Hello,
I quarantined com.providers.settings.storage and got my G900P NE5 Soft Bricked.
Any way of getting it back withouth factory reseting and wiping my data?
Or any way of getting access to internal storage ?
Stock recovery. Was rooted, would like to keep knox at 0....

Apologies if this question has already been asked, but is it possible to unroot a i9500 without losing data? I used CF root if it matters.
Saw this thread, but it involves a factory reset and will result in data loss.
The objective is to get the OTA updates as they roll out and then root again

flashing stock firmware with odin, dont wipe data.
but sometimes you need to wipe data if you stuck in a bootloop after flashing.
make backup before.

Ok thanks. Will this also reset the phone to "official" status?
Hi all,
First time I hard reset my Note 3 I did from Settings... my internal SD card got wiped!!! Lost EVERYTHING!!! Photos, music, damn (in all fairness, it did warn me it was about to do just that... but I was a little tipsy and, well, famous last words)! Next time I did a reset, I went in through stock recovery (I am rooted, but my Knox warranty indicator is still 0x0 ), chose factory reset, and my Internal SD card got blown away AGAIN!!! This time I had made a full backup of my IntSD before I reset the phone, but I'd still like to know how to hard reset my rooted Note 3 running stock MJ4 without losing all my IntSD card contents.
I am rooted, so could I not somehow format just the data and cache partitions without harming my Internal SD card?
Thanks!
First of all, if you want to preserve your knox 0x0 status, I suggest you update to 4.4 using the N900W8 guide in the general section.
The reason I asked you to update is because you need to flash custom recovery ( Twrp ) which will trip knox normally but if you update to 4.4 using the guide, you can flash recovery, root and custom roms and won't trip knox. Using custom recovery is the only way I know where you can choose which part of the firmware to wipe.

Hello. I have a rooted Verizon Galaxy S4 on 4.4.2 and the NC5. I tried to install a mod thing. The instructions on this website said to flash this zip. I used this flash gordon app to flash the zip. Now, my phone will not turn on, It goes past the Samsung screen, but cannot pass the Verizon screen. The animation plays but it just stays on the same screen forever. How can I fix this? Will I have to do a factory reset? Also, is there a way to backup my apps? I just realized that I accidentally deleted my backup yesterday. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
If a cache wipe doesn't work, then you need to reflash the firmware you are on. It won't wipe your system.

Hello and thank you for replying. I wiped the cache both in safestrap and in the android recovery, but my phone is still not turning on. How would I reflash the firmware on my phone? Also, how would I be able to retrieve my files? Would it work if I wipe/factory reset?

You are on the N5 firmware. Then just reflash the N5 firmware for Verizon with Odin.
Factory reset would do nothing more then losing your apps. So you don't have to do that.
Just flash the N5 firmware and you still will have everything. You have to reroot though and probably flash safestrap again but that's it.

Hello. I would like to thank you for your help. I did what you said and found the firmware and successfully reflashed the N5 firmware using instructions on a website. Although I already did make the mistake of factory reseting and did lose my files . What I flashed claimed to theme my Galaxy S4 like the S5. Since it didn't work, I just ended up installing the Hyperdrive ROM. Thank You and have a nice day.
I have a Samsung S4 9505 mobile which is stuck in a bootloop.
In order to fix it I have installed a new firmware (Android 5 and 4.4) via ODIN but that does not change the boot loop.
USB debugging is not active on the device. I have wiped the cache several times. I do not want to make a factory reset because there is still some important data on it.
Is there a way to fix this or to rescue the data?
Thanks
Dusi
If the data is in the internal storage, install TWRP and use its file manager and try to recover it that way. It's odd that reinstalling the ROM via Odin didn't help, but regardless of that, a factory reset is likely in your future. If the data cannot be retrieved using the TWRP file manager, it's lost.
Hi! My Galaxy S8 G950F recently went in a bootloop while installing an official OTA update (from Oreo, it should be just a small security+bugfix update) with everything stock and original; given that I had some unbacked up data (much data actually, my bad) I tried to recover it without wiping by reflashing with ODIN with a HOME_CSC file, but this didn't work, so I had to flash a wiping CSC firmware and my phone is now empty. I'd like to try to recover my deleted data with this PhotoRec procedure (https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/Recover_data_from_an_iPhone), but this requires root and, before losing my warranty, I'd like to know if it's worth trying it. In particular, I'd like to know if with default settings encryption is active and if this is a problem for data recovery (for example, if keys are destroyed and regenerated after reflash).
Thank you for your support!
