Hey guys! I just found out that someone on eBay is selling the latest Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 (3.5) factory unlocked. There are tons of developers who are looking for a device with the latest Firefox OS v2.0 for testing and development, this is a good device in my opinion.
Hope this will help someone!
I wish someone was selling the Pixi 4. It has a ton of important spec upgrades from the Pixi 3.5.
I'll wait it out and see
the default OS for pixi 3 3.5 is Android . how to make it FireOS ? any idea ?

If you want a Lumia, buy a Lumia. Bizzarre menus? Check. Limited appstore? Check. Difficulties syncing? Check.
Lumias by themselves ain't bad, they got some great cameras (the high-end ones), the low-end Lumias are better performers than the low-end Androids, I have to admit.
It has been done before, the HTC HD2 started as a Windows device, but Android has been ported for it and development is still going.
The Note 3, however, is not a device with too much development for it.
Either sell it and get a Lumia, or get used to it. Even if it's 2015, the Note 3 is one infernally powerful device, trust us on that.
Hey guys,
There is a international version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro (Kenzo) which also supports LTE Band 20 which is substantial for me considering buying a new phone.
What is also substantial for me, is xda's devs and custom ROM support. So as this obviously is different from the standard Kenzo (also 2 mm thicker), I asked myself if all the Kenzo ROMs will plain work for it, too?
As the networking band support is also part of the system I slightly doubt it. But it would be great. And if so I would by it instantly.
Here's the phone: http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_502848.html?lkid=10204748&utm_source=tt_de
Anyone can give some advice on this (asap, as there's China's Single Day Sale today ).
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Seyron
It does work. I had a kenzo without band 20 and had RR ROM installed. Now i flashed my new Kate with the same rom but with Kate Modem.zip and I have it fully working with good LTE 4g reception.

That sounds great. As you own the phone and it sounds like also some time now, are there any concerns to consider about it? Like something is really bad? Camera, fingerprint, sound, display?

I just got the Special Edition with the 11/11 sale. I always thought Special Edition and Internation Version were the same thing! Now my question is: what's the difference between these two versions, besides the 2mm?
As for ROMs (and even accessories): Kate I feel has enough options to allow me to have made this purchase, especially since I won't be changing them every other day.
EDIT: Look at the specs deep into the Gearbest page:
> Product size: 15.25 x 7.60 x 0.87 cm / 6 x 2.99 x 0.34 inches
It's the International/Special/Kate edition - not Kenzo+ as you thought.
Hi, since the launch of Redmi 3s prime i was very excited to buy this it has some great hardware installments in budget price i had no money back then but now I've it but now im confused.
There is not much development available for this device & I heard that kernel sources has been released even after that thread are still inactive. All i see is unofficial build of different ROMs and less active user ?
I'm an extremely FLASHAHOLIC user anf i keep changing ROMs in my current device Redmi 1S which has decent development.
Also There is redmi note 3 which i can buy instead (but used) has very good android development.
Now please tell me should i buy this device ?
Are ROMs and Kernels being building ?
@d3kod3 Kernel sources has been released not so long ago - at the very beginning of this year. So the development for our device will improve, that's only a matter of time. Thanks to our really great team of fantastic and talented developers, we have already nearly 100% working custom roms - major bugs were eliminated and everything seems that we will see happy ending ?
So far I have began the bases for creating a device tree for the idol 4 keep in mind this will not work for the idol 4s.
https://github.com/TeamRegular/android_kernel_alcatel_msm8976-common
https://github.com/TeamRegular/android_device_alcatel_idol4
The kernel is common because the idol4s and idol4 share the same soc base 8976. So this means it's possible to split the 4 tree into a common tree for idol 4 and idol 4s but I do not own this device so I won't focus on that. This thread is just to get the community hyped and generate a group of people willing to test. I also want to mention that builds will be tested on the USA cricket variant. Also if you have any questions I am also a cricket sales representative.
I'm definitely willing to do some testing, I have the cricket variant as well. Excited to see some progress on this device!
I'm excited to see someone working on development for the cricket idol 4. I just got mine working again after waiting for parts from China to repair the USB port. The stock rom isn't terrible but having some better rom options would be great. I'm willing to test when something becomes available. Thanks for your work
Im in for testing too
You can count me in.
I alreayd supported @DeckerSU and tested his root method for the Idol 4.
As soon as I get a new charger for my laptop I can continue.

The cricket variant is 5.2 inches that's about the main difference unless there is camera variation between them. I couldn't tell because of the many devices in the kernel. 4 and 4s share the same kernel source.

Better learn how to port ROMs then, people like to say they're going to do stuff for this phone but in the end if you want it you gotta do it yourself
Today I read that Android 8 goes on a modular structure, and the fact that the system is quietly put from one firmware to several smartphones. Do you think someone will be able to port under our smartphone?
I dont believe this phone is forgoten by its manufacturer Alcatel and I dont see anyone doing something it didnt even had the nougat update
Android 8? Are you crazy bro ??? first 6.1 + 7.0 + 7.1 more more more after 8.0
Alcatel is very bad company, all firmware uptdates impossible.
bad company
I know that now this was my first and my last Alcatel phone I like the phone but Alcatel showed that they don't care about their customers today Samsung announced that his 3 year old S6 phone will get also Android 8 update and so with newer device no upadate's... shame for Alcatel not for us
Oreo added a functionality called Project Treble which makes updating phones easier because it segregates the sections that need to get updated so that Carriers/Manufacturers can update their code quicker. Without that functionality, it is possible to get Oreo, but updates are just as hard to implement as Nougat would be.
In short, no, I don't think that Idol 4S will ever get Oreo. I do think that any future phone should have Oreo (with Project Treble) to potentially avoid this situation in the future.
We can not install any custom roms without opening the bootloader lock! Alcatel is a very dishonest company does not even give us this !! I sent a message to Alcatel over all social media accounts, but they did not even give me one answer. I really like my phone, but it gets so boring like this ...

Sometimes i just can't believe alcatel's flagship phone(yes i'm aware of the idol 5s) won't receive any major update... No android 7,no android 8, no nothing. Alcatel(Tcl) has become a joke, they only care about releasing as much crappy low budget devices they possibly can, while software support for said devices is non existent. Its a shame really, because every once in a while they can release a good smartphone(idol 4s) that is completely forgotten software wise. No more alcatel for me...
Do not buy Alcatel phones they Will not update the OS, i know for Shure i have bought a lot of their
Phones, none was ever upgraded, even no security patches.
