Good to know. This isn't the only problem our root method causes, others experience boot loops.
Dammit we need a proper KNOX 0x0 root method ASAP.

Which Root Method is causing the issues?
@redstar299
this is wrong. I own a rooted P605 with urdlv rooting, knox not tripped and my Allcast Share dongle works despite system status Custom.

CF-Auto Root Port.
I remember a couple of people mention boot loops in the official thread. Something to do with the wifi or sd card

That's what I used, so far I haven't had any boot loop issues though. I don't have a AllCast Dongle, so I can't comment on that, I wonder if I should avoid getting one for now.
Maybe the LTE version doesn't.. the Wi-Fi one does. I tried every method to undo it including flashing back to stock.

I can affirm that it will not work if rooted with CF-Autoroot. I get an error that somes something like "cannot connect due to hardware error" or something. I tried unrooting, did not work. I tried triangleaway, did not work. I tried re-flashing stock, did not work. I returned my all-share cast hub instead. I'd rather have root.
I am rooted and P600 will connect to a samsung tv and my Miracast receiver.
I read online it just nukes AllShare Cast cause apparently it reads the flash counter on startup. I had to exchange it for a new one. I tried all recommended fixes nothing seemed to stick

I have a p601 initially rooted with cf-auto root. l unrooted it and installed stock firmware with Odin. Allshare cast dongle is working fine. I'm not sure it has anything to do with the flash counter, because my flash counter is 6 and the Knox is tripped.

I sold my allshare dongle a couple of weeks ago,but with my old note 10.1 rooting was not the problem.Once i putted a custom recovery on it the dongle stopped to work, with stock recovery on it there were no problems.

rooted without trigger knox 0x0?
how?
Im not sure what it is Knox or flash or whatever. Just saying once I rooted it was nuked. I tried going back to stock and didn't help. Exchanged for a new one
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda premium
The rooting tbreads clearly warn that the Knox flag might be irreversibly triggered depending on the rooting method.
The know flag can be checked when booting in download mode (boot with power and volume down pressed, then volume up and a set of parametets is shown upper left including Knox status and system status)
It is yet unknown which effects the Knox trigger has.

Knox is triggered but Miracast still works.
Maybe a few of you have recognized that Screen Mirroring is not working on modified Samsung stock roms when you are rooted, or have an otherwise "modified system" status.
This is due to a restriction of Samsung, which is coded into the file /system/lib/libWFD_ENGINE.so
There are a few threads regarding this, unfortunately I did not find a patched file for our Note3 on the latest 4.4.2 stock roms...
See here for reference:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2556527
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2421642
So there have been successful attempts to port this for some devices as you can see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542509
A guide how to do it is for example here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551086
Does someone of you have already a patched libWFD_ENGINE.so?
If not, I will try to do it for myself and share it here, but I would prefer if a more experienced developer could do this, it would do us a big favor!
Regards,
Markus
UPDATE:
edit: tried to start for myself, but there is no such file existing on latest stock 4.4.2...
this is not good, as this would mean that this attempt would not work!
does anyone know in which file the restriction is now?
UPDATE 15.07.2014:
here seems to be a proper solution:

there would be no simple answer,
either someone has already patched the file and would like to share,

yes, status change and root cloak do not do the trick!
so there must be again some coding which prevents us (rooted users) from using screen mirroring on 4.4.2!
what wonders me:
why does this not bother more users? for me this is a major flaw, because i want to use screen mirroring AND of course root!
so please, if anybody has an idea please let us know!
It has nothing to do with root... cause on the stock kernel and 4.4.2 screen mirroring works... also with root

I just thought it didn't support screen mirroring to the devices I have (Apple TV, Chromecast). I have All cast installed. Should I be able to mirror my screen?
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
i also have the same problem with screen mirroring. with 4.3 it works perfect, but with 4.4 it is not possible.
i used the original firmware including root, or different custom firmwares. it connects for 1 second and abort after this.
also i used the stock kernel, that changes nothing.
it is possible to connect to chromcast or also DLNA Mode, but miracast on an wifi stick ist not working.
hope this will be possible, because it is also a main feature for me.
On a Samsung smart TV it works flawlessly with stock kernel

i used the CloudnetGO CR-M200S, here it doesn´t work. on an samsung s3 with an custom firmware 4.4 i can connect...with the note3 not
also with the s4 it works.

even i change Stock Kernels.....still not work
I see no valid reason why it should not support.... the fix specified in the title of the thread could work on 4.3 i did not have the chance to try and it did work on other phones like galaxy s4, its simply a process or something that is denying the connection...
What i did is, i super wiped my phone to factory default and wipe scripts and i flashed stock rom, kernel and recovery 4.4.2 on my SM-N900, since i own a rather expensive new Samsung smart TV i wanted the "privilege" to at least see the feature before i decide if i can live without it....
Setting aside for a moment my bilnd anger for paying top dollar for top of the range appliances by samsung only to loose many features when trying to have the phone suit my needs far far better then sammy did OOB.
So i Flashed the stock.. everything and i finally got it to work after being rooted...
I am now rooted once more and even though i still want the function to work rooted (because perhaps then it can be tweaked to work better then close to crap)
i can say that it aint a big miss in its current state.. in the basic function the image is delayed by about avg of 400 ms making games unplayable. perhaps closing any other source of wi-fi (since it connects through wifi direct if im not mistaking) can push it to 300 ms delay to 250ms but nothing lower, adding to that a small delay in input from a sixaxis controller and you surely cannot play a game of any kind exept if you want unmerited added challenge or simply love frustration... as for browsing or any other function, its nice but if you have a smart tv its quit useless.
i cannot fathom why Airplay mirroring works so well and i mean very very well.. once you figure out how to optimize it on the network.. there are moments that its flawless (even more on the apps that have the same function such as airserver and reflector) My HTC one also will not connect to the TV via miracast even though i know it can, i did not delve in to the issue since i have the HTC Media Link H200 HD. which also connects through p2p wifi of sort.... and works again almost as good as airplay but more hiccups. i havent tried any other dongle yet but i love the concept of the feature and think that we are headed to screen mirroring being heavily used in coming times.
but from what i tested allshare cast with SM-n900 to smart tv (samsung series 8) works very poorly, i am still searching the web and codes and info to try and understand why because i would love to get it working and maybe even tweaked.
and BTW Samsung Smartview app that is used as a tv remote that allows you to watch the tv and control it from your phone remotely does not work when custom code is used..
P.S
when i got it working. i changed back 1 thing at a time. first custom recovery.... then tried after that root... then tried and so on....
once i flashed the custom recovery, still did nothing with it and only flashed the recovery image even without entering it.. broke the function
Any update?
Not connected with routing, but since 4.4.2 I had two issues:-
1) It would try to connect and then just give up. To fix this I held the Dongle-12345 link down until it says "Connect with pin". This allowed me to connect but lead to problem 2
2) All I got was a blank screen. it seems to make the AllShare Cast Hub go into 1080p/30 !! This is an unusual (but valid) mode that not all TVs support. On my Panasonic TV I get a blank screen but on another TV it works. It seems to totally disregard the TV capability with LF21 or LJ02 firmware and I cannot try anything newer because the firmware updater has been withdrawn by Samsung
Not very impressed!

Towelroot didn't work even with the app SELinuxModeChanger and su superuser.
Thanks in advance. I'm a newbie here, and have trouble following some of these threads.

Well you see my phone is already rooted, but even with the towel root I cannot get my SE Linux to change to permissive. No matter what I try, it remains enforcing. To get my phone to have touch controls through the app radio, it must be in permissive mode.
Was your suggestion that this root in the thread you posted will change my se linux to permissive mode?

You will not get permissive linux without a unlocked bootloader because a custom kernel needs to be flashed. See this thread for more info. My thread is for returning to stock and root.

Not exactly sure what you're saying, but I think you're overestimating my ability here haha. I read every post in this thread:

but it looks like this is an unsolved issue.
Edit: So your saying it's impossible without an unlocked bootloader? Forgive me for my technological ignorance here, but is there not a way to unlock the bootloader?
If so how did this guy get his version to work?

Ok, now I'm seeing it. Verizon and AT&T have shafted us here. So the only way to get our phones to not be enforcing is through an unlocked bootloader which can only be done through verizon with a developer edition. The whole reason I changed to android was for this flexibility and now they're taking it away from us.

There is an app in play store called SELinux Mode changer, which you can use but in order for the app to work your kernel should support the permissive change.

I have tried that exact app and got no results, I'm not very good with phone rooting. I know ive towel rooted my s5 but i think in the tutorial I used, I believe they had you flashing the stock kernel back onto the phone to not trip the knoc for warranty reasons? Where would I find a kernel that I can flash that will allow me to use that app to switch selinux to permissive? Thanks again.

to be honest I don't care I just want to know where I can find a kernel lol. I'll have to look some more on here and see if there's one or a way around it.
From the looks of things it seems you have an att variant, is that correct? If so you cant set it to permissive because you need to flash a permissive kernel which isnt possible on the att variant. Theres a third party app available that works on SElinux enforcing called "appradio unchained reloaded", it is a bit pricy though.

Sadly, no there is no way to set it to premissive since you cant flash any bootloader or kernel that isnt official. If you plan on getting a new phone id stay away from buying direct from att cause they tend to lock their devices down so just make sure you do your research.
