Hello. I have a rooted Verizon Galaxy S4 on 4.4.2 and the NC5. I tried to install a mod thing. The instructions on this website said to flash this zip. I used this flash gordon app to flash the zip. Now, my phone will not turn on, It goes past the Samsung screen, but cannot pass the Verizon screen. The animation plays but it just stays on the same screen forever. How can I fix this? Will I have to do a factory reset? Also, is there a way to backup my apps? I just realized that I accidentally deleted my backup yesterday. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
If a cache wipe doesn't work, then you need to reflash the firmware you are on. It won't wipe your system.

Hello and thank you for replying. I wiped the cache both in safestrap and in the android recovery, but my phone is still not turning on. How would I reflash the firmware on my phone? Also, how would I be able to retrieve my files? Would it work if I wipe/factory reset?

You are on the N5 firmware. Then just reflash the N5 firmware for Verizon with Odin.
Factory reset would do nothing more then losing your apps. So you don't have to do that.
Just flash the N5 firmware and you still will have everything. You have to reroot though and probably flash safestrap again but that's it.

Hello. I would like to thank you for your help. I did what you said and found the firmware and successfully reflashed the N5 firmware using instructions on a website. Although I already did make the mistake of factory reseting and did lose my files . What I flashed claimed to theme my Galaxy S4 like the S5. Since it didn't work, I just ended up installing the Hyperdrive ROM. Thank You and have a nice day.

Not sure, but i would start with the basics--
1. Don't use Factory Reset. Do it manually thru Advanced. Wipe System/Data/Caches 3
2. Flash 4.3 rom for your phone before flashing a 4.4.
3. If you continue to have issues back up your internal sdcard to pc and format it then reinstall the data.
2.5.0.2 has been rock solid for me
I am not familiar with European phones. You could try a differnet kernel for you phone.
Did you Google your problem to see if anyone else has the issue.
Good luck--

Not sure on going back to original. Maybe Odin with a stock tar file for your version. Not familiar with that though. I have the wallpaper issue also. Not uncommon. Going of you wipe as suggested and redo internal card, you will be OK. Sometimes files are left there from previous roms and can effect new rom. Calling it a nite.

Im planning to reflash my phone back to stock as a few things are messed up, will be flashing via odin the base firmware is UEND6 and will reflash the same firmware so that I can still root w/o tripping knox, would reflashing via Odin clear user data?
i guess not

I guess just flashing the firmware won't wipe the data.
I flashed stock over a CM install and forgot to wipe data. My stuff was still there but the install was definitely a little bit unstable with background apps crashing. It didn't wipe data, but the phone needed a data wipe afterwards to be usable...

I kinda need to get my data back before wiping, I installed 3 new xposed modules and I am not 100% sure which of the 3 is causing the issue, Im stuck at the Samsung logo.
EDIT:
Im wondering if factory reset would delete camera photos stored on the internal memory, if not I have most of my impt stuff backed up online.

Install TWRP recovery (will trip knox) and make a TWRP backup of the entire phone including data partition. Once inside TWRP recovery you can also mount /data and adb pull whatever data you need from it, including the backup. Not sure what to do if you need to access embedded app data that you can not pull through adb.
When I flashed stock without wiping data my files were still there though.

Still waiting for the download to complete. Samfirmware is only giving me 300kb/s and I dont know where else to get stock firmwares.
To close this issue with a resolved status, I would like to say one thing.
If you flash a leaked firmware - it will wipe your phone.
If you flash a stock firmware - it will NOT wipe your phone.
Factory reset will not wipe your internal SD.
Installing TWRP or anything unofficial will trip your KNOX. If your data is worth losing warranty - go for it
I was with a UEND6 firmware and just gonna flash the same to get my data back and factory reset the phone.
EDIT:
Got my data, everything seems to be perfectly working aside from the task manger, Gonna factory reset the phone and probably reflash with odin to have a clean start, would ticking repartition be necessary for a fresh install ? ( but I remember that required a PIT file )
I installed stock rom via Odin after many fails got succeed in flashing. Now stuck in bootloop wiped cache still no result. Any solution ^(

What stock rom do you got?
Is it the right model? downloaded it from sammobile?
Did you perform a factory reset from recovery before booting the ROM for the first time?

I have the same problem. Note 3 stuck at SAMSUNG logo, i used flashify's reboot recovery.
Already try to wipe cache, but not restore factory setting as I need my internal data.
Used ODIN to update AP with 2014's MD5.
What should I do to fix it?

Which Note 3 do you have? Which ROM did you flash with Odin? Did you enable USB debugging? You could try to flash TWRP, mount the data partition in TWRP, and copy the data to your computer.

SOLVED!
Thanks. I already figure it out.
1. Flash TWRP
2. Restore factory settings
3. All media files saved
Thanks a lot! :good:

Any roms available for smt116ny?
Sorry to start a thread for something that I think is simple. I want to update my S5 to the newest PF4. I was on a rooted 5.0.1 before. I didn't care about keeping root, etc.
I used SamFirm to download the newest firmware. Then ODIN to flash the newest firmware.
The result was it upgraded my phone to 6.0.1 instead of a clean install. In the old days, I recall having to clean cache, clean Dalvik cache, and maybe some other steps.
I simply want to nuke my phone 100%, and load it with the stock firmware PF4.
If I reboot my phone into recovery I see Wipe Date/Factory Reset and Wipe cache partition. I envision that is what I need to do, but looking for confirmation. Also, does the order matter?

You just need to flash a full factory tar from odin
Where do I get a full factory tar? I used SamFirm, the screencap is below.

You can use Samsung smart switch emergency upgrade and initialization option to fully wipe and upgrade your device.
Or just flash the stock firmware, and then go to recovery and do a factory reset.

Hi,
I tried installing a lineageos 15.1 ROM, but didn't work for me. I loaded the 7.1 ROM on the system, I wiped for a clean install, but could not find the storage path in the root. So I loaded it onto a usb drive and connected to my phone, tried installing, but I'm getting an error saying "Can't install this package on top of incompatible data." I have installed many ROMs from a usb before, don't know why I'm getting this. If anybody can help me, thank you.
Performed a full wipe of system, data, and cache before flashing?

Yes, but I didn't wipe internal storage. For some reason I cannot find the storage path in the root.
You could use twrp to wipe as well.
Are you flashing over a stock ROM?

No, as I said, lineageos 15.1. I did use twrp to wipe specifically System, Dalvik, Cache, and Data.
Only other possible solution I can think of would be to flash the latest stock ROM and start over.

Hi, do you know where I can download that?
Try sammobile.com, updato.com, or Samsung-firmware.org for the stock ROM.

Hi, the stock ROM is loaded! Thanks! But...I'm getting a problem where the T-mobile splash screen is just there, the OS isn't loading. The brightness is at the lowest but flashes to the highest every 14 or so seconds. How can I fix this porblem?

I flashed the latest firmware from updato, I didn't factory reset. Do I do that from twrp or the stock, because I already have twrp on it.
Try twrp first. If that doesn't fix it, use stock recovery.
