes very fast again..it goes faster then Mate 7 now.
Compare to Mate 7 the screen of G3 is really horrible.. 2k in my ass..the contrast and black levels are still crap..
My goal was to buy a phone that I could have temporary and sell it with minimal loss in price.. so I will have G3 now until Mate 8 most likely..
But I have concluded 5.5 is too small.. but 6.0 is almost too big.. I think 5.7 might be the best of both worlds.. never had a 5.7 inch phone..
but 5.5 was definitely smaller then I expected which make it very nice for one hand use.. my thumb go all the way to the left side..

compare to any other devise i can say huawei is the most stable and strongest hardware devises...infact i m using p6 still now even my back battary cover come out when i drop it hardly...I will never ever believe that any other devices can stand so strong like that bcoz i saw how its drop and i saw body crash but screen and hardware still working perfect....I cant blame huawei for their loser updates fail many times, bcoz i m myself did drop my p6 that result me with back cover opened and now mate7 that result me 3 angel of coners crash but both perfect working...i have friends who is using LG,Samsung, Iph but i saw them always screen broken, body over temp, and screen blast(Iph 6plus)...but i never got any experience bcoz i m using huawei...so if u want to use any other device keep shut and use, dont try to say any bad words which makes perfect for others...thanks

Don't expect Mate 8 less than 6'' man ! it might be even over 6'' !! I told u I had G3 and I almost vomited.. that 2k screen does nothing only drains battery.. and when u go to apps resolution goes auto down to 720p and for google chrome even less 640x360 .. just google ''what is my resolution'' and u'll see ..
So text on 2k screen when browsing internet and reading looks jerky , grainy , choppily.. it is not smooth as on 1k screens..

Why I'm not selling my U11

Figured I'd start a thread for every one keeping their phone since there's a few about selling them. Share your thoughts.
I love this dang thing!!
I originally bought it even tho my M10 wasn't paid off figuring how much better could it be? Well the 10 is in a drawer.
Lots of storage over my 10. I can now store my flac files on the internal instead of having to get an SD card.

The same for me, I'm past my first year with the HTC 10 and still have til next May to pay it off lol. Although I still use my HTC 10 for when I am flashing or updating a ROM, I have to have a phone at all times for work. Have you rooted it yet?
This is a good phone but.. There's not much standing for it, good camera but slow in comparison to other phones, speakers are a bit better than on the s8 but they're not that special, display is good but not up there with the best and the minimum brightness is still bright for dark environments, edge sense is a gimmick, the water proofing on this phone isnt that good and ive seen people having problems with their phone due to water damage and basically i wouldn't trust to put this phone in water on purpose and i treat it as a non waterproof phone, the battery is pretty good but not that great for me, The bezels are big, there's no option to lower the brightness in camera app and no option to turn off capacitive key light, htc sense is ok but it has bloatware that you cant install and no useful features.. Nothing special aboit it and i guess the only thing good about it is that its close to stock android and the performance on it is great. Basically this is a good phone but the pixel xl 2 will have better camera, performance, battery, maybe speakers too, design and display, software and more support. Maybe also better waterproofing

Looks like you like to hang with other Samsung junkies and parrot everything they say. You all are so worried we might have a better phone that you always have to come here to snoop and see whats going on, taking notes for all the talking points against HTC. My capacitive keys lights are off. What is this bloat you speak of? HTC allows us to disable and hide any bloat if there is any. Bezels are not even noticeable when using this beauty and at least our fingerprint scanner is in the right spot and has been proven to be much more reliable. Edge Sense is by no means a gimmick, I think we are well past that talking point. Any reasonable person knows not to intentionally drown your phone, and if you do you are supposed to dry it first before using. HTC specifically states this. The battery has already shown to beat the competition. The mics beat all of the competition, 3d audio recording. There really isn't much to complain about this phone some people just can't stand that something might be better than their beloved, super almighty Samsung giant. It's like it's their mission to make sure no one wants to experience it. "LOOK AWAY! LOOK AWAY!" LMAO

Yeah I didn't want to either with this beast. It really isn't needed but there are a few things that make it worth it and the main thing that always draws me back to HTC, the freedom of having an unlocked bootloader. Just a few minor things I enjoy like all black theme and apps that require root like the new edge sense plus. To say there isn't anything special about the U11 is just not true. There isn't much you can't do with it especially after the next update.

Did u even read the title of the thread?
Reasons why I'm keeping
1. Solar Red looks AWESOME.
2. Smooth smooth smooth. No stutter unlike my previous s8+ exynos that stutters quite often after 2 weeks of use
3. Edge sense is not a gimmick. It's useful especially after using the edges sense plus app (waiting for the huge official update promised tho)
4. Camera is awesome. Id rather have one lens phone that excels in image quality than a dual camera phone that is only mediocre or even good
5. Battery life is good enough for me. Dual sim, all day mobile data 4g, 6+ screen on time, 20 hours of total standby time. What I did was disable all bloat especially news republic.
6. Did I say solar Red is AWESOME?
7. That speaker.. Really love watching videos on it, good enough for listening music when I don't have my bt speaker around. The included noise canceling earphone is also very very very good. Haven't been using many bundled earphones for previous phones. But this one is a keeper.
8. Never had any problems with waterproofing. Then again I will never believe in waterproofing on a phone since I had incidents with z1 compact, Z3 compact, s5.
9. Fingerprint sensor is EXCELLENT. I have greasy fingers which usually problematic when using fp sensors. Had problems with p10+, s8+, Pixel xl, xzp. 99% of the time it works with this phone.
10. The fact that overall this phone bests everything on the market. I don't have premonitions on phones that comes next. But as things stand this phone is the best bet.

I'll sure drink to this list. The phone is a real pleasure to use and fiddle with.
I've been unlocked and rooted the phone, pretty much I'll stick with it for some periods. That's no perfect phone on Earth when you switched to others you'll find some other problems eventually.
What I don't like is the camera noise though the details is great but it got too much really and do need some more denoise. The size is a bit big for 5.5" too.

That's for you to decide, but here's my honest opinion. If i was supposed to use any Samsung phone, it would be the Note 8, and that's because of the 6gb of RAM, along with the refinements that are included in Samsun's 7.1 rom. The Note is DEFINITELY more fun that the U11, and that's coming from a diehard HTC lover.
However...I still don't feel that Samsung touches HTC when it comes to optimization and performance over time. I highly anticipate that the U11 will be pushing through the bits and bytes much more gracefully than the Note 1yr from now. Samsung ages horribly, and I'm talking from experience. My wife always gets the equivalent Samsung device when I get my new HTC...EVO vs Epic 4g, EVO LTE vs S3, M8 vs S5, S7 and S7 (got it with a BOGO...regrets....), and U11 vs S8. My phone always comes out on top for a longer period of time. So, I'm not simply blowing hot air when I say that HTC has much more consistent performance than Samsung.
Well, Samsungs are consistently inconsistent with performance...so my statement isn't completely accurate.

is it worth it to upgrade from nexus 6

i have my nexus 6 for quite some time now , but still i love it, but i feel like i need to upgrade , im not a heavy user , not really into photography, just need a daily driver that just works everytime and feel good to the hand , and a good finger print scaner as i ve never used one before , but seen some on cheap phones that work really bad .
any suggestion will be apreciated , thanks in advance , and have a great day

I also recently upgrade from my OnePlus One to Mi A1 2 days ago. I also don't game much, and currently I am very happy with it. (Or should I say the Pro's more than it's Cons)
The most important thing you need to be wary of is the 3.5mm jack. If you use 3.5mm jack a lot, I suggest you go for their official earphones or you use those big headphones. Otherwise you will be pretty much stuck with the "hissing sound" that produce by it. Currently it pairs with my In Ear Pro HD, and very satisfied with it.
Other than that no major problems with it. Although it lacks NFC and EIS/OIS is a huge bummer. But overall it's a great device all around.

About those 3 points you mentioned. Then it's the perfect device for you. And nope it doesn't feel cheap at all, feels solid and premium (although not made of out glass, probably I am coming from all plasticity device? lol). It's like holding a iPhone 7 in your hand tbh. If no one pay attention what phone are you holding, they shud probably guess it's a iPhone 7. Very similar design. Well battery life is very good, I have it for 2 days and the factory charge still not finish yet (got around 70% out of the box now sitting at 35%). Well about system updates, as expected from Google device. So yeah
hell yes

I couldn't agree more! I am using a flipkart smartbuy rubber cover along with it and it covers up the xiaomi branding at the back and has no branding of its own.. So a couple of people at my office who saw the phone from the back asked if its iphone 7+!! Even otherwise the in hand feel, the audio quality and the potrait mode in camera are the best i have seen in a phone for a while!
And about the issues, the hissing sound issue does not exist for me.. So you might not even have it.. The lack of stabalization is a bummer but can be enabled with root access, though i wish xiaomi provides an update to enable it natively.

Currently doing the same thing you do. I am still using my Nexus 6, but the battery is slowly dying - so it wasn't actually choice. I think the A1 is a very good, and also cheap choice. If you are not into photography, though, consider a Redmi Note 4 (the 4GB RAM / 64GB HD version). The Redmi Note 4 is identical (hardware-wise) to the A1 in all aspects but the camera (worse) and the battery (better / bigger), and it is available even cheaper (60€ for me, but I am actually into photography).
Can you make a mini review between nexus 6 and mi a1 (pros, cons) after a couple of days ?! Thx

Mi A1 over Nexus 4

Hello,
I am thinking of finally giving up my Nexus 4 and Mi A1 seems like a proper replacement. The one thing I don't like about it is the size, I am used to keep my phone in a pocket and use it with only one hand.
What do you guys think of the size? I am yet to hold it in hands since I need to find a store with the phone in stock.
I also read about problem with low light condition of the camera, but over N4 that I think will be an improvement.
It's a shame I cannot put Nexus 5 X on the list, since the boot loop is a real problem with that one.
Really looking to what you guys think.
Trimis de pe al meu Nexus 4 folosind Tapatalk
I've made the same decision, and I'm very happy with what I got. Size is just a pleasant surprise. Although A1 is not a light phone, the weight and size is not a big problem, at least for me. One handed use is fine, if you don't use a keyboard frequently. Even so, I recommend to try it in your hands if ypu can. Trying out GNote 4 is a alternative choice, if you can't find A1 near you. Size and weight of note 4 is similar with A1(to be specific, note 4 is little larger and heavier).
Everything(including camera) is a huge improvement, mostly screen size, performance and battery life. It will be an excellent choice.
About the 5X, no offence to 5X users, it isn't even an option. 2GB of ram in ARM64 device is not a thing. I used it before, suffered from huge ram shortage and hot phone, not to mention constant fear of phone suddenly dying. Camera is better than A1, but that's all...
if you want to test the size mate just look for a similar 5.5 inch phones, there is not much difference between them and yeah the camera isnt great in the dark but it is still a very good phone
Thank you for your fast response! I will test other 5.5 phones and will reach a conclusion.
Pretty sure it's the best choice for the price and also for a Nexus user. Pixel is great but even the 1st version is too expensive for my taste.
One more thing that is very important to me: did anyone test the mic while recording in loud environment like a club or concert? Was the sound distorted?

I don't remember how well the N4 fares when it comes to recording in noisy environments, but the A1 definitely falls short in that field. It cuts the lower frequencies and yes the audio you get is distorted. For my usage it's bearable, but if you plan to use the phone to regularly records live music look somewhere else.
Otherwise it's a splendid and equilibrated phone considering the price tag.
Sent from my Mi A1 using Tapatalk
Thanks for the heads up. The Nexus 4 also gets the sound distorted but with the right kernel I can control the mic gain.
Maybe we can change that in the future.
Try this video, it is not music, and not a club, but construction site is also rather loud.

Mmm difficult question. I'm very happy with the phone, great, really great battery life, fast processor and clean Android with fast updates.
But my next phone will definitely be smaller. The only thing about the MiA1 that I don't like... is the size. I don't have very large hands an when I try to type and hold the phone with one hand, it starts getting uncomfortable. It's not a deal breaker for me, but if a company releases smaller similar phone, with smaller bezels or an 5.0/5.1 inch screen, I'll absolutely trade this device and get the smaller version.

Couldn't Redmi 4x be a better choice?

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Huawei P20, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Huawei P20 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I like so many things about P20 and few don't, P20 pro is not worth the money even if it 3 cam or highest rated on DxO , I got Sony A7 full frame mirrorless which no future phone can match at least for next five years
Good: Dual SIM as standard with most UK retailer
Design, front fingerprint reader
8.1 out of box
Huawei's customer service
Dolby Atmos
Reasonable price and even better with £320 Bose headphones
4 GB ram is not flagship class but acceptable
Bad: poor IP rating
No autofocus front cam with wasted megapixel (24 MP) what's the point ?
No FM radio
No infrared
Screen resolution is ok but screen quality is not on par with Sony, Samsung, LG or HTC
main snapper is too good on paper but in actual test I found not much visible improvement compared with last year's model
Given the size of battery , the battery life will dafinatly not better than P20 pro, Mate 10 pro, OnePlus 5, or Galaxy S9
Given the scenario I will go with Huawei mate 10 pro

is this confirmed somewhere? Does anybody sell it dualsim in the UK?
I preordered mine from cpw and will surely return it if it's not dualsim as it's a dealbreaker for me.

Anyone else having serious lag in Google maps?
Previously: Huawei messed something up in the past on P10 and map on satellite mode worked like s**t but they fixed on Emui 8.
However now on my P20 everything is slow and freezes in Google Maps, will check logcat for anything strange.

I don't have any issues with Maps on my P20 paul678, Satellite view does however take 2-3 seconds to load but is fine after that.

For me the map itself is ok, scroll/pan/zoom works pretty well.
The problems appear when pressing the top search..that takes some time to react and a similar problem when doing a long press to drop a pin and then try to open the bottom sheet that contains details.
Can you check to see if you have problems with the above mentioned scenarios?
Love this handset overall. Battery life is great, camera is great, screen is great, sound is great (which was a big bone of contention with me coming from LG V20!).
Please add section on real-life review for Audio Quality! Both speaker and headphones (wired and wireless!).

Hi, I deactivated the on screen buttons a while ago, find more convenient using the multifunctional home button. I had the impression of yellow on the buttons bar also before, more a software issue to me.

I replaced my Zuk Z2 Pro with the P20. French n°1 telecom company made a price mistake and sold it for 249€ for about 15 minutes. It was the perfect occasion to change my phone.
Pros :
- Screen. Quality is just under the Z2 Pro AMOLED, but it's nice, big, reactive.
- Battery. It lasts way longer than what became the Z2 Pro battery
- Power. Obviously, nowadays, every phone allows you to do everything quickly when you're not into gaming
- Quality. The phone looks like it's perfectly build.
- Huawei offers, in France, the Freebuds with the phone (12 weeks to receive them, so I don't know if they are good)
- Bundle is nice : silicon case and noise reduction earphones (I don't like them, but
Cons :
- EMUI. I've been on custom ROMs over the last 5 years, and, OMG, it's very hard to be on a OEM ROM with so many limitation. Simply expand notification on the lockscreen or skipping a track with Vol+ or - is impossible. It induces erratic behaviour in some apps (no notifications from Telegram, even if all parameters are the same than Whatsapp), etc...
- Locked bootloader. I missed the news of Huawei preventing unlocking after the 25th of July. I hope there will be a solution soon for that.
- The charger. Every other charger than a SuperCharge one will charge the phone veeeeeeeeery slowly. My car charger, 2,1A, can't even charge the phone when Waze is on... My QC3 power bank becomes almost useless. As soon as the battery of the P20 will last less than a day, I will be annoyed. I hope it will never happen.
- Size : it's 4mm higher than the Zuk Z2 Pro, and it's 4mm too much. To fit in my pocket, the perfect size is 145mm.
- Phone Clone did not work with my Zuk Z2 Pro, it was a pain to import all the datas
- No SD card : risk of losing everything if the telephone is lost or whatever. To retrieve datas from one phone to another, SD Card is the most practicle
I'm waiting for the Mi 8 SE to be released in France with the right LTE frequencies, or an equivalent phone. I'll then sell my P20.
Excelente!

I have exactly same problems as you describe, but to be noted: I did not update the phone since I first started it so... that might be the problem because it is urging me to update like every day (and the fix might be in some later build)....

Lol should probably update
I never thought of this as a "flagship" phone and honestly it isn't. It's an expensive mid-range device.
As far as rating from 1 (worst) to 5 (best)
1. Screen - 5 Sharp and colorful. I like this display, I think Huawei phones with LCDs are top notch screens, their Amoled screens they use are not so much.
2. form/size/ - 4 Perfect size for those who aren't looking for a large device- People coming from Samsung Note, and Pluses, iPhone pluses- look elswhere, this phone will feel significantly smaller. Still not 5 though. The aspect ratio is just kinda weird. I actually wish if was wider a bit, because using it landscape mode in navigation, half the screen is gone with the GPS GUI with the map is only 1/3, same issue with lots of other apps. This problem isn't only this phone specific, many other phones narrowing down their display size, like its some sort of a trend now, I'm not very happy about it.
3. Operating system - 2 While it has improved over the last couple of years, EMUI is still laggy. I can't pinpoint the real issue, since I'm not a developer but it seems like touch /sensitivy issues. I saw some complains regarding dead areas/less sensitive spots on some Huawei devices, and it seems like a recurring problem on more than just one model. There is also that sense of lacking fluidity. Anyone who used pure Google Android or near stock, or iOS or even Touchwiz will notice a sense of disconnect between touch input and reaction time in EMUI, and sometimes hang ups and delays, other times it's reacting too fast . It's hard to demonstrate, because even if someone would make a video, it's more of a feeling kinda thing, while using the device, a video wouldn't really show the issue.
There is also a sense of incompatibility while using even popular apps, whether they lag at some point or the app has to be restarted or even crash. Or have the app work as intended and then suspended in memory, return and the app would lag or just hang up, forcing me to quit and restart.
This happened to me more than once, and not only on the P20, but on an older Honor device. I have to blame EMUI because Chinese phones running near stock Android but similar hardware (or even weaker chipset) does not exhibit the same behavior.
4. Camera (rear) - 4.5 Can't give 5, because after a month of using this phone, there are time when the camera also lags, gets frozen or behaves erratically. To be on the positive note, this happens rarely, but it happens I'd say 1 out of 30 times the camera is launched. This might be a combination of apps loaded in the background while the camera is launched /re-launched or the phone is putting apps to sleep and just can't react quickly to user input, I don't know. Otherwise when it works, it makes remarkable shots, very "Instagram worthy" ones, although some people will probably turn off the AI to produce more realistic shots instead of Lord of the Rings style fantasy scenery. Jokes aside, the camera on this can be easily match the top flagships of 2018 phones, although personally I still prefer Samsung phone cameras work . And just for reference, I don't like iPhone _____cameras either (insert any iPhone since 2010), with their yellow/brownish tint applied on everything and under or over exposed shots and no control over anything user unfriendliness.
5. Camera (front)- 3. I don't really use it much, but the few times I tried it, it's made for selfie maniacs with all beauty modes, even with the beauty mode off, it still looks like it applies something. Blonde hair can show up as reddish for some reason, other times people I took selfies with noticed, that their eyebrows were missing. Funny as it sounds, the phone tries to Photoshop you aggressively without your consent, depending on the lighting conditions, but otherwise the selfie camera I'd rate it average, because it's more of a trend, even the newest iphones produce selifes, that are love it or hate it, depending on what the user is looking for.
6. Battery: - 4. By 2018 standards, it's average to very good. I see some people complain about 4-5 hours of screen on time, others report up to 8. I personally got about 5-6hrs and standby time is amazing. I'm sure EMUI has an aggressive power management, which may save plenty of battery life, but I suspect it may be also the culprit some of the issues regarding system performance and app management.
6. Overall : - 3.75 out of 5. After using several phones in 2018, including cheap budget phones to the iPhone X and back to mid range, this phone is no way and no how a flagship phone. It's a an expensive top-mid-range device. It's neither anything special, nor mediocre. Recommended for people coming from Apple and have absolutely zero skill using an Android. I also think, it's overpriced, especially right now (2019 January).
* Extra note: The vibrator. Very 2013-ish. Huawei needs to learn to implement a better taptic engine. iPhones are unbeatable in it, probably their best feature. The buzzing feel just don't cut it anymore. As I heard Pixels have them well, and some of the newer Motorola phones have it well done and they are cheaper. It gives a whole new dimension to the device to have a good haptic feedback. This phone buzzer/vibrator just feels kinda cheap and obsolete.
I agree with dollarpapa, P20 is a decent phone but nothing remarkable really. I bought it 6 months ago for a beefy price tag of 545 euros, it costs around 450 euros now. The main reason I picked p20 at that time was the camera, it was the 2nd best rated camera according to dxomark and bunch of youtubers.
My thoughts in brief:
1. Camera: Really good at night. Not great during the day.
2. Screen: pretty bright and crisp, however Amoleds are always more appealing.
3. Battery: very good.
4. UI: garbage. Like others have mentioned, there is a minor touch lag that kills the smoothness compared to say og Pixel.
5. Speed: the storage is really fast, that means apps open up really quick. Memory management is horrible, worse than og Pixel.
Overall I'd say don't buy this phone in 2019 unless you want it only for night time pictures. A decent alternative is Galaxy S9 without sacrificing much in terms of camera quality. For performance, I'd go with Pocophone f1,but the camera will be much worse.
