Problem with "Knock on" - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Last night i left my phone in working condition but today when i woke up in the morning and turned it on, it started to open up apps automatically and began to touch anywhere it want despite where i wanted to touch. I restarted it 2,3 times and it worked fine. Then when i tried to turn it on through Knock on, it wont turn on. It turns off pretty well but dont turn on. I backed up all my data and did a factory reset but i still got that problem. Please help me out with this issue. Is it hardware or software i cant figure it out. I searched online and one of thread mentioned about testing screen so i tested it through QuickMemo and found out that a little strip was unresponsive(maybe this is the reason of Knock on failure). Again i am not sure if its a hardware or software issue. Please tell me if it can be sorted out through software way. Your help is really appreciated !!
P.S. QuickMemo image is also attached below

I wish I could help more, but I'm only guessing. From your Photo, it does appear to be a hardware issue, but if you don't mind going through it all, you might try doing a Hard Reset (AGAIN, sorry..) and see if that fixes it. It's very possible that a Hard Reset will cure the problem. Only thing is you will loose all of your data, so be sure to back it up and restore it.
I know that's a long process, but it would help you figure out if you need to send it in for repair or not. Also, likely LG would have you do the Hard Reset as part of their diagnostics before they had you send it in to them anyways.
You can also use THIS METHOD to return to stock and see if that clears the problem. If you still have that strip that does not respond, then it's likely a hardware issue.

Thanks a lot. I went through diffrent threads and found out that many of LG users had this specific issue and they call it "Ghost Touch". Many of the users recommended their own techniques some of them were really weird. like one guy told to electricate the screen using a little thingi that comes out of a cigarette lighter (i know, weird) but many were claiming that it worked (again, shocked). Some of people told to open up the phone's back and place a two sided tape on LCD connector(yet again many of them claimed that it has worked well for them). But being a technical person i dont believe in these weird and illogical methods. What do u suggest? should i try one of these or not?
P.S. I am from Pakistan and you can't claim warranty to LG from Pakistan so sending my phone to LG for a repair is off the books

another thing.... i am running Lollipop FOTA at the moment. Will the hard reset also change the version to the stock version that came out of box? i.e JB

Both of these MIGHT work. I personally would not shock my phone to try to fix it though. The tape thing might work because over time, the connections inside the phone can become loose. The tape is simply pressing the connections tighter. I have had this issue on laptops, and it might relate to your problem, IF it is a hardware issue.

If you Hard Reset, it will reset to the current version installed on your phone. So, if you've used FOTA to update, you will refresh back to the FOTA version you have updated to, not back to the original stock version when phone was new.

What I'm guessing they mean by the tape thing is finding the spot where the connection is not good, and using a piece of tape to put pressure on the connection when the back is placed back on. I don't have any way of knowing where that spot is. If it were my phone, I'd open it up and start putting light pressure on different spots to see if the screen starts working right. If/When you find the spot, place a small piece of tape that will apply pressure there when the back is placed back.

8525 won't vibrate

I have read threads about people who have dropped their phone and lose the vibrate on their phones...
I however have not dropped my phone and lost the vibrate. This sucks! I don't have a warranty as this was purchased off of ebay.
Any idea's? Is it the consensus that the vibration motor clip inside the back cover is the culprit and somehow is no longer making contact?

Before assuming something physical I would double check everything else. The obvious -settings that turn on/off vibrate, any phone related software I might have installed. Then I would try a hard reset and test the vibrate funtion without any new software installed. (make a backup first though - if it turns out to be a hardware issue you can restore this backup)
If it looks like the motor contacts then it's a pretty simple fix. Remove back and adjust the motors spring contacts.
Just remember to align the camera macro's toggle arm when putting case back on
Mike
Well...
The hard reset has done nothing for me. I can't believe that the 8525 is so touchy that without even a fall the vibrate thing won't work now.
That is poor manufacturing. This is my second 8525, the first one had screen issues. Very disappointing, almost makes me want to look at treo's.

Well, it's certainly looking more like the contacts. Not a difficult fix if your doing it yourself. Still, a hassle all the same
Mike
I recall seeing a very good picture of the contacts and the back of the phone taken apart. My search has come up without me finding those pictures again. Has anyone seen the pictures I am referring to?

Here you go. Remove the 4 screws including one under Void (warranty) sticker and open back, bottom end first. Gently prise open. Top end may need a bit of wiggling about to come free.. That's more or less it - bend out contacts a bit. Remember to line up toggle arm on camera with macro switch on rear cover when replacing back. Test camera macro switch is moving lens in and out before replacing screws. It'll be a right pain if you put it all back just to find you have to redo it all cos camera switch is misaligned!

Good news it's fixed. Always sensible to try the software solutions before assuming a hardware issue.

Same problem on my trinity. When i tap it it works once or twice.. I guess I must look for those springs. Is there any photo of the insides of the trinity so that I don't screw things up?
No sound in my Hermes after flashing PDAVIET ROM
I know this sounds like a software issue but I have flashed and reflashed several times but to no avail.
I have a Hermes 300 with HardSPL. I flashed the latest PDAVIET ROM after which my sound stopped working. I also flashed Radio 1.56.70.11 (upgraded from 1.51) and installed Throttle Launcher and TouchFlo at the same time so I am not sure which of them may have caused this. I read somewhere that radio could be the cause so i downgraded to 1.47.30.10 but no luck. I flashed PDACorner ver 16, then ver 15, and finaly the original Dopod ROM (838Pro_HK_ENG_WM6_Upgrade_20070712). The funny thing is, after flashing the Dopod ROM, now my vibration doesnt work! Even after I flashed PDACorner ver 15 back, both sound and vibration dont work still.
I installed Schaps Avanced Config tool to check settings but it wont run - errors out "it is not signed with a trustedcertificate or one of its componenets cannot be found.."
Does anyone have any clue about this problem? This is beginning to worry me as i am not sure whether it is a hardware or software issue. BTW, sound from earphones work.
Funny thing.. after I flashed the PDAVIET ROM the vibration is back again. No sound however. Do you still think its a hardware problem? i will have to go get a torque screwdriver to open it up ...
Yeah it took a mild knock a couple of days back but im not sure if that what caused it

Well it's not an uncommon thing for that connector to work loose. Oh and the vibrate contacts can come and go as well. So if it suddenly stops vibrating again you could be pretty sure it's the contacts.
Torx 6 screwdriver and preferably a plastic case opening tool Though any flat plastic tool would do even a plastic knife - metal damages the casing.
I am assuming you have no warranty as opening will obviously void it.
Mike
its out of warranty so no worries there. Havent opened it up yet due to lack of the torx screwdriver
It now hangs on the bootscreen ....
Hi Mike, it looks like something else may have come loose. Reflashing works for a while, then the whole thing resets by itself (randomly) and hangs at the bootscreen. What else should I check when I open it up? Thanks for all your help.

Well it could be the main internal connector one board to the other. However, I'm more inclined to think the random closing is the old battery connectors not making a good contact with the battery. In the best cases all you need is a slip of card between the casing and the battery on the opposite side to the connector. In other words to push the battery a little more firmly against the connector block - hope that's clear.
In worse cases the battery connector block with the row of gold contacts has actually come free or partially free from the board - may be re-solderable.
With a slip of card in place do repeated soft resets until it re-boots fully.
Good luck
Mike
hey mike, where does the stylus rubber go in the hermes? do you have a pic or something? thanks for your help. cheers.
finally, sound working...connector was loose just as you had predicted. vibration also fine. also managed to fix that pesky rubber under the metal plate
Only the keyboard seems a little stiff when I slide it...
Thanks a bunch for your help. Those guides you have are real handy.

Well forgot to check in here to see how it was going! Pleased it worked out.
Just for the information of others here are some pics to help with the loose stylus caused by the rubber block coming loose:
Back casing removed, stylus in place
Stylus removed. Note the white clip that holds the end of the stylus.
NOTE: This picture also shows the vibrate motor on the back casing. (Bottom right with the two gold contacts). To improve the contact between vibrate motor and m/board, simply bend those springy contacts out a little.
The block is important because although the white clip helps retain the stylus it will remain loose and wobbly without the rubber/plastic block in place. When re-sticking the block use some superglue but be careful NOT to get glue on the face of the block that is not be stuck to the metal. If you do it will have a smooth surface and will not friction grip the stylus as it is meant to. Also do not assume that the previous sticky layer on the block will be enough to re-stick the block! It won't and it will come off again when you slide the stylus in and out.

Power button stuck!!! Please help!!!

The power button on the side of my 8525 is stuck in and cannot be pressed! I cannot turn my phone off. I have tried to pry it very softly but it wont budge. The phone works perfectly, just the button cannot be pressed at all...
What can I do to fix it??? I have tmobile, so would cingular help me at all if I took it to them? Should I try to take it apart? I got the phone last feburary so ive had it for a while. Should I try to contact HTC America to see what they could do???
Thanks in advance for all your help!
PLEASE!!! Does anyone have any suggestions?? My phone hasnt been turned off and i dont know what to do! Is there any way i could assign the power function to another button???
Please help!
Well, the phone should shut down itself after a while (i.e. suspend), go to your Settings -> .. somewhere on the Power / Battery settings. But, before you do that, make sure you do not have your button locked. . or else you will not able to wake your unit up (since you have a dead power button).
Anyway, there is no way of mapping the power button to another button. BUT, there is a software approach. Called ShutDown, (i.e. http://myitforum.com/articles/9/view.asp?id=6766), which seems to able to give you a shutdown thing like Windows. It does cause some problem though (i.e. hanging WM6 phones, in the Start->Programs).. not sure if it will cause problem with yours. But you can always reset your phone anyway (i.e. poke the reset button).
If you are comfy of taking it apart, I think you can do it. I think there are service manual for this. Look for "mikechannon" (a mod here) for his webpage for manuals. Or harrass him by PM him Note your warranty though. Or, you can buy a cheap Cingular PAYG card (if they have it there, I'm not in US) and pretend to be their customers? Try HTC US first? You have to make your own decision.

But seriously, if your lucky it's just the outer plastic switch cover that's stuck and not the micro switch that's jammed.

This happened to me a few weeks ago, I dropped it and it landed on the leg of an office chair, on its power button.
First of all I went into settings and told it not to lock the screen and buttons so that I didnt get locked out of my phone.
I then basically, fiddled with it for a while, using various pointy implements to try to free it, but I didnt manage to. After a day or two of normal use (making sure the battery didnt run out!) the phone occasionally asked me if I was sure I wanted to turn it off, just like it does when you press the power button, so the button had come loose a bit, but only to the extent that it occasionally engaged itself. Soon after I could press it in a tiny bit and sometimes it would engage, but it was unreliable. Anyway, it got better the more I pressed it untill now it's as good as new.
My advice to you is just give it as much 'attention' as you can, and it should soon dislodge.

Well, I am still having the problem.. I havent turned off my device in over 13 days and it is killing my battery life... It doesnt even last a day anymore... Does anyone else have a solution? The thing is that the screen flickers on and off like its being pressed when its not... I dont know... I believe that that as something to do with the power decrease...
Can I try to pry it lose??? What exactly is causing it to be pressed??? Can I put in a pay as you go card and have att fix it???
Any advice would help!
thanks!
You got some advice on here. Did you try to follow any of it?
Ive folowed everything! HTC wants $125 to repair my stuck power button. I am not completely comfortable taking it apart, but if i was given pretty decent instructions i could probably attempt it... The power button is not broken, it is just stuck... because when i pry at it, it activates itself...

Does anyone have anything?!?!? it is still broken.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

My Wizard is randomly going NUTS - Help needed!!!

Hey all, I don't know what's causing this but since yesterday my Wizard (K-JAM) has been going crazy.
I just plugged it into my USB port a min ago to charge it (not sync) and a whole random bunch of apps opened, including IE where 'hhhhhhhhh' and 'eeeeee' were repeatedly put into the IE search box, as if the buttons were stuck (this'd happen if the keyboard was open or not)
SMS would open too, the phone panel would open and the phone would appear to be dialing random things. Including successfully dialing (by itself) "333".
The hard buttons and keyboard seem to become disabled when this happens too and will randomly start working again.
I'm running Windows Mobile 6.1 TNT Official. Has anyone else experienced this kind of stuff?
This is a real mystery and driving me nuts. Is my phone possessed?! I may try flashing with a different ROM later, although TNT *has* been working ok for the few days I've had it on here.
Ok this is really odd. I've found that when this happens and it calms down a bit (keyboard/buttons work again), I open Word Mobile and try and type.. the letters 'h' and 'e' don't work (the 2 letters that appear randomly when the phone goes crazy). I have no idea why as I can use these letters just fine when the phone's acting normal.
Right now I have Word Mobile open and the phone's typing "yyyyyyyyyyyyyy" by itself. Buttons/keyboard have stopped working but touchscreen is fine.
Gawd. :S
Edit: Wish I knew WTF was causing this. It continues even after a soft reset. This time I've rebooted it, it originally messed about but is now back to normal.
Ok, it now seems I can (temp.?) fix the hardware buttons on the front of the Wizard doing nothing by opening the keyboard and hitting something like the windows key. Then all the front buttons work again.
I notice when the buttons are disabled often hitting the middle button (inside the up/down/left/right) brings up "Align Screen" for who knows what reason.
How annoying. I'm gonna flash another ROM and see if the problems go away. (currently using latest TNT Official)
EDIT: Still some buttons (q, e, i, g, h) are no longer working. What on earth has happened here?
Right, just flashed it back down to T-Mobile 2.26 and the randomness problems seem to have gone away [EDIT: No they haven't] but I still have completly lost the use of q, e, i, g and h. I have no idea how this has happened. Last night I had a low battery (first time) and the phone started going nuts at this point, when it was under 10% charge left.
Since then it's been very random. But I charged it up overnight and the problem hasn't gone away. Some of the random stuff it was doing was typing 'hhhhh' and 'eeeeee' non-stop (2 of the buttons that no longer work) which makes me think a chipset has screwed up in some way. Keyboard backlight is on constantly. It's the sorta thing I'd expect if I dropped it in a sink of water but the phone hasn't been under any sort of shock/pressure/water/whatever since I got it last week!
I'm beyond frustrated. To top it all the MiniSD card I ordered days ago finally arrived today and it's now completly useless.
Dunno what I'm gonna do now. :S
Final Edit: Ok so it looks like it could be something up with the Wizard itself, could anyone confirm?
- The button in the centre of the joypad either 1. Acts as 'Start' or opens 'Align Screen', this is completly random. (sometimes changes on opening/closing the keyboard???)
- Either the joypad works and the Answer/Reject buttons don't or vice versa - this too is completly random.
- The Left / Right softkeys on the KEYBOARD (top left, top right) work randomly. If they are working the keyboard doesn't work, and again VICE VERSA.
- The LEDs on the call reject button / keyboard are on constantly. This only changes for a time if i mash the keyboard.
- The 5 letters mentioned previously don't work unless I mash the keyboard, in which case the Wizard will sometimes take over typing for itself and then I'm able to use the keys afterwards again. (yeah, I understand this makes absolutely no sense!)
- The Wizard will completly spontaniously start opening random stuff and typing as if keys are jammed.
I've flashed to Tmob 2.26, 3.08, WM6.1 (TNT) & WM6.1 (another cook) and have exactly the same problem. This all points towards broken hardware. I should have guessed with the amount of dents, scratches and a broken button that this poor Wizard has been through the mill a few times! Shame it had to use me as its death bed!
If anyone can recommend anything to what it might be and what I could do to fix it then please let me know.
Thanks!

Make sure you don't have Smartskey installed (look in Windows\Startup and in Program Files). If you do, uninstall it, it's been corrupted somehow.
Otherwise:
Ok, I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but I think it's just the age of these phones. They get old, they get dirty. Don't believe me? Take off your battery cover and look at the grime that's gathered at the edges. Imagine what that does to your buttons!
You need to open the case, disassemble the keyboard section (and the faceplate too, for good measure), and thoroughly clean the contacts, the buttons, etc. The further you disassemble, the cleaner you will get it. See this thread for a manual on disassembly/reassembly:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=378764
Use good quality sterile cotton swabs (no dollar store crap for this), and pure (not dyed) isopropyl alcohol. Dab the swab in alcohol, and gently scrub every inch of the contacts, the circuit board faces, and the buttons.
When that's done, wait for it to dry...and I mean as dry as a mummy fart. DRY. Inspect everything carefully, looking for loose cotton threads, debris, and most important, streaks. Streaks mean you just smeared the gunk around without picking it up. If you find cotton or debris, use canned air to remove it. DO NOT USE TWEEZERS OR OTHER METAL IMPLEMENTS TO DO THIS. If you find streaks, go back and clean it again.
Once it is both dry and clean, reassemble it and test it. You should be good to go unless there's something broken.
If neither of these things works, I would strongly urge you to consider committing a violent act on the individual who sold you the phone... you probably won't get your money back, but it might make you feel better.
Cheers, the thing has me at my wits end. Keep having to remind myself it's only a phone
Yeah it's def not Smartskey or a soft problem as I've flashed it a whole bunch of times this afternoon.
From mashing the keyboard and causing it to do different things it looks to be a hardware problem (or full of junk like you say). I grabbed the pdf manual to look through but don't feel too comfortable taking the thing apart just yet.
I just slapped it about a bit as best I could out of frustration and unbelivably it seems to have come back to it's former glory. I'm not gonna get my hopes up and expect it to stay like this though.
Yeah it was an ex-company phone from a company upgrading their stock so no refunds / replacements. I guess if the worst comes to the worst it'll go on ebay as faulty and I'll be without a little gadget I really craved! Back to my £10 Sagem for the time being.
Thanks for the reply.
My Wizard is going nuts too. Also the buttons but a bit different. Take a look here:

Hi mate, your problem sounds similar to mine. Especially about the lights (though my green light is broken and only shows occasionally - came like that). You'll probably find that when it's in that state the problems arise.
Mine screwed up again after about an hour of my last post and the keyboard barely works at all now. Mashing it / hitting it / swearing at it isn't doing any good. I've virtually given up.
I'm not sure about a CID re-lock btw, but would Vodafone bother check to see if it was CID locked or not on return?
But hey, it sounds like a hardware malfunction. Good luck with yours & keep us updated if you find any kind of resolution !

^^^ WTF???
It would appear that we've been rickrolled. How annoying. I hope the moderators will get rid of that.
I could not fix the problem but my Wizard ist locked again and I will get a new one!

Glad to hear it.
Wish I had that option myself though. I've put my Wizard up for sale in the sticky thread.
I do hope to get another one in the near future though. There's enough fun to be had to warrant another purchase soon I think.

G1 Camera colors gone all weird! *Pics inside*

Okay, so my G1's camera colors are all weird.
I bought this phone and it had older cyanogenmod in it, and camera worked all fine.
Then i updated to newer, still worked and suddenly now the colors are very weird.
Does this seem like a software or physical error?
And, any suggestions?
(also, i dont have any effects on when taking pics, tried to reinstall cyanogen, and do factory data reset. Ive also tried with a expiremental cyanogen and stable one.)
I have the same problem with my G1, also running Cyanogen (currently experimental). Flashing back to original 1.5 didn't fix the problem either.

Yes, ive tried that, and from application info>camera>clear data too.
Not helping..
what happens if you try one of the camera apps in the market??
i have the same f*ing problem. tried replacing the actual physical camera itself with a older spare one i had laying around and it actually would just force close on me before it could bring up an image. (maybe the spare camera i had was just broke)
i also tried flashing back to the old DREAIMG.nbh to get rid of root and everything else and the camera is still showing wierd colors (after i changed back to original camera hardware)

Wow! Interesting, i guess theres not much else to do?
same thing happening to me too... everything was fine and then all of a sudden the camera is taking funky a$$ pictures with funky a$$ colors. lol my phone was perfect until i discovered this.... =[ anyone know how to fix it?
to the people who also have this problem, did any of you take your phone apart and put it back together? i did this once but not sure if it was taking it apart that ruined the camera or if it was flashing my phone that messed it up. cause i did both of these in the same day within an hour of each other so i have no idea whether it was the flash or the taking apart.
any insight would help... thanks!

hmm you may be onto something there...i took my phone apart as well to replace the housing a few days before i noticed the colors.
the little black screw that goes right near the camera got stuck to the camera 2 or 3 times because its magnetic. maybe this had something to do with it?
i bought another g1 today and tried replacing the camera but that wasnt the problem....
what i did was remove the whole lower part of the hardware (the green plate where the camera and keyboard thing connects... i dont know all the names for the parts lol) and switched it with the other phone. this worked for me.... so it was something that happened to that part of the phone i guess
now i have to root my phone again and start all over but at least my camera works! lol
I changed the housing on my iphone and messed up the camera like that
Just bumping this thread, to see if anyone has come up with a solution to this. I really do miss my camera..
I will send it on warranty sometime next week, see if they can/will fix it.
the same thing happened to my G1 camera!
I usually leave my phone in my pocket when I take showers and I think that the moisture inside the room somehow messed up my camera.
When it first happened, I turned off my phone and turned it back on. The camera was back to normal for a few days. After that, it went back to blurrs of blue and orange and its really annoying because the phone is fairly expensive and the camera messed up so easily.
I really don't know what to do about it except to take it to a t mobile store. Most likely I might have to get a new phone if other features mess up aswell.
bumping an old thread. anyone have a solution to this problem same thing happened to me
its a hardware problem It happened to me too. the lens is ****ed up. might need to replace.

just hot my hands on G1. had to take it apart, but i put it back together with the magnetic screw, and have the same weird color issue.. but over time, like a day, the camera wont even open. it says it has unexpectedly closed. i dont have any answers, but im gonna have to take it apart again and see if thats possibly the issue.
i got the same thing! pretty much it points to hardware problems. well, according to what ive been looking at. i tried fix_permission, i pushed a new camera apk & cleared data and im getting convinced its hardware

Poor wifi connection after screen replacement

Hey,
So I had my screen replaced from a shop up in Vaughan Ontario which they did a pretty good job however when I got home I relised that I had really poor connection to my main wifi router. I take about 5 steps away and it disconnects. I also have a wireless access point at the back of the house that my phone cannot even see so it switches to LTE. My screen was cracked for a week before I took it in and my wifi was working normally.
I took it back to the shop today and they had a look at it for an hour, a couple hotspots popped up but at max were 50%. They told me to make sure the plastic backing was seated properly?? I went back home and same issues. So I emailed them stating they need to resolve this. I dont even know when I can make it back since im somewhat out of the area and I was doing this on my days off. I also attached these pics to show the difference on my phone and my mothers phone.
Main Wifi - Konowaluk
Access Point - Eurotrash
My Mothers is the telus Moto
Sorry for the pic size.

I haven't taken my Moto X Play apart but it sure sounds like they didn't seat a ribbon connector or the actual main board has been dislodged in the housing. I used to have a Moto Atrix HD and there were mods to put a bigger battery in that was miniscule thicker but it was just enough to sometimes screw up the internal antennas from making a good contact from the main board to the housing.
It sure does suck for you though, as your going to have to pursue them for a fix.
Hopefully they will stand behind their workmanship and not give you grief over this. Good luck in getting it sorted out.

Well I confirmed at work that my phone cannot find any of my work wifi spots which is a big issue so I told them I'm dropping it off tomorrow. They told me to make the plastic back is seated properly and x play does not have a wifi antenna. Is this true? I told them I don't know what a plastic back has to do with a wifi signal.
Sent from my XT1563 using Tapatalk
Of course it has. Just remove the plastic back and you will see a few metal strips riveted to the frame. These are antennas. If they disconnected one while taking the device apart it's likely the forgot to connect it again properly.
Every device offering WiFi has antennas even if you don't see them. Antennas can be invisible or part of the exterior design. Google antennagate.
Tell them to fix it. The Moto X is screwed not glued so no big deal for them.

Well thats what im thinking, so I actually email and told them that. Will drop it off tomorrow and pick it up Friday afternoon. Should give them enough time to figure it out. If not im tempted to take it somewhere else and flip them the bill.
They couldn't figure out what the problem was so I lucked out and through their partner they were able to swap me with a new device. So in the end I'm a happy man.

Hello I have the same problem here, mine X play is the XT1563 and the screen was replaced and now I am almost without wifi, it only connects if I place the phone about 5 cm of the router.
I even buyed a new backseat cover with a new antenna and nothing.
Looking better I found that one of the metal covers in the motherboard is smashed, maybe there are components in short circuit?
try doing network reset?

I tryed installing TWRP, and I think I erased the data and installed Android 7, and same thing only works about 5cm from the router, how can I make a network reset?

I have the same problem. If I place the phone right next to the router, I can get a signal.
Can anyone point out which is the wifi antenna? I have opened up the phone, but can't figure out which is the wifi antenna connections. I checked out a few youtube videos on screen replacement. But none seem to talk in detail about the wifi antennas.
Edit1: In my case, the phone belongs to a relative. I ordered the replacement screen from ebay and she had some phone repair shop do the replacement. After she noticed the poor wifi. When she reached out to the phone repair shop, they gave her some BS that the new screen is not from original manufacturer or something like that. This is when I started searching on the web and came to this thread.
Edit2: My case is a bit more complicated. It looks like the guys who tried to replace the screen did a really shoddy job. Looks like they might have done some bit of soldering, because they likely twisted some connections or broke something. Attaching some pictures. They had absolutely no clue what they were doing. But incredibly the phone mostly works. Except for wifi everything else works.
Thanks,
Vishnu Rao.
