Rooting nukes the ability to use the all-cast dongle for screen mirroring. Wanam and Synscope hacks will not fix it. Does anyone know of a work around?

Good to know. This isn't the only problem our root method causes, others experience boot loops.
Dammit we need a proper KNOX 0x0 root method ASAP.

Which Root Method is causing the issues?
@redstar299
this is wrong. I own a rooted P605 with urdlv rooting, knox not tripped and my Allcast Share dongle works despite system status Custom.

CF-Auto Root Port.
I remember a couple of people mention boot loops in the official thread. Something to do with the wifi or sd card

That's what I used, so far I haven't had any boot loop issues though. I don't have a AllCast Dongle, so I can't comment on that, I wonder if I should avoid getting one for now.
Maybe the LTE version doesn't.. the Wi-Fi one does. I tried every method to undo it including flashing back to stock.

I can affirm that it will not work if rooted with CF-Autoroot. I get an error that somes something like "cannot connect due to hardware error" or something. I tried unrooting, did not work. I tried triangleaway, did not work. I tried re-flashing stock, did not work. I returned my all-share cast hub instead. I'd rather have root.
I am rooted and P600 will connect to a samsung tv and my Miracast receiver.
I read online it just nukes AllShare Cast cause apparently it reads the flash counter on startup. I had to exchange it for a new one. I tried all recommended fixes nothing seemed to stick

I have a p601 initially rooted with cf-auto root. l unrooted it and installed stock firmware with Odin. Allshare cast dongle is working fine. I'm not sure it has anything to do with the flash counter, because my flash counter is 6 and the Knox is tripped.

I sold my allshare dongle a couple of weeks ago,but with my old note 10.1 rooting was not the problem.Once i putted a custom recovery on it the dongle stopped to work, with stock recovery on it there were no problems.

rooted without trigger knox 0x0?
how?
Im not sure what it is Knox or flash or whatever. Just saying once I rooted it was nuked. I tried going back to stock and didn't help. Exchanged for a new one

The rooting tbreads clearly warn that the Knox flag might be irreversibly triggered depending on the rooting method.
The know flag can be checked when booting in download mode (boot with power and volume down pressed, then volume up and a set of parametets is shown upper left including Knox status and system status)
It is yet unknown which effects the Knox trigger has.

I have a question, I am experiencing random freeze where my screen will just free, will not respond to my touches, I was on mi7 rooted it using Rdlv, then used the mobile odin method to upgrade to upgrade it to mj7 in the hope that, these freezes goes away. Afraid that the issues is still there. I think I might have to send it to the service centre. So my question is unroot the decide using sypersu method, will I be able to re root and if yes how. So I have experienced some issues. When I first got the phone it was stuttery and having issues with Google Music and freezing up. Next Day I factory reset it (twice in a row cuz I'm paranoid) and been a dream since. However, just last night it has an issue too. I was messing with some PSP ROM and trying to load it from sdcard. Then I started reading that A) there may be issues with the 64GB SanDisk SDcards AND/OR B)Note 3 may have some issues with indexing sdcards in general.
So if you are using an sdcard of any size, try taking it out or reformatting (after backing up ofcourse) and see if that helps. BUT for sure a lot of problems are cleared up with a factory reset. Mine is at about 95% now except for that weird issue last night.
I do not use any sd card at present

I have today seen that the most probable issue with the freeze is my RAM is getting filled up, i used LMT pie control and from that i can see, that my ram used is always 2109MB, leaving only 333MB. Okay so I am brand new to the Android OS. I have been an iPhone user for about 5 years and jailbreaking was such a simple task and I fully understood how that worked. I'm glad I made the switch to android because it does everything a jailbroken iPhone does. I just found out about this rooting stuff. How does it work and how can I do it with Note 3 on AT&T SM-N900A? I downloaded some new OTA update but I don't know what it means.

RdlV is for versions prior to your MJ5. Don't even think about using it!
Kingo Root works well but is suspected to be malware (search for details) and all links to it have been banned from xda until kingo devs prove it is safe. That doesn't seem to be happening very quickly.

As far as I know, Kingo will work. However, due to it sending our IMEI number to China, I don't wanna do it yet.

They said the newest Kingo update removed those calls back home and that they won't be doing that anymore. I don't know anything about them sending IMEI info to China, but supposedly the connections to their servers in China was to download the updates as the program rooted the phone.
I was skeptical about kingo root but after doing some research I went ahead and did it and everything seems to be fine. Yes, it takes your imei but no one really knows what they do with it if anything. All rooting is, is finding exploits and utilizing them to gain root access. In all actuality, you never truly know the intentions of any new developers that come on the scene.

I remember reading about users having the same issue with the instalation stalling at the same percentage every time. It has something to do with you changing something (can be a number of things) in the system folder. Think about it, did you change the boot animation? Thanks Dustin!
I finally solved 2 problems (the installation problem and the sudden failure of Kies3 to see my phone) by going to recovery, doing a wipe data and cache and factory reset. I then re-rooted using the De La Vega method, disabled root and checked "survival mode in SuperSU Pro and then accepted the update to MJ5. This time it made it past the 27% installation point and completed. The I re-enabled root in SuperSU Pro launched titanium backup and batch restored apps and all is well. So I am finally rooted and on MJ5 without having to use Kingo. Thanks for your help.

If you took the OTA update to 4.3, then yes you are on the Knox bootloader. AND you are stock unrooted (unless you've since rooted).
Yes it's safe to post a pic of you system config; there is nothing anyone can take from that information that is harmful to you.

Yes, custom recovery will trip Knox.
1. My phone was previously rooted,
2. Got 4.3 update
3. Now has a clean knox
My questions are
A. can I root my phone again?
B. Will later android updates give me another clean knox?
C. Are any procedures like triangle away that will keep knox clean?
D. Is warranty the only reason I want a clean knox?

A. Yes you can, if you don't want the Knox warranty flag use Safe Root. If you google safe root for S4 you should find the link. The Knox flag is actually tripped when you install a custom recovery. This means if you use cf autoroot, twrp, philz, or any other root or recovery the Knox flag will be tripped. If you want to install a custom rom or mod, then you will trip the Knox flag since those require a custom recovery. If you just want to root and remove bloat, backup with TiBu, install xposed framework modules, or even unlock the hotspot then you can do those without a custom recovery and keep your Knox warranty flag in place.
B. No, once you have tripped the Knox warranty flag, so far the flag is not reset by installing updates or the full stock tar file of a newer version.
C. Not at his time.
D. Yes, at this time the only thing the Knox warranty flag does is show Samsung that your device has been tampered with at one time. Sprint and Assurian still honor the TEP insurance, but if your phone has to be sent to Samsung for repair or warranty that is where you will have problems.

Mostlikely YES.
My brother's device had problems with some of their corporate apps (email/portal stuff) designed to look for ROOT and othe security (knox I bet) changes. Is IT guys literally swapped out his phone after he rooted it!
Plus it seems that a whole lot of people are having issue connecting to PEAP WiFi networks; primarily, I'm guessing' Cisco based. [Cisco is notoriously behind the curve. Heck they have security devices (ASAs) that must be accessed with OLD java versions.]
But there ARE some solutions for that around here.

Hot spot is easy, run the safe root file from your pc to root your phone. Then download the odexed MK2 hot spot mod in post 337 in the hot spot mod thread. Use 7zip or similar app to extract the services.jar and services.odex file to your sdcard. Then use root explorer to copy them to the system/framework directory. It is a good idea to backup the original files. After you copy the new files you will need to change the permissions to rw-r-r. After this is done reboot and enjoy free hot spot. This will not trip knox since you don't have to install a custom recovery.

Sorry, but I was responding from my phone and couldn't post links but here you go:
Find the correct MK2 odexed hot spot mod in post #337 of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256950&page=34
Then you can follow crawj's procedures here to manually install the update without a custom recovery: https://skydrive.live.com/view.aspx...E!131&app=Word&wdo=2&authkey=!AJdLcpl9ak9eZnw

The problem occurs within the bootloader of the MJA or newer firmware. With that version of the software, Samsung has prevented the downgrading of the bootloader so there is no way to get rid if that feature. You can go through the rom and remove or disable the Knox files, which do nothing for the phone except free up some space. Knox's purpose is to allow Samsung to create a secure environment for corporate and government companies that need to protect their info and intellectual properties. The average user will never need Knox, so it's safe to remove. When Samsung fully implemented Knox with 4.3 they integrated it into the bootloader. Now, all of us assume the Knox warranty flag voids your Samsung warranty, which it probably does, but I believe its true purpose is to void the Knox integrity check so the Knox secure containers know the phone has been tampered with and can't guarantee data security.
Data security is big business and Samsung wants a piece of that pie.

computer programs and knox
so once knox is tripped to 0x1 does that prevent your phone being read by other programs? only reason i ask is because i have tripped knox and some of my data on my phone has been erased (notes, pics, sms, contacts) and the programs i have wont even acknowledge my phone.
Hi,
I'm trying to find out if I can install the AVG Anti-theft (free, rooted) app without tripping knox. It wants to either do a direct write or have me flash a update.zip in case I don't have NAND access (S-OFF). Do I? Anyone tried this? I like AVG's Anti-theft and it's free. Just wondering if I'll screw up my device flashing it. I haven't found anything via google. TIA.
This is a good question actually. I just rooted my Note 3 using Knox and USB 3.0 last night for the first time. I had the N3 since day 1 but had no PC to root it. Finally was able to pick up my new PC so I went ahead and rooted just being excited I was able to. But now that u mention it, before rooting with Knox I was using the paid version of Lookout mobile security and I thought when I rooted it would have wiped my phone completely but I still had all my apps. Needless to say Lookout was still installed and is still working after root without issue so far. Wether or not I tripped Knox idk? I did get the pop up asking me if I wanted to disable Knox after rooting which I said yes to, but at the time I wasn't even thinking about the fact I had Lookout installed. Like I said no issues so far, but if I tripped the counter or not I do not know? I'm not sure how u check even?

You can check by booting into download mode with vol down + home + power i believe. It will say know 0x0 or 0x1. Interesting that you were able to install Lookout. Which method did you choose? was their an option? I'm using AVG, which lets you do writes to protected areas which is why I made this thread...

I honestly don't remember what permissions or method I chose with Lookout on my N3. like I said I installed the premium version before rooting and it just ended up staying on the phone. Only reason I was even using Lookout was because I recently picked up the Z1s on my T-Mobile line and it came with the premium service of Lookout for free so I figured what the hell and installed it on my Verizon N3 as well. I'm sure whatever method I chose was just the method Lookout suggests by default though. I'll have to try n check n see if I tripped it or not and I'll let ya know.
