Cracked screen - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently dropped my g2 and cracked my screen. Screen is still working except a small part. The problem is my phone is heating up a lot. Could it be from the screen. If replace the will that do the job or there could be something else wrong.
Just thot someone could share their experience
Also the phone is now losing battery quickly and charging slowly probably due to the heating.
It only heats up at the top where the motherboard is located espeacially where you connect the touchscreen. Also the screen crack is also at e top just next to the speaker.

Hermes touchscreen working randomly...trying to find the culprit.

Hi ,
i have an ATT 8525... its used from another guy.... he has told me that the touchscreen will work at random....
as far as i can tell.... when i charge the phone .... the touchscreen stops working... because bof the temperature im assuming.
he told me to remove the battery and let it set there for an hour or 2.. and pop it back in...
voila... the touchscreen is back....
BUT.. it only lasted for about 10min... while the phone was on... it stopped responding again after 10min..... because the phone heated up again to operating temperature ?...
does anybody have any idea what i will need to replace to get it back to normal?
the phone DOES NOT have the common issue that i see everywhere about the top right hand corner being stuck and always closing apps or launching the start menu...
the phone screen just becomes unresponsive.
i have tried loosining up the screws behind the slide... it did not help.

and even if not identical the causes are likely to be the same.
Unfortunately, the same effects of screen not reponding could be caused by different components.
All we can say is that it is likely one of the following:
The d/pad daughter board
a poorly fitting d'pad to screen connector block
The Digitizer/LCD or its flex cable
A fault in any of these - made apparent often when the device is warm or been switched on for 10 or more minutes.
There is no magic bullet here! If you do not have test equipment then replacing these parts (probably starting by checking the d/pad connector) is all you can do. Repair centre's appear to have mixed results with this as well - probably due to it's intermittent nature.

"Half-bricked" trinity after lcd broke - bootloader still working

Hello,
I'm facing the following situation:
I droped my Trinity and the LCD broke on the left side pretty bad. It booted fine after that (the LCD was still visible on the right side) but after 10-15 seconds it just froze. The hardware buttons were not working, nor the touch commands. I could only rest the phone with the stylus.
I successfully replaced the LCD by myself and now I'm stuck with the freeze. I was hoping the freeze will disappear but I have the same symptoms as before.
I tried a hard-reset but after that the phone froze during the booting process with the logo on the screen.
I entered the bootloader and connected the phone to the PC. It worked just fine and the freeze didn't occur anymore. I uploaded a new ROM but again, during the booting process I got the goddamn freeze.
I was hoping that everything beside the LCD survived the crash but I'm starting to have second thoughts.
I would appreciate any advice or hints on how to find what could cause my problem.
Thanks
If its freezing up on you then I would imagine you've caused some hardware damage.
Like you, I would have hoped that replacing the broken LCD woudl fix it, but there's nothing to say you havent partially damaged or dislodged something else, especially if it was a high-impact drop...
PS
I wouldnt try doing any more uploads to it either if I were you. If it freezes up during one of those then you could end up trashing the program area of your device too!...
Hi guys,
I had quite the same problem, without braking the lcd but anyway it fellt from a airplane onboarding bridge :-( and then it has started to randomly freeze.
I think I may have found something. I've noticed that when I press strongly the battery it's not freezing anymore!
I've opened the phone and saw that under the little metalic protection's plate there were a contact plate between a little black component and this metallic protection'splate. I've cleaned it, apply some thermal past (like cooling artic) and the I've put a little sheet of paper between the plastic frame and the metallic protection's plate. I've all remounted.. And surprise!!! not one freeze since two day!!
I hope it will last.. but if yes this s F### great
ähm.. I release any kind of responsabilities concerning this action. I'm not a professional but as soon as it has work for me I wanted to share it ;-)
Seeeervus!!

[Q] Grey screen - display problem

Hi,
I had a small accident today with my HD2 . It felt from my pocket to the hard floor. It was in the leater pouch, but it hit right on the corner, where is no coverage.
I picked the phone up and was happy at first (no display cracks), but not for long. When I tried to turn it of, grey screed showed.
The device seems to be working, I can turn it on/off with the HW button...but I cant see anything.
As I said, there are no cracks of the glass layer so the digitizer should be ok. I just don't know actually.
Can anybody help me?

unfortunately you cant make that assumption, i have a hd2 with a badly shattered glass, (same as you, dropped from about 3 feet landed on the corner, shattered all the way to the other end of the phone) yet the digitizer and LCD worked perfectly for at least 18 months before finally the digitizer died, LCD still works fine.
My point being that just cos one part of the three (glass, digitizer, LCD) seems ok tells you nothing about the other two parts.
My guess is either the screen itself died, the connection on the mainboard broke/became unseated, or even that its unrelated to the screen at all and is in fact something else that broke and shows itself as a non responsive screen.
Im not sure if this is possible given that you have no screen to work with, and i guess something would need to be installed on the phone to make it work, but how about some software that shows your screen on the PC? you may even be able to tell if touching it is working.

Replacement screen bottom 1/4th of screen unresponsive. Need help!

Hey guys so earlier this year I dropped my phone and the screen cracked. I ordered an lcd + digitizer from ebay and installed it myself. Everything had been working fine for a couple weeks but then randomly one day I woke up and the bottom 1/4th of the screen didnt work. Also, my screen is not very secure onto the device. I can peel off the lcd if I desired. I put double sided tape on all the places that a guide showed me but the screen just doesn't seem to stay in which causes dust and other particles to get in between my screen. Could this be the problem?
Some things i forgot
This started off with only a small portion of the bottom part of my screen to stop working. But then it turned into my whole bottom 1/4th of the screen not working. However, the first time this happened, I fiddle with the screen since it comes off and just moved it around and the bottom 1/4th worked again. However the problem reoccurred and I can't seem to fix it this time.
Thanks for any help!
Edit: Forgot to mention that I tried to open the phone again and press down on the digitizer pins to make sure they were secure. Still didnt work
sorry for posing this as it offers no solution
but just to say i have the same situation on a nexus 5.. came compete with frame.. worked for a week then bottom 1/2 inch stopped working
My upper 1/4th of the screen stopped working... Seems to be like a fairly common issue with the LG G2 and some cases appeared all of a sudden without drops or water, some other with a bit of liquid or slight drop to the floor.
In my case I think it was due to excessive moisture when I used the phone while sweating profusely.
A screen replacement is at hand right after I get my smartwatch

Unresponsive Touchscreen

Anyone having touch screen only issues? There's not a single crack on screen, I've always treated the phone very well.
I'm thinking whether I should replace the whole front, but curiously only my touch screen is not working, display is OK and works well using SideSync. Also, the entire touch screen starts working at random times (I haven't been able to figure out the conditions, it's not hot/cold or pressure; I've used a hair dryer, a refrigerator and heavy items on top of it).
In fact, it worked for a month after it started malfunctioning (initially it didn't work for some hours, and then worked again). But now it got worse again. It's not software as I've tried XtreStoLite and now I'm back to stock. Should I replace the whole thing?
Oh, I have the G900H.
Sounds like a bad digitizer. It would be wise to shop for a new one before it goes out completely.
